Just to correct u David doesn’t actually make money from his videos. They get demonetized due to the content he puts out. He makes his money through other means like merch and his podcast and probably SeatGeek sponsorship.
sunnyx213 no he said in Brandon’s video that he will only stop when and if something better comes along. If he stops then how will he market seatgeek ? And if he stops he might lose his audience which may render in a downfall of merch sales ! So yeah basically he says he will stop when something better comes along
Chief of IT I understand Video editing to some people may be super long and tiring but... his videos are 4:20mins, He also shoots 7hours+ footage almost everyday and has to pick from that pile. Not very hard honestly it’s literally a cut and paste job it’s not like a Antonio Garza/Emma chamberlain style vid (not a fan of them) that have waayy more editing and work put in. He could live lavish from Podcast sponsors alone, he’s fine do not worry hunnnyy. lol
David Valencia that’s true but can’t you see why she’d be hurt if she feels like the reason she can’t live with her boyfriend is because she’s a sex worker?
Honestly, I wouldn’t want my kids around Trisha either. Trisha got mad at Jason one time and stripped naked in David’s house... imagine if the kids had been there.
Not sure if Trisha is as calculative as is portrayed here in regard to the David Dobrik exposure video. I can imagine that she also has an impulsive personality and didn't just do that video for views.
She is. The whole reason she got big on the internet in the first place was for this video of her enthusiastically endorsing Mitt Romney back in 2012, while acting like she had no idea what she was talking about. She went viral from that troll video, to the point of being invited on talking shows, which is why she continued making drama videos until she got picked up by Dobrik’s crew.
@@punkyagogo That's a good point. If she is really that fake then god knows what personality disorder that it... she seems pretty lonely, imagine stabbing your only friends in the back like that (regardless if they are wrong or not)...
@@punkyagogo she do troll content, but also she has no friends, so she always gave all her emotions and reality to the Internet too - it is like diary, and that video was not a stunt at all - when she trolls it is really obvious - her struggling crying on the kitchen floor videos are almost never a calculated ones.
I think the fact that she said a LONG time ago that she was collecting blackmail and would expose all of them and end their careers if Jason broke up with her says a lot about her being calculating lmfao. I do, however, think she is still very impulsive, but she plans these things months ahead as revenge because of her deep-seeded trust issues.
10% of your audience will always misunderstand your content. That’s a low number actually. Don’t pander to them. Focus on the majority and not the nagging few. As creators we like to think people are sitting in a quiet room, thoughtfully taking in our content when really, they’re on the toilet, eating a sandwich and texting a friend at the same time.
"Cancel" culture is just ridiculous and wrong, in my opinion. People can change and what they do in the past is *not necessarily* relevant to who they are today (discretion and context are important). "Canceling" a human being is just ridiculous in of itself, this hype machine we've created in culture to "cancel" people is just another form of separating "them" from "us." We're all human, we all make mistakes; we deserve to be able to respond or make up for what we've done (to an extent) and learn from what we've done wrong. Having our mistakes be able to be recorded and uploaded to the internet seems to make this stuff all turn out much worse and more aggressive than ever. This stuff gets under my skin, the whole hopping on the hype train for the sake of doing what's popular, while ruining people's lives because it's being treated without much thought of *all* parties involved. However, the David Dobrik stuff does seem sketchy to me and there should be some repercussions for any wrongdoing within the situation. Edit: I was typing this out only a few seconds into the video and now I've seen that I have basically said what's been said in the video lol
@@showtelll like I said, discretion and context are important. Technically, dating a minor could be considered a "mistake" by definition: "an action or judgement that is misguided or wrong." I do think he should have repercussions, but "canceling" a human being is wrong to me.
Trisha wouldn’t be able to cancel anyone because she has very little credibility herself and does these videos so much no one takes her seriously anymore. Also that video in particular she brought jasons ex wife, children and other people into it. Everyone has seen that she’s a very manipulative person and her and Jason have a very toxic relationship and Trisha finds this stuff funny when it’s not against her. 25/03/2021: WOW what a difference 2 years make, reverse UNO 😂😂😂
Cancel culture is crazy. Harvey Winestine being canceled is great. Some people need to be exposed but others, seems like people wanna hate on someone new every month
NeverChaseVayne Zane is being used by David dobrik when he records him shit faced drunk and injuring himself. Like hospital visits and shit. It’s not even funny.
