You can really get a sense of their relationship from the dance (I don't know the ballet, I'm just going off what I see here). It's at first playful and fun, but as it goes on the dancers reveal a deep love and affection for one another, and near the end, you see just how strong their bond is. It's really powerful, and also shows just what a pas de deux can really do when it's done well.

So, storytime for anyone who's interested. I watched this video when it came out 5 years ago, and instantly fell in love with it. Not just the choreography, the acting, and the music, but what it all represents when combined. "This is what true love must feel like", I told myself. I was so emotionally taken by this video that I showed it to the person I had been dating for many years, excited to see the reaction of the person I loved. He basically made fun of the video and the dance moves, which was understandably a very disappoint reaction for me. Things ended up not working out for a number of reasons, and I went on to find the love of my life, who I have now been married to for a year. I thought that I knew what love was back then, only to have truly found it now in my husband. I am so taken by this video, because to me, it represents one of the most liberating aspects of love; freedom. To be completely at home in another person's soul; to know that they are at home in yours. To know that they will be a constant source of love, support, friendship, and understanding; all of it creates the purest feeling of freedom because you know that together, there is nothing that you cannot do. Revisiting this video with this new understanding lead to me ugly crying (out of gratitude, haha!), because I now know what it is to be loved like how this beautiful performance represents so perfectly. I wish for everyone that they find this love in their lifetime.
Marianella Nunez is an outstanding artist ! in addition of her incredible ballerina skills she's a great actress as well. I saw many ballet, rehearsals, interviews from her and I am always moved by the subtle humanity coming from her. She is a precious gift for ballet lovers as me.
I wish I could "like" this a few more times! It's wonderful. Marianela Nunez is perfect in this role. I wish the Royal Ballet would put this performance on DVD. I saw it at the movie theater and it's gorgeous.
The most romantic pas de deux I’ve ever seen. What Marianela does after the kiss is absolutely amazing. The joy, the passion, the lightness, the jumps, the hugs, everything is beautiful. They’re both so awesome. ❤❤❤
i watch the one with natalie and VLADIMIR SHKLYAROV. he is sexy and passionate and fun-loving. and there is one moment, well maybe two that take my breath away. a very different portrayal of des grieux. ruclips.net/video/lxWN9agwC2k/видео.html&start_radio=1
She is probably the best South American Ballerina of a generation, rather as Osipova can be said to be the same as a Russian Ballerina, and Lauren Cuthbertson the same for English Ballet. They are so different, and so gifted, each in their own way.
Helen Wang I did know about the Sarah/Vadim release, but having seen this clip I want the rest the performance. Marianela was born for this role just as she’s my ideal Kitri.
A lot of classical ballets will have one or two "big" kisses, but sometimes they don't - it depends on which production and choreography you're watching 😊
Measure the mastery of these dancers and this orchestra: Watch this again, and again and again and it continues to live and to breathe. Breathtaking. Sublime. Alive!! Viva Marianela!
Still watching. Federico is a phenomenal partner, I think? So tuned in, intuitive, attentive. I’m not a dancer, I’m a horse trainer-and horses have a way of listening with their whole bodies, and of giving themselves to us that, if we trust them, they will place their power and grace in our service... this is what I see in this pas de deux.
This is the most romantic ballet piece I have ever seen, it evokes such strong feelings in me. I revisit it now and then, when I miss him too much, and I get chills every time. How can you not think of your own unrequited love when you watch them, when you hear this music? He’s all I think about when I close my eyes and listen. I picture him smiling, I play over the memory of the little tint of green in his deep blue eyes glistening underneath a flourescent light. I hope he smiled a lot today. I miss the way he would make me a peppermint tea without asking and call me ‘little one’, and the ghost of the scent tugs my heart, writing this. He could tell you a whole story with just a look, something within him, I just have always understood, even the night we met, I understood. We were never truly strangers. Something about this piece, I don’t just hear it, I feel it. It makes me ache, but in a way that makes me feel both broken beyond repair and as whole as I possibly can, because I feel it with such intensity that even my darkest wounds battle to wake up and be beautiful again. It’s such a warm and real, lovely sounding piece, much like my unrequited love, and he is just as warm and lovely, and sincere and beautiful. He is beautiful. And love is simply not a strong enough word.
@@strawberrydreamgirl1248 I haven’t seen him in over eight months, spoken to him either. Outside my window is flaming pink, it reminds me of an August night in my garden two years ago, with him. I haven’t missed him like this in so long, haven’t allowed myself to indulge in the deep burrows of my unrequited love. It hurts tonight. But the family of blackbirds outside are enjoying the flaming pink against the breeze, and I try to do the same. But it hurts. I’m clawing on to every fragment of him I can remember, every shade of blue in his eyes I used to count at the breakfast table, every touch on my shoulder, every time he cheated in a board game when he thought I didn’t notice, all his stubborn attempts to feed me a bite of his dinner, all the times he spoke about his parents, a thousand miles away in his home country, that look I still can’t pinpoint in his eyes when he called me a ‘cloud person’ in the museum, we were wearing masks, all I could see were his eyes. But I saw him, more than I ever did, in those few seconds. My heart is bruised and heavy from years of nailing these memories into it, I am bleeding out and willingly, all the while, he is probably looking at the same sky, painted pink and on fire, forgetting me.
