The crazy thing about the digicam craze is it makes me realize the photos I took when I had them were just bad. Had nothing to do with the camera. Using them now is so much more fun and my pictures look great! Awesome video!
Definitely. I’m making videos about these old cameras because I feel like I didn’t appreciate them when I was younger.
the vast majority of photos taken on them back in the day used an auto setting and sucked haha. at least for me.
Same here)
When these cameras were the norm we weren't really editing and we probably weren't deliberately taking the style of photos like in this video. We were taking the quick/bad photos we're now taking on our phones...
I have the sd1100. I am a firefighter, it has been in my gear for about 15 years. Long battery life, good picture quality, adequate flash. This camera is easy to navigate and never failed me. It has been through the most extreme temperatures and been dropped and still works perfectly every time I grab it.
Just got a pinkish sd1100! love it!
I love the little beeps you added to show each picture, such a nice detail
Thank you 😊😊😊😊
I enjoyed your video and YES you are correct on the price of the SD1000 but most of the old digi-cams are over priced on E-Bay!! Luckily I have the Canon SD1100 and SD1200 and the S90. It seems anytime a RUclips is made on a older digi-cam prices goes up. Over the years I have been fortunate in finding old digi-cams at thrift stores, garage sales or from family and friends. Recently I purchased a Canon Power Shot A85 still in the box, cables, manual and even the LCD screen was still covered with the plastic protection film. Doesn't look like it was ever used and got it for $5!! Best of luck in your photography journey.
Best

i love the disclaimer at the end. a lot of people hunt down this exact same camera even though there are a lot of other similar camera available and are sold way cheaper giving the same identical results. digicams can do way more than what i thought. i love the result it gives and the nostalgia of just using one when taking photos.
Sometimes the hype of the camera can make people spend lots of money on it. That’s not a good idea especially nowadays with how expensive things are getting! So many good cheap cameras out there
Thank you man, i was looking for some good digicam for my girlfriend's birthday. She shoots on 35mm film, but wanted a simple, stylish camera for quite some time. You ended my desperate searches. Also your videos have a very cozy vibe.
Glad I could help!! Thank you!
Many of these remind me of the original ELPH, the one for APS film. Had one of those new, and whenever the prints came back it was a contest to see which roll could look worse than the last.
I also like the design of this one, how squared off it is and the way the buttons appear flush.
beautiful photos and beautiful video!! love some of your shots. having a separate device for photos feels like you're treasuring the moment a little more
Thank you so much! It definitely does feel that way.
Cannon SD1000 looks really cool, definitely gives off a late 2000s vibe!
It'd be pretty funny if you mounted it on the DJI lol, I think you'd have to disassemble the camera to wirelessly activate the capture button though, unless the camera supports any cable based capture button accessories which you could hook up to a wireless arduino.
That actually sounds like a really cool idea!
i really loved the color grading of the pictures and videos!
Thank you!
I've been using my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-w150 before switching to my mom's old DSLR. I'm loving it even more now since ive been getting into older digital cameras. I also got Canon SD1000 but i wanted it because i wanted something similar to my Dad's SD110
love the video this was the camera my mum had when i was a kid, its cool to see it become popular again and ive been meaning to take it out and use it sometime
Nice video. I left Hamilton Aug 2022 and moved west to Calgary. The beach and the lift bridge was one of my favorite areas to get out with my camera.
It’s my go to area for testing out cameras!
Thank you!
hi really appreciate your video. I’m new with editing things so can I ask what’s the effect when you add videos and photos on top of the original video, like the effect that makes the bolder of the videos kinda blur. Hope you can understand what im saying now im not really good at english ❤ tysm
Also in the "using my phone as least as possible club" ✌ would you mind doing a short video on your color correcting settings? Just got into the digicam wave.
1:13 Yeah mate, that's the thing. Cameras don't get worse over time. So find yourself a decent camera from back then and you won't be disappointed!
Lovely video btw!
Thank you soooo much!!!
love this video! older Canon point and shoots from the late 00s don't get as much appreciation as they should, i started learning photography with my mom's PowerShot A640 and even now the pictures look comparable to my rebel T3i.. though that's coming from someone who has a Mavica FD-73 as an "every day carry" so my eyesight might just be bad.
Thanks! Totally agree.
The Mavica FD73 is so sick. I got the Mavica FD-200 it’s so fun. I actually have two videos about the camera up on my RUclips!
Yoooo it's Burlington! Great pics :)
Yes Burlington! Thanks!
Digicams are here to stay..I agreed I got one as my EDC and documentation/street photography camera...not the SD but the s90 ... awesome video btw have a safe one
Thank you !
i recently got my casio exilim z1050, i believe it was released in 2008, and similar to the issue you're encountering, the screen is bad, but when i transfer it to my phone, the quality is so good! ✨
Haha. Oh my old digital camera photos look better than my phone!
Where did u get it from ? Cant seem to get digicams anywhere
You don't need a lot of megapixels to get excellent results. I play around with a 12mp Kodak Easyshare C190 and an ancient 2003 5.3mp HP Photosmart 935 digital camera. These cameras can still be found alive and working for $15-20! They yield excellent results!
