Mai, despite grieving the loss of your marriage, I've noticed that you have done some things for yourself, hair done and makeup (your lashes and liner are on point!!) which are very therapuetic. Getting ready for the day in a cute outfit, (even workout gear), styling our hair and putting on even a little makeup improves our mood. You look really good in those hats, by the way! I work in family law. I am actually going to criminal law next month because I can’t take the toxicity anymore. It is heartbreaking to see children used as pawns. You are doing the right thing putting them first. I know it’s not easy. It will get easier with the passage of time. You and your ex should be commended. Let me tell you, I have seen people spend years and thousands of dollars being petty.

LOL…. The woman who has done most of my family’s photos INSISTS on making sure there are photos each session of kids with the parents individually. I totally get it and actually appreciate it for many reasons. I don’t think my husband and I will ever split, but hell….. I thought that with the first one! 🤣
Co-parenting is hard! So the fact you always bring it back to the kids is awesome 👏 I had the kids full time for over 6 years because my X wouldn’t keep his word. Then when my son turned 13 he wanted to go live with his dad. I let him go because he is old enough to come home whenever he wants. It’s been good, my daughter still doesn’t spend much time with him but this is not due to me. I have always been open, shared invites & kept him in the loop. I miss my boy but he is happy, so I’m happy. I re-married & having my 5th baby making a total of 3 siblings for my 2 older kids from my first marriage. There is no ‘step kid’ we are just a big family & love each other. I’m 6 years down the track & I did not see my life being this. I planned on being a happy single mum then I met my buddy, my handsome, kind, loving now husband. I have been happier in the last 5 years than I have in the last 12 years. Not because I need a man but because I met my human. I think you know you are doing life as best you can & that is all that matters. Not these comments ❤
I'm 32, and my parents got finally a divorce this year. My mom kept staying in that relationship "for the kids", and left me having panic attacks. My heart can not thank you enough for your maturity and for thinking about your kids first. Keep it going, I know sometimes we depend on our men taking care of the tech in the house, but it's really not that hard!

I totally feel for you and hate that you have to go through this at all. My parents were in the category of "stayed together for the kids". It was hard to watch them together growing up. I think that while things may be hard now, I'm sure it was the right decision for you AND your boys. On another note, you look great! Your hair looks great and even though you mention it's hard to find motivation when your boys aren't around, it looks as though you're taking care of yourself and enrolled in therapy to get you through. Even if it's with all of us that can't talk back, except in the comments! Keep going; you're doing great!😉
It was the "RIGHT," Decisions...to break up a family in front of impressionable children? I mean she even said it herself that both her and her exhusband are very close with him apparently showing up in 2 minutes from her phone call. This is really just a case of putting herself first over her family.
My parents tried patching up things about 10 years ago and bought the house we now live in, which was the worst decision ever! They finally divorced almost 4 years ago. Them getting a divorce was the best thing that happened to our family, they both now have new partners and are happy and I have the best relationship ever with my mom. It was a little harder for my brother since he was 11 when this first happened and his ADHD made things a bit more complicated, but eventually, he understood. I am 9 years older than him and I was actually the one to tell them to get a divorce because I was sick of the arguments and yelling. It took them 10 years to admit I was right but now we are all happier.
I see it as being vulnerable and real, and you are so sweet to really put your bs with your ex aside and be the best co-parent for your boys!
Thank you for not comparing it to a spouse dying. Your babies still have their dad, and that’s such a blessing. I love that you don’t ever throw yourself a pity party. You admit when things are challenging, but are ready & willing to tackle it with positivity. You’re a great example of resilience for your sons.

i think the modern internet allows most people to be more honest about their life and it's obstacles and supportive of others going through the same. Wish this had been the environment that was available when I was going through my divorce with my small kids.

I have to share. I went through a very difficult divorce five years ago and went through trauma counseling during and after. I am happily remarried now, but I will share something my trauma therapist shared with me that has truly stuck with me through the entire ordeal. "It is much better for your children to come from a broken home than to live in one." It's taken five years, but my ex and I are now in a good place to co-parent very well and our children are thriving because of it.
It's been five years since my mom and stepdad split, and everyone's happier with healthy relationships with me.
