My mom donated her old wedding dress to have turned into little dresses for babies that passed away, so they can be buried in something beautiful 🥺 It’s a heart wrenching charity but I think a very special one, if you want to look into something like that! It’s called The Angel Gown Program 👼 edit: She also had a little piece of the leftover scrap turned into an ornament so she still has a piece of it with her too, even though she’s been divorced from my dad for nearly 20 years lol, it's still a cute sentiment
I rewatch all your videos over and over again. Among the various things I enjoy are your voice, personality, thought process, that you are relatable, your positive vibes, humor, the way you very skillfully edit the videos and the music you use. Keep going! I think a lot of viewers of your declutter series are interested in the pros and cons that you have noticed and experienced after decluttering so far.
I love that you are doing this based upon what you need/want. So many people stop decluttering when there is enough space for storage, and only worry about what fits in the room.
The paintings and wall art you can hang up on the studs. It will keep them safe and away from traffic and you can still enjoy them when you go into the attic
Clear storage containers are the way to go. After watching you declutter, I need to go thru my stuff too. Who doesn't have stuff? You did a great job, Mai!
Great job on the attic project. Your husband must be so happy when he sees each project done. My poor hubby gets roped into doing many of them with me. If you don't keep the whole wedding dress, maybe keep pieces in case your boys have sentimental fiances someday who want part of your dress in theirs. Enjoyed the video.
The ski boots section was pretty funny. You always bring a smile to my face. The Rich Dad book is in full audio for free on youtube. I listened to it everyday on my way to work. I would buy a book from you!
Oh for your wedding dress, there are places that you can donate it to and they make dresses and outfits for babies that don't make it home. Or, you can see about making it into a tree skirt for your Christmas tree Or throw pillows for your bed.
As a mom who had a daughter who didn’t make it home, I am eternally grateful for the dress that was donated. My baby looked absolutely beautiful in the dress that was made by volunteers from donated wedding dresses. 💕💕💕
@@jennifertull5158 Thank you. I am truly sorry for your loss as well. My twins were born at 23 weeks and my eldest twin passed at 5 days old. My survivor is 13 years old now. It is a pain that you learn to live with but never get over.
Strengths Finder is amazing just for the quiz access that usually comes with the book purchase! Finding out my Top 5 strengths helped me learn more about myself when I was in the workplace and returning to those results has helped me understand my daily flow now that I’m a stay at home mom. Highly recommend taking the quiz and then just reading the little blurbs on each of your strengths!
Holy moly Mai! lol your real estate journey is to the tea mine. same age, passed test first try, felt so excited then reality checked. it was awful! lol glad were past that time in our lives! lesson learned, no shame!
There are companies (one in Florida is Angel Gowns) that take wedding dresses and make little gowns for babies who have passed away. My dil’s dresses were donated. It felt wonderful (since we lost twin girls at six months pregnancy) to help other parents get gowns for very sad times.
Your wedding dress could be donated to organizations to make blessing gowns for babies in NICU, also you could have small pillows or ring bearer pillows made for your boys when they marry. Also, a little purse if yall are going to have a girl or stripes of lace for a wedding bouquet. Something they could us for their wedding day-
Hi Mai. EXCELLENT video as always. LOVE that this project is behind you now. This was SO satisfying. I find your videos SO inspiring. Love and hugs. God bless.
I love how real you are! OMG the CDs - I got rid of a big folder of burned CDs like these, mine were all scratched and sticky from partying in my early 20s lol. I bet you could get a cheap CD player from the FB marketplace! Or even a discman hahaha. My next project is decluttering sentimental items too - I've been procrastinating on it for so long! I'm planning on buying some stackable tupperware containers and keeping one each for my hubby, me, and my one (so far) kid and try to fill one each. PS we also have no family nearby, RIP fun weekends away without bebe!
My sister went to Dave’s bridal store where they sell wedding dresses and they also cleaned, treated, pressed and preserved her wedding dress and now she has it in a cute box that doesn’t take a lot of space but you can still see the wedding dress in the box. You can search up if you have any bridal store in your area that can preserve your gown.
My mom bought a CD player at Walmart last Christmas after she inherited my grandma's christmas cd collection for like $35; It also does radio and bluetooth so it's both a throwback and a modern gadget
Awesome job. Love your content. My daughter wore my wedding dress in her high school play “Father of the Bride” It was so fun seeing her in it. You can try and donate to a local high school or theatre group.
I love your idea of surprising your husband by wearing your wedding dress on your anniversary then you can donate it to the organization that makes dresses for babies who don't make it home. Someone commented their Mom saved a scrap for an ornament as well. Both beautiful ideas! Our office closet is loaded with crap and I have more crap in my linen closet but we first need to declutter the store room in our basement and I'm sure everything important will fit down there..the rest has to go! Loved these videos and thanks for the inspiration. XXOO ❤️
I totally need to do the memorabilia declutter with you. My mother recently passed away and she was just as bad or worse in terms of saving every little thing we ever touched. And there were 4 of us kids! 😱. Now that she’s passed we’re all having to go through them!
I look forward to your videos every Tuesday! Baby and I watch it in the morning together! For me, I would keep the wedding dress because of how sentimental it is to me. But of course, do what works for you!
14:50 did I hallucinated or is this really the fourth book of Harry Potter in FRENCH? At first, I didn't even notice it because I'm so used to see it, but after the realization sink in, I gasp! It's always such fun seeing books in French in English speaking people's home!!
