    Are you a part of team Carlos? This video is the first of my series where I will be helping new survivors and killers with some tips, guides and stuff I will make in the future, due to the influx of new players as part of the playstation extra and Resident Evil DLC! Also, this video in specific is aimed towards new players, so if you are experienced and have any tips I didn't mention, make sure to comment them down below! I will credit those tips I didn't know in future parts!

    That killer tip about chases is quite useful. A lot of newer killers spend all game chasing 1 person getting mad at the person for outplaying them and one of two things happen. All the generators get done and everyone escapes with the killer having very little hooks. Or the really good player get caught and camped out by the killer who is now frustrated and angry.
    I find ending a chase early even if you don't catch them quite useful for multiple reasons. I don't want to waste my time with 1 person when there are 3 other completing objectives. It keeps me from losing my cool and keeps me level headed, allowing me to devise future plans. And most importantly,the survivor who stops getting chased early might get overconfident which will make them make mistakes. And trust me. An overconfident survivor will make mistakes.
    Just remember 3 sacrificed survivors and letting the 1 you despise go is better than 1 or no sacrifices.

      As a killer, if I see a mid/high level survivor, I'll take a memento Mori and get rid of them ASAP. Ghostface as my main is handy with this because marking is very effective at getting them down.

    • @miningfordiamonds7978
      @miningfordiamonds7978 2 года назад +4

      If i'm playing a good killer that can end a chase early like wesker, spirit, nurse, pyramid head, huntress and sometimes blight. It's very hard to overextend if you're good with either of those killers, and you will end the chase quickly.
      However for the other killers that do not have such a good chase kit, i would say you can play alot more chaotic. I'll list the ones i have experience with below and tips for each.
      As wraith you can get a hit, stealth then reappear at another survivor doing gen and down him instead if he is in a bad spot. Try to body block alot
      As trapper you can bait alot of survivors and it's almost always unecessary to chase someone into an area where you don't have traps or no traps on you.
      As hilbilly if you're in an area with many windows pallets and the survivor is kiting you, find a survivor in a worse spot to chainsaw.
      Hag is sort of like trapper but you can chain chase, so you chase someone but a trap got activated, you immediately tp to the trap get a free hit on a survivor caught off guard and probably has a worse area
      As the doctor only if you're using addons otherwise his ability is bad. Roam around find survivors with static blast, initiate a chase, mix between madness and hits. If you overextend go increase madness on anyone else and if you're using the illusionary pellet addon, your mission is to get the first chase to drop as many pallets as possible and break them so future chases will become very easy.
      As nemesis you will most likely try to wound someone then infect them, if you cannot manage to wound, infect them and find someone else to infect to increase mutation, and you never want to just extend a chase if you're not mutation 2-3
      As clown you have to overextend, unless you're using really really good perks. Clown is just bad, can shorten chases a bit but that's it.

    • @miningfordiamonds7978
      @miningfordiamonds7978 2 года назад +2

      @@spicysalad3013 it's bad without addons. It becomes good with addons. You slow yourself down during a chase and take a high risk on hitting the survivor, and if the survivor is good you have to struggle to get a hit.
      Without addons madness I or II also doesn't do anything useful at all other than getting survivors closer to III
      You still have static blast which is really good for info but his chase just becomes worse than the clown or even trapper without the addons.
      I know you can cancel survivors from dropping pallets/vaulting but survivors can see you do it and start running in a different direction etc. Also getting to madness III in a chase doesn't matter much without addons as you can still just loop the doctor alot or hold w whenever he charges.

    Something that should also be said about the shrine tip and spending your shards is that every year dead by daylight has an anniversary event and typically all the characters (except maybe new ones) go for 50% off. And despite this the shrine is really good if you only want one perk from a survivor (even at the price of 2000 shards). With most survivors only having one good perk it would be stupid to buy them all and ignore the shrine.

    While I agree on the border thing, you should also say that if you know you're going down regardless, it's better to die on the edge of the map far away from hooks than to die in the middle of it right next to a hook. There's a reason it's called the comp corner.

