I’ve seen it hit “60 max” when stripped and engineered for pure jump range. I’d say “54-55 current” when stripped and outfitted for exploration is doable.
As we speak, AXI is already trying to keep up with enough achievements that will cover what their pilots will be doing next with the T8 such as killing a hydra using only mining lasers, killing two hydras with stock gear, killing a hydra blindfolded, killing a hydra blindfolded upside down using no sound cues with the ship powered off and only the force of mind, so on and so forth
I'm waiting for Mechan to score a Hydra kill on foot using just a flight suit and a power transfer tool. I would accept him using a Dominator except that Interceptors can't deploy Thargon swarms planetside, so something has to be done to keep it a challenge.
Hydra down. As for the other challenges … A) mining lasers alas cannot kill interceptors; B) Double Hydra unengineered has been done, just not in the Type 8, and the Type 8 is unlikely to swing it unfortunately; C) blindfolded kills - only done a Cyclops, could theoretically do a Basi and maybe even a Dusa, with a LOT of practice, but the Gimballed Multicannons required don’t have enough DPS to do a Hydra blindfolded. And alas, I don’t think blindfolded with fixed weapons will ever happen 😅. As to killing a Hydra with the force of mind, watch Eagle vs Hydra - that comes fiendishly close 😂.
The game seems to be slowly coming back alive. There's prolly three more systems to be revamped before we start adding new brand new game loops. The fleet carriers component., the on foot exploration component and the on foot fps component. This game deserves more love. These things should have been done ages ago. It's slow. But i see a bright future for this game if FDev keeps going in the right direction.
We need gameplay loops that revolve more around exploration of planets or on-foot fight with new small Thargoids. Things that involve less staring at repetitive loading screens a.k.a FSD jumps. They could also implement a proper third person camera (with clipping, character/ship follow, a hud, etc) and make mining into a proper ranked category, it's a sham that the pathetic plant classification minigame that is Exobiology get's it's own rank but Mining is still folded under trading after all these years when it has much more involved and distinct gameplay.

I do BGS for fun and profit, and one of the mission types I try to avoid is the "Deliver 196 t of to somewhere far away". This sounds like the ideal ship to double up missions and get twice the INF in the same amount of time, thus making these missions far more helpful if INF is in short supply. I wonder if it has the range to do two missions simultaneously (so 392 t of cargo) with an FSD booster of some description.
yep, exactly my thought re 2 x missions at once, and I've already built a T8 to do so. You can also build one with the 7A multilimpet for every possible combination of limpet-type missions, e.g. hatchbreaking megaships to collecting black boxes, etc.
I'm looking forward to getting behind the helm of the Python Mk2. I might treat myself and pre-buy the Type-8 this time! Also I hope the rebalancing is as good as it sounds!

All this recent dev activity (and the fact that I'm burnt out on Starfield and Cyberpunk) has me falling in love all over again after a 2+ year hiatus from E:D
I can't believe what's been going on in my hiatus. I transfered my console account to PC, picked up the expansion and activated - deactivated carrier facilities. It's go time.
I’ll definitely be getting a T-8, mainly for mining. I like the Lakon ships and pilot a T-10 99% of the time. Looking forward to it but not sure if I’ll get it early or wait until November. I’m currently offline and have been for 2.5 months so can’t wait to get back into space again.
T8 look great in vr . Lots of attention to detail . ( nor seen it mentioned, but have you noticed the 4 main thruster clusters on the back move to better vector thrust, especially if you climb or dive )
What it does best is make the T7 look even worse. Before the T8, the T7 was shorter in length, width, and mass than medium ships, but couldn't use a medium pad. Best reasoning was that it couldn't fit the bay because it was taller than any medium ship (but not by much). The T8 is larger than the T7 in all ways (length, width, height, and mass) and can use medium pads. So there was never an actual reason why a T7 couldn't have used a medium pad.
so i brought the type 8 with some left over ARC X that i had after purchasing the pre build package of the pythron mk2 and havent really touched it or used it yet but i figured it would be good at mining and hauling just a matter of finding the time to get it set up for either of those. good review
As far as your mining fit goes, with 7/6/6/6/5/5/4/2/1 you would be better served by using the Class 7 slot for the 7A Universal Limpet Controller, all the 6s for Cargo, 5A Shield, 1I DSS; that leaves you 5/4/2 to fit your choice of extra cargo, limpets and a refinery (or potentially a Fuel Scoop). Whichever way you set things up, it's going to come out with some combination of more cargo, more limpets or more refinery buckets than your suggested version, simply by allocating that big 7 slot to the Universal Limpet Controller.
I used the 4 for a prospector and a 5 each for a prospector and a 5C biweave shield. I like at least 2 prospector limpets but there's no option for size 3 controller, so 5 it is.
I haven't seen the changed material mission rewards from station missions yet; still getting 2-5 of grade 4s and 5s. There's some _different_ materials that were being offered before, but no change in quantities yet that I've seen. Maybe I just misunderstood the changes.
I was secretly thinking this ship would make an amazing mining platform. This video pretty much cements that theory. Now I'm really wanting to get my hotas setup going again and try grinding for this beast unless I do what I don't want to necessarily do which is buy it with Arx.
@Byssbod My guess is it's just something different. I'm honestly not familiar myself with the Python since I never managed to get that far into the grind before my hotas issues started up and made me stop playing.