Get the dress cleaned, wear it for your anniversary, then sell it. Use the money you get from the sale of the dress to get something fun, or save it to go on a ski trip.
You did good always tell people that's the reason I don't like storing stuff in the attic or getting a storage unit because we always get rid of about 90% of the stuff when we go back through it.... good job
Ahh so jealous of your attic space! I can only crawl in mine haha and I donated my wedding dress a year after I got married. I forget the exact name of the company, but they turn the dresses into mini dresses for babies that sadly pass. It's a way to help support the parents during that heartache.
It would depend on what the style of your dress is and how fancy it is, but my friend dyed her wedding dress her favorite color and cut the frilly part off the bottom so she can now wear it for evenings out or special occasions
Omg 😂 I also burned the Hilary Duff Metamorphosis CD off Limewire. I need to go find my sleeves full of CDs. I have all the original boyband cds an I need those back in my life! I just need to declutter my basement. It's a beast of a job I'm dreading, but we are finishing our basement in the next year and 75% of it needs to go!
Oh wow I can get use of the book Rich Dad Poor Dad. I heard about it but never have a chance to read. I love the way you decluttered and I’m been trying and I love it. Thank you for the motivation.
Its our 10 year this year and I want to have a wedding party where I wear my dress (also never cleaned haha) and invite all my guests to wear their dress or some kind of wedding attire!
In the video when you found your wedding shoes and trim from your dress you were set on having already sold it. I think you should sell it for find a place that takes dresses for low income women and not just give it to goodwill :) thanks for the inspo
old wedding dresses can be transformed into father christmas, angels or teddy bears if you wanted to keep it in your home...or do a "trash the dress" photo shoot...or even donate to someplace in your area that provides those that cannot afford a beautiful dress for their special day or prom....just a few ideas.
Yep that resusable bag material (like on the mattress) AND soft plastics like bubble wrap etc DISSOLVE like genuinely it even sticks to your skin like glitter so gross. so when ive gone through boxes ive worn masks cause its so fine that you like inhale it and ive vacuumed it and wiped it all and transferred all the bubble wrap stuff to like hard brown butchers paper (which you get usually in online orders or like fruit stores to protect soft fruit etc) or newspapers or old pillowcases (or just buy fabric cheaply second hand) and wrapped breakables like that instead of plastic. And just chucked out all the bubble wrap so i wont have to come back in a few years time and clean it all up. Never buying bubble wrap or soft plastic storage again either. I got heavy duty food grade thick like industrial plastic tubs for storage since cardboard isnt long term storage either and then popped stuff over and made sure it was stored properly and organised and not just shoved in boxes. Honestly its insane that they even sell bubble wrap and reusable bags when they just dissolve into sticky powder like that when their purpose is to last as well. Like its not like theyre eco friendly eithet so notmal plastic bags wouldve been more eco friendly.
Lol see I'm such a packrat I have my old boom box, it made it through my attic declutter haha. But I can play my old CDs 😀. Also you can have your dress cleaned and preserved, I'm sure they can still get quite a bit out even if it was never cleaned. I was paranoid to put mine in the mail I found a local.place that did it and it's sort of displayed in a special, very secure display box.
In regards to your wedding dress, if you are interested in donating it, there are charities that make burial outfits for babies from donated wedding dresses. I am not sure on charity names; my niece did it with her wedding dress.
have your dress cleaned and make a hanky for each one of your son's future brides and that would be a keepsake for them and also something old on their wedding day
I had my wedding dresses cleaned and nicely displayed in a preservation box back in 2014, and NO ONE would take it as a donation. Apparently the cut off is 2-5 years for most places. Really disappointing because it’s a lovely dress that deserves to be worn again lol
I laughed at the “psycho mom” comment. I have large tubs for both of our boys. From birth through college….I gave pix, report cards, papers, etc. I can hear my boys say the same thing about me. Lol
I mailed my wedding dress to a place that displays dresses in a cardboard box with a clear front so you can see it. My neighbor just did it with hers. It’s about $150.
Oh man, we may have the same mom. 😂 I think I have one of my diapers too. And a glass bottle I think. I didn't declutter my burned cd's either, and when you listen to them.... Oh all the feelings. 😳Lol
I get the biggest kick out of seeing your hornets memorabilia-- I went to school in that district for most of my school career (I was several years behind you) so it's kind of fun to see the stuff you're finding. You should just wear your ski jacket next time you visit MN in the winter.
If you have a charity that sells second hand wedding dresses with proceeds going to that charity (we have a place in Toronto, Ontario that sells dresses for breast cancer research and treatment) it would be so amazing for your dress to not only help a bride but also other people who might benefit from that charity!
Hey! Maybe you should put that unused rug down on the floor in the attic.

That burned cd collection sparks immense joy!!!! 🤩

the binder of CDs is such a mood. i remember doing that growing up
The paintings and wall art you can hang up on the studs. It will keep them safe and away from traffic and you can still enjoy them when you go into the attic
You could put the big tv box from the garage into the attic now with all that space! You mentioned wanting to move it. Great video!
Clear storage containers are the way to go. After watching you declutter, I need to go thru my stuff too. Who doesn't have stuff? You did a great job, Mai!
Keep your wedding dress!!!! I loved seeing my mother-in-laws dress before I married her son. It was a nice bonding memory.
