None of these 2000 doctors will be allowed to become consultants there. They just need low paid resident doctors. 6 to 12 months training after MBBS means they will just be at level of SHO. It is by no means a post graduate training recognised or otherwise. And since they have not passed PLAB, will not be eligible for a further training posts there, and will not pose threat to existing doctors waiting to be consuktant or are consultants. After 2 years of working like this some may clear PLAB and move up, but most wont and will have to return back due to high cost of living. Many post MBBS doctors in India not qualifying for PG seats via NEET and not having money for pvt PG seats will find this attractive. But attempt for PLAB as soon as possible.
Also, they will not be allowed to apply for the family visa and hence will have to live alone. They will not be eligible for citizenship either. Only fools would take up such options
Better than getting abused by HOD’s / patients and low wages 😅
Much better than even indian specialist life here in hot overlycrowded cities nd hospitals nd abused by senior consultants nd getting low wages
Nd yeah why r u so jealous for that... Either u r plab candidate or old mentality specialist in dirty hospital😂😂
This isn't new: the NHS has always needed doctors from other countries. Many doctors from places like South Asia come to the UK after passing the PLAB test and registering with the GMC. This requirement hasn't changed. Passing the PLAB test is still tough for foreign doctors. First, they need a high score in IELTS, around 7.5 overall, which not all can get. Then, they have to pass two exams, PLAB 1 and 2. It's not easy; only the brightest make it through. It's not smart to send so many skilled doctors to other countries, especially since most don't return home.
Then they should start by not beating up doctors in India..
Nothing surprising here. There PM is also outsourced from India
The PM is from UK. Born and raised. More like the PM's birth is outsourced to UK.

Fact that UKs waiting period is long as no one can get even lab tests of their choice as it needs doctors reference. UK needs more doctors as UK doctors do not check as many patients as doctors see in India. A doctors checks about 10-15 patients only in a day.
Hospitals well equipped. Visitors cannot get treatment unless they have taken insurance.

Reminds me of 1948 .My grandfather was one of the first/early NHS Indian doctors in England back when it formed. He went to England after serving in WW2 as a medical officer in the British Army. Fast forward when I was a med student at UCH London, an elderly consultant oncologist said to me how sad he was that Indian doctors were so badly treated by the system [and its people]. He basically apologised to me. English doctors weren't interested in working for a socialist system. The NHS was propped up by the Indian doctors, many were GPs in out of the way places. Also, Indian doctors left India to avoid being conscripted in the 1962 Indo-Sino war.

The NHS should address its long-term challenges rather than relying solely on short-term solutions like importing doctors from other countries.
