It's not nerfed it's the BGS doing its thing with supply and demand. Lots of people moving the same product drives down supply. Once orrerian brew and diso corn went down I tried soontill relics which were still at 80 supply. Today they're down to 16.

100% agreed that combat should receive at least a slight buff. I've been bounty hunting since the launch of PP2 for a couple hours nearly everyday and racked up only around 3k merits... At this pace, it will take me around two years to max out my loyalty (assuming my faction will still exist that far in the future) Thanks for the vid :)
slight? all powerplay 2.0 needs adjusted atm. even if they only adjust it so that the weekly tasks give about 1 rank per week easily, and farming activities let you grind out a rank every couple of hours it would be so much better.
Where have you been bounty hunting? I've been in haz res with Corvette and the biggest bounty was 1.3m for 97 merits. If you can kill them fast, it racks up over time. Find the sweetspot for your killing potential. Dont be going haz res in your sidewinder for example
Try going to a system with a faction experiencing the following conditions: Bust, Civil Unrest, War, Civil War, Terrorist Attack, Outbreak. And look for an installation. If there is one, there is a decently high chance that the installation will be attacked by waves of criminals with bounties ranging from 142k (roughly 14 merits) all the way up to 2.043 million credits (roughly 200 merits). Be sure to bring a Warrant Scanner for this and you'll be rolling in credits and merits. Works pretty well if you bring a ship with SLF compatability since your NPC or friends can join you and bankroll merits together if they're with the same faction. Sadly still demolished by rare goods trading.

The new powerplay system, based on what power you pledge and what you like to do, fixes this issue because it gives you credits per week, rebuy discount and quite a bit of materials when you rank up

frontier did a good job reworking the mission rewards - since a bunch of patches, you can get high grade mats, and way more of them, incl raw mats, as mission rewards :) with the type-8 now out for cr, and it being very good for long range hauling with it's jump range and sco capability, I highly recommend it for such missions - feels way less grindy to get my raw mats like that, some twelve at a time

Fun fact: You can do what I'm gonna call a 'Zeus Drop' by combining the SCO and SC Assist. You cant activate SCO while SC Assist is active BUT you CAN leave SC Assist active waiting to take over and activate SCO while keeping yourself aimed just below your target. When you get withing 6-9 seconds to arrival(or to be safer 300LS or so), simply turn off SCO and pitch up and let SC assist take over. No need to slow down or anything, SC assist will drop you out automatically regardless what speed you're going.. SC assist also auto aligns you, the only thing it doesn't do is fly to a spot where you won't hit the planet or not fly past the planet(if youre trying to land at a settlement).
I never bothered dabbling with the SC assist and auto docking modules. Once you get to the last 10 seconds to your destination, drop reduce your speed and keep in at a minimum 6 and no higher than 10 and you’ll glide perfectly to your destination and you’ll have a spare slot in your ship for something else :) You’ll never overshoot your target and you’ll get that dopamine when destination planet starts hurtling towards you and you slide in like a pro.
@chrisclark6705 I promise you combining SCO and SC Assist you will never be able to match the speed at which you can go from the star and your destination as it can, on your own(manually). Im talking going 1.2k LS in about 15 seconds rather than 2 minutes doing it the "6 second rule" way. Because no matter how good you are youll never be able to drop out at the space station while going 40c manually. Nor do you have to time the SCO so that the slowdown period allows you to properly slow down enough for you to hit the sweet spot for dropping.(SC Assist ignores this) Like I said the only thing this combination can't do is get you to a planetary settlement this fast, safely. Bc it tries to enter orbit which causes you to miss the planet. And in the event you lock onto a station and as you're flying there in SCO it's actually behind the planet so you slam into the planet and have to wait for the ECD. But those events are easily avoided with some practice.
