Commenting near 4 years after the fact, but I just wanted to say thank you so much. You are a Ford guru and the world is better for your excellent videos. I needed this exact video. Excellent. Thanks again!
Hell, don’t apologize I’m reading comments 5 years after. :-)
You’re right, thanks to FordTechMakuloco for the video. I couldn’t remember how I’d done this before.
Why was there a missing connector on the first pigtail will that piece need to be replaced with another connector? My map sensor pigtail is missing one also and a P2096 code appears so I am replacing the pigtail but want to be sure.
RUclips and guys like you are such a blessing. I don’t have to be ASE certified if I have ASE certified techs giving advice away for funsies like this.
Fan-Ford-Tastic presentation! BZ Brian. Rarely has one man done so much for so many! Thanks again
Excellent video Brian. I had to work on the same connector that you showed at around the 3:30 mark. Was intimidated at first but once I got the retainer out I saw just how easy it was to work on. Thanks for sharing this info as it is sure to help many!
That is one of the best videos, probably the best I've seen on connectors and pin removal! Very well done!
A brilliant and well filmed video with a clear and easy to understand narrative that I learnt a lot from thank you very much!!!
Great video Brian. Very useful! These connectors can sometimes be a mystery, even to mechanics!
That cutaway was next level brilliant! Thanks for putting in the effort
Hi, just watched your video. The cut away connector you showed was brilliant. Well done and thank you.
In the past, I have struggled with a few of the Ford plugs. Not knowing what to do after the plug broke was especially frustrating. Your video was very informative and helpful. Thanks.
Excellent presentation. Clear and precise. Thank you for the effort you put in to making the video.
Thanks Brian. Very useful and so easy to understand. Really appreciate the various examples you showed. You make my life easier. Thanks.
Very cool and informative video, The cutaway is great, thanks for putting in the effort to make this for us, exactly what i was looking for!
Thank you sir.
All the lighter sockets in my 2015 F-350 were wired always on. Wanted to set the console socket to ignition control, for a Dashcam. Your video was exactly what I needed.
Thought I was going to have to run a wire from the fuse box. Discovered Ford provided the option at the harness, but I needed to switch some pins. Not wanting to hack and splice.
Happy camper.
You deserve a slab of beer!!!!! Made my night, now I can work on my loom and remove stuff I don't need. Greetings from Australia!
Thank you! Awesome! I learn a lot watching this. Really appreciate your effort trying to explain clearly.
6 years later and it helped me out. Thanks!
Not a bad design. I like that they are re-buildable. Haven't personally had a problem with electrical connectors with our personal Fords. Great video. Thanks for taking the mysticism out of it for us.
Where do you get new terminals if you have to change out a wire?
You are AWESOME!!! I just did this on my f150 coil pack. FANTASTIC INFO!!
Awesome. You made it look easy. Surely you have mastered this. Confidently explained. Thanks.
Thanks for the share. Your a amazing Ford tech. Your the best Ford tech I've ever seen. Keep them great videos online. Have a great week.
Best Video I ever seen on Ford electrical connector to pull out wire.
Very hand vid, thanks mate. Well produced and informative.
Really Great Video! You weren't kidding that this was going to be an excellent and much needed video on the what why and how too on connectors. Seems the clips are almost always breaking off due to age, being removed and reinstalled numerous times, environment and especially due to heat in the engine bay on the plastics. Awesome Video !!
Thank you so much your videos are great and by far the best on youtube . so much knoledge on all of your vids that been so helpful thanx again
Brian, keep up the good work ...
Greetings from Mcallen, TX
Happy I found this vid!! 😃
Been looking for info on how to do this for YEARS!!!!!
Searched up blower switch plug and this video popped up. I guess maybe because I am subscribed. My 2005 FX4 with 187k miles is living a good life because of you. It's mostly towing (boat) and dump trips these days. I work in auto care, but I'm a front of house person with mechanical work as my hobby
Also my cars never get in... You may know the dilemma of how the cobbler's children go barefoot!