yes i will be picking up the T8 and i am going to make it a cargo ship do like the idea of a miner but i think i will wait til its available for credits to do that i want to keep it at a 0(zero) buy back just like the python mk2 that i got
For what it’s worth, when you buy an early access ship with ARX you ALSO get the ability to buy it with credits. It sounds like you plan to buy the early access one, so you can get the miner hull you want with credits at the same time (from any station that sells it)

Looking forward to playing around with the Type-8 tomorrow! I don't have any holes in my fleet's capabilities so I'm not sure how I'll configure it, but it's a damn attractive ship! It doesn't have the cargo capacity of my mining Type-9, but it would be a lot more fun to mine with, and better able to avoid pirates either in the rings or on the way to a sell location. Or I may use it to scavenge Titan wreckage.
I'm stull puttering around in Legacy on the PS4. I'm seriously considering a little gaming PC now, because this is exactly the ship I've been waiting for. Role-wise, size-wise, and - most importantly! - looks-wise, it's like the T8 was tailor-made for me! What a beauty!

Picked up the Python MkII but haven’t decided on what I want to do with it yet. Will definitely be picking up the Type 8 at early access and will be giving exploration without a vehicle hangar seeing as there is an issue with extracting the srv. About mining, I planned to make a post about this yesterday on Reddit but didn’t get a chance. tl;dr, the T8 will sadly not even come close to the Python for multi-mining capabilities due to its lack of medium hard points. It will likely have ammo problems in core mining if you try to fill it up fully. BUT, with pre-engineered mining lasers and a G5 WF SC 4A PD for 5 size 1’s + 1 size 2, or G5CESC for 4 size 1’s, the type 8 CAN deplete asteroids at a rate not too far off from a Python whilst hauling more cargo. Your setup with 3 size 1 standard mining lasers will consume 4.5MW to deplete an asteroid at the same rate as a *single* size 2 mining laser would. Which with a class A prospector means around a minute and 23 seconds to deplete one asteroid on average. This is with a distributor that maxes out at ~5 MW recharge rate (I’m forgetting the exact number right now) with G5 WF or CE SC 4a distributor. A Python with two size two mining lasers and the same set of seismic, abrasion, and subsurface launchers, will consume 6 MW firing those two lasers against its power distributor which can support that even without engineering (and with engineering could run 3) forced. And will deplete an average asteroid in half the time at 41 seconds or so, whilst carrying over half the same cargo capacity as the T8 with a shield (mining python can have around 192 cargo) The T8 is not winning any favours in the multi role department sadly, which is a pretty big bummer for me since that’s what I love doing best. For core mining specifically the T8 likely will run out of seismic charge ammo before it could fill up its hull with just one available launcher. Requiring ammo synths. That depends a lot on how much cargo you configured, though basically you have to go above 192 to “beat” the Python. *Full* laser mining though and we start getting some interesting results. So far the small amount of discussion I was seeing was basically writing off the T8 completely due to its pathetic lack of medium hard points and undersized power distributor. It just won’t be an efficient mining ship in its class. However, I ran the numbers and using the *pre-engineered* size 1 mining lasers and a G5 weapons focused SC 4A power distributor and the T8 can just *barely* deplete a full non-RES asteroid on average (35 fragments) in 31 seconds (2.66 medium lasers) with 2 seconds of distributor to spare before you start sputtering. That’s