+lenard ggor It happens regardless of how severe things are too, and it's worldwide. In Canada, a girl pulled out in front of me and my car was pretty wrecked, airbags and all, radiator fluid everywhere, steam, bodywork crushed into the wheel etc. People were still honking at us even though the vehicles were clearly disabled.
and ur driving on the RIGHT side of the road im guessing xdlol?! hilarious but at least i dont have to fly across my country to get to the other side. but at least i can say aluminium (not aluminum) - srsly wtf but at least my measurement system isnt fucking retarded. but at least my school wont get shot up. too far... but i don't care...(chap) get it? because I'm british and i speak like a poshy. american hill billies seem to find that funny, i presume you are just the same
I'm from the U.S. so excuse for my ignorance, but I feel that the markings on the road are extremely confusing. Yet, after reading the comments, I do agree that the car driver is completely at fault.
After I replayed the video I could see the car tried to change direction. But that was my first thought, the markings are confusing as hell and look overcomplicated. I'm sure it's nothing for them but still.
+DemocracyOfHypocrisy the writing is pretty much telling you where the lane you're in leads you on to. and the arrows say if you take a left exit, go straight on or turn left, once you're used to them they're really simple. the lane the rider was in allows left turns and straight on, the one the driver was in is left turn only and the driver tried to go straight, the driver is 100% at blame
Jack Burton Makes sense. As an American, it just took a couple times replaying it to understand what happened since I've never encountered something like this.
+Jack Burton One of the things that looks confusing to me is on the roundabout there were white dotted lines crossing each other. Don't see that here. And the zig zagging lines on the two lane road. In the US, a divided road will have a yellow double or solid line in the middle telling you that's oncoming traffic. When there is no yellow line you can generally ride in both lanes. Strange to see nothing but white on the road.
as a biker I'd say this one could have been avoided, just assume everyone's an idiot and everybody is trying to kill you. people choose the wrong Lane people change their mind at the last minute people do the unexpected. hope you and your bike live to ride another day.
Well you said "as a biker", I assume you go out and ride your bike. So you are not really assuming everyone's an idiot and everybody is trying to kill you. If you do assume that, you won't go out of your house.
lol 3 years ago im only seeing this now, cant agree more btw, could have been avoided, it wasnt but it could have been. so much can happen in 2 seconds, so much can be avoided if anticipated
I dont ride. But the most important rule I've ever learned about the road is that you should never assume that anyone else is paying attention or knows what's going on.
You are a Smart Moto guy. I have the EXACT same mentality, same philosophy.... thats why I dont crash, impact cars, etc.... That's why I am still alive, after almost 40 years of Fast Moto.
The car changed his course. It is the cars fault. At first glance you may think it's the bikers fault but it isn't. The biker could have helped himself by staying at the same flow rate as the nearby traffic, and only accelerate when you know your exit is fully clear.
***** No it's not the bikes fault, but he could have taken that junction a lot better. It takes experience to judge a potential hazard. The biker made the situation worse by accelerating when he did.
+RevvedUpBiker So how much experience do you think you need to be able to anticipate the poor decision that the cager made then, I've been riding since the 80's...
Tim Mason People do stupid things. I never go much faster than the moving traffic on a roundabout simply because people don't always indicate right and then suddenly change their mind and just cut straight across. It shouldn't take that much experience, you just need common sense. The rider could have reduced his risk.
+Chase Pendleton It was the motorcyclist fault. 1) The outside line does not have to exit the round about 2) If you want to exit the round about you should be on the outside lane and not cut across from the inside.
+dangeroushobo Car was at fault. The lane he was in does have to exit and clearly changes direction at the last minute, sudden movement of the car. Take a look at the road markings, both lanes lead to the A52 meaning the left lane cannot keep going around as it would cut off the right lane, the lane the biker is in.. Left lane should only go 1st or 2nd exit.. all other exits you must be in the right hand lane...
Not all roundabout markings tail off to each exit, in fact most don't, you are supposed to know when safe to exit, and the motorcycle had every right to. There are 2 lanes on the adjoining road so both outside and middle lanes may both join, just watch the three cars in front of the bike, they all join just fine. The car is at fault.
+Pan da You can't understand because you refuse to know. there were TWO exit lanes. if you're in the left lane, you MUST turn off. If you're on the right, you can turn off OR continue around. prntscr.com/9oeznk
" I don't care what country you are from. If you can't understand why the driver is at fault you probably shouldn't drive yourself." Saying the biker shouldn't be driving when he did NOTHING wrong.
Yup that's what I thought, a simple case of lost in translation or interpretation. And here you got all up in arms when we are arguing the same point. Case closed.
All the non-UK people and clueless people that don't know how roundabouts work.. especially this one in particular... The car was 100% at fault, no doubts about it.. Left lane should only go 1st or 2nd exit.. all other exits you must be in the right hand lane...
@George Duffy Did you watch the video with your eyes closed? Lol The lane the car was in MUST take the exit, yet tried to keep going around. The lane the bike was in could either take the exit or keep going around.
1:43 - No matter how you cut it, that was a straight-up rookie move on the part of the motorcyclist. If you don't assume everyone in a car is a moron, these totally-avoidable crashes will happen over and over and over again. I'm sure this experience will make him a better rider. Every rider has busted a rookie movie at some point in heir riding career. At least this one was a low-speed rookie move.
He's joining a 60 - 70 mph A road, are you under the impression that doing this at 30 mph is somhow safer? Ontop of this he is going the exact same same speed as 6 or 7 cars infront of him, again if you are under the impression that going slower then everyone else when joining an A road in the fast lane you are pretty nuts.
