It’s sad to hear especially considering your Hardcore Survivor series was one, if not the most entertaining series on RUclips for DBD, but I’m happy that you are doing something that makes you feel more content. It’s tough because with content creators it often feels like they’re forced to be tied to one product and sometimes it shows in their face and expressions that they’re not really having fun with it anymore, so full respect to those that risk viewership in order to do something that makes them feel more engaged and happier.
Hopefully someone from the crew reaches out to him and asks if they can organize it in their channel going forward. Idk who they'd replace him with though.

They still haven't reworked Twins like they promised. They still haven't added anything new at all. These " buffs " don't do jack shit because they are giving killers small portions. The fact that they said they won't be reworking any killers just proves how lazy they are. Also they sugarcoat their criticism by giving us free bullshit bloodpoints and stupid cosmetics instead of fixing the problems the game has. I think it’s a lot for dbd and it’s just not fun anymore and that’s why I’m done with dbd and the game play is starting to get very stale even with all the face camping

Your consistency in your posting has spoken louder than your words in this video ever can. You don't seem happier to me. You seem lost. I feel for you man, and I know you're going through it, but DBD was your bread and butter. Why set something in stone so strictly when you don't have to? Why not just post DBD content on occasion when you feel like it? What did Behavior do that was so upsetting to you to just quit completely? Your views and sub counts have diminished greatly since you left the DBD community. Forgive me for my ignorance, but I genuinely think you should consider coming back.
Apparently he used to be a fog whisperer and one day Behavior axed him from that and they chose not to really explain why. Since then he slowly got more and more bitter towards DBD. Just something I’ve noticed.

No it’s a trash game for survivor mains. What incentive do I have to play when the killer can bring basic add ons and dominate every minute of the game? What’s the point of playing of my teammates don’t care about ranking up or escaping? I’ve tried killer and it’s so easy it’s dumb. If I wanted to obliterate every match as a killer I could.
No, you got it wrong. In short, BHVR had turned dbd miserable. Not to mention any fixes for DDOSING. Completely understandable to leave a game that could have you get swatted.
@@Billyjoe888bro I have 3k with killer and 2k with survivor. Survivors always run the game. The higher the mmr the harder it is to get 3-4 kills consistently. Killer always has disadvantage, unless constantly using crazy add ons
@@MotionGravity yeah and as a killer with high mmr you play actual teams who are in voice chat with eachother. Solo queueing is impossible for survivors and therefore why I stopped playing.

I cannot even begin to comprehend how difficult it must be to come to terms with and make a decision like this when a large portion of your subscriber base came for DBD content initially. The truth is, you may lose some viewers. But you'll gain so much more in the long run if you're genuinely enjoying what you do. Good TBH. The last few times I watched Dowsey, I found him to be pretty toxic when playing the game (condescending, putting other players down just because they make a mistake etc). Hopefully he's grown up since then.

DBD has gone down the drain because the dev's haven't listened to any suggestion at all, they're fine doing their own thing. Which is cool. He didn’t lose it for no reason however, it was honestly so toxic how every single day he’d post a video of just straight negativity. You can criticize something without being just purely negative. It was hardly anything constructive, just hate. It was after he lost it that it just got worse and his dbd content slowed down. I think he just got bitter about the game and devs doing that to him.
@@7chicano while yes, many people including me agreed with a number of his takes, he went about addressing them wrong. Rather than stating the issue and his expected reaction to it or even presenting a possible solution, he would go too far into it, ripping into the devs and the game, when there have hardly been any issues to exist in dbd’s run that were that serious. I do think criticism is important for ever changing games like dbd, as it keeps things changing and improving, I do think there’s a point where it’s not just constructive criticism, it’s just mean and hateful.

I started playing back during the 4th anniversary event and quit last December, accumulating about 1200 hours of playtime over that time, because i was just constantly having such a miserable time, obviously it's a lot different for you since this is your job, but I get that you dont wanna be bound to something that just doesn't fulfill you anymore. The fact that BHVR denied the DDoS attacks and in small letter on conditions and terms of use, they don't consider this a violation and like MintSkull said "Hackers are also costumers" Now we see why they haven't improved the anti-cheating and gave tools to hackers and ddosers to hide in incognito, making impossible to report the user
Breaking away from doing content for a single game to do more of a variety has been something I've seen a lot of streamers I follow do, and it has always had a positive effect on them. You're making a good call by doing this, and I am excited to see where your channel goes from here!

