I hit a 6 point like that with a compound. Never found him either, I gave up when his tracks had bear tracks over his. I was really bummed but I wasn't fighting a bear for him so that was some relief

I have only lost one deer in archery season since 1980. And I've taken at least one deer during archery season every year that I've hunted with a bow. First off I never have a 10 yard pin! I always shot 15, 25, 35, 45, and 55 yard pins set. Secondly I never shot at a deer over 25 yards. Thirdly, I always aimed at the very bottom of the deer at the range that it was at. I was shooting a bow that I made a overdraw for. So I was only shooting a 26.5 inch arrow. By shooting a shorter arrow I could also shoot a lighter arrow. So instead of shooting a xx75 2117, I was shooting a xx75 2114. This all Transpired because I had a deer duck a arrow at 28 yards out of my bow set at 68lbs and spitting arrows out rather fast for back then. You have gotta keep something in mind here. Sound travels at around 1060 to 1100 feet per second. Let's say that a arrow if traveling 300 fps, or let's say close to 1/3rd the speed of sound. The deer can hear your bow come down long before your arrow gets to it, and a deer can duck a full body height in 3 tenths of a second! Now do the math, and tell me how far that deer can drop after hearing your bow come down before your arrow gets to the target!!!

CenterPoint makes real good crossbows under $400, I think a CenterPoint Dusk Hunter 370 is in the 200 dollar range, I use one, I robinhooded bolts with it at around 25 yards, so it'll definitely put venison on the table. Shoots decently straight for up to roughly... 40ish yards I'd say yards too before you gotta start using the 2nd, 3rd, n 4th line.. at about 40-45 yards I had to aim pretty much with the second line on the scope when target shooting. I would not push it past 40 yards though, it is a crossbow, and the bolt will plummet quick after the 35-40 yard mark, also wind plays a big factor when long range shooting with a crossbow

I have used all the heads out there, including the one you just used, and by far the GR get more blood on the ground, do more damage and fly better than anything else I have ever used. Shoots smooth, and mine has robin hooded bolts more than once at my house. I wouldn't trade it for anything. To hell with a Ravin or tenpoint. These kill just as quick. Their built nice too. The Barnett recurves are nice as well within 30 yards. A bit slower but they still kill.i have one of those also. There is no excuse for not finding a wounded deer. You’re a lazy hunter.

According to the Barnett specs, this is not a legal crossbow to use in NY. Not sure I would be posting this video. I don't agree with the NY laws in regards to crossbows but they are there.

It is a 160# draw with 20” bolts. It is within the minimum and maximum peak draw weights as well as the parameters for bolt length. In addition it meets both the minimum width and length guidelines. Research was done prior to the hunt to ensure the legality.

@@adamgorsline8950 but it is only 16.5axle to axle length which is smaller than the stupid NY requirements. You might have done research but you missed that.

@@adamgorsline8950 just found your channel, enjoying your videos, but unfortunately he could be right… a NY legal crossbow needs to be 17” limb tip to limb tip when de-cocked not including the cams. So depending on how Barnett measured their width you could have an issue. Might get lucky if they measure axle to axle.

The manufacturer spec is an axel to axel measurement. The outer limb to outer limb measurement on this bow is 17.5”.

@@RipnStikOutdoors Glad to hear it! Some of NY’s hunting laws don’t make a whole lot of sense. DEC loves their fine print. Great content, happy hunting!

What’s the point in murdering animals for fun

its not murder. its called wildlife conservation. Those of us that hunt do it for food on the table.

By definition, you can only murder a HUMAN... Hunting and fishing does require the harvesting (killing) of animals, yes... but so do lots of actual popular sports like horse racing, and bullfighting. People kill animals, animals kill people; people kill people, animals kill animals.. just because you have a social media opinion and drive a prius and live in fairy tale land doesn't mean everyone does. Life is so easy for humans in 2021....