Totally agree. I prefer to shoot on my older, small digital point and shoot cameras.
The vibes are immaculate this video is so well made. On to watch more of your stuff😇
Thumbs up simply because you didn’t focus on a specific camera. Certain models and brands are becoming over inflated because of a video or influencer, when in reality all cameras of the same era sport similar features and will provide similar photos. This leads people to pay ridiculous prices for something 20 years old that could break next week!
Nice made video :-). I like tiny older digicams too. Bought my first a Lumix LS3 in 2007 for testing digital photografie. I have this camera still in use and some others.
With greetings from lower Bavaria.
Thank you so much for you comment! I love the old small digital cams
I have an Samsung ST200F, the images are so beautiful. I think is the same era of canon sd1000.
I think I had that camera when I was younger!
Great video. I also loved you didn’t use the words “film” or “digicam”. Definitely a sub for me and I look forward to some more content.
Thank you!
It makes me happy to hear people say they want to stop using their phone. Bought a digicam for that reason
Getting a little sick of my phone!
Just picked up a mint condition Ricoh cx5 off ee bay for $84. It takes incredible photos and hd video. The photos look professional.
I paid 40 usd to an old lady in fb market ajja
I know Burlington lakeshore when I see it
I bought a Canon A510 in the early 2000s. Love the pics I have from that camera. Also had the A70 and it was good too.
I am on the hunt for the a510 right now!
This was my camera back then and man oh man I wish I knew what I did with it!
Hope you can find it one day!
Great video man, I love shooting with an older camera and love the look of some of them too! Check out and try shooting the Canon Powershot G9 or G10, I think you'll love them too! Just subbed & look forward to watching more!
Thank you so much!
Love your images and videos from ig
Thank you!!
hi! i have this camera and i use it everyday but suddenly the flash stopped working and i can’t figure out why… any suggestions??????? 😭
The Cams from this time are having small sensors , most of them where not able to take more than 7 MP , this was the time of gigantic MP promises. The reality was many liek me turned they cam down to 7-8 MP not to kill the sensor , so more Light fell into the Sensor. Diffrent to the CMOS Sensors of DSLR they had very small sensors, so the more Light the better for the small point and shoot. But i took a lot great Images in this time when learned how to use my camera. Today i shoot with my 18 MP Basic DSLR and RAW . Even with my Phone i get a lot great shoots its to know how to use it.I still own my bright Red Canon Power Shoot with Zoom Lens and digital Zoom. I learned a lot with this.
I recently got the Canon SD750 for 2 dollars in Argentina. Literally intact, like new, because the previous owner or someone had forgotten the charger with the battery somewhere... so the camera got put away a long time ago, probably on first use or so, as far as I can see, because, no kidding, it looks brand new. So, she gave me a litle bag with a 1GB card (no box or manual). Of course I knew what battery it needed (I have a Canon Ixus 100is --2009--, same battery). I think these two canon cameras and your SD1000 are the best looking from that era, the design is sleek, well made (in Japan). And the photos are amazing.
Wow that’s a really good deal! I got mine for around $40CAD, which is still a good deal, but nothing compared to two dollars!!!
Leave it to youtubers to overhype a camera that was pretty standard for 2007 but with stellar image quality. I personally own this camera but people on the internet love to hype random old stuff and drive up the prices 😂
Yeah, the Internet made the prices of this camera go crazy. I think people just like to pretend that they’re in the early 2000s.
Beautiful video 📹🎞🤍
Thank you!
Do you have a link for the camera? How does it do recording birds flying and squirrels running?
Sadly, I don’t have a link for the camera. You have to buy a used from eBay or local Camera Shops.
The video quality is kind of bad, but good in a retro way. Probably wouldn’t be the best for trying to film birds and squirrels.
Thanks, Happy New Year@@jordan_winter
This is a proof that you don't need a fancy, heavy stuff to create even professional results. Of course these digicams have their own vibes, but what is more important is the light and the composition.
Totally agree!
bro...amazing video once again
thank you!!
I have a Canon IXY digital 60 that I dug out from storage! While I love the colors (especially the way it catches the sky colors), my hands have to be really steady when it’s not bright outside. I’m not used to flash anymore - it hurts my eyes. 😅
nem eu tava botando fe nessa camera, mas caramba, ela eh mt boa! os registros ficaram lindos
Love it !! 😀
Thanks!
@@jordan_winter no problem I love your editing style, your really good with photography and video editing. I shoot film once in a while and in a fujifilm xt3 but lately feeling uninspired, been finding my self just taking pictures of my cat recently. I'm adding you right now on IG
Thank you for your support! It really means a lot. It’s hard to be creative when you’re uninspired. I try to go on a walk three times a week, and bring my camera. My goal is to take five photos while I’m on my walk. They don’t need to be good. They just have to be something I’m interested in. It gets my brain used to working with my camera throughout the week.
It's crazy to think you can get some (older) APS-C mirrorless cams for less than the cost of some of these olllld digicams.
