Music by Farya Faraji, vocals by Kelareh Kabiri and Farya Faraji. This is an original song I composed for the occasion of Shab-e-Yaldā, the Iranian celebration of the Winter Equinox that goes back thousands of years into native Iranian practices of Antiquity. The lyrics are from a poem by Persian poet Hāfez, regarded by Iranians as one of the greatest Iranian poets of all time. The collection of his work, the Divan-e-Hafez, is a central piece of literature for Shab-e-Yaldā, during which we make a wish, open a page of the book at random, and see how interpreting one of his poems can shed light on whether or not our wish will come true. Lyrics in Classical Persian: بر سر آنم گر زدست برآید دست به کاری زنم که غصه سرآید خلوت دل نیست جای صحبت اضداد دیو چو بیرون رود فرشته درآید صحبت حکام ظلمت شب یلداست نور ز خورشید جوی بو که برآید بلبل عاشق تو عمر خواه که آخر باغ شود سبز و شاخ گل به بر آید غفلت حافظ در این سراچه عجب نیست هرکه به میخانه رفت بی خبر آیدد English translation: I have decided that if I may, I will chase away all sadnesses, My heart is no place for evil ones, Only when the devil leaves, the angel shall come, The speech of evil ones, Is as dark as Yaldā night, Instead, go seek the sun in the light, And hope that it gives you that light, O loving bird, wish for long life, Long enough that you may see the garden in spring, Hafez's lack of foresight is no surprise, All who go to a tavern end up drunk.
This piece is brilliant, the attention to historical accuracy in your music is unparalleled. Especially love your eastern Roman work. As a musician with a great interest in history, I aspire to be as knowledgeable and skilled as you!
I have always enjoyed how in a description of *any* Persian holiday it seems to be required to mention that reading of Hafez is part of the celebration.
Yalda is First Night of Winter and is Longest Night of Year We Iranians and Some Iranic People Celebrate this Night Units Morning and Rise Of Sun , Because It's Birthday of Our Sun God "Mithra" ☀️
I honestly fell in love with this song upon first listen. Too bad that I'm not a movie director - if I was, I would definitely want to use it in the soundtrack of some epic movie.
very interesting description, catchy composition and wholesome inclusion of your mom. Also, this melody for some reason wouldn't sound out of place in a medieval party, the scale is diferent but has the most iconic Dorian intervals. I like this a lot.
Farya made me long for gout, back in _Le Tourdion,_ and gives us a sugar high here, in _The Yaldā of Hāfez._ He also makes us nostalgic for times and places we never dreamt we wished for.
Absolutely wonderful Farya! I may have mentioned previously I'm the Divan of Hafez in the Paul Smith translation for the second time. I read a ghazal each night before retiring. Thank you for this beautiful performance.❤🙏
This might be my favourite song of yours, you get alot of praise for the music but honestly chapeau to the visuals too, you know how to enhance the experience!
On this beloved night, celebrated since the times unremembered, the longest night of the year, the birthday of Mithra, The Izad(angel) of Kindness, Oath, Justice and war; I wish you all endless Kindness, unbreakable Oaths, Justice, Peace and Victory

Man you're a music wizard bro I enjoy it a lot all of you're songs from old Latin to norse and ofcourse this great culture of Iran. Love the history behind it and you're a music and history teacher for me thx for you're great work ❤ from the Netherlands
Very beautiful! I got to visit a yalda event for the first time today at a local library, got to witness a lot of lovely performances of poems, music and dance! The event had been made in a very lovely way, comparing the meanings of yalda and finnish yuletide. shabe yalda mubarak!
Happy yalda to all my brothers and sisters. Hope this year the light will take over the darkness as it goes in avesta.i hope you all had a great yalda with family
@@joundii3100 this guy unironically putting up the flag of a country my granny is older than as a placeholder for the Indus Valley Civilization 😂 man I’d love to see the Greek commentaries on “Pakistanica” or that time Alexander the Great was feted for defeating Porus, who was definitely a Pakistani, or the Arab records on that one time in the 7th century when the Ummayids waged war on the Hindu rulers of Pakistan. Or the part of the Baburnama when the Mughals invaded Pakistan from their base in Afghanistan. Or when the British fought the Pakistani Sikh kingdom of Ranjit Singh, or when Abdul Ghaffar Khan, the Frontier Gandhi, used nonviolent resistance to liberate the ancient nation of Pakistan from colonialism! It’s okay, you have your country now, even if you guys completely messed it up with human development rates somehow even lower than Bangladesh. Do your own thing it’s fine! Just don’t appropriate Indian and collective south Asian culture to yourself. Btw Rakhigarhi, by far the largest Indus site is on this side of the border…
Hit the right spot yet again. Terrific. Question on one comment. " Mother and son." ?? True or not? Please explain. The world needs to know these things.
Wonderful. Respect for both your mother and yourself. I have no cure for the troubles of the world presently, but music, in all its glory must be a factor. Please keep up the work.

Curiously, it is also almost identical to the popular Baroque music of Spain, I suppose they have very similar origins