The car HAS to turn into the roundabout if he is in the left lane the person in the right lane can choose EITHER. If you don't know British roads, don't comment.
How about.. the car driver is at fault for being a wanker and cutting off the bike when he should have been getting off the roundabout, not changing his mind halfway and nearly killing someone.
As a rider I have to say the bike was at fault.First, it is clear that the car was in the lane first. Yes, no signal and a late turn but still was there first.Second it's clear the bike was following the trajectory of the red car in front of it, which was to go from the far right lane, across the lane where the collision occurred and off to the left. With the car in the lane first and the bike accelerating (incorrectly assuming the car was staying left), the bike was at fault.
Are you fucking stupid he's in the left lane which it to take the exit the second lane (the lane the motorbike is in) is to go left it straight so the car is at fault. If you own a car please resist your test theory and practical...
You gave yourself no reaction time at all - I'm not saying you were the one to blame for the accident, but you really should have kept your speed down until you had a clearway, not accelerate off a roundabout when others were still on it, that's just asking for bother and broken bones - again, not saying it was your fault, it wasn't, it was the car driver to blame - but your bones aren't protected by a metal box unlike the car driver so it's up to you to ride as though your life depends on it - cause it does !!
+Marko Totally right mate.... he pulled away from his house like a looney, far too fast and the same when he overtook the line of traffic. Bloke must have a death wish. Gives safe defensive riders a bad name. SLOW DOWN numpty!
The MC driver changes lanes right as he crashes. How is it possible to NOT be his fault? Did he make sure the lane was clear? No. And yes, those traffic controls are ridiculous.
First of all, I'm not from the UK, but we have a lot of roundabouts with multiple lanes here, too. So when I went to the UK for vacation I thought I'd be fine taking them as I would here. This thought changed abruptly when I enterd the first roundabout.... I figured I'd stick to my lane and be alright, but it wasn't that easy. Eventually I looked it up, watched videos etc. to find out how they work. I got it now and can say the car was in the wrong, but in most other countries he wouldn't have been in the wrong.
it shows exactly how ignorant and arrogant some drivers from today are! He is so stupid, i mean, it was clearly his fault...even if it wasn't you can ask if you can help with the bike or something...or just a simply "how are you? Do you need an ambulance?"
Respect to the car driver for keeping calm in front of 3 idiots (bike driver, crazy shouting crying woman coming out from nowhere, and other lady who wants to testify?). Car driver did not break any rules at all as he is following his lane. Biker should hand over his licence for poor driving skills, apart from being unable to recognize his mistake by running into a car. You do not deserve such a bike, go and get a tricycle
+Valerio Malenchini obviously you do not know how to look at details. he was in a exiting lane. decided he didnt want to follow that lane at the last moment and swerved into the lane next to him.
+Valerio Malenchini ohh I get it... You just don't like bikers so you come to videos like this to call out the biker and accuse them even when it's clearly not them at fault... Please leave, don't breed, and please turn in YOUR license, assuming you've got one.
i am actually an irresponsible biker who should destroy his own driver licence for the way how he acts in the public roads, however trust me this is the worst mistake i have ever seen - all due by the driver lack of skills. Right or wrong he could have easily avoided, trust me.
My strategy when driving is to assume that anything that could possibly happen - will happen sooner or later. Other drivers running the red light, unexpected sudden lane changes, pedestrians/bikers/kids/animals jumping out of nowhere... I'm driving all around the EU for almost 15 years and had 5+ major accidents avoided, 50+ minor accidents avoided and still 0 actually happened because I was alert and ready. People say to me that I'm lucky, but no, it has nothing to do with luck. Extrteme caution is what saves you.
The road markings in the video are very faded which is why I think everyone is saying he cut across 2 lanes. here's the roundabout where the crash happened goo.gl/maps/D4XTtGj7L3L2. It shows clearly that the biker did the correct thing along with the red mini that was in front of him. ride and drive safe people :)
I saw that clearly the bike hit the car by trying to speed up to cut through traffic. Poor timing and judgement cause biker to crashed into the car. The car still be able to make that turn if he want too. He can tell the police that the biker crashed into him while he try to turn
It seems they both neglected safety. The motorcyclist wasn’t driving defensively or staying steady with traffic (I would never cut off into a busy lane so fast) and the car dangerously veered off into the other lane without warning.
Unfortunately there is only so much you can prepare for and when exiting something like a roundabout you usually do a safety check however that check is looking almost behind you, can't see 360 degree 100% of the time.
Not his fault at all u took an illegal lane switch to go to an exit. bikes r treated like cars on the road. And if u were in a car u wouldn't have been trying to do the and probably would totalled one or both cars. That red car in front of u is kinda being wreckles as the lanes ur in r a 1 way street and both lanes u can go straight but only the left lane is for the exit. Although I'm from Canada so I don't know for sure but logically if ur looking at this it doesn't make sense for u to wanna just intercept through a lane for an exit. Doesn't make sense to me
No he didn't, his lane went onto the exit so what are you talking about? if you are still confused look at the like 6 cars in front in his lane that also take the exit to join the main road, now the car driver however did make an illegal lane split. Again, look at all the cars in front of him (and read the markings on the road while your at it), what are you talking about?... I have to assume your from a country that doesn't do roundabouts. Nope, both lanes are for the exit... it's to a main road and is why more or less all the vehicles involved are going that way, the left lane MUST take the exit, the right lane can EITHER take the exit or carry on around the roundabout.