Dowsey, 5:03 (time) Right...but wasn't this the whole point of the UI changes for survivor? To ADRESS this divede between solo and swf? Also, the "meta" may be currently in a position I'm not really on board, but this past years has been all but stale. The devs changed 40+ perks; yes, it made much of the old mindsets stronger, but the tendency is for changes to continue. I believe Behavior wants each game to be more quick, dynamic. But you can't make gens have the possibility to be done within 5 minutes and expect the killer not to go for tunnels. The Mori changes last year, which never came, embodied this idea of dynamic and quick games that could be over without unnecessarily stretching things out. Everyone cried about the Mori changes, even though the only thing being sacrificed would be the terribly boring stretch of already lost games or slugfests (like a slugfest with a single survivor picking everyone up or, in the case of a lost game, someone 4% on hook and picking their team back up again). "Oh, but I could eventually win those losing games!" Maybe. You could also had been in the middle of a whole other match by that time... I don't think anyone likes slugfests, but if you do, power to you.
i completely understand how you feel and I fully support you in your decision. Last year when I had covid I was really sick and had to lay in my bed for whole week alone and that was when i discovered hardcore survivor and watched whole series in like 2 days . I really loved seeing you guys interact with eachother and having blast especially Jrm and Ayrun and their jokes and everything. Its like really good anime or something , I had a feeling I was part of that adventure and when I saw that only last episode was missing and you guys came so close i was tearing up with joy and this overwhelming feeling. Its sad that I probably will never be able to watch series end but im thankful to you for even providing me that type of comfort at exactly the time i needed it do most. I’m all for creators moving on to things the love but it’s so frustrating when they ditch a finale episode when everyone’s been waiting. Why not go out with a bang with one finale goodbye to the game and it’s community (since you’re probably gonna lose 80% of viewers anyway, and from the recent vids..yeah…) Idk, one final goodbye stream/video seems more fitting then whatever this was.

I think the only way you can make it as a content creator on the long run is by staying happy with what you do. If DBD doesn't make you happy anymore (and I understand your reasons why tbh, my time on the game has been dwindling dramatically), then it's the right decision for you! If anyone is reading this, please don't make the same mistake as I did. I started playing DbD in June 2020 when the pandemic started. I played up until early 2023. I put over 2,000 hours into the game and countless watch hours which may be well into 5,000 hours. The point is to never touch this game. The game isn't worth playing and I truly mean that. Run far away from this game. I took the time out of my busy day to write this just to keep a single person from playing this garbage game, so just take my advice and never watch or play it and if you are currently watching or playing it then stop immediately and I promise you'll never regret it.

I started playing in January 2017. I have well over 10k hours in Dead by Daylight. At this point I just start it over a desktop shortcut, because I don't even want to see the time I spent in DBD. I did take a break... From November 2023 to February. I did regret it. The break I mean, not the fact that I play DBD. It's a fun game and if it destroys you so much mentally... You shouldn't even be allowed to play Video games in the first place. It's a game, not some god damn Vicodin

just checked today because i was curious about it. yeah sadly the man easily lost like 90% of his average viewership and that's not even getting involved in the streaming viewership which i can only imagine has also nosedived. current stream he's doing only had like 20 people in it when i remember hopping on around this time before and he'd have at least like 800+ I'm all for pushing for mental health over money but at this point i hope he has the support system that is able to carry him because i dont see him having much sustainability or much channel growth, especially with a game like Dark and Darker