During that time, David was vlogging girls that got S*xually Assaulted by Duerte Dom. They apparently saw a post to go to the place where the vlog squad stays but didn’t know that Duerte Dom was going to be a creep and get them drunk. And the fact it’s all recorded and David thought it was ok. The vlog squad was just laughing and tried to cover it up. And now Jeff Wittek has come out showing a documentary of what happened to his face and eye revealing it’s eye and brain damage done. He was trying to defend David but is now looking into suing him,
Proof against Trisha as well if she wants to bring up shit against em..like now, he knows the cards he is dealing with so putting it online gives ppl the choice of equal judgment on a situation
He’s pathetic, he puts himself in those situations because he rather make money that way and it gives him an excuse to act however he wants without repercussions. So, yeah, for views and exposure
I truly think that people just got on the drama bandwagon. Tea channels and people were just talking about this without context. Trisha is famous for exposing people, but also for just venting and crying, maybe that video was a little bit of both
She knew what she was doing she was trying to get her fans to go against him. No she wasn't venting the shit she said was harsh. But she lies all the time so no one believes her.
"Canceling" TV shows isn't fair because they exist in a bubble. They are a product of the time when they were made. These shows that ended 15 years ago can't apologize or rectify the situation. They can't make a "very special episode" apologizing for who they were in the past. When you watch a show like "Friends" you have to put your "'90s cap on." No cell phones and waiting for people at the gate at airports. That's the world these TV shows that Gen Z are trying to cancel exist in.
That ignores these shows have had a profound impact on coloring the shows that came after them. Did "How I Met Your Mother" know better in the 2000's with respect to race, homophobia, and transphobia? No. And it was directly inspired by FRIENDS. Outside of writers and producers just learning on their own about these topics, it's necessary to spread knowledge using a base everyone can get behind.
@@rslrandy No argument here about spreading knowledge, but that can't be done with a show that went off the air 15, or even 5, years ago. They're gone. They're dead. They're a thing of the past. Would you cancel someone who is already dead, 5 or 15 years after their death, because you realized some of the things they said or did were wrong in the eyes of today's standards? No, because they're not still here to fix their mistakes. So there's no reason to "cancel" these shows that ended 5 or 15 years ago. They purely exist in the bubble in which they were created. All you can do is hold people/shows that are still here/on the air, like "Mom," "Modern Family," "Fam," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "The Good Place," etc., to today's standards. You want to talk about what's wrong with these current shows, how they are or are not spreading knowledge, and why they should be "canceled"? Fine, because they're still around to defend themselves and change their ways.
David took no accountability when it came to knowing his friend was sleeping with an underage girl, to the point that he was willing to post it online because he knew he wouldn’t be held accountable. David has pushed many of his friends boundaries and they have made it clear in the videos that they aren’t comfortable with it. I don’t support cancel culture. I think people can make mistakes and take accountability and grow from it, but David has never taken true accountability. Instead of making small statements about things that could have been blown over he has chosen not to. I use to be the biggest David dobrik stan but honestly this has gotten out of hand. It’s long overdue that he finally gets called out on his shit.
Trisha needs help but tbh so do the people she mentioned. Bringing Jason’s Ex and kids into it was too far for me though, not everyone lives their lives on RUclips like she does. It’s almost as if if it’s not on RUclips it isn’t relevant to her. If she was so bothered about the Brandon thing maybe she should have done something about it before hand, personally it feels like she’s just reaching for any controversy out of anger. If when you’re upset or angry your first thought is “I’ll make a video and get them” you have some kind of issues.
Exactly. If Trisha was actually uncomfortable at the fact that Brandon was dating a minor, why didn't she bring it up before? It just seems like she only brought it up to use it to her advantage and doesn't actually care about the problem.
@@Feelflowww Oh you're naive. Her problem with Brandon wasn't that he was dating this girl (and calling her a teen is so over exaggerated). She waited for the moment to ruin his life, the moment she saw this stupid video about Brandon being "shady".