using 5 size 1’s and 1 size 2. With 4 size 1’s you’re a bit slower but won’t run into capacitor issues for larger rocks and can even run charge enhanced instead of weapons focused. It’s still worse speed than a 3+ medium laser Python build (which the Python can support) but with large diminishing returns you’re only saving 4 seconds with 3 lasers, 10 with 4 (and the Python can’t support the 4 so I need to double check if it finishes with 4 before sputtering). In exchange, more cargo space. This runs counter to some discussions that we’ re estimating without running numbers that the T8 would not be able to deplete an average non-RES asteroid inside of one capacitor duration and in a reasonably fast time. So, tl;dr, the T8 will sadly not even come close to the Python for multi-mining capabilities due to its lack of medium hard points. It looks like somebody at Lakon saw a Krait in the car park and said "Build that!" I currently have a Krait as a Deep Core miner but my main mining ship is a T10 so it'd be nice to have an all-Lakon mining fleet.
I was readying to go off on a long distance exploration run in my Diamondback but instead I'll be get the Stellar edition and kit it out for long range exploration. The extra space will come in handy.
4:07 Oh, very similar build to what I've been kicking around in coriolis... My build would have 1x7A multi instead of 3x5A collectors, so your 7+6 cargo turned into 3x6 for me; compared to your build I lose a single collector limpet but gained an empty 5-slot, which could be used for most likely additional 32 cargo space, maybe a higher class refinery for more bins for the multirole mining, or even a docking computer for when one just can't be arsed to do it. :P
I do like how the game is taking new design styles with the new 4 ships. They seem more complicated than the rather geometrical shapes we have been flying all this time. I am still using a PS4 (yes, I now have a lap top that can do gaming so hopefully, it can run Elite so I can finally join in all the gun I have been missing...to quickly die, of course). But I feel Elite is truly about to get the spotlight it deserves as the team have put in some serious work it seems. I love what I can play so far so getting to finally play Oddessy and now Ascendancy is going to be great!
While I agree T8 does not have the kit to do AX Combat, it might just barely have enough to do Titan storage pod rescue if it can run cool enough. Better space and maneuverability, and a decent hull. Hampered by only four utility mounts though.
I think I'm going to stick with my Laser Miner Cutter build for now. 7 mining lasers and 12 limpets. It can strip any rock before the distributor runs out and gets no where near overheating. I bought my carrier with credits earned mining Void Opals with an Anaconda when they were worth 1.6 mil apiece. Ahh, the good old days. I do have a Python mkII that's a dedicated Titan bomber that works incredibly well in solo mode. I have a tendency to buy and engineer ships for specific tasks then keep them in that configuration. I'm not sure what I'd do with a Type 8 but since I like to collect ships I'll find a niche job for it as well. As always a great video and keep up your awesome work.
kinda wish it had integrated L mining lasers in the arms with vacuum scoops for mining(pushing the top maneuvering thrusters to parallel with the bottoms)
Looking forward to give a rest to my python for trading, I also had a type 9 for that but it's so effin slow and I hate the blimp propeller sound of it. Can't wait for tomorrow, I'll be getting the standard one cause I will not need all the extra stuff in the stellar, I have the credits to A rate it. I'll be running this almost naked aside from cargo racks and a fuel scoop and I'll probably get a paint job with the extra arx saved with the standard version.