It was not target fixation, you cannot pin point every biker mistake with target fixation , he was to fast to avoid and stop the bike safe, that was a roundabout not a freaking straight road
I LOVE this woman's reaction! I felt better from the start. Even the pain was gone. I wanna say to all those "LMAO"s etc: you do not even know what is EMPATHY, poor you!
if you're in the lane of the silver Passat, you cannot follow the road right, you must take the left exit in that lane. that's the highway code in the UK. obviously the guy was not uk born and either didn't know that, or made a mistake and tried to go right anyway.
Those who blamed the biker, do you even know how round about works? The driver is on his left lane and he shouldn't changed his lane when he is CLEARLY should exit the round about! Can't believe people blamed it on the biker!
MrRoxz you can't exactly leave the round about from the 1 st lane either. Learn more about roundabouts mate. The bike was in the wrong, if you want to exit you can't just skip trough the second lane you have to reposition
Did you fail to notice the other cars doing it too? Not just the biker. You can't cross from the inside line to not exit the round about. You're in the inside to exit while the outside is used as a option to exit or to not. Car fucked up.
Loxas22 I know the round about, both lanes are straight on, the car cut from outside lane across inside lane, totally his fault. if you dont believe me look at the flow of traffic ahead of the rider
look at the lane markings on the floor. Left lane:exit. Right lane: Exit or stay. Easy to understand. The biker didn't skip thought the second lane, he IS in the second lane which leads to the second lane at the exit. That's how this roundabout work.
No dude....you plowed into him. From far right lane straight into the car....you're suppose to go to middle then left lane then into the road (both a rider and driver here (10 years experience))
+walkin dude No. If the car was following his lane, then he MUST turn off. if you go to 1:42, to the left of the video, there is a fading dashed line, that is _esentially_ the line he must follow if he wants to turn off, otherwise, continue around the roundabout. Besides, the lane turns off into 2 lanes, which means 2 lanes joins it.
+Displaced Jonesable so the only ones who can continue around the roundabout are the ones on the inside right lane, and the left lane must exit? a little confusing especially with the faded lines. edit* watching again, why doesn't the inside lane have to follow their dashed lines? if the silver car had continued around the roundabout would he have prevented the red mini from exiting? i guess i just feel weird about cutting from the inside lane to the exit across what seems like two lanes.
Mhmm Left lane shouldn't usually continue around the roundabout. Left lane is usually Left (Sometimes Left and/or Straight) only. Right lanes are usually Straight and or Right only.
Guy on the bike was totaly in the wrong as he crossed over a lane and into traffic that was already in that lane. Shows a lack of experience when you ride, speeeed, stop, speeeed, stop, speeeed, stop. What amazes me is that he could see the car right there as he accelerated into the side of it.
Glad you are ok bud. He was trying to say it wasn't his fault like they always do, but when you say it is on camera they start trying to come up with excuses then. I hope all went well and that you are still riding.
Lol that biker literally drove right into the side of that guys car... Whats stopping you from waiting a second instead of just ASSUMING he's turning? Even if he was meant to turn, you should never just assume because you'll cause an accident
The driver is in the far left lane meaning he HAS to turn left, you cant keep going around the roundabout in that lane so ofcourse you are going to assume hes going left because by law you have to if you are in that lane. clearly the cars fault
ArcticCatsRock He's not an idiot. On the right lane, he can either go left or go straight. On the left lane, where the car was at, vehicles need to turn left. If you were saw a car at a turning lane, you *will* assume that the driver will turn because they're on that lane. Same goes for the biker here. He assumed that she was gonna turn because she's, by law, required to turn on that lane.
I've never been to the UK and i know for a fact that the driver was in the wrong. The lane markings are very clear, the driver changed lanes when he was clearly in the exit lane, he continued around the roundabout when he was supposed to exit, as clearly marked by paint on the goddamn ground, not so hard to understand.
The car driver was obviously in the wrong for the lane discipline, observation & signalling. But at the same time we should always try to ride with a bigger margin than that at roundabouts and junctions. Totally avoidable - no need to be closing the gap like that at an exit, even if it is reasonable to expect the car in front to stay in lane. I've had similar accidents and I think it is important for us riders to realise that whilst in an ideal world car drivers will notice us, the truth is that modern cars have huge blind spots (thick pillars for cabin safety) and bikes are small, quick & in unpredictable road positions & not all car drivers are attentive. It frightens me how much faith some riders put in car drivers to act predictably or to have seen/considered them. Ultimately we are responsible for our own safety and must always expect the worst from other road users if we expect to remain safe. I'm not having a go at the rider - I think most riders with any miles have had an off like this one. But also have to be real, blaming car drivers for their mistakes doesn't make us any safer and we can all be a bit safer on the road, usually just a little bit more patience and space is all we need. Thankfully it looks like a hot bath and a trip to the garage should sort it all out. Take care out there guys.
+Jack Wheatley Read their comment again. He agrees that the car driver is wrong, as will anyone with half a brain that can read road markings and by applying a bit of common sense. Who's right and wrong is meaningless if it's fatal. Just because it's not your fault doesn't mean it wasn't avoidable. I'd rather have 1 accident that was my fault than 5 that weren't...
+Owen Wales It seems I had replied to the wrong comment. I actually agree with what he's saying. It's the drivers fault but the biker could have handled the situation better and avoided the colision. I really want to learn to ride but watching videos like this is making me change my mind. Sometimes accidents can't be avoided and riders come off much worse.