@@chrisclark6705 I will say there is a bit of a learning curve to doing it just right. Turning off the SCO before letting SC Assist take over. Etc. So you might fly past your destination as quite a few times until you get it down but once you master it, you'll have significantly faster SC travel times. You also might slam into quite a few planets as they materialize in front of you so fast you can barely react XD but even in both of those situations you'll still get to your destination slightly faster than the normal 6 second rule.
turn on manual throttle on supercruise assist and if you hold throttle up or throttle down it will disengage the supercruise assist until you put the throttle back in blue so you can SCO while still having the assist active. it wont prevent SCO if it is outside the blue and will start to correct the moment you move back. I activate supercruise assist to line up then deactivate it to SCO and then dethrottle when within 7 seconds. it really cuts down on travel time without losing the assist completely
The full route is odd. I have a 372t T8 and I do Orrere > Uszaa > Diso > Lave. @elvoandro7087 sothis gold. Sontil relics is another good one. Sells for about 38 merits per unit and is located in the bubble. But it's sold in groups of 80 instead of the 45 of the sothis gold.
Agree with the buffs over nerfs thing. To an extent they do similar things, but one is seen as a punishment. Hopefully FDev has learned to do the same thing as back when Combat got a 10x (iirc) credit buff, finally making it worth more than mining. Was a needed buff. Also the "slipping" thing is easier with "manual throttle" SCA, which only does the assist at 75% throttle, not max (so on/off is all in the throttle.) Use SCO to get close to 6-7 seconds. If it's over that keep the throttle maxed, only using SCO when it's VERY over that. Once at 6 or so seconds keep assist until the mark on the meter to the left shows up. Usually then you're good to floor it down to 3 seconds as long as you can get the assist again before the station flies by. May take some attempts. Also planets act as brakes due to gravity. Aim close but not directly at them.
From what I'm seeing so far, the merits are dependent on the sell price of the rare goods, rewarding 1 merit for every 1025 credits, at least for the two goods used in the video, for Arissa Lavigny-Duval reinforcement systems. I will be trying this with other goods and seeing how that compares with these numbers. Note that it is not tied to the profit or to the number of goods. Rare commodities sell for more the further from their source, maxing out at around 160 ly.
I hope PP2 takes off well. I'd love to get in my Type 9 brawler hauler in open to risk fights and do worthwhile trades without having to bite that rebuy cost so badly once I have enough ranks for that discount to start coming into effect. The solo gameplay has been getting stiff for me the last few years and this gives me incentive to participate with the ships I enjoy, in open, no matter how sub optimal they are in a fight or whatever
Brawler Hauler sounds like a beast but honestly running in open ain't that bad all being said! I've been running Open Play forever and even now with a fresh account as of recent I'm still running open in a keelback full of Opals XD Take the risk its hella fun knowing there's a possibility of something going down, it's a good buzz! I encourage you to get stuck in :D
I did see in the codex about power play that dumping low cost commodities in another power's system can earn you merits as you flood the market. I wonder if the merits are competitive. Lots of power play methods I still need to try.
As for the signal sources I went to a system that I was fortifying in conflict with 3 other powers, and all 7 ships in the instance was a mix of all my enemies. Got a couple hundred merits out of that single instance. It was a convoy signal at a threat level of like 3-4, I forgot which.
That's fine... for everyone who isn't running BGS and some people are destroying the system that others may have been working on for years. as long as you have fun.
So for me i just do the brews going to hip 22933 (only picked up aisling for the quick shields ill bail on her later) but i get 3120 merits per 128t. the system is 201.7ly away *shrugs*
Is this truck simulator or elite dangerous? The merits awarded is too low. Everything needs to be buffed for merits gain. Or the requirements for all the rewards down. Like unlock first module at rank 5, 2nd at 8 etc.
This is so typical for developers. They think of something, have it tested before release, find it good, bring it live and then the players find out ways that the developers didn't consider (because they're too stupid?) and then change it again because that's how it is wasn't thought of. Instead of saying "okay then the players were smarter than us, that's just the way it is" no... their own incompetence is passed on to others and the players are punished. Well done FD.
Based on the amount of stock I'm seeing for rare goods now, it seems like the nerf was in-built to the market. I get about the same merits now floating outside of my carrier in an unshielded iEagle popping any faction that tries to dock that isn't mine.
I think i ran into you a few times over there over the weekend. May i ask why not recommend orrere, uszaa, diso, lave, and leesti for a single route. They're all well known areas with orerre being actively camped by Edmund supporters.
@indigointoblack ah, fair. Plus, the more instances of being around other players, the more risk involved. I might just change up my strategy then after a Shinra visit.....I sacrificed shields to hold more cargo for the entire area.