If this ship can operate cold, it could be an interesting biopod rescue ship. To operate safely in Titanspace, it would need to be able to operate with a low emissions powerplant. What size core internals does it have?
I'd love to pick up the type 8 in early access, but I just don't have enough ARX(about 6500 short) and probably won't have the option to spend for it for a bit. Plan to turn it into a Material gatherer/Miner as I can make both of those work with the same build. Also for mining, a 7A multi-limpet controller for 8 Collector Limpets and a 3A prospector controller makes short work of strip mining for sure.
I had to go get military supercapacitors yesterday and forgot about the rebalance... I swear there was over 50 of them floating around instead of the normal 3-5..... This makes things way too easy
I'll get a Type 8 in a few months for mining and cargo runs to settlements/outposts/anywhere without a Large landing pad. On the 7th I'm gonna buy and engineer a conbat Python Mk II
It is the only medium sized ship (so far) which has C7 internal slot, therefore the only medium sized ship which can equip an universal limpet controller. Very handy little ship. Its a shame that I need to wait 3 months still...
One possible design flaw would be, as the good folks over at Galnet News Digest pointed out, getting a Scarab SRV in and/or out of a Type 8 can rapidly devolve into something straight out of an Austin Powers movie. 😂 Edit: 6:12 Nevermind lol.
Excited to have the python mk2 to play around with. Type8 will probably replace my mining python. I still wish it had a bigger distributor and a couple medium hard points instead of all the smalls. That would make a pretty sweet ship. Should make for a pretty awesome ship (with all the cargo capactity) to do both rescue and supply/wounded runs for the war effort.
The only problem I have with with ship is the front "arms" block cockpit view too much. Annoying for anything but mining. Maybe one day I'll get one and it might change my mind?
Type 8 sounds perfect as a medium range scouting vehicle and Tritium finder/miner for my Fleet Carrier that can also do planetary exploration. I will definitely get one. As for thy Python MK2. I've bought one, tested it in multiple roles ... and sold it again. There is nothing that another ship can not do better. WAY better. o7 Commanders ! Ps.: I will definitely not spend a single one of my ARX on it.
I've never built a trader ship until Type-8..is fuel scoop and/or guardian FSD booster necessary for a build like this..? I feel like I'm taking up precious cargo space but I've only got 25+ Ly jump range without the booster..is that adequate for trading? Thanks 😁

Yep I've been flying it non-stop. I like everything about it. Fast, nimble, good jump range, nice cockpit view, looks great on foot, etc, etc, etc.

I’ll definitely be getting a T-8, mainly for mining. I like the Lakon ships and pilot a T-10 99% of the time. Looking forward to it but not sure if I’ll get it early or wait until November. I’m currently offline and have been for 2.5 months so can’t wait to get back into space again.

T8 look great in vr . Lots of attention to detail . ( nor seen it mentioned, but have you noticed the 4 main thruster clusters on the back move to better vector thrust, especially if you climb or dive )
What it does best is make the T7 look even worse. Before the T8, the T7 was shorter in length, width, and mass than medium ships, but couldn't use a medium pad. Best reasoning was that it couldn't fit the bay because it was taller than any medium ship (but not by much). The T8 is larger than the T7 in all ways (length, width, height, and mass) and can use medium pads. So there was never an actual reason why a T7 couldn't have used a medium pad.

so i brought the type 8 with some left over ARC X that i had after purchasing the pre build package of the pythron mk2 and havent really touched it or used it yet but i figured it would be good at mining and hauling just a matter of finding the time to get it set up for either of those. good review
I’m so hyped. There’s something about a ship with the two extended parts of a hull and being maneuverable that just looks cool.
As far as your mining fit goes, with 7/6/6/6/5/5/4/2/1 you would be better served by using the Class 7 slot for the 7A Universal Limpet Controller, all the 6s for Cargo, 5A Shield, 1I DSS; that leaves you 5/4/2 to fit your choice of extra cargo, limpets and a refinery (or potentially a Fuel Scoop). Whichever way you set things up, it's going to come out with some combination of more cargo, more limpets or more refinery buckets than your suggested version, simply by allocating that big 7 slot to the Universal Limpet Controller.
I used the 4 for a prospector and a 5 each for a prospector and a 5C biweave shield. I like at least 2 prospector limpets but there's no option for size 3 controller, so 5 it is.

I haven't seen the changed material mission rewards from station missions yet; still getting 2-5 of grade 4s and 5s. There's some _different_ materials that were being offered before, but no change in quantities yet that I've seen. Maybe I just misunderstood the changes.
I was secretly thinking this ship would make an amazing mining platform. This video pretty much cements that theory. Now I'm really wanting to get my hotas setup going again and try grinding for this beast unless I do what I don't want to necessarily do which is buy it with Arx.
The python is an amazing mining platform. This ship can't actually match it. I don't really understand why people are so excited to mine in this.
@Byssbod My guess is it's just something different. I'm honestly not familiar myself with the Python since I never managed to get that far into the grind before my hotas issues started up and made me stop playing.

OK, you've convinced me. The long arms were off-putting, but sounds like it's not much of an issue for visibility. Actually, darn it - I just released a Core Mining tutorial a couple of days ago. I should have waited to try the T8 as one of the builds. Ah well. Will definitely give it a go now.

