- Now there are three separate loops or one complete reverse loop. 3 Tables were added to the 12' x 8'6" (5 tables) to make the "L" shape, 12' x 24'
Fastrack Switches were added: 048 Right remote; 072 Left Remote; and two 036 Right Manual
Great layout, cool cat! I wish I had a room as big as yours! Thanks for sharing!
Great layout. Interesting mix of old and new track. Don't stop!
Thank you!
... and great vision with commentary as well.
Wow! That is incredible! Thank you for showing us the layout design and the overhead shots! Drives me crazy when modelers only show closeups of a train rolling.
Glad you liked it!
You have some Awesome water armature trees on that layout
That is one huuuuge expansion. I like the added flexibility.
I like the added flexibility too! I would have got the video edited sooner but I was spending any free time running trains.
Nice work Brent. I see you negotiated more real estate!! Nice. I wish I could do the same! Keep it up!
Thank you! I like how you said that... it sounds much better than I cleaned up and moved a bunch of my junk for more real estate 🙂
Yes I love the Sound that the rolling stock makes on tubular track it's an awesome sound will put you to sleep just listen to it run
Sometimes I turn the volume down on the engine sounds so I can just hear the trains on the tracks.
Very nice layout!
Thanks!
Excellent !!
Thanks!
Awesome!!! I’m envious. Good yah 👍😎
Thanks 👍
Nice extension, looking forward to seeing it to completion.
Thanks! I can't wait to get the some scenery on there!
Nice expansion to the layout Brent. One powerful engine pulling 27 cars. Looking forward to the completion of the expansion.
Thank you!
You are doing a great job with that expansion. It's going to add many exciting possibilities. 👍
Thanks! I'm really liking it so far!
That's going to be really nice Brent. Glad to see you are adding on. Wish I had more room. Cant wait to see it when it's all done with all the great scenery work you do. Matt
Thank you! I can't wait to get started on the scenery - but I still haven't figured out exactly what I'm going to do.
Maybe do you a little Industrial Area of some sort on that narrow part. I tried to include the Coal Mine area and the Gas Plant with a Loading Station because that's what is local here. Lionel makes some nice Tanker Cars with Sound and EOT lights. I'm sure you'll figure something out and it will look great. I'm excited to see what you decide.
Love your layout and that's the perfect expansion works great can't go wrong with a double reversing loop that was fun running the trains I love the really big consit and sounds on the track is really great anytime maybe engineer any kind of electric going on going to have to get over there and run more trains was fun
It is working really well - I'm really diggin' it.
Really great layout Brother, I love it.
Thank you!
Brent, it’s amazing how you were able to get your “bench work” height to match up with your former layout. I know in a few months, after weathering, etc. it will be looking like a million dollars👌🏿02/19/2021
Thanks! I can't wait to do some scenery. Ha ha - I actually have to shim some of the table legs on my wavy basement floor.
That is a beautiful layout. Love all the trees
Thank you! I think trees make a huge difference on a layout. Here is a video where I show how I make wire armature trees...

@@BrentsTrains they sure do! I’ll have to watch that video
Can't wait to see how you treat the additon scenically!
Thanks! I'm looking forward to doing some scenery! Videos will be coming...
Nice it Will Better with Time.
Nice!!!
Thank you!
Can I have a screen shot of you plan?
Mine real close, Need the double reverse....
Great extension. Look forward to seeing the finished product! But are we ever really finished?
Thank you! The short answer is "no" 🙂
Looks great! Out and back loops change the dynamics of everything don’t they. I’m sure you’ve already considered but I would add two more switches at the “narrow tables” to reverse directions on the main outer line without being required to use your inner loop to do so- just my thoughts.
Oh yes! Having one reverse loop is good, but having a double reverse is a lot better. I thought about switches there also - and I think Mike & Mark have some tube track switches that I could put in there.
WOW THAT IS AWESOME LAYOUT AND GREAT VIDEO. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. MAY I AKS DID YOU MAKE THE TREES ON YOUR LAYOUT?
Thank you! Yes, I make the trees on the layout. I made a video showing how I make them... ruclips.net/video/AJX9Rz9Uq2s/видео.html
Brent, the expansion looks great and adds a lot of new operating options. Does the original part of your layout also use folding tables for benchwork? I like the small oval at the end of the expansion. Having a short train or a trolley running there increases the fun of the layout IMHO.
Yep, there are 5 tables that make up the original part of the layout and the three more added. Six 6' tables and two 8' tables. We're thinking that we'll only be in this house another year or two and I didn't want to build a bunch of benchwork - I can take all of this with me.
I'm considering a Carrera Go slot car track in the place of that little oval. I agree with you... gotta have something in there.
Great looking layout and expansion- really enjoyed the video. I think you mentioned you can run three conventional engines- so you can isolate the loops?
Thanks!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Yes. The three loops are isolated by isolating the center rail on a 1 3/8" fastrack piece between the switches.
Awesome video, your extension is fantastic and the double reverse loop works great. Did you ever find the problem with the dead spot? Just curios. You have an exceptionally beautiful layout and I look forward to seeing the progress.
Thank you! Yes. I meant to put that in the video. After the new track showed up and the old tube track was replaced - I thought the dead spot was gone. But then I ran my MTH Dash-8 Ps3 and it did it again (not as severe). So I changed out the MTH z750 with a z1000, which only powers the outside loop, and the problem went away. I've run multiple big engines (at once) and it seems fine now.
@@BrentsTrains I was sure you figured it out. I have an MTH AS-616 that has a problem on switches but it's just that one engine and probably because it only has two pickups for the engine so I'm assuming that's the reason.
What is your bench work height ?
About 30" - or standard table height.
Nice! Where did you get the Mobil gas station from?
Thank you @burlingtonbill1 ! The Mobil gas station is the "O Scale Small Rural Service Station" printed paper model kit from www.Clevermodels.net
I did a video about it when I made it... ruclips.net/video/AJBgd_qj_pI/видео.html
@@BrentsTrains THANKS for your reply! I went & looked at the gas station video. Wow. You are very talented in model building & scenery. Very nice !!!
@@burlingtonbill1, I was looking for a little gas station like that for a while - it fit the bill perfect. I didn't build the garage part so I could save space on the layout. I'm going to print another one (great thing about paper buildings) and build it for the Lodge Layout with the garage... and have the garage open. And the compliments are much appreciated!
