Wait! The picture of you in your wedding dress might be something that sparks joy for your boys or hubby! I wish I had a picture of my Mom in her wedding dress.
Came to say the same thing! A few of the best of just you is so precious
Girl, I threw my yearbooks away a few years ago. No regrets 😂 I literally don’t talk to any one from those days (now 20 years) so it was a literal weight lifted
If it's not too late (you haven't discarded it yet), you may want to consider asking your husband if he would like to keep the portrait of you on your wedding day. I totally get you saying that you would never hang a photo of only you, but YOU aren't the only one who has special memories of your wedding and he may want to hang it in your bedroom. You did an amazing job!
Re: yearbooks...I'm 73 and visiting with HS friends, one of whom is dying of cancer. We've gone through all of my yearbooks, grades 7 - 12 together and enjoyed every memory. My advice is to keep them. You really don't know how precious they may be.
I totally agree, I have a photo of me and my nan the only one that was ever took of the 2 of us, she passed away a few years later when I was still a child, I had a friend who took my phone and took a pic of me and my baby sister, I don't know why (I have autism) and well I was at the point didn't like my photo being took, she passed away a short while later and til the day I die I will always regret deleting that photo as it was the only one of me and my baby sister together, I have photo's that my mum was going to throw away that I wanted to keep
For anyone who struggles with getting rid of photos even though you don't feel like you need them (not talking about the photos that are truly important to you). I highly recommend getting an autofeed scanner and scanning the photos so you can share with family members and you have a digital copy do getting rid of hard copies becomes easier. (I also have been using a duplicate detector to be able to scan everything and then just delete the duplicate scans without having to personally pinpoint duplicates).
Not gonna lie, your declutter videos get me so excited & inspired to look through my own stuff...maybe tomorrow... 😆
Haha glad they help you!! 💕💕💕
Agree... maybe tomorrow. But loving the videos
Mai, this was my favorite video of yours so far. I laughed with you (at your dark poem) and cried with you (about your loved ones who have passed since your wedding) 💗 Thank you for being so open and relatable. 🤣😭❤️
What about the vase over head "bringing water home" lol
Good job on this sentimental declutter! I got rid of all my yearbooks and report cards, no regrets. I mainly saved photos, now I just need to organize them and display as needed. I really need to start making photo books for the past 2 years to document motherhood, for sure. I'm kind of sad that you are done with decluttering, I loved your decluttering series so much!
Thank you! I've been waiting for this video for a long time!:) I recently sorted through my memories, they fit in a box for me. :D I picked out the photos I really like and put them in a box in the living room so we can look at them at any time. :) My grandfather made a lot of blankets for me that I have kept so far (I am 34 years old, my grandfather died 7 years ago) deep down in the closet, unnecessarily, but we never threw them out. Then came the Ukraine war (I live in Hungary, we are neighboring countries). One morning, I suddenly grabbed the blankets and gave them to the refugee children at the train station. I knew right away that I didn’t need these, so I managed to get rid of the emotional burden and help others with it. My grandfather, who fought in World War II, would definitely want that. At least, I hope so. 😊
I'm so happy for you! The feeling of a clean easy home is unmatched, but I will miss this series, it was my favorite ☺️
I am in process of scanning all my family memories to a hard drive and making notes about photos as I go. Going through them, having notes on them is really important because without the context they don't mean much to anyone else. Love the way you grouped everything!
I have watched all your Extreme declutter series in the last 2 or 3 days and in the past 3 days i have decluttered my clothing and my room and also cleaned it, clean laundry room by washing all the clothing and decluttering in the way, decluttering my 14, 8 and 9 year old brothers clothing, "forced" my mom to declutter her closet and wardrobes (not actually forced her but kind of insisted to do it since it was getting very out of hand to the point were clean clothing was ending up on the floor because of the limited amount of space to put away the clothing and therefore having to rewash it over and over again), and lastly cleaned her room today.
The class NOTES! That will be something in our memory boxes that our kids will never have 😂 I did keep all of mine because my friends and I were so dramatic about such silly stuff. I love remembering a time when I thought “ Jason wearing a bright green shirt!” was considered THE TEA of that day in school lollll
Wow! Sentimental is the hardest! You should be proud of yourself!
Yearbooks! I'm 57 and have moved many times, but the year books go with me! I probably only pull them out every decade or so but the memories and the laughs are absolutely priceless, when you do connect with that old friend from the past!
I would love to see a compilation of all the spaces before and after the kon-Mai method. I didn't realize this was the last episode until the end and now I am sad! Your decluttering videos were my favorite
Be proud of yourself Mai!!! You did so great!
I like your "old timey" photo pile. All of the women on my mom's side have passed so I have ALL of the memorabilia. I bought a shelf to organize it all. I think I'll make a greatest hits photo album haha.
This provides great insight, which is helpful when you don’t know what to do with your photographs, like me, so thank you.
Congratulations!!! This was a huge accomplishment!!! I love how you always just dig in and tackle everything!! Please keep the videos coming. You are such a fun, friendly, sweet person - thank you for motivating me every day!
