Also check out last year's Nowruz song: ruclips.net/video/kJKoqoSt7wo/видео.html Music & vocals by Farya Faraji, with more vocals by my mom, and lyrics by Ferdowsi. This is a song I've composed in celebration of our annual Iranian New Year of Nowruz, also celebrated throughout Iran, Afghanistan and Tadjikistan, as well as parts of Central Asia and the Caucasus. Nowruz is celebrated by a wide array of ethnolinguistic groups, some Iranic, like the Persians, Kurds, Baloch, etc, where the celebration originated, and it has spread to other groups such as Turkic groups, Georgians, etc. It originates in the beliefs of pre-Islamic Iranian civilisation, and marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring, on the 21st of March on the Gregorian calendar. The visuals I filmed depict the “Sofre Haftsin,” a collection of objects that are associated culturally with Nowruz. The lyrics are from Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, the Iranian national epic poem that is central to our mythology and culture. The specific section of the story deals with Jamshid’s reign, who was the fourth king of the world in the Shāhnāmeh’s take on Iranian mythology; he was a member of the Pishdadian dynasty, the first of all dynasties to rule the world at the onset of its creation. Lyrics in Early Modern Persian: چو خورشید تابان میان هوا نشسته برو شاه فرمانروا جهان انجمن شد بر تخت او شگفتی فرو مانده از بخت او به جمشید بر گوهر افشاندد مر آن روز را < روز نو> خواندند سرسال نو هرمز فرودین برآسوده از رنج روی زمین بزرگان به شادی بیاراستند می و جام و رامشگران خواستند چنین جشن فرخ از آن روزگار به ما ماند از آن خسروان یادگار Romanised lyrics: Cho khorshid-e tābān miyāne hava, Neshaste bar oo Shāhe farmānrava, Jahān anjoman shod bar takht-e oo, She gefti fooroo mānde az bakhte oo, Be Jamshid bar gohar afshāndand, Marān rooz-rā, rooz-e no, khāndand, Sare sāle no, hormoze farvadin, Barā sood-e az ranj rooye zamin, Bozorgān be shādi byarāstand, Meyo jāmo rāmeshgaran khāstand, Chonin jashne farrokh, az ān roozegār, Be mā mānd az ān Khosrovan yādegar! The fact that I was born in the month when iranians celebrate new year makes me happy and I always saw early spring as a victory of light on dark and cold "spirits" of winter. I always loved the history and persian culture. What's interesting is that we also put wheat to grow in a bowl here in Romania. The bigger it grows the prosperous and healthy the year will be.
@@faryafaraji Oh that's awesome, I love cats and I love ASOIAF! Please do give him a pat from me on some occasion, it is my mission in life to at least spiritually pat every cat.
Thank you very much for this wonderful video as usual as you do 🌹🌹🌹 Four ancient languages I love the most: Greek, Latin, Persian, Armenian. And three kinds of ancient literature, philosophy and civilization I love the most: Persian, Roman Empire, Hellenic-Greek. I am so obsessed 😍 with all this.
The thing about Iranian culture is its expanse and inclusion. You literally can't find anything like it anywhere else. Persians are only a relatively small part of the bigger culture. Nothing else speaks more of the greatness of a culture and once great empire than this. Bravo Farya
That’s so beautiful, soft and powerful on the same time. Greetings and love from Algeria ❤️ Merry Nowruz to you guys. I wish to know more about your culture and religion, which I find beautiful ❤️
Many wishes that your talent breaks all barriers and brings joy to many more people of all cultures. Love that your mom is with you in this one. Stunning scenery and music. HAPPY NOWRUZ to everyone that you love!
