I absolutely adore how this film avoids the love triangle cliché. There is zero romantic tension between Cosmo and Kathy and zero sense of jealousy from Cosmo toward Don or vice versa. It’s simply a loving, sweet, supportive relationship between a couple and a guy who’s like a brother to them both.

      *movie magic spoilers below*
They don’t actually record any of the audio on set, the vocals and foley/ tap effects are all recorded separately and synchronized during editing. As seen in the plot of this movie lol!
So the stairs probably have grip tape or something and the shoes are normal dance shoes to prevent injuries. Real tap shoes have zero traction so it would be really dangerous

Debbie Reynolds came into this movie completely green as a dancer. And you watch this sequence and, aside from a couple parts where they "hide" her and a few of her stray glances at her feet, you'd be none the wiser. She completely holds her own with these absolute legends.

So true, and seemingly a lost art because so many actors/actresses are a one-pony show. Meaning everything they do with their one talent is assisted with digitized fillers, but way back in the Old Hollywood days nearly everyone in movies had many talents & utilized them all which made for some of the greatest cinematic pieces there ever will be. Raw skills always present (hit differently) far more character. (Pun not intended)

Actors have to perform in similar ways - just not dancing.
Michelle Yeoh had to land a dirt bike on top of a moving train in her first movie. And she’d never driven a dirt bike before.

Sad to have lost all three of these fine artists
    Must say that as much
as I adore Donald O’Connor and cane see the tremendous talent of Gene Kelly. Debbie Reynolds might as well have been solo. She is all I can see. She was that talented