Yeah I think Brandon deserved tp be outed for what he did but the fact that she kept quiet until it suited her to throe him under the bus doesn't speak well for Trisha's integrity. Plus the ex wife stuff was entirely inappropriate and immature.
Tbh i feel bad for Jason's kids because of the stupid things he says or does. I know that 's how he makes money but saying things like he wants a 3some with Tana, it's just wrong.
@@agusaguilarm Trisha doesn't even have anyone to be embarrassed of when she did smth or say smth crazy, she has no husband nor kids and her mom and friends don't even care that she have this wild personality.
I think Trisha was wrong in bringing in Jason’s ex wife, but I do think exposing Brandon was something done right. I respect Trisha for bringing that to light because so many youtubers hide things that are so repulsive and predatory and those people don’t deserve their platform.
Josh Mrtz yes she did know about it, but she eventually spoke about it, as opposed to everyone else who also could’ve said something. You can blame Trish and have a vendetta against her but everyone else is just as guilty
Trisha does this stuff to stir up views/drama. If people don't see how she does this then damn people are blind. She did it with the 100 layers thing, then the "break-up" now this, She makes a ton of money off it so why not. Anyways cancel culture has gotten out of hand. People get super offended over thoughts these days. "oh you thought something racist 40 years ago? You're cancelled!" Our society has become an over sensitive drama queen.
I agree David is a good soul. I've been watching, yeah he says some weird shit but he gives to his friends and family most to him, he's young, and he's no where as near horrible as Jake / Logan Paul he didn't do ANYTHING wrong to be exposed. Next Trisha paytas
She obviously uploads these videos for views, but to believe that she isn't actually bawling her childish ass off on the floor is hilarious. She isn't doing it primarily for views, she does it because she is a child that can't handle any sort of criticism whatsoever. She has papier-mache skin.
literally writing an essay on "cancel culture" and how it desensitizes accusations of racism, homophobia, etc. it seems like someone is cancelled every other day. how do you think we can fix this over sensitivity?
by holding people accountable for themselves and not excusing them for doing dumb shit expecting ppl to still give them money/views. I'm a genius, I know.
I'm kinda bored with Trisha and Jason's relationship beause one second they love each other and then suddenly there arguing. She shouldn't have brought up Jason's ex wife but I do respect her for bringing up the thing about Brandon.
She only brought it up when she wanted to hurt them though, she's known about that as long as the rest of them. Yeah it's good she brings it up now, but I don't believe for a minute that she is any different in that regard, she bragged about fucking her high school bus driver, we're not dealing with classy people here. She didn't bring it up because she thought it was wrong, she brought it up because she knows what will ruin these people. There's a reason she didn't say anything concrete about what somehow makes David a "horrible human being". Because she had nothing, she just whined on camera for 20 minutes, starting drama as per usual.
Mike Wasowski this is true. I wish she used her knowledge and inside into the drama of RUclips to spread awareness about what shady things RUclipsrs are doing and not just bring them up when she's mad at them because they wronged her in anyway.
Mike Wasowski also I constantly think about the fact that in regards to personal drama the vlog squad never really does it on public eye. Like David and Liza talked about their breakup 6 months after it happened, same with Todd and Corinna they talked about it after it was done. For something like this, if anyone (even David) said something, we are not gonna know about it. They could have told him something or maybe they didn’t. We’ll never know
@@valentinafangirling yeah, that's why I really don't like Trish for always blasting her life on social media, because the rest if them now have to bring out personal shit and put it in the limelight. Like you said, if it were a problem not involving Trisha, we more than likely would never have heard about this, or if we did, we would have heard about it after the fact, and once emotions were at a normal place. Trishas thought process in general is toxic af, to herself AND those around her, she needs to either cut ties and start on a clean slate, or seriously get her act together, stop listening to the enabling fans and really look at what's wrong. Because she shows no signs of improving her mental health.
