I began hunting in 1979 at 12 y/o but Indiana didn't have much of a deer population. I began deer hunting in 1990 just after being discharged from the Navy along with my Dad, his best friend, myself and my best friend. My knowledge of field dressing a deer was from a VHS tape. Opening morning I shot a button buck and my b/f shot a doe. Brian, my buddy, shot his early so we began field dressing his doe, both of us were quite hungover which didn't help. After making what we thought were all of the necessary cuts we turned the yearling doe over. No matter how much we shook her the necessary items weren't coming out. The landowners son came over with a 4 wheeler. After explaining our dilemma to the 12 y/o boy he grabbed his buck knife from the case on his hip, let's just say two 22 y/o young men felt quite small when our assistant lifted the trophy doe onto the 4 wheeler without our assistance.

.243 but I didn’t shoot it near as well as he did that .44 Golden Boy. He was running that lever action like he was the sheriff taking out bank robbers in a western.

Kid shoots better than 90% of the people in most deer drive videos. Congrats on a nice buck and great shooting!

Probably the most mature little man ever. Drops a buck still doesn’t get worked up and excited until all the action is over. Absolutely amazing you made a great hunter 👍🏻 congrats buddy

My first deer rifle was a hand me down from my grandfather. He was the greatest man I have ever known. It was a sears roebuck lever action 30-30 with a 3x9 bushnell scope. I hunted with that rifle every yr for 18 years. Showing him pics of the deer I got every yr. The yr he died was the last time it went out. I took the pic to the cemetery to show him like I did every yr before. I just couldn’t bring myself to use it the following yr

Great shooting! My first deer rifle was a .32 Winchester lever action. Just a hair bigger than the .30/.30

Good ole Marlin lever 30/30 . Luke is beyond his years as a woodsman carries himself and rifle amazingly. Congrats on a great buck!

First rifle deer was on a push when I was about the same age as Luke! Love seeing him get set up, breaking branches and getting ready, he’s been taught right!

My first deer rifle was a 243. 25 years later I’m still using it. Gets the job done year after year. Great video

Man that kid showed incredible poise, marksmanship, and gun handling skills. Very impressive. I know very few adults who are that calm and methodical if put in that same situation.