That's right my friend, even a $10,000 piece of equipment isn't worth it if you don't know what you're doing.
been wanting to buy a camera, i need to save more
great video
I enjoyed your video. I have several older point and shoot digital cameras. Unfortunately like any RUclips videos that has good reviews this raises prices to ridiculous prices. I found most of mine at garage sales or thrift stores for prices ranging from $2 - 10. Best of luck in your photography journey!
Best wishes
Duane
I’m super glad you enjoyed the video! I totally agree. These videos are making the prices go up. I found all of mine for relatively cheap. I just had to do some digging.
Cool Man ! :)
clicked on the video and was like hey this is Burlington!
Yup! It’s Burlington!
Nice Subaru
Thank you
I want a modern camera this tiny what options are there!?
I’ve been saying this for years! I feel like back in the Day the goal with tech was the try and make it smaller. Now everyone wants things that are big.
I would love a tiny mirrorless Camera.
If you’re looking for a kind of small mirrorless camera with good lenses. Look at the Sony NEX 5R.
It’s a small body, but you can put big Sony lenses on it. It’s really cool in a nice size.
I just got one yesterday for $200 (used)
Where can i find digicams? I really need to buy one
Online but they are really expensive! If you have a local camera shop go there! Just ask!
@@jordan_winter I've been looking for years for a modern replacement of my failing IXUS 70 (same as PowerShot SD1000) but I just don't want to let go of the flush rectangle design. There are actually plenty of no-name >40 MP digicams sold for like $40, so it would be nice to know why to avoid them. Could they really be worse than a camera from 2007?
What music is that playing in the background?
Alpine Inn By Jasper Zeray the link is in the description!
@@jordan_winter Thanks! ^w^
I got an SD1000 before the prices went through the roof. its a nice little camera, but i never liked the poor lens quality, even compared to my SD600. I mainly use an SD750 these days to preserve my SD1000, same specs.
I got the Canon SD 750 as well. I like it a lot better but i wish it had a viewfinder, the screen is a lot better on the Canon SD 750 so it makes up for it.
this wasn't a very good video. came for the 07 quality and got a better quality video playing in the background and the 07 quality photos occasionally pop up...with a weird feather effect around them....
I’m just trying to have fun. I thought it was a pretty good video. Thanks for commenting. I hope you have a good one.
what is your camera settings while you taking pictures sir?
love that low exposure settings sir. would you mind if you share it? thank you 🙏🏽 love from the philippines.
The settings are all on auto!
hows the viewfinder bro? is it too small?
It’s super small! I don’t really use it
I don't know what the big deal is with these sd series canons, the a series are better camera's and you can pick them up under $40, I picked up an a590 for 35 and it's 8 mp and came out in 2008, I love the a series
I LOVE my SD1000
It’s great!
Lately I often see similar videos, and it pleases. Someone will say, they say, "a relic of the past", but on old cameras the pictures are "alive", atmospheric, like human vision, when everything in smartphones is "lifeless" and flat).
Personally, I shoot on a PowerShot A2200, then process it in a Lightroom or Photoshop.
Another highlight of them is that, in fact, the pictures are revealed only when viewing them on a PC, as when developing photographic films, where you don't even know the approximate result, and the number of pictures is limited. I'm from Russia, I hope the translator translated correctly
can you show how you did the camera correcting
It’s basically just all auto settings
❤
I have one of these, unfortunately it died.
i dont like phone. but my canon ixus 70 broken
una japi la camara y las fotos
why didn't they just put this on a stick and then stick it on a street view car in 2007?
The point you make about the screen on the camera is something I’ve said for a while. It’s only recently with real high pixel density phones, tablets and monitors we can see how capable these cameras were. Even in 07 the average PC monitor couldn’t to justice rocking a 1024*768 res over 19 or 20 inches
I recently threw mine in the bin.
Do yourself a favour and get your hands on an RX100
I was actually thinking about getting the RX100. How is it?
This canon sd1000 is just a fun old camera to use tho.
@@jordan_winter the RX100 is a fantastic little camera. I throw a mark 1 into my bag when I'm out and about and I don't want to carry anything bigger.
Thanks for the info. Probably will get that camera soon. I hate caring around my big camera.
I prefer the G7x Mark 1 to the RX100 better color/auto focus etc, same pirce i think
I still have an Ixus 70 that I bought in 2009 (15 years old now!). and really, it's a fun little camera to have with you on a day out and sure, you can take pictures with it that look different from what you're used to. But let's face it, the actual picture quality isn't very good.
O bought one for 40 $ usd
Good deal!
What's "amazing" about it?, there's nothing shown here other than it takes good pictures, and has a poor display.
I was using digital cameras years before that, and they were already very good, and sometimes fun such as the Minolta Z1 I bought at the time - that had a very unique design, 10x optical zoom and took good pictures despite "only" being 3MP.
I think I find it amazing because it gets me off my phone. Im genZ and my generation definitely has a problem with phone additions. Having a Little point and shoots camera can help a lot.
When these cameras came out I was way too young to have one. Now I get to experience what it was like.