Anyway, great video. I never stopped to figure out connector repair, and now I found a broken retainer on my blower motor plug when I removed my center stack cover to add bluetooth. Which is great BTW. Now I don't need another radio and subscription to listen to satellite, just runs through the phone.
You just gave me the connector solution, Love It!
Outstanding video. I have a fried fuse box on a truck I just bright and you have saved me a lot of heartache. Thank you so much.
Timeless, hey it's 2021, and my 05 Mustang threw a P0193. My fuel pressure is at 68 to 70 psi. The duty cycle pumps are running at 100 %
I've tested everything from the Fuel Pressure sensor and it's in tolerance.
After 2 months of searching, including asking local Ford dealer to sell me info and asked on online expert who told me unless my car has a problem operating he didn't feel like he had to answer.
I scored the diagnostic tree. Itwo tests on I found the problem is a bad wire Pin 3 harness side.
You just gave me the.piece of the puzzle to finish. Thank you for making this video.
I appreciate all your videos, I have a 04 mercury Mountaineer and I have solved a lot of problems thanks to you
Nice!
Thank you for all the information you provide, it is really useful❤
thanks very much - the most helpful video about this yet - loved the cut-away!
I am viewing this in the 2020 Corona Virus lock down, but it is timeless, and a extremely helpful...
Thank you sir.
The last part after minute seven is maybe the best depinning video online because it breaks the connector open to reveal the inner workings that secure the tangs, and therefore how to release the tangs. Thanks
That was very helpful. Great job on the video & explanation.
Excellent teaching method especially cutting that connector in half. I hope you have a great December, my father and I are actually gonna take a short trip to Erwin Tennessee and stay at uncle Johnny's along the Appalachian trail. Very soon in fact. I love how I'm able to go on vacation and not spend a whole lot of money because those hostels are fairly inexpensive.
Fabulous Video Brian. Thank you so much !
This was awesome to watch, thank you!
On the last blue/red/white connector, the "element" seal at the end is also serviceable. It can be removed, and it's internal seal replaced as well. On many connectors, you must remove this to completely remove the wire connector, as it's tolerance is for water/debris. Nice video.
Very nice. Mechanically apt teacher with clear video and native, correct English.
Thank you for this video. You just helped me not mangle a connector I was trying to repin for some aftermarket mirrors that had two wires reversed.
Great information and excellent instructional video!
Very nice video! Very useful information. I've always wondered if I could build a harness from scratch.
Good clear instructions, I always thought that these connectors were sealed and one time use that could not be opened👌👍
Awesome video. Really helped me out today. Thank you.
Very good. Thank you. Working on a Dodge Durango, but I think the process is similar. Will be helpful.
Absolutely brilliant video - thanks so much
So informative! Really took the mystery out of those darn connectors I’m always wrestling with.
Thank you, you saved me much frustration and a broken connector. 👍🏻
I appreciate the video and great explanation. I've been subbed to your channel for a couple of years, since I got my 2011 F150 Ecoboost, and your vids are always helpful.
This was very helpful; much more so than others on YT.
Thanks Brian that was genius and thanks for your time
Great video! Very helpful!
Excellent video as the connector broke on the headlamp on my 2000 F-250.
Thank you so much I fixed a lot of connectors on my 2003 ranger Thanks to your videos
Appreciate the information Brian, Thanks!
Love the video . I would ask you go back and show the green harness plug on the upper left . 1971? I need to know how to change my resistance wire. Thanks again for the other tips
7 years later and still very helpful . I am working on my 2012 Mustang. Thanks
Nice helpful video! I have a giant mess of various Ford electrical connectors, relays, fuses, etc. I collect on trips to the salvage yard. Pays to scavenge a bit while you're there for something else I guess.
Best explanation... very informative....
Thank you! That was a big help!
This a great video! It was a huge help..
Awesome video Brian.
I've always wanted to know how to do this, thanks. Also, the screw drivers are available at some Dollar Tree locations for $1, I got my set there recently
very nice, used a dental pick in the early 80s on toyotas. in the case of the wire end not coming out thru the end cap on that blue cutaway, will the end cap come off easily ?
