Nowruz e Rūmi - Iranian Song

- Music by Farya Faraji, vocals by Kelareh Kabiri and Farya Faraji. This is this year's original composition to celebrate Nowruz, the Iranian new year, also celebrated throughout Iran, Afghanistan and Tadjikistan, as well as parts of Central Asia and the Caucasus.
Nowruz is celebrated by a wide array of ethnolinguistic groups, some Iranic, like the Persians, Kurds, Baloch, etc, where the celebration originated, and it has spread to other groups such as Turkic groups, Georgians, etc. It originates in the beliefs of pre-Islamic Iranian civilisation, and marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring, on the 21st of March on the Gregorian calendar. The visuals I filmed depict the “Sofre Haftsin,” a collection of objects that are associated culturally with Nowruz.
The lyrics are from a poem by Rumi, one of the most renowned poets of the Persian language. Originally hailing from Khorasan in Iran, he would settle in Anatolia, then called Rum by the Iranians, in reference to the previous Roman rulers of the land before the Seljuks took over.
Lyrics in Early Modern Persian:
دی شد و بهمن گذشت فصل بهاران رسید
جلوه گلشن به باغ همچو نگاران رسید
زحمت سرما و دود رفت به کور و کبود
شاخ گل سرخ را وفت نثاران رسید
باغ ز سرما بکاست شد ز خدا دادخواست
لطف خدا یار شد دولت یاران رسید
وقت نشاط ست و جام خواب کنون شد حرام
اصل طرب ها بزاد شیره فراوان رسید
Translation in English:
The month of Dey has come, Bahmand has gone,
The season of springs has come,
The garden is in full bloom,
As beautiful as your eyes are,
The efforts of cold and smoke,
They have failed and fallen,
The time has come,
For the rose flower's spindle to announce itself,
The garden's cold has left,
It asked for God's help,
And God obliged upon this request,
The state of lovers has now come,
The time of merriment and wine is here,
Sleeping is now haram,
The time of merriment's birth is here,
The time of flowers is upon us.

In our home we celebrate Nowruz by reading a bit of Khayyam. Here;
Come, fill the Cup, and in the Fire of Spring
The Winter Garment of Repentance fling:
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To fly---and Lo! the Bird is on the Wing.
farya pls like your Iranian dude.
and tell him some thing in لری
The Romans had the same tradition of starting the year with the advent of spring even during its monarchic period. Are there any connections with the Iranian one or did they develop independently?
@@Jack-rj4kdIndependent development. The spring equinox would have a natural significance for any pre-modern agricultural society, and most cultures would have a celebration tied to it that would mark a significant point of the year, if not always the beginning
@@faryafaraji Does the poem have a name? I want to research it.
Merry Nowruz to all Iranians and Zoroastrians around the world 🔥🔥🔥

A part your heart is Iranian. Happy Norouz to you.❤
As I now live in a country with grey barren looking winters, I too feel like celebrating Nowruz. Celebrating the coming spring sounds great right now. And we are starting to see the first signs of the new season.
The Iranian playlist is my second favourite playlist after the Eastern Roman one.
I learned about Nowruz a few days ago from my students from Azerbaijan! I think theirs starts on the 20th, and I am so happy to learn about a new spring festival!
Happy Nowruz Persian🦁❤️🔥🇮🇷❤️🔥🇹🇯🫶
Happy nowruz farya! We Kurds and other Iranic people will always celebrate these traditional days❤
Happy Nowroz to all iranian tribes from india❤
During Nowruz In Azerbaijan, we knock doors, throw hats under them and run away and wait until our hats will be filled with sweets, thats like Halloween but different
So cool!
We do this in azeri area of Iran and we do it with scarf.
BAYRAMIN MUBARAK OLSUN YOLDASH ❤🎉
Bayramınız mübarək!
Greetings from Albania, we also celebrate Novruz. 🇦🇱🙌🏻💚
Newroz li we hemûyan pîroz be ✌✌
The way you represent the cultural traditions of all kinds, whether religious or not is such a human experience that's devoid of all the noise of this world. I got sucked in by your Christian music because that's how I was raised, and yet here I am loving Iranian celebrations and Zoroastrian music! I feel like I've really opened up my mind culturally and that's in very large part to your music. Being a Christian doesn't mean I can't enjoy other religions or traditions. Just because you aren't Christian doesn't mean that culture or music is off limits to you and its so refreshing to just freely bathe in the beauty of this world. Such cultural osmosis from people like you is a blessing of our modern world.
You really capture how beautiful humanity is.
Merci Farya, and happy Nowruz!

A happy holiday to two amazingly influential peoples, the Irish and the Iranians, whose cultural echoes reverberate far, far beyond their geographical borders.

I hope that one day Iran will be freed from Islamic rule and return to its ancient gods.
I didn't know Nowruz but bcz of Farya Faraji now I wait every nowruz to listen to that masterpiece
Love it! It'd be really cool if you could make an Assyrian song for Assyrian New Year (Kha Bnison) as that's coming up, or just an Assyrian song in general. Keep it up!
As a Persian Bahá'í Nowruz is a very special time of year both culturally and spirituality. And now i can enjoy it with a new Farya Faraji song
این آهنگ هم خیلی باحال بود یک👌