Jack Wheatley Being on two wheels is the most amazing experience, it's such an awesome stress relief and the sense of freedom and 'being alive' is something you'll struggle to find elsewhere. I've done about 15-17,000 miles without incident ( touch wood) and enjoyed every minute of it. Keep on the side of caution, trust no one and keep within your abilities and you'll be fine :)
Owen Wales Thanks :) I've never experienced riding and at least want to give it ago. My Dad used to ride when I was a kid so I've always been keen. It's just some drivers can do the most idiotic things and it scares me. I'm nearly 19 so could get an A2 licence. Or I might wait a few years and get the A licence. Not sure yet
The driver "may have" been at fault, but @1:39 you could have just merged on the left lane (since your intention was to go left eventually), and avoid this whole situation. You had plenty of room. Sorry but really bad decision on your part. Drive defensively.
Come on mate, I'e no idea where you were going either. Cutting across 2 lanes, no shoulder checking and a good bit of acceleration in slow moving traffic, no anticipation. Bit of tit for tat here. Glad you weren't hurt.
Are you blind? Look at the road markings, they clearly guide this lane off've the roundabout, much in the same way the cars ahead of him proceeded. Car is totally at fault. No indication and cutting across from inside lane.
Cyclingbikingtrucker car is at fault of course. Although biker could have avoided the collision by going more slowly and anticipating the car's movement. It was perfectly clear the car was not planning on turning left from early on.
+Cyclingbikingtrucker Both are equally at fault in my opinion. Car is at fault for changing his mind and coming back into the lane, motorcycle is at fault for cutting across two lanes. If you want to turn left off a round-about you need to be in the left most lane. This is the same if you're turning turn normally, you need to be in the left most lane. The motorcyclist was in the right lane, and cut across the left lane to turn left. Both at fault.
technically the car was at fault but you can't rely on people doing the right thing. some defensive driving techniques would have avoided the situation. but hindsight is a great thing.
Wow, just from this video alone I'd say people from the UK are seriously butthurt LOL. "Don't comment if you don't live here blah blah blah" What difference does it make? We all can see how the rules of the road work, even if they are a bit different country to country. The car driver should've stayed in the left lane, but the biker could've easily avoided that also. Besides, it looks like he went down before he touched the car. Simply inexperienced. Any driver who knows what to do would've swerved right by them.
Im so glad that the other motorist came running and yelled at the guy driving the car. I hope he learns from this mistake, it could have been MUCH worse.
02:20 its so typical girls, i dont get it. Whats the point of getting a blody panic attack for no friking reson, when you are not even involved. The guy was walking around and said he was ok, but she is crying and starts screaming at the guy in the car.
That woman must have either known some one who’s been in motorbike accident and it’s terrified her or she is generally scared of motorcyclists and accidents. She was so concerned the poor soul. Kinda sweet really
I had the same exact thing happen to me in a roundabout in Brooklyn. Drivers are always switching out at the last second. They are looking out for everything but motorcycle or bicycles. It's to the point that in a lot of areas, they put plastic barriers to block idiots from doing that.
Looks to me it was just an unfortunate mistake from both of you. The car and rider were both changing lanes at the same time. To bad this happend. Hope your ok and still riding. Accidents happen. Ride save, enjoy live.
I don't know, I'm not from the UK, but it seems obvious that the lane the car was in was NOT for going right. Here in the U.S. it would be like turning right from the left lane perhaps.
I've got my license, I'm a US driver, and I can say with absolute certainty that the fault is entirely on the driver of the car. You just have to think of everything in a flipped manner in this circumstance, where the car may be on the right side taking a right exit. They did not exit, but the person in one lane over (who is allowed to go straight) continued down their course, resulting in a collision. The person driving the car is at fault, there is simply no discussion.
Great job being professional and not just swearing out the driver. You also remained calm which may be hard to do but is a must when handling situations like this.
+TheDudeAr At 1:40, notice both lanes have "A52 (W) M1" painted on them. At 1:46 you can see the painted lines following the road exiting the roundabout, indicating where the hell to go. Left lane was exit only, right lane (where biker was in) was exit AND continue on the roundabout. It's not rocket science, it's following a white line.
why wouldn't it be? the left lane is required to turn left, the right lane has no traffic to content with if its going off at the exit, so iftraffic is joining a duel carrigway like it is here was is it so confusing that both lanes may exit but on the right may carry on around the roundabout?..
Hard lucky but glad you are not seriously hurt! I use that roundabout regularly and its a amazing how impatient people are when traffic queues for that Stapleford exit (where the VW seemed to intended to go). Amazing how people just wander about without even looking at least.
The bike was taking the inside(middle) lane to the exit, which is perfectly legal because the main rule of a round-a-bout which disallows you to continue through the circle from the third outside(exit only) lane. The car had already departed onto the third(exit) lane and changed his mind mid way and pulled back across lane 2 without indicating to get back into the circle pushing the bike out of his rightful place. If the rule wasn't broken by the driver of the car, traffic would have flowed seamlessly.
The most obvious indication of the lanes is the HUGE queue of cars in the same lane as the bike heading for the same exit from the roundabout. Lovely lady who stops to act as a witness.
Biker's fault. Well, not technically, but he is the one who ate shit, could have broke his back etc, while the degenerate in the car was all good. Driving too aggressively through a roundabout, not paying attention, and worst of all thinking traffic laws are material things that can protect him. Hopefully it was a lesson for him though.