I'm not doing that, not even for the rank 34 ! So PP is not a thing. Frontier have this skill to develop stuff i just want to avoid, and for the one i love, leave them broken. ^^
On Inara you can go to data - commodities - rare commodities then put wherever you want to go as the reference system (closest at bottom) or are these rare commodities special?
Can someone please clarify my confusion in that, when you're pledged to one power most of the others will fire on you as soon as you go to their stations? does it show you who will fire on you before you pledge to any one faction? if this is the case does that mean you will be severely limited no matter who you pledge to with respect to where you can trade safely'ish? (excuse the noobness)
@@indigointoblack Ah i see, thanks, i'm fairly apt at zipping in the slot for a landing without scans, but it only takes one mis-calc and yeaaa haha, I'd hate to have to replace a bigger ship too often, when those stations light you up its a shit show
I've been going between hostile and my pledged power for the last 24 hours and can honestly say I've had no problems being in other power's systems. No scans, no interdictions, no nothing. Enemies didn't even attack at the Power source things in deep space when I came across them, just scanned me and buggered off.
Wasn't Rare Goods Trading a previous meta? Isn't this the same method to be Emperor, King, President in the Major Faction rank list too? What's up with FDEV's lack of imagination?
Why are merit gains so low? I never touched engineering until they changed it because i just cant commit to doing an activity i dont find fun in my own free time. I spend my time exploring and blazing my own trail. If merits is going to be a grind i’ll likely bot even bother getting involved with the system altogether. I’ll pledge for myself.
Yeah, my question exactly. Introduce a new feature, see a rash of videos showing how to 'beat' it asap, then more videos complaining that ED is nothing but grind and there hasn't been a new feature since last week.
to anyone reading this who is wondering why this isnt working rn fdev disabled rare goods trading to rebalance it and presumably nerf it into the ground
I haven't pledged yet, seems unnecessary grindy. Additionally with the downside of being attacked on sight by other powers when pledged even if not actively working against their power, which seems a bit unimmersive imho, I'm not sure if it's worth it to me, if it takes me like 3 years to get the modules.
Don't think they could nerf it as the people that are wining the ranking race used trade the top person has like nearly 1 million merits and if they nerf it now it would screw everyone one else over. and Combat should give the exact same merits to profit ratio as trading
I keep trying to find enthusiasm for powerplay...but somehow it just bores the F outta me. Im only interested in getting some packhounds. The rest is just grind.😢
most important question, is it open only mode now? if not fdev can burry it. Why? its a competitive thing. being rivaled by extra instanced solo and coop players is just plain stupid.
@@Josephkerr101 I haven't done rares since before planetary landings and engineering ... tooling around in an ASP filling up with whatever stock there was then moving onto the next, selling stuff as you go to make room. nah i lost interest in pp as soon as they disabled exploration and exobiology. so people who spent weeks exploring and collecting data now getting punished. and again, day or two after this video even trading got fked over by cutting supply of rare goods to 20% original. why fdews have that stupid idea that people like to suffer by playing their pp i have no idea. after the final titan, game will go silent again....
I’ll make “Slipping in” a bit simpler. As long as you are around 2.00 C speed you can swing into super cruise assist lock at lower than 5 seconds out and it will do just fine in getting you in there hot AF. Get to within 2.99 C Speed while super cruise assist selected on the source, then swing in at 4-5 seconds. 🫡

Aim close but not directly at them.
Hell of a grind, but thanks for the HUD and OFF I GO...chasing those damn merrits.
🤣👍🥃
you just showed in the pilots hand book it says acquisition system, but than said reinforcement, which one is it
From what I'm seeing so far, the merits are dependent on the sell price of the rare goods, rewarding 1 merit for every 1025 credits, at least for the two goods used in the video, for Arissa Lavigny-Duval reinforcement systems. I will be trying this with other goods and seeing how that compares with these numbers.
Note that it is not tied to the profit or to the number of goods.
Rare commodities sell for more the further from their source, maxing out at around 160 ly.
Good video, thanks very much!
" You might see some combat "
-- Oh, you're going to see some combat....
Ill be waiting in my corvette for that juicy type 9.