For what it’s worth, when you buy an early access ship with ARX you ALSO get the ability to buy it with credits. It sounds like you plan to buy the early access one, so you can get the miner hull you want with credits at the same time (from any station that sells it)

High speed freighter you say?
Already bought one (basic version). Nice jump range out of the box, medium pad, agile and looks great :) I bought it for hauling.
Looking forward to playing around with the Type-8 tomorrow! I don't have any holes in my fleet's capabilities so I'm not sure how I'll configure it, but it's a damn attractive ship!
It doesn't have the cargo capacity of my mining Type-9, but it would be a lot more fun to mine with, and better able to avoid pirates either in the rings or on the way to a sell location. Or I may use it to scavenge Titan wreckage.

At this point i'll pay them for the ship as thank's for the engineering changes.
At first I was rolling my eyes at the type 8, thinking it would just be another freighter, but with the dirty drag drives that looks like it'd be a great time to mine with.
It also looks to be a good passenger ship for group economy rescue missions where a medium ship would be helpful.
I already have two Stellar PM2's, and I plan on having a pair of Stellar T8's tomorrow afternoon. My middle commander is waiting to see if the Stellar PM2 stays available after early access ends. If so, I'll eventually own three of each.
Picked up the Python MkII but haven’t decided on what I want to do with it yet. Will definitely be picking up the Type 8 at early access and will be giving exploration without a vehicle hangar seeing as there is an issue with extracting the srv. About mining, I planned to make a post about this yesterday on Reddit but didn’t get a chance.
tl;dr, the T8 will sadly not even come close to the Python for multi-mining capabilities due to its lack of medium hard points. It will likely have ammo problems in core mining if you try to fill it up fully. BUT, with pre-engineered mining lasers and a G5 WF SC 4A PD for 5 size 1’s + 1 size 2, or G5CESC for 4 size 1’s, the type 8 CAN deplete asteroids at a rate not too far off from a Python whilst hauling more cargo.
Your setup with 3 size 1 standard mining lasers will consume 4.5MW to deplete an asteroid at the same rate as a *single* size 2 mining laser would. Which with a class A prospector means around a minute and 23 seconds to deplete one asteroid on average. This is with a distributor that maxes out at ~5 MW recharge rate (I’m forgetting the exact number right now) with G5 WF or CE SC 4a distributor.
A Python with two size two mining lasers and the same set of seismic, abrasion, and subsurface launchers, will consume 6 MW firing those two lasers against its power distributor which can support that even without engineering (and with engineering could run 3) forced. And will deplete an average asteroid in half the time at 41 seconds or so, whilst carrying over half the same cargo capacity as the T8 with a shield (mining python can have around 192 cargo)
The T8 is not winning any favours in the multi role department sadly, which is a pretty big bummer for me since that’s what I love doing best.
For core mining specifically the T8 likely will run out of seismic charge ammo before it could fill up its hull with just one available launcher. Requiring ammo synths. That depends a lot on how much cargo you configured, though basically you have to go above 192 to “beat” the Python.
*Full* laser mining though and we start getting some interesting results. So far the small amount of discussion I was seeing was basically writing off the T8 completely due to its pathetic lack of medium hard points and undersized power distributor. It just won’t be an efficient mining ship in its class. However, I ran the numbers and using the *pre-engineered* size 1 mining lasers and a G5 weapons focused SC 4A power distributor and the T8 can just *barely* deplete a full non-RES asteroid on average (35 fragments) in 31 seconds (2.66 medium lasers) with 2 seconds of distributor to spare before you start sputtering. That’s using 5 size 1’s and 1 size 2. With 4 size 1’s you’re a bit slower but won’t run into capacitor issues for larger rocks and can even run charge enhanced instead of weapons focused.
It’s still worse speed than a 3+ medium laser Python build (which the Python can support) but with large diminishing returns you’re only saving 4 seconds with 3 lasers, 10 with 4 (and the Python can’t support the 4 so I need to double check if it finishes with 4 before sputtering). In exchange, more cargo space.
This runs counter to some discussions that we’
re estimating without running numbers that the T8 would not be able to deplete an average non-RES asteroid inside of one capacitor duration and in a reasonably fast time.

I currently have a Krait as a Deep Core miner but my main mining ship is a T10 so it'd be nice to have an all-Lakon mining fleet.
I wonder what will be the next ship. I'm hoping for some nice ship for exploration, maybe a large one (I don't like Anaconda or Cutter)

I was readying to go off on a long distance exploration run in my Diamondback but instead I'll be get the Stellar edition and kit it out for long range exploration. The extra space will come in handy.