Czech here asking, in UK you have to be in the right lane to continue on the roundabout? If you drive in the left lane you have to exit in the nearest exit? Do i understand it correctly? And I hope you and your bike are ok :)
There are two lanes. The car was on the outside of the roundabout. The motorcyclist was on the inside of the roundabout. The were both exiting until the driver of the car decided he didn't want to exit and turned into the motorcyclist.
+Crispin Bacon Maybe I'm an idiot, but I don't get it. What sense would it be for someone on the *inside* of the roundabout exit? I'm looking at the road markings and it seems to me that the people on the inside have to stay *in* the roundabout before moving out on their exit. But what do I know?
+LazyScoutJace I think in england lane splitting is legal for motorcycles so it makes sense that he was using the inside lane, plus the outside lane is for exiting the roundabout so the car is in the wrong.
+Martin Broski I dunno, I still don't see it. Lane-splitting or not, when I look at the road markings, it looks to me as the outside lane has a choice in exiting or going straight. It also looks to me that the person in the inside lane must stay and continue through the roundabout. We have roundabouts here and lane-splitting here California too. As a motorcyclist myself, I would not even consider exiting from the inside lane *UNLESS* there is clear signage that it is a protected lane that must exit. But perhaps you guys are right. When I see the red car and several ahead exiting from the footage, maybe it's legal - though I don't get it.
i am not from the uk and i can plainly see that the driver of the car was in the wrong. i live in minnesota and we have alot of roundabouts. none of the old people know how to use them and i have almost been hit many times
Speed limit isn't too fast you Mong, the car driver isn't allowed to merge out of his lane when he is just about to exit the round about, I suggest you either read up about the laws of the road or just stay off the road, you're part of the problem that the whole world sadly suffers from, horrible drivers.
You must be taking the royal piss, or just have no clue about how roundabouts work, what happens if you slam on the breaks on a motorbike and the speed limit haha, if you drive the speed limit you are not going too fast....
Roundabouts are indeed very confusing and dangerous.Have a few roundabouts here in Singapore and I have seen drivers who don't seem to know where they are want to turn off and which lane they suppose to follow.Glad that the traffic wasn't fast moving else it might be a worse crash than this.
hi i live not far from the crash site with a cbt and can tell the car driver is in the wrong watching youtube makes me wonder how most car drivers are still on the road
Wrong at 1.25 he is in lane marks A52W, M1W, "W=West the other lane clearly marked A52E, M1E, "E=East". Both vehicles are in the west marked lane & cross to exit BOTH lanes that you say are for the exit. Both Mini & Bike are in the outside lane and should have gone around again if they missed the East exit.
Before commenting the biker was in the wrong just look at the lane markings, he was in the lane marked for A52 M1 (@ 1:40) , look at the sign on the road about (pause just before crash ~ 1:47) and you'll see it says A52 M1, so he is definitely in the correct lane, and also I use this roundabout every day and do the exact same thing, its called bardills roundabout, check it out on google maps
+Zeno Guy that had nothing to do with it you muppet, the car SHOULD have turned off then none of this would've happened and the biker was obeying the speed limit, I have been put in the same situation before...
+Drunk On Perks There must be better drivers around where you ride. Here, you can't go a 1/2 mile without someone doing something wrong. Never depend on the other guy to do what he's supposed to do.
I had to watch it a few times but I think I get it now. Correct me if I am wrong here. The car was in the far left lame which appeared to be a turn only lane. The biker went to switch lanes to turn when the car pulled out of the lane that he was already committed to. The lane he went changed into appears to be a turn or go straight lane. This is when the biker hit the car. The biker could have slowed down until his exit was clear, but the driver of the passenger car performed an illegal lane change. This looks like it may be the Uniter Kingdom. The roads are throwing me off a bit.
It is the united Kingdom, the biker never changed lanes, the left lane (the car lane) is to take the exit only the lane the biker is in can take the exit or carry on around the roundabout becoming to the new left lane... Though other then thinking the biker changed lanes and thinking he needed to wait for the way to be clear (because it already was) you aren't far off.
Hi man, would it be Ok with you if I use this video in my new compilation? I will credit you with a link in description and a watermark in the video. Thanks
They do say that most bike wrecks happen less than 5 mins away from home and under 40 miles per hour. Glad you're okay! I had my first spill recently. :( Thankfully my bike was ok.
all those people honking should experience the same situation
Stupid people. I dont understand that at all.
+lenard ggor yeah.. they are just bloody ignorant and impatient bastards.. dont worry karma incoming
+lenard ggor No, the blue car in front should have just kept driving
+Al Kaholic in it's own lane maybe or at least indicate??
+lenard ggor It happens regardless of how severe things are too, and it's worldwide. In Canada, a girl pulled out in front of me and my car was pretty wrecked, airbags and all, radiator fluid everywhere, steam, bodywork crushed into the wheel etc. People were still honking at us even though the vehicles were clearly disabled.
damn that crying woman loves you from some life, if not from this life then a previous one lol.
Lmao she was hysterical!!!
Was that his GF?Wife? Shoulda got her number
that is his wife. At 2:26 she says "My Husband"
I missed that, good catch!
lol
I know what happened, you guys are all driving on the wrong side of the road.
lmao
and ur driving on the RIGHT side of the road im guessing xdlol?! hilarious
but at least i dont have to fly across my country to get to the other side.
but at least i can say aluminium (not aluminum) - srsly wtf
but at least my measurement system isnt fucking retarded.
but at least my school wont get shot up.
too far... but i don't care...(chap)
get it? because I'm british and i speak like a poshy. american hill billies seem to find that funny, i presume you are just the same
Xx Purple_Fire xX calm down I think he meant this as a joke.
