I feel bad for Kirk, his first game gotta face a fresh tj watt😮
This is good. Now there will be no excuses. Not only that, but as a life long steelers fan I remember our guys playing down to the competition. This is why I like it.
Totally agree. If we come out of this with a good record, at least there will be a little more optimism about the playoffs.
Very true
Russ plays better against tougher competition.
Mike Tomlin is responsible for playing down to competition level.
Come on Deke you have to admit putting Eagles, Ravens and Chiefs in a 10 day window with 2 of them being away is a major thing that cannot be ignored. It stacks the odds against us right in the middle of a brutal second half of the season.
Good! Remember what the Germans told the 101st Airborne Division in the Battle of the Bulge during WW2. "We have u surrounded." The 101st response was " now u guys can't escape." Let that sink in.
You ain’t lying, along with all those divisional games back to back to back, this is brutal, however, no excuses. All I know is whoever has to play us better feel the same way we feel about playing all these good teams. I’m excited if we excel we gonna be TALKMBOUT
I'll play Nostradamus and say Hurts is injured when Eagles play Steelers, so Steelers will run all over Pickett in that game, Ravens probably gonna lose by less than a TD like usual and Steelers record on Christmas Day (2-0) will continue to be flawless when they win a low scoring defensive battle against the Chiefs.
WE NEED ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP!! 😩
I like the schedule. Because the new personnel will have time to come together before the tough games.
And perfect time for bye week. Not like last year where it was too early
First half before bye we should be 6-2 to 8-0. High expectations over here
Im with you, the steelers have upgraded their roster especially at the qb position
I'm worried about the Chargers TBH. Cowboys and Jets games are gonna be tough too
@@mikebongiorni chargers?? Really? The jets maybe, chargers have no weapons easy W
If Pittsburgh wants to make the post season, they better be no worse that 6--2. There are absolutely no easy games in the second half.
I'm thinking 5-3. They went 5-1 in the division last year. I say 4-2 because the Ravens are due to beat us at some point. 9-5 with Commanders, Chiefs and Eagles left. So 10-7 or 11-6
First 8 are all winnable games on the back end is tough.
8-0 to start, 4-2 in the AFC North... probably going all the way.
@@elbob17this is why steeler fans are disappointed every year, lets win a playoff game first before we say that we will get 12+ wins
@jamesarcaro2575 this is also why we haven't won a playoff game in 8 years. The teams that have made the playoffs shouldn't have been there in the first place or have several key injuries right before playoffs.
@@jamesarcaro2575it’s called the league wants to mess our season up every year with these schedules, and then when we have decent or not a top 5 worst schedule we lose to 2-10 teams 😂😂🤬🤬
If we want to be the best we have to beat the best. I'm very optimistic for this upcoming season. 12 win ceiling 9-10 wins is the floor
I have been a Steelers fan since 1972 and we play these teams every year we are a better team on all sides then we were last year 12-5 out total and at least the first round of the playoffs if not the second
Finally. I've been a fan since 72 myself. This media thing is crazy. Nothing matters till they play the game
Amen
May we be reminded… Steelers were 5-1 last season in the AFC North. With all the injuries… with mostly Matt Canada… with KP8/Mitch/Mason.
Oh no! How will we compete???
Yeah with them spread throughout the year. Not Ravens, three days later Browns, Bengals, Eagles, Ravens (Sat), then 4 days later Chiefs, then Bengals.
@@amberreed4443 You want these teams in the second half of the Season in General LJ8, Burrow, and Hurts are always injured even Mahomes. The Steelers have the best back up QB in the NFL.
Division games beat up both teams and with the north being the toughest Division we will be limping into the playoffs. If the offense can balance the defense and keep the defense rested we will be fine.
Played a ton of back up qbs
Good take, I’m climbing down off the west end bridge now lol
As long as Wilson stays health they should make the playoffs. If fields has to start then it will be a lost season he isn't good. Hard schedule will get them ready for playoffs. Still need a wr 2.