it's unfortunate we won't get the end of hardcore, i'd even love watching an unedited version on twitch (or even here!), but kudos to you and taking care of your mental health! it's more important than this game. you and jrm are actually the first two dbd creators i followed after falling into a dbd pit with friends, initially we got bored with the game after the pitfall...then i found your vids on hardcore and it made us want to play again the TCM game looks suuuper fun (and anxious!), excited to see what other games you end up branching out into, take care dowsey!!
Whats interesting, now 9 months later, is that this video states multiple times that he will be a variety streamer, yet on Twitch every VOD and schedule is Dark and Darker. Im not coming in with hate at all, but it interesting thst he basically just swapped one game for another, and not a variety of games. The big thing to note to me here is that if he stops Dark and Darker his viewer base will most likey plummet again, forcing a 2nd rebuilding. Im not sure how many of those he can sustain. Just an interesting thing I noticed. 🤔
Considering he's gone from getting like 100k-500k views in dbd down to like 1k is pretty much as low as it gets lol the ones left are likely those who just like him and don't care what he plays.
One thing to take away from this is: If a video games community seems soured even after you’ve played 20 hours, it isn’t going to change for YOU for the next 1k hours. “Good news travels slowly, bad new has wings…”
I never talk about fun or unfun metas. Maybe it's because I'm more general, I live in the moment, or because I try to focus on what is fun instead of what's not. I think the meta switch ups that buff a bunch of survivor stuff, with a few notable nerfs, and a bunch of killer nerfs, has spoiled people. You must have mental fortitude if you play this game competitively, because there's so much unfair stuff. And if you're not willing to do that, to play competitive or to tough it out, then you really shouldn't care. You can't get too competitive at a game that you won't train or adapt for; I learned that the hard way.
I only started playing DBD in December 2021 and the first dbd RUclips video I watched was your commentary on a comp Pig vs a comp swf when wondering if this game I was getting into had a comp scene, and I’ve been subbed ever since. Hardcore was genuinely one of the highlights of all of DBD content creation and you should be so proud of all the work you put out there. I’m sorry your dbd journey has ended on such a sour note, and I hope that you can be proud of the DBD chapter in your life and not regret it. But the future definitely looks bright for you and being happy in your content and protecting your mental well-being is the most important thing and it takes courage to make that your priority. They're salty about him quitting, he was massive when he played dbd and easily could've been up there with otzdarva and ayrun as far as popularity goes. His views have gone down like 95% since he left dbd unfortunately.
@improbablytheguy Thats just a subjective opinion on his personality. His numbers were huge for dbd gamers, and he got popular really fast. He went from being a random dude playing dbd to being the one to start the hardcore survivor series with otzdarva, jrm, and ayrun. Regardless of if you liked him or not, he was definitely making money and doing well with his dbd content. He's gone from having 200-500k views on average to like 200-2000 views playing dark and darker. I respect him being able to walk away from the success to pursue happiness, but it was definitely a huge loss in his streaming career.
Great decision and I hope many more will follow. I stopped playing DBD almost a year ago because the game wasn't fun anymore specially for solo players. Its hard because DBD also offers something that not many other games do. I'm also addicted to Deceive Inc. atm its such a fun game. I'm excited to see you play other games!
Hey dowsey, as someone that deals with depression and another big mood disorder, I felt you so much here. The repeated phrasing of “I just couldn’t” is exactly how I try to explain my own depression every time. I felt you SO much there. Hopefully there’s some solace in knowing that at least some of your viewers are 100% understanding with you.
I know that this is much after this video’s release, but I wanted to put this out there for no real reason. When I had started I was a very aimless killer main, I couldn’t understand what I did wrong other than the basics, but when I found your channel was when that changed, you were a guiding light to me, and something to strive to be like in terms of skill, matter of fact I still have your “best builds” for some killers, unfortunately mostly due to neglect. Now, I’m also like you where I don’t really touch the game anymore, only difference being I touch it on rare occasions, but I don’t really get much joy out of doing so. Anyways, the only point I’m trying to get across is I appreciate all that you taught me, and the time you spent on the game to show me something, even if it wasn’t really made for me specifically. I wish you best of luck, and I’ll check out some of your other content from time to time.
It's important as a content creator to have a transition/contingency plan. It's a business and putting all your eggs in one product (DBD) basket is a bad idea.

