Just for the FYI and chuckles. That much maligned Loop Of Shame is actually quite handy for evading NPC pirates when you're pretty sure they are tailing you but you just don't feel like dealing with them.
I am making good merits doing bounty hunting in res's in a system that is ran by your faction of choice. Buy yourself a couple of expensive items from the market (to attract pirates) then head over to a low or standard res (I do not recommend res's higher than that because carrying the cargo WILL attract the pirates - which we want but do not want to get over pegged) every kill you make money and merits, if you have collector limpets use them to collect ship parts for your engineering needs and make sure to pick up escape pods as the make very good merits also. So basically its a win win WIN ! :)
I always stack wing pirate killing missions from stations around the area I'm going to be grinding. I get tons of engineering materials and money and I play in Multicrew alot and share them with other players. For me this is roughly 3k merits an hour which isn't great because I'd have to play for 325 hours doing this to achieve max rank. But the flip side is that it's basically all of the farming all at once. Meanwhile you can fly to a stronghold carrier and blow up fighters to get 10k an hour with no other benefit and actually a ton of other issues. Or earn a fleet carrier and get way more by storing rare goods and doing so with very little effort.
Ya this worked Day 1 when I did a video on it at a rate of 46,000 per hour. Not so much right now. But mining seems to be around 5-6k per hour in the right systems and I have a very fun way to do 6500 per hour with kills but without getting bounties. Rates will come back though so if you watch this video a few months after it was made try rares again ;)
Ive been just hitting what has the most quantity (on inara with in ~160ly) with my type 8 (320 inventory). Altair, Kamitra, Leesti, Vega, and Kuma for rare goods then Ive been dropping off in Diaguandri (Li Yong-Rui) i made about 10k merits my last trip. (last run done was 11/13/24 around 3pm MNT) Hopefully this works for others *cheers*!
2 steps forward, 3 steps back. They made the gameplay fun and engaging, but that means nothing since the amount of gameplay you need to do to get anything makes it an unfun grind.
I found the Vega/Altair shuttle to be really efficient - you can get 158t in just two stops that are really close together. Vega is permit-locked, though, and having FC nearby is what really makes it work
@Mile13Gaming I used a Clipper for a combination of speed and cargo space, and with my FC close to a nearby star I could do a full loopr in about 12 minutes
Just a small comment - please do not try to earn merits (or credits) the quickest and easiest way. Play Elite the way you like, you will still earn merits and credits, maybe slower, but you could enjoy the game much more...
I agree although there are moments you want to push this or that for whatever reason... But yea, these routes are gonna be full of gankers so you should traverse them in solo and imo that takes the magic away from the game...
Agree with this but Fdev have made it so hard to get to a good rank they don't respect the players time at all. So we have to do things like this. Just doing combat which is most fun would take you ages to rank up
There's so much more to do in the game also that I want PP2.0 rewards but I don't want to spend 4hrs everyday just gaining merits. Their balancing is way off in regards to respecting someone's time vs achieving stuff on their game. Alot of ED player base is older than average....meaning we all have jobs, businesses, families. You can't expect the average player to want to play ED for the rewards but also neglect a marriage 😂
Absolutely agree, people are rushing this ladder and then will complain about there being nothing to do. On the flipside, there are people who enjoy playing this way and to each, their own.. I personally like to mix it up, so i'm just gonna jump on and try this route now because I can, and i'm bored and want to fly ships.
One could also collect meta-alloys from Hyades sector aq-y d-81 (can’t remember planet) for a slightly more dynamic grind. It’s good for some “starting out” nostalgia and they’re technically rare.
So, good video but point of note. They didn't nerf the volume, the bgs nerfed the volume based on a variety of things not limited to but including previous tic sales
When I found I could get 4500 merits for a load of 80 Soontill Relics at launch my first thought was "Well that was cool, wonder how long before they nerf this?" But to my surprise, I think this is good balance and fdev did ok just adjusting supply. It shouldn't be dead easy, make me think a little. Thanks for the advice!
@@Mile13Gaming I use my Corvette; you can take some NPC pounding if need be while the limpets are working, and kill them if desired for more credits. So I did try that, and I can't seem to get it to work. I get NPC ships spawning (not fighters), and have to duck out eventually after taking out a few, and get giant bounties on my head. Even after shooting the fighter bay. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I think it's time to bring out the big guns for this: my AFK Type 10 seems like the perfect ship for the job
You forgot to pick up “Leathery Eggs” at Ridley Scott Station in Zaonce.
Just 5 eggs are not really worth the stop, imho.
Good point. But you might get a zenomoroh. Imagine what that sells for? If you survive.
Yeah, I skipped those because it's so few, it's not worth it. But love the Aliens reference they threw in. :)
I glad that I unlocked every module back then. This is just old fashion grind.
Same.
close to uninstalling elite over this crap
The grind is the initial part, thankfully there's a good deal more going on with pp2.0 than the old one. It's actually kind of fun to participate in.
@@timbrown9905 What are those "good deals"?
there is a new one though

The currently lower supply of rare goods did not got nerfed, but is the result of the market mechanics.

Nice! I'll give those a try!
This is exactly how I got to level 118 in the first week. It’s just slower now.
This feels like even more of a grind then powerplay 1.0. Seriously what a major step back

Are you saying there is no "merit" to the idea that systems in Boom gives more rare goods?

Fair point. 👍
Time for my type 8 to shine!

It’s not really a nerf. It’s an old mechanic that limits quantity when demand is high. Happens during community events as well.
I am making close to that with collecting occupied escape pods. You can collect and hand in in same system

Pretty sure i was earning credits for selling rares in Exploited systems as well.... can anyone confirm ?
You should try the stronghold method.. killing gu-97 fighters with seekers. 72 merits a kill and its consistent

15k merrits/h possible now with killing passengers in anarchy system and selling capsules in stronghold system.

Ah Elite....this is "gameplay".
No, Elite gameplay is 'forge your own path'
If players choose to watch how-to-grind videos and then go off and grind for themselves, that's on them.
