  • In this video I install a brand new set of coilovers to my Mk4 Volkswagen Golf GTI 1.8T. I chose to install the new suspension in order to improve the handling and aesthetics of the car. So far I have not been disappointed.
    There is a step by step guide of installation, some good useful tips and information.
    Thank you for visiting the channel and I hope you enjoy watching. If you would like to see more from the SPOOLIN UP channel then please LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE : )

      Yes most say as long as you don't go over 45mm or 50mm you will be ok. I think the OEM links are very good to be honest, I have aftermarket and I think they are garbage. See how you get on with them

      Hi, at the moment I am thinking about getting 18s because I think 19s might scrub the inside of the arches. I am not 100% sure that will happen. It depends what sort of look you want as well, 19s will ride a lot harder than 18s, also more likely to get cracked due to low profile tyres and coilovers.

      In my opinion I dont think its essential. Every suspension part/component takes more stress when you have lowered the car but unless they were already worn then I dont think its essential.

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  3 года назад +1

      Thats correct I have one fitted but it isn't the best setup to be honest, I think an aftermarket one might be the best. Or if you have coilovers that can take TT ARB links then you can run the ARB no problem.

      Certainly do keep it in mind. What coilovers do you have? Like I said if they have the mounting points on them for ARBs on them then TT ARB and TT ARB links might work but TT ARB and Golf links is a bit of a forced fit if you get my drift.

    Hi mate, new susciber, great content, behind the rear jacking point on the sills, behind the sill is a hole either side, did you have your axle stands on those holes? Asking as i dont like using the sills 👍👍

      Looking at it now John I think I did use the sills mate, not sure if you can use that inner part. If you want you can always do one side at a time and not let all of the weight off the jack onto the axel stand and keep both under there. I hate jacking cars up unless the floor is really smooth and the jack is massive. Sorry I can't help too much

    • @SPOOLINUP
      @SPOOLINUP  4 года назад +1

      No problem at all mate I've got ones that are flat but curve up at 45° at the edges. I know the cars moves on them if you jack both sides up one after the other. My sills are fine, no damage to them. As long as you can jack the car freely and it doesnt get stuck on the floor because it wants to pull itself under the car and if it can't it will bend the weakest thing which is the sill. I've been fine though mate just watch it. There is a reinforced part where the arrows are so use my jack at the end of that and fit my stand at the other end but if you have large gear it might be hard.
