The Achaemenids - Epic Iranian Music

Music and vocals by Farya Faraji. Artwork by Joan Francesc Oliveras Palerolls-if you like Iranian history, be sure to check out his artwork; his drawings are the best visual reconstructions of ancient Iranians I've ever seen on the net: www.artstation.com/jfoliveras...
The Achaemenids were the dynasty who supplanted the previous Median Empire, and established the first Persian Empire in Iranian history, called the Achaemenid Empire. The text being sung is taken from what we call the DNa inscription (Darius Naqsh-e Rustam Inscription). It is the inscription found on his tomb in the royal Naksh-e Rostam necropolis.
Keep in mind that this isn't actual Ancient Iranian music or anything even remotely resembling it-the music of Ancient Iran is completely lost to us, and this is a modern symphonic piece using modern Iranian instruments as well as a Western string ensemble. While a good representation of modern Iranian music, it is by no means meant to be taken for the music of the time of the Achaemenids.
    Lyrics transliterated:
    Baga vazraka Auramazdā hya imām
    Būmim adā hya avam asmānam
    Adā hya martiyam adā hya
    Shiyātim adā martiyahyā
    Hya Dārayavaum xšāyaϑiyam akunauš
    Translation:
    A great god is Ahuramazda,
    Who created this earth,
    Who created yonder sky,
    Who created man,
    Who created happiness for man,
    Who made Darius king.

Even if this is a modern composition with modern Iranian instruments, this music really evokes in the listener a sense of the grandeur and exoticism (to us westerners) of Ancient Persia, obviously much better than a fucking modern Hollywood soundtrack not caring to use thematically appropriate Instrumentation or lyrics/vocals and sticking to the obsessive use of the double minor harmonic scale. This is the real deal, and although ancient Iranian or Persian is lost to the sands of time (see what I did there?) this makes me just as easily imagine a column of immortals marching through Persepolis or something like that. One of my favorite of your works and very catchy leitmotif. 👌

Because Iranian knows better how to make Iranian music. It's a simple and logical thing.
Want French music - ask French
      Want Slavic - ask slavs
      Want Iranian - ask Iranian
Farya Faraji use this rule, it's the reason why his music so great.

Thanks a whole for your kind words David! That's the geographical style of music I'm the most naturally well-versed in due to my origins; so it's a lot easier for me to create music with these geographical influences quickly. As someone who grew up mostly in the West, I'm also equally as familiar with Western European and North American tradition, but these traditions have been represented a lot more, whilst Middle-Eastern/Eastern Mediterranean/North African music could do with some more accurate representation, so I put a little more work in that, even though I'm definitely going to cover more European and North American music in the future.
As for the nationalism aspect, I despise ultra-nationalism and patriotic fanaticism. I'm a human first and an Iranian second. I love my country, but that doesn't mean I should respect other cultures and histories any less, and I respect them just as much as I respect my own culture, and I'm glad people like you appreciate that :)

According to the mainstream historians, Old Persian and Sanskrit came from this ancestral so-called Proto-Indo-Iranian language from Central Asia and ultimately from so-called Proto-Indo-European languages from South Russia, and that Sanskrit was brought to India by the Aryans, but this theory is very controversial to us Indians, because there is no evidence of Aryans migrating into India.

@@jovanpaloski6335 They might not be just Bulgarians, but Albanians and Slavs, genetically. But still no country is called "Macedonia" legally speaking. Anyway this name is attributed to Greek history, and we should be careful when using it, because it can be misleading.

Do names of ancient Macedonian people and places mean something in orher languages than greek? Because in greek they all have their composite meaning. Then and now.

Omg yes!!! Good work 🤩🤩🤩 A music about Ya'qub ibn al-Layth or Bahrām Chōbīn wouldn't be bad either. Your work fascinates me always! (Sorry my English is not good)
