IMHO there is no other ballet except Classical Ballet. The same syllabus Mikhaïl Baryschnikov and Natalia Makarova studied and danced with ease, grace and beauty. I am grateful I got to see Mikhail dance in person, in Atlanta, in the early 70’s. He was in his prime and it will always be a cherished memory! I studied and instructed the same methodology of Classical Ballet for 20 years. I feel there is no other method that makes sense to me. Once you begin studying Classical Ballet all the pieces fit into place perfectly and you understand the purpose for every placement, movement and exercise at the barre. 💗
I have many full length ballets of this phenomenal Russian dancer and I saw her in Giselle at La Scala with the equally wonderful American, Mr David Hallberg. Just watching this again reminds me how truly great Miss Zacharova is and that it was a privilege to have seen her in a live performance.
Equally wonderful? American doesn't have the same depth of emotional expression as Russian have. This is what we call art, not jumping at stage. Not equal
She was meant to dance these roles with her amazing musicality, artistry and commitment to ballet. Thank you!! It was a pleasure to watch Svetlana. 🌹🌹💕💕❤❤
I absolutely agree with these selections! And in my opinion, all three ballet productions are outstanding and belong to my favorites! And I've never seen anything like Zakharova's Odile, when she is using these swan movements with the music of No. 19.V - so great....

My two favorite ballerinas of this era are Svetlana and Diana Vishneva. Svetlana has incredible line. Both dancers have exquisite upper body and arms from their training at the Vaganova. I was fortunate to view a live performance of Vishneva in La Bayadere. She has a very supple back and in the positions that required a back arch, she was gorgeous.

Не могу объяснить, тут для меняи балерина из шкатулочка, такая идеаьная, что невозможно человеку так повторить, и сахарная, очень хрупкая фигурка, и невероятные "", которые делают каждое движение вытянутым и особенным. И эмоции, и образ героини. Вот про это настоящий танец ❤

Well, Makarova was Indeed a wonderful ballerina, but nothing compared to Plissetskaya, the greatest Russian ballerina of the second part of the xxth century. As a Russian journalist once wrote : Makarova is a good imitation of Plissetskaya, but she is not her size ».
Baryshnikov is ass licker of West. That's why it is so popular there, supported by politicians he doesn't have the best body for ballet, he is stocky, chunky, he jump as goat scene but it is not an art. Nykolay Tsiskaridze has ideal body and dance, Nyriev is ideal, he is fluttering at stage, but not Baryshnikov.
If you call Macarova the best in history, you don't know history of ballet. Ylanova, Pavlova, Plysetskaya are history of ballet. When Ylanova was dancing in London, Queen Elizabeth 2 was there. Everyone was uploading for Yalonova and forgot about Queen that day.
You really do not need to understand a lot of ballet, to see that she is an absolute beautyful almost perfect dancer. ❣️In my personal opinion, she is one of , or if not maybe the best ballerina❣️❣️
I always wondered how Nikiya was able to dance around so rigorously with the basket like that without disturbing the snake. Only until she stopped the allegro movements does the snake decide to get saucy. 😅 Bravo, Sveta! How lovely! She is undoubtedly one of my favorite Odile variatiins but I also love when she plays Aurora.
svetlana has always been my favourite because she always tells the story with her face. every emotion is different and it shows. she has such grace and poise and tbh broskis i wish i could dance like her lol

Reason: virtually very few can produce the ghost like floating effect like she can 3. Black swan. Reason agree with the last one, her black swan is one of the most exciting yet senshual and seductive. Some runner ups: Odette variation Giselle first act variation Aegina variation La bayadere Nikya death but the la scala one with Roberto Bolle La bayadere second act shade variation Pharoah’s daughter Dryad queen variation
@@DanceLineBallet thank you! I know this is an unpopular opinion but I also really like her Carmen. I thought she brought very different artistry than other more well received ones, in that it’s senshual (I have to spell it incorrectly because of RUclips auto deletion 🙁) but at the same time inhumanly ballet like. Whereas other better received Carmen dancers dance it a bit too modern, which is nice too but I like ballet for its ballet qualities that differ from modern dances. Really the only performance from Zakharova that I don’t like is her Juliet.
@@carmen9330 completely disagree. Osipova’s Giselle is not “floaty” at all she’s bouncy. Her Giselle entrance where she flies across the stage is very impressive and legendary, but the rest of the second act she does it overly dramatic, lacking the ghostly grace and gravity that Zakharova has. Just because a dancer is very athletic and can do impressive jumps doesn’t mean she’s then good at everything ballet. In order to float across the stage you have to have the perfection of lines and delicacy of footwork that Zakharova has, which Osipova does not have (she even admitted this herself).
The only ballerina who dances with her arms as beautifully as with her legs - one can just watch her arms. I’ve seen her Swan Lake - now it’s impossible to watch anyone else, even my favourite Osipova!

When it comes to Giselle, that ghost floating effect is really best performed by Osipova