    • @alonsyy
      @alonsyy Год назад +6

      This probably works even more so when the offering that decreases distance between hooks is in play

  • @8888ebra
    @8888ebra 10 месяцев назад +5

    I know it's been over a year since this video came out, but I want to add some things that weren't mentioned for some tips:
    4 - borders are really good when you need to take killer away from gens, because it's the farthest part of the map that has some kind of loops, that can win a little time if you're lucky enough (especially borders are helpful against nurse), also you can die in corner of a map so the killer need to carry you on a hook much longer
    5 - you need to learn to assess the situation and understand when it's better to predrop pallet to gain distance, and when it's better not to drop it at all, it will come with experience (don't be greedy, assess the situation, take risks)
    6 - pallet vacuums are risky, because when you do this, your hitbox increase and killer can hit you if he swings at the right time

  • @canadiankazz

    The border is also bad because red scratch marks show up really well against it. Never run along the wall if you're trying to be stealthy.

  • @KnifeToMeetYou_
    @KnifeToMeetYou_ 2 года назад +52

    For early game, I agree that you should never go to the edges of the map as that's free pressure for the killer, but for mid-Late game, a smart survivor can waste the killer's time by taking chase and running to the edges of the map, buying their teammates enough time to make good progress on the last gens.

  • @jos8009
    @jos8009 2 года назад +46

    Also if you stay near the map borders, the scratch marks will be easier to see for the killer on a outside map from an afar

  • @dignusdingus3709
    @dignusdingus3709 2 года назад +17

    For generators my strategy is to usually rush any close to the middle if it's safe enough, or if we happen tp get one done at shack.etc I then try to do them in a sort of straight line, try to make this big deadzone to waste the Killer's time travelling. This tends to leave one side with two gens and a single on the other side of the map with 2 left to do, so then I prioritise getting the one closest to the other done (or get progress up on both) which still makes it hard for the killer to patrol the one further away.

  • @TrickTails
    @TrickTails 2 года назад +15

    A counter-argument to point 4 is buying time for your team. If you know you're going to go down, go into the corner of the map. Especially if you 3-genned then run to the opposite side. If they give up chase, that's good for you. You can reconvene to heal or work on one of the other gens.

    On Azarov wrecking yard, it is a guarantee that there will be a generator in the main gas station building in the garage, so if you get the squad to role up its a good first gen. And when you exit through the front you'll see obstacles with a pallet to the left of that should be a few rocks there should be a gen in that direction and usually one in the back of that building, and if you turn right once exiting the front same should apply.

    I'm a little confused about the Shrine tip, in terms of survivors. If you're not going for the character cosmetically, isn't it cheaper to see if you can purchase perks thru the Shrine? Purchasing all 3 Perks would cost 6000 iri instead of 9000 for the character, and you can upgrade the perks in an individual's bloodweb

    • @Timely7
      @Timely7 2 года назад +23

      I mean technically you are correct but the logistics of this actually happening will take awhile. the shrine is random so buying the character with shards guarantee's that you can get the three perks, now if you just wanted one perk from a charter and you see it in the shrine pick it up but if you want more than one perk then you should just buy the person who has them since the shrine is random. but i mean if you wanna wait go ahead but by the time you get all three perks of that person in the shrine of secrets ill have all my survivors prestige 20 by that time.

    • @MintSkull
      @MintSkull  2 года назад +45

      Technically it's cheaper but you are stuck with the tier 1 perks of that survivor for the rest of the cast, or, if you want to upgrade the perk to tier 2, it costs 4K iridescent shards which is an absolutely crazy amount of shards (And 6K for tier 3) . If you are focused on only one survivor for the rest of the game, then yeah, buying one perk from the shrine is a good investment, but on the long run, having all perks on tier 3 for any new character is a luxury that people that get perks from the shrine cannot get.

    Depending on the killer, 3-genning can be strong or weak. For instance, Huntress can easily down someone around the gens, while Trapper has to chase them away. They'd go completely opposite direction from the gens and give others time to repair them. If you go back, it'd keep the game going for a very long time.