Mike Wasowski well the Brandon thing I’m pretty sure was real and he’s a creep for it. But again, idk if anyone talked to him about it and honestly even If I disagree (having myself been in a similar position with a 23 year old dude when I was 17... and lowkey we still friends) i can understand how thr situation is not necessarily inherently toxic. I think Trish def has a personality disorder and should get help. She constantly fucks over the people around her and herself. Not that I care about her ass anymore after that whole Trump clip anyways lmao
dude people are either too sensitive or too harsh. Like the threesome joke was never okay, sure Trisha said dirty stuff but they repeated that joke everytime and also Trisha told that she ended up stripping in the camera because she wanted them to stop filming that joke
Because she wants to become relevant again in the RUclips space she is making a lot of her money from porn and everybody knows she is happy to say that
trisha: * constantly makes jokes about sleeping with people eg jason’s dad, david etc * jason: * makes one or two jokes about it * trisha: DaViD dObRiK iS a HoRrIbLe HuMaN bEiNg
The Rewired Soul David uploaded an insta story an hour ago. You can hear Trisha in the background. If this is current. We ALL were trolled. Hahaha well played vlog squad, well played.
All I'm saying is that all of the vlog squad members with girlfriends never asked David in 3 separate videos to help them get a threesome. Plus Jason had previously tried to make a legit move on Tana on a vlog date they did. We all know Jason wanted that threesome on a serious note. It went past a vlog bit and into the real life consequences of wanting to cheat on your partner, or at least begging your partner and friend an uncomfortable amount for a threesome..
Someone commented on my comment 2 years ago. I forgot I even commented, and I brought up Dom allegations beforehand 2016-2017 and the sleazy jokes they made about the situation. This incident is sadly another incident from what Dom did back in 2016-2017.
I think people don't even care about the David and Jason drama anymore. More focused on Brandon and the minor incident which is illegal in California...
Are you sure about people pitying her? The only people that I see who are pitying her are her fans (or "stans"). I hadn't seen any RUclips drama channel who have covered story feel sorry for her or any of the Vlog Squad. I have seen more people upset at her for denying that she ever supported Trump, that her "pro-Trump" video was just trolling when she stated in pro-Trump video that she wasn't trolling.
@@justme3846 Supporting someone is supporting their beliefs. Not that you can't be friends with or associate with people of different beliefs. However, in a business or social setting, supporting that person while they are active and vocal about their beliefs is basically saying to everyone else that, despite what you think is wrong, you want them to succeed. Simply: This person wants XYZ to happen for our country. I hate the idea of XYZ. I'm going to discourage XYZ by not supporting this person, so that the idea I belive in will become a reality.
Even though people are saying Brandon shouldn’t have been brought into it I’m glad he was. Trisha obviously was trying to take down people but waiting for something like this was wrong. Sadly this does make me question the Vlog Squad though.
Honestly imo Brandon did nothing wrong. Maybe for the CA law.. But even the girl in question and probably her family (parents) don't see a problem. Especially now she is old enough for the law. Maybe they werent even in a sexual relationship, just hanging out. WE DONT KNOW ANYTHING. We should not make things bigger than they are.
@@bajabl This is like a year and a half later. David will bounce back. His friend committed the act without anyone else's knowledge so he will be back. Trisha on the other hand will still be a negative person that only her closest buddies will hang with. She's a hypocrite and she will only talk trash about someone if that someone doesn't bring her views or cash anymore.
everybody thinks David is just another one of those Logan Paul types when they firs get exposed to him but he really isn't. The guy is so genuine and likable and a fantastic entertainer.
ItzSilentStorm I agree completely. I really like his style of four minute videos. It's very straightforward and I'm entertained almost all of the time unlike Jake Paul who stretches out and over-exaggerates every detail of the video for ad revenue
This is my first time watching one of your videos. I follow all of those mentioned here-for laughs, for friendships (other vlog squad members such as Carly and Erin), and yes, sometimes for the petty drama that I myself will likely never experience in my own life. The mentioned youtubers' videos are like a trainwreck, sometimes I just can't look away. I try to not be drawn in and manipulated, though. I love your take on this, and your levelheadedness! People are so quick to jump on the mob bandwagon without doing their research or coming to conclusions on their own time by themselves. I appreciate and relate to people like you, I feel like we are a dying breed in this age of social media.
I don’t like how every time I bring up that Dom has sexually assaulted women and they all make jokes about it in the vlogs, people decide to reply on the irrelevant part of my argument
ilona lundell about a year or two ago. A few girls came forward saying that Dom had sexually assaulted them. He made a whole ass apology video, he has since deleted the video.