They should incorporate Fields as a "Slash" role
I’m not worried like you deke I think we can clutch the whole division late in the year when we’re playing the best ball
I'm good with it... the Steelers always liked a challenging schedule! It will test our newly revamped Team!
I like heavy afc n at 2nd half. Gives time for o line to gel and team with new oc to work things out.
11-6, win 1st play off. This may b Cams last yr unless he comes in at 10-12m/ roll 24 into contract add 1 yr, 2y 28m.
That back end is brutal
Sounds like a girl I knew
@@johncox6204😂😂😂
To be the best, you have to beat the best.
So glad to hear you not whining about the schedule. Gives the offense time to get clicking and be ready for the tougher part of the schedule. With that said, we have no idea about what teams will be tough. Injuries we know will happen at some point. Hopefully not severe. Also, those teams are picked to go to the playoffs. Gonna have to face some of them in there, so let’s see how good things go in the regular season games.
Wish we played a couple division games mid season, but it sure makes for an exciting end of the season.
Deke the Steelers couldn't be so lucky for Pickett to play.
We've got this. It'll be a strong record going into the bye then we ready up for the brutal fight that is the back half of the season.
I'm in agreement with the Deke 😂
If the stigma that we play down to our competition is a thing, then we are winning out this year
You know who your opponent is 14 out of 17 games every year. I can tell you who we are playing in 2050 except for 3 games butI can tell you whqt diivison those 3 games are coming from I just dont know what our record is going to be which will determine who the team is, so who we are playing is no surprise
the problem is that the last 9 weeks is insane difficulty all the division games should not be at once it should be spread out
😊😊😊
Im just happy we are playing on XMAS!!!
Very tough schedule whole season depends on the QB play and the play calling !! Defense will be ready
Great Job Deke!
Deke, I'm with you on this one. Honestly, who cares b/c these teams also have to play us. If we are good enough, we are good enough.
13-4 for Pittsburgh this year
The only thing I don't like about the schedule is that they crammed all of our division games into the last 8 weeks of the season.
I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, it's just strange.
We had a garbage offense and went 5-1 division, I'm pretty sure our offense has been upgraded bigtime . No question our defense has been upgraded. We could very well be 8-0 going into last 9 games. Six of which is our division. We will see what the Wilson triplets have to say about this year.
I love your positivity about the Steeler's win total this year! Just a few things, though.
1) Assuming we beat the Browns twice will come back to haunt us (stop with the bold predictions, they jinx us).
2) Your formula has at least one glaring flaw- your "50/50 games" would be a game where the spread is 3 points or less. When we play at the Eagles or the Chiefs this year, the spread will probably be more like 7 points or more. The win probability for the Chiefs will be like 68% on ESPN gamecast (not that that counts for anything). So you need to subtract one or two wins for those sorts of games.
3) For the formula to actually work, you need to include games like @ the Colts in the 50/50 category. Those are never for sure wins, as we saw with both the Colts and the Texans last year.
The four games I think we should win are @ Falcons, @ Broncos, @ Raiders, and at home against the Giants, with at least one win between Colts and Commanders. That's 5 wins, plus 6 (half of the remaining 12 games), minus 0-3 (for Cowboys, Eagles, and Chiefs) equals 8 to 11 wins. So your 11 win prediction is definitely doable, but it's the ceiling. I know you must be loving Steeler's sportsbook win total this year! Last year I cashed that Over 8 1/2 wins bet. This year they have the Steelers at 7 1/2 wins!!! That's freaking outrageous! They have the Steelers under 500 every year. It's crazy.
I take pride in the afc north being the toughest division in all of football. That is the only credit you will see me giving to the bengals and the brownies
If we’re going to win and at least get well into the playoffs at least, we have to handle this. Champions persevere regardless.