This was awesome! Thanks for sharing all of your decluttering. I’ve been wanting to go through my memory boxes and you’ve motivated me to put it at the top of my to do list.
Good job Mai!!! 🎉🎉 Love watching every single declutter video and, GIRL, you kick ass!!
Thank you so much for sharing this! Often people show the process of decluttering their memorabilia, but not necessarily how they organize and store it, so thanks for going through that part of your process as well.
This is my favorite by far! Love seeing you go through everything & emaotions.
I started following about two years ago, and I remember the first declutter videos. I love them all and I find myself rewatching every now and again to get inspired!
I can’t believe we’ve come to the end of this journey! I’ve loved all the decluttering videos, it’s so satisfying to watch but also gives us a really good insight into your life and personality. Great job!
Excellent video!! I can decluttering almost everything except photos. I have lost so many loved ones..... I cannot even bring myself to open any photo albums. However, your tutorial has inspired me to make another attempt. THANK YOU!!
Mai, You should be proud of yourself!!! This was a particularly powerful declutter video for me!! I, like you, have decluttered everything and have tip toed through but mostly around the sentimental! Your video has inspired me to get back to it! Thank you! You are the best! LOVE you and your channel!
You did such a great job on sentimental stuff, Mai!
Congrats!
I’ve been lurking your journey and doing a little right along with you!! 😘💕 Proud of you!
You’re my fav!!! I always enjoy your videos ❤
👏👏👏 Well, done you! Long time lurker, first time commenter. Keep up the great work!!
I love these videos! I hate to see them end. So glad you have your house under control, though. Must be a calm feeling.
Long time watcher, first time commenter.......this was next level! Well done!
I just love watching your journey!
Please be careful with the "dehumidifier". It fills with water and if it spills, everything will get wet.
That was inspiring! Sentimental stuff is still my kryptonite, I really like how you organized your memories in little bundles.
That was a fantastic video, Mai! I threw away tons of photos, scrapbooks and yearbooks a year ago.....it was hard but needed. I feel your emotions. ❤️
I’m avoiding the photos!! 😭 I think those of us that grew up developing film had a hard time throwing out random or duplicates!
Yeah, I’ll be honest it was hard for me to do that!! But I knew it was the right thing for me to do :)
Literally came on youtube to find a video to help motivate me to declutter my sentimental items! Perfect timing! I haven't even watched it yet and I already know I am going to say THANK YOU Mai!
You've done so good! Absolutely be proud of yourself!
Amazing job! After watching this I went thru all of my photos!
One suggestion I came across at some point is to create a bin of keepsakes for yourself that’s labeled and made known to your family that when you pass they can just throw it away and not feel obligated to keep it or spend a lot of time going through it. Filled with things that are just purely meaningful to you, like middle school notebook covers, but won’t hold memories for your children. ❤️
It’s so great you finally reached this stage!
Great job!! You have inspired me so much! I have enjoyed all of your videos!
This was my favorite declutter of yours! So many special memories to follow along with. This gives me hope that I can part with things too…
Watching you go through your memorabilia is such a joy-- as a fellow former Hornet (few years behind you) I get such a kick out of seeing your old school goodies (especially since I got rid of my yearbooks-- snapped a photo of my favorite pages tho). Fabulous work being decisive about what sparks joy and letting go of the rest!
You should let your boys go thru the wedding photos and see if they want to keep any for their walls/memory books
This was so satisfying. i cannot wait till i can get this done in my space!!
This is a great video! For most of us, this is a difficult task. You accomplished this so well. I like how you explain everything. I would start making binders for each of your sons to include the preschool report card. Wow! You consolidated everything in one bin. That’s awesome. I’m sure you’re proud of your self.
Wow so proud of all the work you did!!
That was so fun to watch. It was interesting to hear your thought process on what to keep and what to let go. You did an amazing job! I also married my High School Sweetheart. We’ve been together for 58 years ( also from Minnesota). 🌺
Loved that series!
Can’t agree more with the starting to like the decluttering process!!!
This really turned out sooooooo Well Mai! Congrats on the Last Declutter! Can’t wait to see what you have instore for us next😜😜😜
This video sparked joy for me! I'm keeping it!
I loved this and all your other videos! ❤
The most hard to declutter. Love this Mai😁
I wished I'd caught this when it came out as I've been invested in your wonderful and fun journey to get through all your areas. Thank you so much for allowing us all to share in your epic journey - I've enjoyed every moment 😊
ps I do hope you fetch out one box or book of your memorabilia on slow cold wet days where everyone's in and cosy and allow your boys to share their mum's growing up - one of my memories as a child is dragging out the family photo albums and pouring through photos of my mum and dad during their childhood and courtship and before I came along - the whole concept of them being other than what they were to me as a child was endlessly fascinating and those photos still take me back sharply to that time of me being a little kid.
So enjoyable!! You did a great job!
Mai, you did an absolutely amazing job with all of your decluttering but this one tops the cake. I have throughly enjoyed watching this series! Sentimental is by far the hardest for me. I have gotten rid of some stuff but still can't part with a lot. I have all of my report cards too. I did however get rid of all of my yearbooks with the exception of my senior year. For those I got rid of I did rip out some pages to keep. You did amazing 👏 😍 ❤️ 💖 💕.