Great instructions. I have a 2006 subie sti with a broken alternater plastic connection. Need to replace the green plastic body only. Now I know how to remove the 2 wires and instal, on the new connector. Muchas gracias
Thanks for zooming in so we can see the details. Great video.
Thanks a ton! Saved me time and money.
Thank you so much for this video!
At the very beginning of this video you showed a connector with three white wires going into a grey connector with a orange/red gasket. I wish you showed that connector disassembling. Excellent video.
Superb guide! You might want to change the title though and make it more visible and easier to search. This is a general guide for all sorts of connectors. Helped me with my Mitsubisbi and toyota cars
love it! the desert never fails to dry rot my plastics.
Thanks, great job explaining
Thank you. Good informations. I have tools for those connectors just needed informations on how to use it.
Amazing video, Thank you
Fantastic, thank you for all👍
Good Video but where do we get the new shell connectors?
Thanks mate particularly for the last 2 minutes or so.
Brilliant video!
Very well made video thank you
No idea that was so simple...great video
outstanding vid !!!
Great video, hey you wouldn't happen to know where i could find shells for Ford connectors? i have a 95 Thunderbird I'm restoring and i took the whole harness out, the fuel injector ones are classical that the tabs always are broken on those and i dont want to splice a new one, i just wanna change the shell, pretty much all the connectors are brokeen due to heat etc but just the shells, thank you for your time.
EXCELLENT video! 👍
I know this is an older video, but car manufacture's now of days have a couple ones out there to be wary of. One in particular is a nasty bugger. For this particular type you have to take off a plastic retainer/cover(typically white) to expose the terminals, then you need to push in the soft rubber end(purple/pink) with a small screwdriver/mini Allen key. This pushes the connector forward where you now need to take either a needle nose pliers or tweezers and very gently grab the terminal, now rotate it 180*, then gently push up on it and slide out. I've only seen these on New Nissan's the pins are 1mm. I found only one extra at a pick'n'pull to figure it out so they are RARE, and you cannot find them online to replace.
Great video. Unfortunately I damaged my new ignition coil connector trying to get the wires to release. Now I understand it.
Thank you. Did't even finish the video and had my 7 pin trailer connector all took apart without breaking any of the tabs.
Perfect timing. Just ordered empty connectors to repin my coil pack connectors with broken tabs.
Been down that road. Ford pigtail for replacement $85. Plastic shell $5.49. The trick is finding the shell. Ford is no help in identifying the part or a source.
f150 2006 fuel pump driver module wiring harness Do you know if I can change the whole harness under the bed or is it like all attached. I have one broken wire but the rest of the wires dont looks so well either. I did solder it back and put shrink wrap on it but I had to add a piece of wire so it has two different solders dont even know how long it will hold. I've searched online with nothing as far as harness but I can buy the whole connecter then again you would have to solder all the wires together.
This is great! I just broke an injector plug an thought I couldn't fix it. Where do we get the replacements? Ford dealer?
what an awesome video
Tq so much. Gonna do this later with my camshaft position sensor connector. All wires are kaput under engine bay heat.
Brilliant! Thanks.
Thanks for this excellent video. Is the idea to always replace the wire or wires, or to just gain access to the terminal ends for a visual inspection, then to remove any corrosion, add a small amount of Ford XG-12 grease (actually Nyogel 760G - compare the FIR on the various Ford XG-12 MSDS) to eliminate future corrosion issues and reduce the reconnection insertion forces required on multiple pin connectors, and/or to allow you to carefully tighten up one or two loose connections, and to test continuity and resistance while you're at it? Thanks again.
First off you rock so much for sharing the info by any chance would you also share what type the actual pin connector is, like size and usable replacement have a few wires that need new male or female ends and would like not to have to buy the whole pig tag if I can just replace 1 or 2 wire ends
Very informative. When you see a pair of working hands like yours, you can nearly always rest assured that person knows what he/she is talking about.
Super super very good explain thanku sir
Super helpful! Thanks