I believe most people who play DBD for any period of time will suffer from mental health issues. The game is so frustrating, annoying , stressful and not enjoyable at times but it’s always addictive. I’ve deleted dbd for the 50x today because of the video. Thanks

Good on you for sticking up for yourself and your happiness. I quit DbD (both playing and 99% of watching) back on Feb. 1st and haven't looked back. I've been so much happier with the other things I've moved on to. Wishing you all the best with the new adventures in your future!
I think during the course of COVID, seeing content creators that decided to take advantage of the lockdowns one by one drop out of content creation or burn out and take long breaks started a movement. I think it showed people that even if you started out enjoying something, we are human. So many people suffer from mental health issues and they are becoming more prominent in our various communities and it does my heart SO MUCH GOOD to see videos like this of people putting their foot down and saying things like "Yeah, this isn't gonna happen because I DO. NOT. ENJOY. IT." Content creation is entertainment at it's core, and if the entertainers are miserable the entertainment value will suffer with them because they ARE the content when in front of the camera or behind the keys or wherever you make your content.
Well yeah when people have been with a game for a while and also made a living off playing it, it’s going to be hard to quit. It is a struggle for many people to realise when they don’t truly like something anymore and when people just belittle you it creates a feeling that nobody will be happy

It’s sad to hear especially considering your Hardcore Survivor series was one, if not the most entertaining series on RUclips for DBD, but I’m happy that you are doing something that makes you feel more content. It’s tough because with content creators it often feels like they’re forced to be tied to one product and sometimes it shows in their face and expressions that they’re not really having fun with it anymore, so full respect to those that risk viewership in order to do something that makes them feel more engaged and happier.

I feel for you man, and I know you're going through it, but DBD was your bread and butter. Why set something in stone so strictly when you don't have to? Why not just post DBD content on occasion when you feel like it? What did Behavior do that was so upsetting to you to just quit completely? No it’s a trash game for survivor mains. What incentive do I have to play when the killer can bring basic add ons and dominate every minute of the game? What’s the point of playing of my teammates don’t care about ranking up or escaping? I’ve tried killer and it’s so easy it’s dumb. If I wanted to obliterate every match as a killer I could.
No, you got it wrong. In short, BHVR had turned dbd miserable. Not to mention any fixes for DDOSING. Completely understandable to leave a game that could have you get swatted.

@@Billyjoe888bro I have 3k with killer and 2k with survivor. Survivors always run the game. The higher the mmr the harder it is to get 3-4 kills consistently. Killer always has disadvantage, unless constantly using crazy add ons
@@MotionGravity yeah and as a killer with high mmr you play actual teams who are in voice chat with eachother. Solo queueing is impossible for survivors and therefore why I stopped playing.

It honestly feels more like a toxic relationship than playing a game at this point. The community is awful. The game is unfun. The developers care so little and understand their own game even less. this is a s*** take if i ever saw one lmao... anyone who has followed Dowsey for an extensive amount of time, or even played the game for a year or more knows he's speaking the truth. DBD has gone down the drain because the dev's haven't listened to any suggestion at all, they're fine doing their own thing. Which is cool. The beautiful thing about capitalism is that it all comes out in the wash. DBD has lost a lot of players due to their direction over the past year and will continue to do so. He didn’t lose it for no reason however, it was honestly so toxic how every single day he’d post a video of just straight negativity. You can criticize something without being just purely negative. Rather than stating the issue and his expected reaction to it or even presenting a possible solution, he would go too far into it, ripping into the devs and the game, when there have hardly been any issues to exist in dbd’s run that were that serious. I do think criticism is important for ever changing games like dbd, as it keeps things changing and improving, I do think there’s a point where it’s not just constructive criticism, it’s just mean and hateful.

Right...but wasn't this the whole point of the UI changes for survivor? To ADRESS this divede between solo and swf?
Also, the "meta" may be currently in a position I'm not really on board, but this past years has been all but stale. The devs changed 40+ perks; yes, it made much of the old mindsets stronger, but the tendency is for changes to continue.
I believe Behavior wants each game to be more quick, dynamic. But you can't make gens have the possibility to be done within 5 minutes and expect the killer not to go for tunnels.
The Mori changes last year, which never came, embodied this idea of dynamic and quick games that could be over without unnecessarily stretching things out.
Everyone cried about the Mori changes, even though the only thing being sacrificed would be the terribly boring stretch of already lost games or slugfests (like a slugfest with a single survivor picking everyone up or, in the case of a lost game, someone 4% on hook and picking their team back up again).
"Oh, but I could eventually win those losing games!" Maybe. You could also had been in the middle of a whole other match by that time...
I don't think anyone likes slugfests, but if you do, power to you.
i completely understand how you feel and I fully support you in your decision. Last year when I had covid I was really sick and had to lay in my bed for whole week alone and that was when i discovered hardcore survivor and watched whole series in like 2 days . I really loved seeing you guys interact with eachother and having blast especially Jrm and Ayrun and their jokes and everything. Its like really good anime or something , I had a feeling I was part of that adventure and when I saw that only last episode was missing and you guys came so close i was tearing up with joy and this overwhelming feeling. Its sad that I probably will never be able to watch series end but im thankful to you for even providing me that type of comfort at exactly the time i needed it do most. I wish you good luck in future and thanks for everything you did for this community

