Man, I have done this in different applications. Only after stressing out about breaking mine and searching for an hour for a connector that doesn't cost $70, I found your video. Thanks for reminding me to keep it simple.
This is by far the best electrical plug clip fix ive ever seen. The same damn IAC plug clip is busted on my 350 TBI too. I'll be doin' this tomorrow. Keep em comin' Cody!
Thank you thank you thank you after a hour scratching my head My wife is looking out the window thinking I told him to take it to the shop I fooled her ran across your video last option was electrical tape thanks be safe
OK, cool, but how does one *remove* a Dodge red tag connector when the push tab is *broken off?* I got mine loose with brute force and an angled pick I pushed under the tab area.
Great trick - thanks for sharing. I've also used a zip tie across both sides (between wires on both connectors ) which works well if using small enough ties. As an aside - has anyone ever replaced a Chrysler flip lock on an ABS connector without replacing the connector??
Considering the difficulty of replacing the wire harness or replacing the connector not to mention cost, this is as about as permanent as it will get for most.
@@notavailable9919 I agree. Shit breaks and it's never going to be put back together perfectly. Should you solder in a new connector? Sure, in a perfect world. But this appears to work just as well.
Geen-yuss. I got some electrical spray cleaner so to get my money's worth I started unhooking and cleaning random connections In my car and I broke one of the clips on a fuel injecter plug harness and also the TPS sensor clip. if those fall out I'll be limping! Thanks home skillayy

He'll yeah !! I had the clip broken in a used alternator I am about to put in. I was worried about the vibration working it out. Thank you so much !!
You just saved me from having to get two new connectors and screwing around with wiring ! Thank you !
Similar fix by someone else but yours was way better and more secure. Thanks for the help.
Thanks bud, I was struggling with zip ties another way already. Your method worked much better.
Awesome idea. Will be trying this on my broken clip to my starter. Thank you!
You're the GOAT for this one!
Superb hack Cody! Thank you very much for taking the time to show it to us! I greatly appreciate it! Sincere regards!
Thank you for this! I broke clip today and was worried it might fall out. I'm sure a trick like this will hold it in place.
Thanks for posting this. I'm tearing into a used Mini Cooper, and noticed a few broken connectors. Zip ties conquer when duct tape can't.
Howie Mandel - omg, forgot about the glove on the head. THx! Those were good days...
Love it man, you just saved me some hassle with an ignition coil harness on my mustang 👍🙏🙏
Thank you soooo much. I’m going to go retry it out now. I was stuck!

How do I remove a wire from one of these when the release clip is broken
Damn boy, that’s a neat trick. Thank you
Awesome idea!
thanks I broken connector lock on my gmc acadia engine coolant sensor connector ! I will try this fix and let you know :) thanks
I used this trick, works great.

Zip ties have saved my ass several times. Always carry some in your car just in case.
Clip just broke on my 03 liberties tps sensor when I pulled it to replace the sensor. Thank you for this idea.
I can't really get zip ties around the one in my car, do you think a little silicon glue will do the trick?
When its where you can't use a zip tie, I use ultra black, it works great at holding the plug.
@@CodytheCarGuy I'll give it a try! Thanks for getting back to me on such an old video.
Wouldn't those zip ties have to be made of heat resistant material? Gets pretty hot near the engine.
Thanks I am beginning to hate those clips now.
Genius. Saved me ass.
Hell yeah
Nice
trying this tommrow
Will the ties melt under the heat of engine?
Nylon zip ties definately not because I have ziptied wire looms in the same area as the engine. Unless you overheat your engine you should be fine
Or electrical tape
Read about what JESUS did this is mine blowing. Can you believe this, did you ever hear of this about HIM

It's not a "fix" it's meant to get you by until you can repair it correctly.

Oh shut up with the bullshit
zip ties will not last for many many years. They will become brittle and break. Use metal wire, paper clip, etc.