Wow, you did a great job! So neat and organized!
Excellent job. Memorabilia and photos are the hardest for me. I have lots of it because I’m not a good day clutter of these items. My whole house gets declutter regularly and is very organized but this area seems to be very hard. I have tried in the past and I get lost in the nostalgia of it all. Thank you for showing me your process. I’m almost twice your age so I better get started. I love your videos and your realness. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next decluttering video.
I loved watching your journey!! I am on my way also! I have a few more declutters to go but it feels amazing!
Truly enjoyed every video in this series, thank you. I’m glad that you were able to do it at your own pace. I think your family will enjoy what you have decided to keep. Digital picture frames are an option if you think it would help.
That was soooo satisfying.
Sentimental stuff is a hard one for me to declutter, like a lot of other people. We are currently in the process of getting new flooring throughout our home so I currently have stuff everywhere. It makes me realize how much more I could declutter!
I hear you about what sparks joy 😊
I have my yearbooks from high school and two from middle school (7th & 8th grade). I WISH I had my elementary ones, still...I have NO idea what happened to them. :( I will say though...as far as this whole thing goes...I did just go through my PHOTOS app on my mac (icloud/iphone/ipad, etc...) and went from just under 30,000 photos to 9,000!!!! It took a few weeks, a few hours each night...but I set up smart albums and went through them year by year and created albums for each life event. I love it! Now, I can add my photos I have on my external hard drives and really organize them! I will say...as far as the physical photos I still have, I do have the originals in one box and organized in manilla envelopes! It's very satisfying!
I am right there with you. Went through my hundreds of pics last summer and only kept a hand full. My children were blessed with a small photo album for themselves. 😁
I’ll never forget a teacher taking a note I was passing to my best friend during class. We had to beg her not to read it out loud, and to this day I can say it was for the best.
Love it! It looks amazing
👏🏼 Bravo, Mai! What an inspiration throughout this journey. I’ve got so much work to do (still) but I’m going to get through it. My kids are in their mid 40s and I don’t want to leave a house full of my stuff behind. Nor am I Swedish. 😯 Thank you Mai. 🤗👍🏼🏡
Great work!! I'm feeling inspired to look through my photos finally! I've been putting it off for years 😬
Amazing job! And I felt like we 🎓 graduated. I hope you do upkeep videos
Hi Mai. Very pretty color on you. AWESOME video. TYSM! God bless.
This was the video I needed to actually do my sentimental declutter!
Wow, you did a great job of decluttering your memorabilia!
So incredible to watch your journey! Congratulations on finishing off the last big chunk, it’s gotta feel like a weight off your shoulders 🤗
good job Mai!!
This is so good… I’m going to watch again… and maybe again! 😄
😆🥰
You make it look soooo easy. Wow. I think of going through old photo books, I would rather have room canal. The one thing I shredded was 20 years worth of journals.journal.
Old photo are incredibly difficult to get rid of. When photos involved 24 frame$ roll of film, a drugs$ore and waiting 2 week$ to see the result$, I was invested. Today is is all on computer with instant gratification and a delete button.
A+ work Mai 👍
This video was so helpful!!
Hell yeah to the HALLOWEEN BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!!!!!
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Nicely done!
Great job! Fun video to watch! I put my digital photos on USB drives and leave the USB drives in my sentimental box.
FYI. I think that closet dehumidifier is the kind that draws the water out of the air and it will actually condense and collet in the bottom of the container, so be careful it could spill and ruin your stuff when you move it around later.
You did a great job!
This is so motivating…my next day off when my kids have daycare…I’m doing it
I have been trying to do the same with my house and as u say ther more you do the better u get at it. So once I have done every room I'm going to start over again as I no I definitely did do it fully right at the start. I have enjoyed watching ur videos
Just like you kept that photo of your dad, you should keep the one of you in your wedding dress. It may mean the world to one of your kids or grandkids later in life💕
I did this a few months ago and literally trashed half of the photos and got rid of the the albums and fit them in 1 photot box. Such a space saver!
You're so right - that would be the day I would relive as well. So many have passed.
🤍🤍🤍
I hope we get a garage declutter video pt.2!
Great job!!
Good Morning family 🌅 and Happy Monday 😊
Just binged your whole kon mai declutter 😍😍😍😍 I loooooove it and your open attitude 😍
(You would fit nicely in with Danes)
What are Danes???
@@MaiZimmy
Hi 🤩
The danish people.
Hearing you it just like we are. Direct and with a bit of humor (eg with topic of bras, period and other things you just talk about) 🤩🤩🤩
Excellent job
For my yearbooks I only kept 8th through 12th grade 😄 A little sad the decluttering journey is over; out of all of the decluttering RUclipsrs out there, I enjoyed yours the most!
I actually don’t have a ton of sentimental clutter, but have been clearing out a lot of other things that we replaced or that we just haven’t been using. I dropped off 7 full boxes of donations today and it’s so satisfying to just have that extra room to BREATHE!
"It looks like I'm carrying water back to the village." 💀🤣