I think the only way you can make it as a content creator on the long run is by staying happy with what you do. If DBD doesn't make you happy anymore (and I understand your reasons why tbh, my time on the game has been dwindling dramatically), then it's the right decision for you! If anyone is reading this, please don't make the same mistake as I did. I started playing DbD in June 2020 when the pandemic started. I played up until early 2023. I put over 2,000 hours into the game and countless watch hours which may be well into 5,000 hours. The point is to never touch this game. The game isn't worth playing and I truly mean that. Run far away from this game. I took the time out of my busy day to write this just to keep a single person from playing this garbage game, so just take my advice and never watch or play it and if you are currently watching or playing it then stop immediately and I promise you'll never regret it.

I started playing in January 2017. I have well over 10k hours in Dead by Daylight. At this point I just start it over a desktop shortcut, because I don't even want to see the time I spent in DBD. I did take a break... From November 2023 to February.
I did regret it. The break I mean, not the fact that I play DBD. It's a fun game and if it destroys you so much mentally... You shouldn't even be allowed to play Video games in the first place.

just checked today because i was curious about it. yeah sadly the man easily lost like 90% of his average viewership and that's not even getting involved in the streaming viewership which i can only imagine has also nosedived. current stream he's doing only had like 20 people in it when i remember hopping on around this time before and he'd have at least like 800+
I'm all for pushing for mental health over money but at this point i hope he has the support system that is able to carry him because i dont see him having much sustainability or much channel growth, especially with a game like Dark and Darker

I feel you, Dowsey, I've practically quit DBD as well, only play it when certain friends invite me, whihc is like once every fortnight, game isn't what it used to be.

it's unfortunate we won't get the end of hardcore, i'd even love watching an unedited version on twitch (or even here!), but kudos to you and taking care of your mental health! it's more important than this game. you and jrm are actually the first two dbd creators i followed after falling into a dbd pit with friends, initially we got bored with the game after the pitfall...then i found your vids on hardcore and it made us want to play again
the TCM game looks suuuper fun (and anxious!), excited to see what other games you end up branching out into, take care dowsey!!
Whats interesting, now 9 months later, is that this video states multiple times that he will be a variety streamer, yet on Twitch every VOD and schedule is Dark and Darker. Im not coming in with hate at all, but it interesting thst he basically just swapped one game for another, and not a variety of games. The big thing to note to me here is that if he stops Dark and Darker his viewer base will most likey plummet again, forcing a 2nd rebuilding. Im not sure how many of those he can sustain.

Considering he's gone from getting like 100k-500k views in dbd down to like 1k is pretty much as low as it gets lol the ones left are likely those who just like him and don't care what he plays.
One thing to take away from this is:
If a video games community seems soured even after you’ve played 20 hours, it isn’t going to change for YOU for the next 1k hours.

I never talk about fun or unfun metas. Maybe it's because I'm more general, I live in the moment, or because I try to focus on what is fun instead of what's not. I think the meta switch ups that buff a bunch of survivor stuff, with a few notable nerfs, and a bunch of killer nerfs, has spoiled people. You must have mental fortitude if you play this game competitively, because there's so much unfair stuff. And if you're not willing to do that, to play competitive or to tough it out, then you really shouldn't care. You can't get too competitive at a game that you won't train or adapt for; I learned that the hard way.
He will be back in few months folks. DBD owns his soul, struggling against it is futile.