Steelers will be ready for all teams that willin to get in our way to the bowl.❤😂🎉🎉🎉😅
It’s called a stretch that will prepare us for the playoffs if we fight hard enough I see us crushing this season and giving us a lot of confidence going forward
I’m so happy we get to be our best for our division in the second half of the season
It’s gonna be tough for sure. Some added pressure to be ready. OL needs to gel, QB established, adjusted to the Arthur smiths offense
Russ has run that kind of offense before.
Some teams start strong then gets weak. Some start weak then get stronger. If a team is worthy of a SB contender, it does not matter.
Brutal schedule from week 11 onwards, I agree. It has been reported that Fields is toxic, uncoachable and has a personality disorder that makes everyone hate him. He should get cut, soon. I agree, Wilson will start, and he should do pretty well,( like he put up decent stats with Denver, I agree with you)and with our great O-line protecting him. The broncos traded wilson, because he couldnt run the offence like Payton wanted, due to a learning disabiltity or stubbornness or a mental block. Wilson is old, his best days are behind him. We cant expect him to be great. The most we can hope for is decent. The steelers should trade for Kurt Cousins. The Falcons, dont want him, because he is a source of tension in the QB room, being the projected starter, but not the true guy. And Kurt is not gonna want to sit behind Penix, who is better and ready to start. The Falcons will play the better guy. Its Penix.
Exactly Deke! They have to Play us! We don’t care who we play.
That last half is a gauntlet. Looks like Goodell himself came up with that. Not to mention a Wednesday game Christmas day.
It's super simple, YOU TAKE ONE GAME AT A TIME
This schedule is better than last year's, in my opinion.
Schedules mean something but injuries are the real difference maker. There was some stat about all the back QBs that were starting by the mid / late season last year, it was crazy!
Something people aren’t seeing is that we have a 10-11 day rest before both bengals games. We’ll need it. Out of anyone in our division we match up worst with them.
2 times where the Steelers have to play 3 games within a 11 day window, don’t play a division rival until week 11 and then have to face 4 division rivals in a row, and then we have 3 days to prepare against the chiefs who are the reigning superbowl champs… wtf is the league doing😭. I’m just so concerned about our health after the bye week
It sucks but, the Chiefs have the same window with the Browns into the Texans into the Steelers.
Russ eats Patrick Mahomes. He should be 4-1 vs. the Mahomes-led Chiefs, as they’ve faced each other 5 times with Russ outplaying him in 4 of those games. But the record is 2-3. The Broncos lost two close games to the Chiefs in Russ’s worst season ever, and he was better than Mahomes in those games. Russ is going to start, play well all season long, and lead the Steelers on a 2-win playoff appearance.
The tough part about this schedule is just the fact that we have so many AFC North matchups in a row to finish the season, and we all know how taxing those matchups are. Hopefully they though it out 🤷♂️
We run to the fire not away from it. Like Cam said, teams gotta play the Pittsburgh Steelers. We bring a brand of physicality to the game that teams need to prepare for. idk why there’s so much fear🤷🏽♂️
I am not scared of the afc north. I just understand it. It's the hardest hitting division. Playing those games in that short of time right before the post season is rough.
It just shows that the NFL is against Pittsburgh how they gonna put all of our division games at the end of the year ? Smh thats some bull.
Historically, no matter how good the Steelers are, they split with the ravens and put up a good fight or maybe even win a few CLOSE games with “better” teams that are “suppose to lose to”
With all the movement that’s been going on, I’m confidant in this season 😁🤙🏽
IT IS VITAL... VITAL... to start the season out strong. The last half of the season is BRUTAL. That makes ALL the difference. 5 out of 6 games from week 11 on is division games. With the 6th game being vs Baltimore, then a short 4 day turn around to go play the Chiefs. The team is going to beat up after all them division games, plus interstate rival game vs Philly. Start of the year, yeah it's easier, but only 1 home game for the first month. Broncos and Raiders always seem to get the better of us, even going back to Ben Roethlisberger days. Broncos we've always faced non elite QBs and still struggle. Same can be said for the Raiders. (Haven't finished the video yet. Will come back to this later if needed). Looking forward to the rest of this vid. Thanks for the content!