+Xx Purple_Fire xX He was joking 😂😂😂
You've got it all wrong, you yanks drive on the wrong side of the road.
Jack Burton
Makes sense. As an American, it just took a couple times replaying it to understand what happened since I've never encountered something like this.
+EpicOwnage1212 yeah I can see how it'd confuse, definitely the car at fault though
+Jack Burton
One of the things that looks confusing to me is on the roundabout there were white dotted lines crossing each other.
Roadbiker stop being such a fucking smartass, you know what he means. Also this post was over a year ago why are you even saying anything?
lol 3 years ago im only seeing this now, cant agree more btw, could have been avoided, it wasnt but it could have been. so much can happen in 2 seconds, so much can be avoided if anticipated
Car is at fault from what I saw he didn't even signal either
The Muscle Biker but he could have stopped anytime but he’d kept going
That girl crying was pretty sweet actually lol I'd just have given her a hug if I were the rider
haha. i agree. that was kinda cute how she was worried about him.
ye i'd hit that ass too man
+Jonas Schaaf bruh
+Jonas Schaaf M8
It looks like she was worse for wear than him.
The car changed his course. It is the cars fault. At first glance you may think it's the bikers fault but it isn't. The biker could have helped himself by staying at the same flow rate as the nearby traffic, and only accelerate when you know your exit is fully clear.
*****
No it's not the bikes fault, but he could have taken that junction a lot better. It takes experience to judge a potential hazard. The biker made the situation worse by accelerating when he did.
+RevvedUpBiker obviously you need to take a second glance at his comment mate
+RevvedUpBiker So how much experience do you think you need to be able to anticipate the poor decision that the cager made then, I've been riding since the 80's...
Tim Mason
People do stupid things. I never go much faster than the moving traffic on a roundabout simply because people don't always indicate right and then suddenly change their mind and just cut straight across. It shouldn't take that much experience, you just need common sense. The rider could have reduced his risk.
+RevvedUpBiker Unfortunately, there's no such thing as common sense anymore. Or very little of it these days.
Who the hell is the woman? Lmao
Probably his gf, they seem familiar to each other
+Jason Bullock he says carrol, so might be his GF or wife
+Francisco Mpma LOL no this women is just a bystander who was really startled
+S. Wilson Really?
LOL
Even though I'm from the US and I'm 15 and don't drive, it was clearly the car drivers fault. The lane markers are there for a reason.
Same
+Chase Pendleton yeah!
I don't care what country you are from. If you can't understand why the driver is at fault you probably shouldn't drive yourself.
+Pan da You can't understand because you refuse to know.
there were TWO exit lanes.
if you're in the left lane, you MUST turn off.
If you're on the right, you can turn off OR continue around.
prntscr.com/9oeznk
Displaced Jonesable yeah I understand just fine. not sure why you are confused by my comment.
" I don't care what country you are from. If you can't understand why the driver is at fault you probably shouldn't drive yourself."
Saying the biker shouldn't be driving when he did NOTHING wrong.
Yup that's what I thought, a simple case of lost in translation or interpretation. And here you got all up in arms when we are arguing the same point. Case closed.
+Displaced Jonesable he says DRIVER not BIKER he means the car..
All the non-UK people and clueless people that don't know how roundabouts work.. especially this one in particular...
The car was 100% at fault, no doubts about it.. Left lane should only go 1st or 2nd exit.. all other exits you must be in the right hand lane...
Roundabouts are the same as yours in Canada but yea driver is 100% at fault was at the turning lane
David B ikr
@George Duffy Did you watch the video with your eyes closed? Lol
The lane the car was in MUST take the exit, yet tried to keep going around. The lane the bike was in could either take the exit or keep going around.
lol that woman came running from nowhere ...looked like she needed a hug lol
1:43 - No matter how you cut it, that was a straight-up rookie move on the part of the motorcyclist.
If you don't assume everyone in a car is a moron, these totally-avoidable crashes will happen over and over and over again.
I'm sure this experience will make him a better rider. Every rider has busted a rookie movie at some point in heir riding career. At least this one was a low-speed rookie move.
I take it a step further and just assume everyone regardless of what they're driving are a moron.
Biker was taking off to fast, it could have been prevented if biker was more cautious , slower and anticipate 4 wheeler possible exit changes
The guy in the car wasn't allowed to merge out if his lane. Biker did absolutely nothing wrong.
+Chet Anderson Found the moron
He was speeding but not his fault perfect example of why not to speed. You may know what you are doing but other people might not!
+Marko Totally right mate.... he pulled away from his house like a looney, far too fast and the same when he overtook the line of traffic. Bloke must have a death wish. Gives safe defensive riders a bad name. SLOW DOWN numpty!
just because your m/c can go fast is not a reason to do so.
The MC driver changes lanes right as he crashes. How is it possible to NOT be his fault? Did he make sure the lane was clear? No. And yes, those traffic controls are ridiculous.
The accident was completely avoidable. If you were paying attention you could have easily veered to the right. Did you want a new bike?
First of all, I'm not from the UK, but we have a lot of roundabouts with multiple lanes here, too. So when I went to the UK for vacation I thought I'd be fine taking them as I would here. This thought changed abruptly when I enterd the first roundabout.... I figured I'd stick to my lane and be alright, but it wasn't that easy. Eventually I looked it up, watched videos etc. to find out how they work. I got it now and can say the car was in the wrong, but in most other countries he wouldn't have been in the wrong.