Brawler Hauler sounds like a beast but honestly running in open ain't that bad all being said! I've been running Open Play forever and even now with a fresh account as of recent I'm still running open in a keelback full of Opals XD
Take the risk its hella fun knowing there's a possibility of something going down, it's a good buzz! I encourage you to get stuck in :D
I did see in the codex about power play that dumping low cost commodities in another power's system can earn you merits as you flood the market. I wonder if the merits are competitive. Lots of power play methods I still need to try.
yea I wonder the same, unfortunately I cannot get the other trade activities to work, stumped rn
Like unlock first module at rank 5, 2nd at 8 etc.
sell 256 rare comodians - recive 356 Merits
Don ´ t forget to take cheap crap with you, when you fly to Diso…
I think one way of balancing is to keep the progress once you switch powers. Otherwise I find the old power play much better and balanced.
Rare Goods at Sharon Lee and George Lucas Stations down to 32 and 12 atm...
What did they nerf about exploration?
I think i ran into you a few times over there over the weekend. May i ask why not recommend orrere, uszaa, diso, lave, and leesti for a single route. They're all well known areas with orerre being actively camped by Edmund supporters.
the way I see it the extra 2-3 jumps isn’t worth it at their respective supplies, but the route is still valid, I just prefer diso-orrere
@indigointoblack ah, fair. Plus, the more instances of being around other players, the more risk involved. I might just change up my strategy then after a Shinra visit.....I sacrificed shields to hold more cargo for the entire area.
The issue for me is finding a station that sells a high number of rares. All the ones I see are quantities of 30 or less.
Alors c'est quoi le mieux entre cette astuce et l'achat de d'Or cristallin de Sothis?
I'm not doing that, not even for the rank 34 !
So PP is not a thing.
Frontier have this skill to develop stuff i just want to avoid, and for the one i love, leave them broken. ^^
Pretty much same info I had in my video. The best route I found gives 18650 merits at 206 light years for delivery of 320 rares .
Quel est cet itinéraire du coup? ca me parait très intéressant
@ I show it. There are a few options.
What are rares? I looked on commodities list and saw nothing listed as such, gave up, left power and headed out to explore space.
Thanks
Doesn’t this only work if you’re apart of that specific faction for those systems?
Just set a key for 75% and one for 100% much easier than slipping in.
Wow how do you get so much supplies ?
Unfortunately only 30 pieces are available. Why were you able to buy 120 pieces?
On Inara you can go to data - commodities - rare commodities then put wherever you want to go as the reference system (closest at bottom) or are these rare commodities special?
you could totally get your own route, this one is popular because of the rather high supply.
I was getting 4117 every 13 minutes
idk if this got nerfed but now u cant just buy that much of rare products, every place has a limit stock of less that 100
Can someone please clarify my confusion in that, when you're pledged to one power most of the others will fire on you as soon as you go to their stations? does it show you who will fire on you before you pledge to any one faction? if this is the case does that mean you will be severely limited no matter who you pledge to with respect to where you can trade safely'ish?
(excuse the noobness)
they turned down the npc aggressiveness a lot, but if you wanna make sure you're safe run cold or use silent running
@@GoateeMcGoatFaceoh nice, sounds like they dialed it back decently then. Cheers 07
They only attack you in Stronghold systems now, and you can always pop a heatsink/run silent until docked.
Does it matter where you sell your Rares to?
Wasn't Rare Goods Trading a previous meta? Isn't this the same method to be Emperor, King, President in the Major Faction rank list too? What's up with FDEV's lack of imagination?
Is INARA oudated? Because it says allocation is 32, but I've seen 128 a couple of times already.
@@danielb.8340 yea… not sure what happened
Does anyone know how much does actual pvp get you? Maybe that's the thing we're missing?
Why are merit gains so low?
I never touched engineering until they changed it because i just cant commit to doing an activity i dont find fun in my own free time. I spend my time exploring and blazing my own trail.
If merits is going to be a grind i’ll likely bot even bother getting involved with the system altogether. I’ll pledge for myself.
it's not supposed to be quick, what are you gonna do when you finally get to Rank 100, never gonna do PP activities ever again? just stop playing?
Yeah, my question exactly. Introduce a new feature, see a rash of videos showing how to 'beat' it asap, then more videos complaining that ED is nothing but grind and there hasn't been a new feature since last week.
to anyone reading this who is wondering why this isnt working rn
fdev disabled rare goods trading to rebalance it and presumably nerf it into the ground
can you do all that in solo and still get merits???
on peut pas en stocker + sur un fleet et ensuite partir tout vendre?