      3 gen on any killer that has the ability to use range are useful. I play a 3 gen Doctor and a 3 gen Artist and literally never leave the 3 gen from start to finish. I have had extremely successful games because of range detection paired with gen regression perks (3k or 4k every game.) Survivors frequently make more mistakes in a 3 gen, especially if they made the mistake of never being near the terror radius for the first 4 gens to identify perks or see if the killer is AFK or willing to leave an area.
      An M1 killer can't pressure a 3 gen effectively, but it certainly helps the killer not have to go on a search for survivors.

    bonus note on the crows, they'll only fly off if you're running or walking close by. walking or crouching doesn't alert them and or has a smaller chance to do so. in short terms- treat the situation as if the killer has "spies from the shadows" equipped even if they don't-
    (this is what i picked up on/remembered from past experience. i've just gotten into the game again after a year or two without playing)

    imo with the new update, the shrine is still pretty worth it in scenerios where you want a perk immediately or something along those lines. Spending 10k shards isn't necessary unless you're desperate for tier 3 on a perk. One you buy it once for 2k, it will be given to you at tier 1 for all survivors or killers (depending on which perk it is) and then you can easily unlock the next few tiers from the bloodweb. It's what I've been doing since they introduced the new prestige system. I've prestiged about 10 characters since the new update to P1, and It's been amazing. I have tons of perks now for every surviver and killer, and when I do start progressing a new character I end up with tier 3 perks for practically every perk by the time I'm able to prestige that new character. So basically remember that it's not a requirement to get prestige 3 for tier 3 perks on all characters (unless you really want to tackle that grind). You can still play whoever you want and unlock the next tiers through the blood web. Great video :) !

  • @Polomance862
    @Polomance862 2 года назад +1

    The Shrine isn't quite a scam; but rather is a tool to help progress perks and lessen the Prestige grind for all characters. Perhaps there's one perk you really want but don't want to grind out Clown for Bamboozle. You can use your shards to instantly unlock a tier on all killers you own, and lessen the amount of time needed to get that perk to tier 3.
    Crows are also useful for survivors as Killers will trigger crows just as well. If you're playing against a stealth killer, crows can help you indicate who might be coming your way.

  • @themr_wilson

    As a killer main, I already knew most of the tips you gave for that. However my cousins are trying to get me to play more survivor, so those tips help.
    On a side note, if I’m trying to focus on a single killer (or survivor), and I just want one perk from another character without having to take the time to prestige that character, isn’t it a good idea to use the Shrine? For instance I have used it a couple of times for certain perks from characters I don’t care about. I don’t have Bubba, I don’t want Bubba, but BBQ is a good perk, so when it popped up in the Shrine, I went ahead and got it.
    I didn’t really use the shrine a lot until recently when they changed the way you unlocked perks. I really hate the way they did that btw. I was one level away from unlocking Thanatophobia from Nurse then they changed it to the prestige system and may it so much more difficult.

      In the end its all personal preference. I like to have all survivors and killers unlocked eventually, since i play both sides. And when i unlock a new killer i prestige them until i got all perks. But if you are not interested in a character and just want the perks, and you're lucky that the one you want shows up in the Shrine it's no problem to go for that instead. Compared it'll just cost more if you decide you want the characters afterwards.

    I have not used the shrine of secrets once since they released the ingame store. Before that, the shrine was the only thing you could use iri shards on and iri shards were capped at 1000. So I (and I guess most people) exchanged their iri shards for bloodpoints rather than stay at the cap and waste them. Maybe that sheds some light on why the bloodpoint exchange is a thing at all for newer players.

    I don't know if it's actually a useful tip but I do just run around starting gens because when killers get to them especially early or end game the killer camps around that Gen so you have every gen started they're going to take two times visiting every gen. Then also always try to keep an eye on the killers direction. If you see the killer running towards you all while working on a gen. Run towards the killer than run in an opposite direction. That 5 secs in you can completely finish the gen. Also it's always better to be seen at a distance than up close. Or if you know your being stalked run one way till you know there's probably enough stuff to block the killers view of you. If they stay watching stand still let your scratch marks dry up and once they head towards you head back the way you came try to walk in the open and run around rocks to hide or distort your scratch marks. Also if you hear the killers terror radius farther than normal use your scratch marks to your advantage run one way then walk the opposite way and hide. Always leads the killer away

    1: at 2:06, The generator in the science room didn’t spawn because it’s not actually a guaranteed spawn, regardless of whether you’re in a custom game or not. There’s a high chance of it spawning there because there aren’t many generator spawns on that map but it’s not always.
    2: I agree with the shrine being a scam but I’d also say that spending shards to get a perk on a free character is still a waste. You only have to get that character to P1 to get all of their perks unlocked on all characters. Thats my opinion at least.
    3: if you know you’re going to go down, it’s ok to go to the edge of the map to go down. You’re buying yourself and your team quite a bit of time because on almost all maps (not swamp or indoor maps really), there aren’t hooks on the outside, so the killer has to walk further to get to a hook.