I like how the car driver didn't offer to help lift the bike or asked if he was alright:/
it shows exactly how ignorant and arrogant some drivers from today are! He is so stupid, i mean, it was clearly his fault...even if it wasn't you can ask if you can help with the bike or something...or just a simply "how are you? Do you need an ambulance?"
those are some good hearted people
we need more of em
+Valerio Malenchini just look the Harry Sandars comment. Please don´t drive again...
Lets pretend that the driver changed his mind making a mistake, the biker could have avoided all this by using a tricycle.
Hey mate, do you mind if I feature your vid in my new compilation? Credited - watermark and link to your channel. ~MS
The motorcyclist wasn’t driving defensively or staying steady with traffic (I would never cut off into a busy lane so fast) and the car dangerously veered off into the other lane without warning.
the bike didn't cut off into a busy lane :S he stayed in one lane the whole time and was keeping up with traffic in front of him...
Delogros I just think for their safety it’s important for cyclists to be extra cautious around many cars, because it can be hard to see them.
Target fixation....ample time to see that and plenty room to manoeuvre, hell the worst that would happen is doing the roundabout a 2nd time .
I guess you were dropped as a kid.
+Ryan savage
+Ryan no he was shaken
It was not target fixation, you cannot pin point every biker mistake with target fixation , he was to fast to avoid and stop the bike safe, that was a roundabout not a freaking straight road
Agreed.
IF YOU WANNA GO LEFT.. STAY ON THE LEFT LANE.. NOT FROM RIGHT TO LEFT AT THE END OF THE FUCKING PATH.. you should learn more nigga
look at the lane markings on the floor. Left lane:exit. Right lane: Exit or stay. Easy to understand. The biker didn't skip thought the second lane, he IS in the second lane which leads to the second lane at the exit. That's how this roundabout work.
No dude....you plowed into him. From far right lane straight into the car....you're suppose to go to middle then left lane then into the road (both a rider and driver here (10 years experience))
how do you drive straight into a car barely moving, dang thing was almost stationary for gods sake
That's exactly the issue. It's a rounabout not a parking lot.
seems like they both were cutting across at the same time.
+Displaced Jonesable
so the only ones who can continue around the roundabout are the ones on the inside right lane, and the left lane must exit? a little confusing especially with the faded lines.
edit* watching again, why doesn't the inside lane have to follow their dashed lines? if the silver car had continued around the roundabout would he have prevented the red mini from exiting? i guess i just feel weird about cutting from the inside lane to the exit across what seems like two lanes.
Mhmm
Left lane shouldn't usually continue around the roundabout.
Left lane is usually Left (Sometimes Left and/or Straight) only.
Right lanes are usually Straight and or Right only.
I think you shoulda predicted his mistake, you sped right into him instead
+Jerkster i think that this is the stupidest thing ive ever read.
What you just said is more stupid and simply impossible.
+ Jerksterhow is that impossible? it is not.
That poor girl made my day with how much she cared about a stranger
That women is his wife
Lol that biker literally drove right into the side of that guys car... Whats stopping you from waiting a second instead of just ASSUMING he's turning? Even if he was meant to turn, you should never just assume because you'll cause an accident
The driver is in the far left lane meaning he HAS to turn left, you cant keep going around the roundabout in that lane so ofcourse you are going to assume hes going left because by law you have to if you are in that lane. clearly the cars fault
+matt worley yeah I know, here in Canada the rules are different but I'm just saying he should've waited a second before just ramming the guys car
You don't stop on the road for even a second to see which way a vehicle would go when you've got cars behind you.
+senorseb I didn't say stop, just don't drive like and idiot like this biker is
ArcticCatsRock He's not an idiot.
+Jack Wheatley You'll have to wait until you're 24 unless you hold an A2 for 2 years. You don't need loads of power to have fun though!
The driver "may have" been at fault, but @1:39 you could have just merged on the left lane (since your intention was to go left eventually), and avoid this whole situation. You had plenty of room. Sorry but really bad decision on your part. Drive defensively.
At this time the rider lacks defensive driving, leave no chance for others driving erros and makes crash inevitable.
That's true he was going a little fast
true
agreed, ride like you're invisible
Agreed
Fuck off defensive riding, the guy wasn't allowed to turn into the bikers lane at that point,
Hey man may I include this in a compilation? It'll be credited and linked back to your channel
ERiCDrAyViN It's easy to say how people should react when watching a video about a crash. Bit harder in real life when you're not expecting it.
__TidePods__ are you allowed to do it without checking your mirrors/shoulder checking and indicating (with your hand in biker's case)?
i love the random woman that shows up crying and tells the honking drivers to "piss off"
This guy was back on his feet in 0.5 seconds!! 😆👏
Congrats on 800 subs and nice bike
technically the car was at fault but you can't rely on people doing the right thing. some defensive driving techniques would have avoided the situation. but hindsight is a great thing.
Hey mate may I use this clip in my next moto video? Credited of course (watermark and link to your channel).
The guy was walking around and said he was ok, but she is crying and starts screaming at the guy in the car.
pissed me off
+PdubsPvp Exactly!!
+Moto_Nerd It's his wife shitstick...
SuprA 44 mayun I'm gonna come over der and whoop yo ayus!