So what we don’t care if David got exposed in fact he never got exposed at all. All Trisha did was talked about the reason why she was crying or having mental breakdown. All did David was joked around with Jason and Trisha having a threesome with tana monologuie, he was joking, he’s a young, he’s learning. Besides it isn’t canceled because Trisha the vlogs are still going on. I saw it a day ago. David has been the chillest person at of trisha. I may be a fan and all. But Jason and tana’s date years (months really) before Jason and Trisha met each other.
I love David Dobirk and all, but sometimes he can go so far, and I feel that Trisha *might* me telling the truth but there's going to be no way that anyone will believe her, because she has gotten into so many conserversies that I think we've all lost count. But, idk, my opinion anyway.
Name 3 times he has went to far? Ive watched a couple of his videos and everyone consents to do things to be on his vlog...So im interested in what is too far
@@DonJaye For a while, his videos have calmed down but he has gone a bit far. 1. When he sellotaped Alex to the wall ad refused to bring him down. 2. When he threw a smoke bomb in the room where Todd, Zane and Scotty were, while there were in the middle of a Q&A. 3. When he made Jason get bitten by a snake and it resulted in the mess of blood. Now, I love David Dobrik, I really do, but I think even a super fan of him would kinda agree of the fact that *sometimes* he does go a little too far.
@@thetukitokyo I don't think the pranks are what takes it too far because they all laugh it off afterwards. Maybe some of the jokes the squad makes can be controversial or sensitive but that's abt it.
@@thetukitokyo i know I'm a bit late but scott and Zane were in on the smoke bomb timing too, pranking tody. while Jason agreed to being bitten by the snake, (he was fine at first)
twice _velvet I was about to say that too. Thanks for saying it. Lots of people take things too far sometimes. But I really love the jokes. We know his humor
Why is it bad if Brandon's gf was 17.5, but totally fine if she was 18.1? Either way it may be cutting it close maturity wise. But ultimately who cares. She's not hurt.
Dee Gee thats what i say, in europe 90% of the countries the age of consent is 16 and it‘s totally fckn normal for everybody, but as soon americans hear a 24 year old dated a 17year old and about 10 month old girl on consent its rape and disgusting, like what the fuck is weomg with america
Honestly, it’s a stupid thing for Trisha to attack them on. She and Jason were 15 years apart. Granted, they are much older... but one day Brandon’s gf will be 23 and Brandon will be 29. She was a few months off 18 when they met and if she consented to everything there is really no issue. She’s old enough now and the age gap is not that huge. It’s not like he was an 18 year old perusing a 12 year old.
Hunter Hudgens right. Everyone is very easily brainwashed into group think out of fear of social rejection, or desire for social validation, so even though this is a moral question, or even scientific or biological, ppl are using the law, tho very general, to make moral and biological decisions to ensure their "opinions" will be widely socially accepted. And they'll be validated.
I mean.... it depends on how old the other person is. Like if Brandon was in his 30s and the girl was under 18 that wouldn’t be okay but if he was in his really early 20s or late teens it wouldn’t be that bad.
Luca Bergmann 16 is way to young to be age of consent. America’s age of consent is perfectly okay at 18. In my opinion, if you’re over the age of 30 and you’re interested in teenage girls it’s pedophilia. Just my opinion tho.
But then again is a joke really a joke if one party doesn’t want to be involved in it or is uncomfortable with it? Oh actually never mind, I guess that person’s feelings doesn’t matter, too sensitive for 2019. *it’s just a joke bruh*
Still a joke unless they made their feelings known at that time. I am not sure what you are talking about, but is it one of those, they should know the person is uncomfortable situations? An edgy joke can make someone uncomfortable even when they laugh at it *Edit because they find it funny* . Discomfort isn't a metric to measure what is and what is not a joke.
I personally think David has been shady for a long time, his attitude has made me uncomfortable for a long time now. He is literally a bully. What I'm surprised about is how little people seem to care, when people have been cancelled for stuff that's years old, or not that big of a deal at all...
Completely agree, but he is a very smart manipulative person, saying he is positive and has no negative feeling about people but constantly abusing everyone Who gets in its way just to get what he wants. It is scary that a lot of People believe the "vlogsquad" its all just fun and Games.