Oh look the strategy I was planning to do got a RUclips video and became mainstream! And got nerfed into the ground. Why do I even bother.
LMAOOOO
@ I know. I set my expectations way to high and got burned. Expecting powerplay 2 to be playable upon release pfft.
No. Not OPEN only.
This was stated clearly when it was launched.
yes, it sucks that and misses the point of PP ... yet that is what FDev has chosen
so not worth doing then should have left it as it was
Rares get more valuable the further you take them from where you bought them.
Out to 150 lys
@@Josephkerr101 I haven't done rares since before planetary landings and engineering ... tooling around in an ASP filling up with whatever stock there was then moving onto the next, selling stuff as you go to make room.
That may actually have been when the bubble was still a bubble and you couldn't venture out past known space.
@@oomwat6101 @oomwat6101 right now I'm trying to refine for efficiency as an elite trader. A lot of guides and videos are doing fleet carriers and measuring by hour. I measure merits by minute. Currently I find it faster to do a short route than a long route, but faster to use a carrier. 90 merits per minute on short route, 75-80 on long route. 135 merits for carrier method.
If you find any one of those appealing I hope it works for your strategy and mainly I hope you have fun. This kind of thing is my fun lol
@@Josephkerr101
Seems to be closer to 250ly now
@@Bean41 it's possible my info is incorrect. It's early. I should have specified that I've seen results stopped at 150ly. Let me know if you have seen consistent results beyond that.
After the last patch it seems that this is no longer working.
Are people eating up the rare goods supplies? All those places had 16-40 supplies each sadly. =(
FDev "nerfed" the supply
@@vagabondquerier9375 Yea so sad =(
so what I'm gathering from this is "powerplay will take so unbelievably long to rank up, it's not worth it"
eh, not really.
It's meant to be something additional to the existing gameplay. Do what you enjoy, but focus where you do it a little more. You'll rank up organically.
The people who are determined to hit rank 100 in a week will stop playing next week and complain there's nothing to do, so I suggest you ignore what they're up to.
@@Sighman looking at the number of merits I get, it's going to take at least years, maybe decades to get any significant rank without determined grinding
167,000 merits to get to Rank24 to unlock 10% extra for Exo payout...that seems Waaaayyyyyy to long to do, especially if it still halves your merits for some reason each week
It doesnt half your merits anymore, that is why it is higher now
Ayo Fezzy?
your profit on rare goods is based on distance w/ a cap
highly sus that FDEV will nerf this
nerfed, supply of rares r three times lower now
Considering it used to take a year to get all the modules, this new system might not be so bad.
nerfed quantities by 3/4 so this is crap now
PP2 is just another strategy to keep you in game with no more gameplay, space trucking, scanning etc. i have done this to get rank with faction and dont want to do this anymore, this is so boring..
Liked for promoting Open only Power Play
That's what a Pirate would say🤔
@Maxtomator Power Play is player groups VS player group contest => pvp. Doing it in solo/PG makes it a brainless grind with no opposition.
I think that open only could work but only during a time period where the servers are consistently well performing. During day 2 solo was the only playable experience at all for me.
cargo is just as fast as just bounty hunting lmfao what are you even on about
The Devs already screwed it up! I think this power play sucks!
Do merits decay like before?
lol already totally nerfed
wow i just ended my run of rare goods acquisition and when i sold all of it to my HQ, not one single merit received....
Must never sell to a HQ, no merits

You did not know this was coming for the last year ...
plus it was delayed 3 times ... 1st week of September to last week of Oct

@@vagabondquerier9375 Oh look, some 12 yr old got mad because I criticised PP2.0, go cry a river, LOL.
Anyone without a Fleet Carrier needs to take 2 weeks to get the 5 billions required using their lowly Python haulers. Run outpost trade missions for Palladium and other items required by manufacturing. Seriously, what are you waiting for? nah i lost interest in pp as soon as they disabled exploration and exobiology. so people who spent weeks exploring and collecting data now getting punished. and again, day or two after this video even trading got fked over by cutting supply of rare goods to 20% original.
why fdews have that stupid idea that people like to suffer by playing their pp i have no idea.
after the final titan, game will go silent again....