You what really sucks unless we shock the world and get a first round bye if we make the playoffs But from playing all those division games at the end of the season we are gonna be beat up for the playoffs and most likely will have some big injuries two the AFC North teams always have injuries after those brutal games the Raven and Steelers are mirror images of each other the Browns are following those two teams lead defensively and offensively and the Bengals games are violent in a disrespectful dirty way not like the hate between the Browns /Steelers the respect between Steelers/Ravens but the Steelers/Bengals is like I'm gonna cheap shot you try to end your career the fans will be ultra disrespectful I hate those games I hate the Bengals all together they have do so many dirty things to us to hurt us in the long run not even like the heavyweight Steelers Ravens game or the street fight between the Steelers and Browns but that game is more like I'm gonna be dirty hurt you and your family for the rest of there lives type game it's just different and has been really bad like that since Cowher was still are Coach
If you make the playoffs with this schedule in the second half, they will be playoff ready. No “easy” games or taking games off.
I have us at 10-7. Think we will considerably improve but our schedule is tough so same record as last season..but this time we are winning a playoff game!
I don’t think people are “scared” of the afc north… I think the major thing is how physical our games are in general when we play our division.. 4 division games back to back is brutal on the body. Thats what I think people are worried about.
2008 season was the hardest schedule in over 25 years. What happened? SB win!! They have more problems with teams they should beat! All will depend on the O-line. If they play good then should be in the running for a playoff win. Depends on injuries. Time will tell! Thanks Deke!!
The schedule ain't too bad it's gonna be rough but #herewego
Personally, I don’t think this schedule could have laid out any better. It’s setup similar to a college schedule where you get to warm up with non conference weaker teams and then move into your conference teams and start getting sharp heading into the playoffs. You get the mid/late bye right before heading into the hard part of the schedule is ideal.
This also gives us a chance to get the expected day 1 starters in Frazier, Fautanu, R. Wilson and maybe P. Wilson acclimated before the hardest part of the schedule.
The Steelers play in the AFC North, so strength of schedule will always be up near the top. Ironically, the Pats had one of the weakest strength of schedules for 20 years playing in the AFC East, cashing in on 6 near gimme wins a year.
Easy wins the first half of the season while we scout the division for the 2nd half of the season. Get close games to self scout before second match up. That strategy favors Pittsburgh because we have one of the best coaches in the league, much more in the division. As long as everyone does what they need to, the schedule is completely in our favor. Excited for a deep playoff run. Here We Go!
this is lowkey perfect. if we win out 7-1 to start before the bye we have some leeway going into the gauntlet and it will provide basically an extended playoffs for us
You didn’t mention that we added p.queen as well and Payton Wilson as a killer inside linebacker group and we haven’t seen a group like this in years and years, I would love to play against Pickett all day long with our defense and improved offense 👍🏈
Aint guaranteed we play against Pickett....but oh man if we do he better strap up!!!
@@mikebongiorni thank you for the positive comment, so needed now a days and I know that’s a total shot in the dark but it could happen and would love to see it happen
If we somehow go 8-0 to start we basically only need 4 of those last 7-8 games shoot we would really need 3
Well Deke, I’m not about to jump ship, but this schedule is very formidable and will ultimately be a true test for just how good our team is. And although Denver probably won’t be good, they will get up for the Steelers, as most teams do anyway. But I do wish we played the Broncos further into the season, giving Russ more time to settle into the scheme of things. I can certainly see where are schedule is the 3rd strongest.
Steelers will obviously have to earn it.
The Steelers always play better when they have a murderous schedule than when they have a cakewalk one. This is very good for the team and I think 11-13 wins is definitely attainable if we stay (reasonably) healthy.
I don't know.. sounds good deke
LOOKOUT FOR #1❤😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I believe the NFL gave the Steelers a GIFT in the '24 schedule because they gave us 8 games to allow the team to gel.