I only started playing DBD in December 2021 and the first dbd RUclips video I watched was your commentary on a comp Pig vs a comp swf when wondering if this game I was getting into had a comp scene, and I’ve been subbed ever since. Hardcore was genuinely one of the highlights of all of DBD content creation and you should be so proud of all the work you put out there. I’m sorry your dbd journey has ended on such a sour note, and I hope that you can be proud of the DBD chapter in your life and not regret it. But the future definitely looks bright for you and being happy in your content and protecting your mental well-being is the most important thing and it takes courage to make that your priority. They're salty about him quitting, he was massive when he played dbd and easily could've been up there with otzdarva and ayrun as far as popularity goes. His views have gone down like 95% since he left dbd unfortunately.

@improbablytheguy Thats just a subjective opinion on his personality. His numbers were huge for dbd gamers, and he got popular really fast. He went from being a random dude playing dbd to being the one to start the hardcore survivor series with otzdarva, jrm, and ayrun. Regardless of if you liked him or not, he was definitely making money and doing well with his dbd content. He's gone from having 200-500k views on average to like 200-2000 views playing dark and darker. I respect him being able to walk away from the success to pursue happiness, but it was definitely a huge loss in his streaming career.

Great decision and I hope many more will follow. I stopped playing DBD almost a year ago because the game wasn't fun anymore specially for solo players.
Its hard because DBD also offers something that not many other games do. I'm also addicted to Deceive Inc. atm its such a fun game.

Hey dowsey, as someone that deals with depression and another big mood disorder, I felt you so much here. The repeated phrasing of “I just couldn’t” is exactly how I try to explain my own depression every time. I felt you SO much there. Hopefully there’s some solace in knowing that at least some of your viewers are 100% understanding with you.
I know that this is much after this video’s release, but I wanted to put this out there for no real reason. When I had started I was a very aimless killer main, I couldn’t understand what I did wrong other than the basics, but when I found your channel was when that changed, you were a guiding light to me, and something to strive to be like in terms of skill, matter of fact I still have your “best builds” for some killers, unfortunately mostly due to neglect. Now, I’m also like you where I don’t really touch the game anymore, only difference being I touch it on rare occasions, but I don’t really get much joy out of doing so. Anyways, the only point I’m trying to get across is I appreciate all that you taught me, and the time you spent on the game to show me something, even if it wasn’t really made for me specifically. I wish you best of luck, and I’ll check out some of your other content from time to time.
It's important as a content creator to have a transition/contingency plan. It's a business and putting all your eggs in one product (DBD) basket is a bad idea.

I believe most people who play DBD for any period of time will suffer from mental health issues. The game is so frustrating, annoying , stressful and not enjoyable at times but it’s always addictive. I’ve deleted dbd for the 50x today because of the video. Thanks

Good on you for sticking up for yourself and your happiness. I quit DbD (both playing and 99% of watching) back on Feb. 1st and haven't looked back. I've been so much happier with the other things I've moved on to. Wishing you all the best with the new adventures in your future!

I think during the course of COVID, seeing content creators that decided to take advantage of the lockdowns one by one drop out of content creation or burn out and take long breaks started a movement. I think it showed people that even if you started out enjoying something, we are human. So many people suffer from mental health issues and they are becoming more prominent in our various communities and it does my heart SO MUCH GOOD to see videos like this of people putting their foot down and saying things like "Yeah, this isn't gonna happen because I DO. NOT. ENJOY. IT." Content creation is entertainment at it's core, and if the entertainers are miserable the entertainment value will suffer with them because they ARE the content when in front of the camera or behind the keys or wherever you make your content.
You keep saying you're done, when will you actually be done? Seems like you're just stirring the drama pot again for video clicks.
Well yeah when people have been with a game for a while and also made a living off playing it, it’s going to be hard to quit. It is a struggle for many people to realise when they don’t truly like something anymore and when people just belittle you it creates a feeling that nobody will be happy

And when you have tried all the others I think you’ve reached the only decision that could be made
I'm so frikin proud of you for taking this step, and it's the way of content creation. I think dbd has become that source of sadness and irritation for a lot of us and by you doing this, you've just helped so many people make the same decision and help themselves the way you are.