  • @eageraurora879
    @eageraurora879 2 года назад

    Regarding the hook situation, I was able to escape the grasp of a wesker 3 times in a row and escape with one other person who did the same as well, because he used up the two hooks that where on the same side of the map. He camped one side and In the end all the surrounding generators got finished while the two closest hooks to the door where destroyed. To make matters worse for him the last generator was now i hook dead zone. He downed me and the other remaining survivor 3 times but every time we managed to escape and run all the way back to finish and escape. While camping is a viable strategy sometimes, it I'd important to remember that as a killer you can accidentally box yourself into a situation that is unwinnable

  • @DustTheOtter
    @DustTheOtter 2 года назад

    Regarding map borders on normal maps, if there’s absolutely nowhere to go, it can be a good idea to run to a corner of the map, because hooks tend to spawn a little bit further away from those areas and can waster a few extra seconds.
    Also, regarding pallets, unless you’re going against specific killers, like Oni, for example, you should almost never drop a pallet while healthy.

    Only listen to #4 if you are in chase. If not, it's a great place to hide. Stealth is your friend in this game. As a Nea main who actually uses Nea as intended, I get generators up and unhook my friends and hardly ever have to deal with a chase. Killers don't normal search the edges of the map, so it's a safe place to travel. (It works the same in hide and seek w/ roblox, Minecraft, and even IRL.) It will NOT be safe though if you don't know how to use stealth to your advantage. Most people panic playing this game, but it's best to relax and analyze the situation.

    The shrine: I've only used it to grab perks for killers you can't buy any more- it's great for that.
    As for ''skilled' loopers, unless they're focused on harassing you, don't waste time chasing- walk away and, if sporting a stealth/oblivious perk and using it right, pluck them off a gen instead. ;)
    Truthfully, many survivors are overconfident and weak to mind games- I've lost count of the number of tea-bagging, flash-lighting goaders who became the first sacrifice in a trial. The worst are the ones who accuse you of tunnelling after spending their short lives baiting you. Also, nobody expects an iridescent hatchet to the face from half way across the map- damn, I love the Huntress!
    One of my most memorable kills was a serial hook-saboteur who didn't notice I'd dropped the survivor I was carrying- they ended up on the hook they were trying to sabo', then I let the other survivor wriggle free after picking them up again, only for them to run away and leave the saboteur to die. I tried not to feel bad as I'm happy to take an easy hook when it's offered, but I hate it when survivors leave each other to die. In fact, I usually don't 4K unless that happens- I'm selectively breeding altruistic survivors now...

    So another side of this tip for survivors: Don't make it too obvious, that you're trying to waste time. Especially with teabagging.

    Perhaps it is the case on other platforms, but on the mobile version Midwich's Music Room and Science Room rarely have a generator spawn inside. Initially, both would spawn almost every game, while other times only one would. After some point though they have near never been, at least from my experience. For the Library, a generator on either floor seems guaranteed, but totem spawn is more questionable in those rooms.

  • @panicwolf8586

    I'd say that if you really want to get a bothersome Survivor, you just commit, and don't do mind games. You WILL eventually catch up, especially on Midwich, being so small and (I'm not 100% on this) having the least amount of pallets for Survivors to use.
    Also, Lightborn is more useful than you'd think, as some people are just so dumb they keep trying to blind you even after 10 whole seconds (I was stunned, kicked a pallet, and walking slowly to a Survivor shining their flashlight at my face, and they didn't run away after even 5 seconds of me not getting blinded, and I didn't even try to hide Lightborn, I just stared at them, and let's just say they were downed).
    If you see a team you suspect will use flashlights a lot, Lightborn is invaluable since it removes a whole weapon from their side, you can't be blinded, and I think you also get points if you get flash mined, as it thinks you evaded the light due to not getting blinded.