After the Bye we should have most of our players on the same page and making a Run in the Playoffs.
We are at Flacons, Broncos Colts Raiders Commanders, and we have the chiefs at home, to make the playoff we probably need to win 3 of those 6, seems doable
As usual, the hardest part of our schedule is our own division. Then we have like 2-3 good games to measure us, we’ll be good
Bring on the cowgirls 🎉🎉🎉
Need to put these on Spotify
There's a 10 day stretch in Dec where we're playing 3 games.... And it's the Eagles Ravens Chiefs. Just brutal
week 11 through 18. 2 out of division games. eagles and chiefs. what a final stretch.
Id love to sign back Markus Golden and some other payers like him for starting quality depth for those short week, we can play those guys way more during those short week games to avoid injuries.
Week 10 until the end of the season is a pretty rough schedule won’t be easy
We have a lot of new pieces on this team so having a tougher schedule in the 2nd half gives them time to gel.
I like the schedule being tough, This way it keeps the coaches and team accountable. How many times have we lost to inferior opponents during the Tomlin era. Got to be sharp every week.
Steelers have the most short weeks of any team this season and they’re all in that 8 week stretch. 8 weeks against playoff teams in a row. I love the Steelers but I’ll be surprised if we get more than 9 wins this year now.
Is there any update on Kwon Alexander? Would the Steelers resign him
i think its goin to be an interesting play out
week 15-18 is goin to be rough
It's not that we scared to play the north late, it's the fact that the north games beat up both teams and then your limping into the playoffs. But the schedule is the schedule so 🤷🏾♂️
Only game that is concerning to me is the Ravens game is going to be physical and then play the Chiefs in 4 days on a Wednesday. I still think we go 12-5. QB play will be better O-Line will be better. The defense will be the same or better!
I don’t think too many Steelers fans are worried; I hear a lot of outside voices talking about it. You know who the Steelers don’t have to play against? The Steelers.
Going to Vegas Week 6 🎉🎉🎉
Have a blast waving that towel 🎉
Damn! Week 11 - 18 is BRUTAL for the Steelers. Good thing I'm not, but DAMN I feel sorry for you guys.
My problem is the number of days off between games
Steelers are built for cold weather & don't forget a shitty OC. Injuries on D n Coach T still had them prepared
I like the schedule. Hate the ravens then chiefs... but it's a good test. As long as we're healthy going into playoffs.
Idc about the schedule all that much because it’s so hard to predict things this far in advance. Players are sometimes out, weird shit happens etc
But it is really strange to not see any division opponents until after the bye week.
Deke, you’re not giving enough credit to the browns defense and run game with Chubb. Those are 50/50 games as well imo. Don’t sleep on the colts either
I’m not afraid of the other afc north teams but having them bunched together with other really good teams hurts like I would a lot better if we played the giants week 15 and the eagles week 8 and that changes my entire opinion of the schedule
i love the challenge we're gonna find out what coach t is really made of you know that i hate the non losing seasons discussion however if tomlin manages to pull off a winning season this year it would be impressive this could be the year it ends i got them winning 8 or 9 games when we expect them to underachieve they overachieve and vice versa so who knows
I'm glad it's a tough schedule maybe they won't play down to competition.
You can always count on a few upstairs blunders
We for sure could be 9-0 heading into week 11. 7-2 conservatively
My only problem with the schedule is in the second half of the season, we play mostly within the division. And given how physical the division is, I’m worried about injuries when we’re trying to make a Superbowl push. But, maybe I’m overreacting
The schedule is tough but I feel good about it because we are not do it with Kenny and Canada
Why no refeno or Michael Thomas? WR2?
This defense looking like 12-0 rn . We gonna need that run game I believe in Najee . Contact year
7-2, or 6-3 the first 9 games...after that, it gets very, very tough...4-4 would be pretty good after that.
The schedule makers literally made the AFC North a gauntlet this year