4:07 Oh, very similar build to what I've been kicking around in coriolis... My build would have 1x7A multi instead of 3x5A collectors, so your 7+6 cargo turned into 3x6 for me; compared to your build I lose a single collector limpet but gained an empty 5-slot, which could be used for most likely additional 32 cargo space, maybe a higher class refinery for more bins for the multirole mining, or even a docking computer for when one just can't be arsed to do it. :P
I do like how the game is taking new design styles with the new 4 ships. They seem more complicated than the rather geometrical shapes we have been flying all this time. I am still using a PS4 (yes, I now have a lap top that can do gaming so hopefully, it can run Elite so I can finally join in all the gun I have been missing...to quickly die, of course). But I feel Elite is truly about to get the spotlight it deserves as the team have put in some serious work it seems. I love what I can play so far so getting to finally play Oddessy and now Ascendancy is going to be great!
While I agree T8 does not have the kit to do AX Combat, it might just barely have enough to do Titan storage pod rescue if it can run cool enough. Better space and maneuverability, and a decent hull. Hampered by only four utility mounts though.
I think I'm going to stick with my Laser Miner Cutter build for now. 7 mining lasers and 12 limpets. It can strip any rock before the distributor runs out and gets no where near overheating. I bought my carrier with credits earned mining Void Opals with an Anaconda when they were worth 1.6 mil apiece. Ahh, the good old days. I do have a Python mkII that's a dedicated Titan bomber that works incredibly well in solo mode. I have a tendency to buy and engineer ships for specific tasks then keep them in that configuration. I'm not sure what I'd do with a Type 8 but since I like to collect ships I'll find a niche job for it as well. As always a great video and keep up your awesome work.
kinda wish it had integrated L mining lasers in the arms with vacuum scoops for mining(pushing the top maneuvering thrusters to parallel with the bottoms)
Looking forward to give a rest to my python for trading, I also had a type 9 for that but it's so effin slow and I hate the blimp propeller sound of it. Can't wait for tomorrow, I'll be getting the standard one cause I will not need all the extra stuff in the stellar, I have the credits to A rate it. I'll be running this almost naked aside from cargo racks and a fuel scoop and I'll probably get a paint job with the extra arx saved with the standard version.

If this ship can operate cold, it could be an interesting biopod rescue ship. To operate safely in Titanspace, it would need to be able to operate with a low emissions powerplant. What size core internals does it have?
I'd love to pick up the type 8 in early access, but I just don't have enough ARX(about 6500 short) and probably won't have the option to spend for it for a bit. Plan to turn it into a Material gatherer/Miner as I can make both of those work with the same build. Also for mining, a 7A multi-limpet controller for 8 Collector Limpets and a 3A prospector controller makes short work of strip mining for sure.
I had to go get military supercapacitors yesterday and forgot about the rebalance... I swear there was over 50 of them floating around instead of the normal 3-5..... This makes things way too easy
I'll get a Type 8 in a few months for mining and cargo runs to settlements/outposts/anywhere without a Large landing pad.
On the 7th I'm gonna buy and engineer a conbat Python Mk II

It is the only medium sized ship (so far) which has C7 internal slot, therefore the only medium sized ship which can equip an universal limpet controller.
Very handy little ship. Its a shame that I need to wait 3 months still...
One possible design flaw would be, as the good folks over at Galnet News Digest pointed out, getting a Scarab SRV in and/or out of a Type 8 can rapidly devolve into something straight out of an Austin Powers movie. 😂

Excited to have the python mk2 to play around with. Type8 will probably replace my mining python. I still wish it had a bigger distributor and a couple medium hard points instead of all the smalls. That would make a pretty sweet ship. Should make for a pretty awesome ship (with all the cargo capactity) to do both rescue and supply/wounded runs for the war effort.
The only problem I have with with ship is the front "arms" block cockpit view too much. Annoying for anything but mining. Maybe one day I'll get one and it might change my mind?

Type 8 sounds perfect as a medium range scouting vehicle and Tritium finder/miner for my Fleet Carrier that can also do planetary exploration. I will definitely get one.
As for thy Python MK2. I've bought one, tested it in multiple roles ... and sold it again. There is nothing that another ship can not do better. WAY better.