+Moto_Nerd this is called EMPATHY! :P
That woman must have either known some one who’s been in motorbike accident and it’s terrified her or she is generally scared of motorcyclists and accidents. She was so concerned the poor soul. Kinda sweet really
*crash*
toward roll army style into standing position.
that my friend, is badass
I had the same exact thing happen to me in a roundabout in Brooklyn. Drivers are always switching out at the last second. They are looking out for everything but motorcycle or bicycles. It's to the point that in a lot of areas, they put plastic barriers to block idiots from doing that.
Looks to me it was just an unfortunate mistake from both of you. The car and rider were both changing lanes at the same time. To bad this happend. Hope your ok and still riding. Accidents happen. Ride save, enjoy live.
only the car was changing lane. biker was following his lane and had a choice off the roundabout and follow the roundabout. rules in UK
+YaBoyBillson Yeah. The car driver was going to go across 2 lanes and it looked like he didn't have his signal on
Dude that lady was more upset than anybody in the video. Poor lady. Heart of gold
Great job being professional and not just swearing out the driver. You also remained calm which may be hard to do but is a must when handling situations like this.
Car driver: "what did I do?" LMAO. Then doesn't even help pick up the mess he caused.
That woman must've lost someone to a motorcycle accident cause she was really upset over some random stranger getting in one.
Trenton Pottruff that’s his wife... 😑
1:50
That "what the fuck" pose is pretty relatable
So in the UK, A left turn is legal from the right most lane? Sounds like a load of bull.
Amazing how people just wander about without even looking at least.
no wonder you crashed, you're driving on the wrong side of the road ;)
Ayy. UK sides are opposite.
+Star aster Gameplay ... (*psst* it's just a joke dude)
If the rule wasn't broken by the driver of the car, traffic would have flowed seamlessly.
squeaking woman really helped there.
Kelbeluk78 Oh I fully agree the car driver was certainly at fault. I was just tickled by your squeaking.
So was everyone!!! :-)
Glad you're not badly hurt. Nice of the lady to show so much concern.
id say 50/50, rider should have anticipated
The most obvious indication of the lanes is the HUGE queue of cars in the same lane as the bike heading for the same exit from the roundabout. Lovely lady who stops to act as a witness.
That made me smile when that woman came up crying
Blows my mind how people can pass their test but not know how to use a roundabout
Yep that's correct
I don't live there, but to me it looks like he did nothing wrong.
There are two lanes. The car was on the outside of the roundabout. The motorcyclist was on the inside of the roundabout. The were both exiting until the driver of the car decided he didn't want to exit and turned into the motorcyclist.
+Crispin Bacon Actually there may be one lane there, but the motorcyclist was riding beside the car.
Biker was going way too fast, did not allow any margin of error. His fault, clearly.
Speed limit isn't too fast you Mong, the car driver isn't allowed to merge out of his lane when he is just about to exit the round about, I suggest you either read up about the laws of the road or just stay off the road, you're part of the problem that the whole world sadly suffers from, horrible drivers.
+Ryan I like that name Mong I think you just helped me name my turtle MONG
You must be taking the royal piss, or just have no clue about how roundabouts work, what happens if you slam on the breaks on a motorbike and the speed limit haha, if you drive the speed limit you are not going too fast....
Uh,....... no.
Nicolas, please never get your licence.
Respect to the lady that came running to help you
the motorcycles in the wrong here
By... Doing nothing illegal at all?... :S how?
Roundabouts are indeed very confusing and dangerous.Have a few roundabouts here in Singapore and I have seen drivers who don't seem to know where they are want to turn off and which lane they suppose to follow.Glad that the traffic wasn't fast moving else it might be a worse crash than this.
Judging from the reaction of his wife, I assume he was never allowed to ride a bike again lol
He still rides
My dad always told me "ride like every car is trying to kill you"
Omg the Woman hahahaha
hi i live not far from the crash site with a cbt and can tell the car driver is in the wrong watching youtube makes me wonder how most car drivers are still on the road
a semi decent rider would have avoided that
Blacks have the right away in all situations.
It is biker fault.
+wujobak No.
Wrong at 1.25 he is in lane marks A52W, M1W, "W=West the other lane clearly marked A52E, M1E, "E=East".
Both vehicles are in the west marked lane & cross to exit BOTH lanes that you say are for the exit. Both Mini & Bike are in the outside lane and should have gone around again if they missed the East exit.
im 14 years old and I can clearly see the black guy was in the wrong
Before commenting the biker was in the wrong just look at the lane markings, he was in the lane marked for A52 M1 (@ 1:40) , look at the sign on the road about (pause just before crash ~ 1:47) and you'll see it says A52 M1, so he is definitely in the correct lane, and also I use this roundabout every day and do the exact same thing, its called bardills roundabout, check it out on google maps
the woman crying broke my heart, I wish someone cared about me this much, heck I wish someone cared at all
Bike was driving way to aggressively for those traffic conditions.
No...
Are you completly drunk? The bike was riding slower than the speed limit allowed and I can't see any "aggressive" riding as well.
@@Delogros ok. So the car flat out just ran into him. That is just grand! Lol.
Hi man, would it be Ok with you if I use this video in my new compilation? I will credit you with a link in description and a watermark in the video. Thanks
I've had the exact same thing happen on that island so many times. All the A52 Islands suck. Glad you didn't come off any worse.
They do say that most bike wrecks happen less than 5 mins away from home and under 40 miles per hour. Glad you're okay! I had my first spill recently. :( Thankfully my bike was ok.
Is the left lane a turn only lane? Or was the car allowed to go straight?
Bless that girl defending the motorbike rider and being upset, hope he got done