Can you name some examples of things he did or said? I’m just curious, I don’t watch most of his videos but he genuinely seems like the nicest & sweetest person, everyone likes him and I cannot imagine him ever doing or saying anything negative about anyone at all? It seems really out of character? He is always nice??
@@Alyssa18633 I won't try and find the stuff word by word, but he would do this thing with Trisha and Jason where he knew they were recording and he would intentionally say something to try and cause issues between them while recording. Sometimes it happened on their podcast when she was a guest or sitting by and some on video, but basically the thing that bothers me is that he seems to think causing problems with people's relationships is entertaining and the same with literally insulting others in ways you already know is going to actually hurt them. But trying to disguise it as a joke so no one "can be mad" at him. The David-bit that Trisha talked about, most of it I had already noted myself from Jason and Trishas vlogs and the podcast, since it's the reason I stopped listening to the podcast and watching any of their vlogs months ago, all three are kinda fucked up and toxic. He's mentally abusive, imho, maybe it's just to Trisha but I wouldn't bet on it.
@@vertblazer yeah, I feel that kind of manipulative vibe from his stuff as well. And sometimes I get creeped out by his laugh when it's just a bit off, a little too loud and forced and not enough of "fun". david and trisha aside, am i the only one that has always been kinda disturbed by Jason, like im not saying you cant date someone a decade and a half younger but ever since vine, just seeing a grown ass man hanging with 20 year olds acting like a child and saying all that inapropiate stuff about young women seems really fucked to me, i really feel bad for his ex wife and kids, the amount of shame must be unbearable
I'm subbed to both Trisha & Jason (David, too) and I'm honestly getting whiplash from all the videos they've been uploading and taking down these last few days.
Your talk about forgiveness is something that people on the internet forget. The tiniest mistakes are unforgivable these days. People apologising for things they don’t need to be saying sorry for. I agree that people need to be critiqued, but I find that people on the internet (and in real life) have forgotten how to forgive.
7:50 "This makes me wonder if--in the future--we're going to see fabricated drama" OMG NO WAY, THE VLOGSQUAD WOULD NEVER!!! 😱😱😱 It's true. The reason vlogger groups form is to multiply ad revenue when people take sides. This video does a great job of explaining that phenomenon. But it is a deliberate, premeditated (and often transparent) business model. Like, seriously, nothing in David's videos is real, and we all know it. What we're watching is a group of men having fun together--like getting a backstage view of the SNL writers' room or tagging along with an improv group. We're watching improv. Which makes Trisha an interesting addition... Trisha has said her entertainment and sense of humor are unique from Jason's and the vlogsquad's because she is "real"--ie--she's trying to entertain people WITH HER ACTUAL EXPERIENCES. It's very important for her that her reality and "doing it for views" is aligned. It's her brand. It sets her apart from vloggers who are making the bet that their fiction is more clickable than their reality. She aligns herself more with Shane's aesthetic: she's creating entertainment in the service of sharing her story with people who empathize with her (fat women in particular). (The vlogsquad has it the other way around--they use social intrigue in the service of entertainment, so it doesn't matter if the intrigue is real or not). This drama with Jason makes good content for Trisha because her audience (at least the portion that identifies with her) WANTS to watch her real attempt at a romantic relationship. She is constantly testing her insecurities with Jason because it is authentic to how she actually feels, which in turn makes it relevant to her audience and gets her the views she wants. Her style is--to me--much more interesting AND much more uncomfortable, because it's not "just entertainment" that might be taken as a loose commentary on some removed reality. However exaggerated, manipulated, or exploited, her content is closely tied to something real: It represents a real experience. That is the driving force behind being interested in Trisha Paytas: she IS autobiographical, the character stays true enough to be the "true story" of her life. While you could say David's "story" follows his professional identity as an entertainer, that is hardly why people are watching. Anything personal from him is notably absent. This seems to annoy Trisha: David has no skin the game--he must rely on his associations with others who are willing to connect more intimately with a fan base. But Trisha isn't David's monkey. She's aware of her own distinct value and negotiates it against David's value-by-association. When David crosses a line, she's aware of where the line is because she knows the value she provides to him. &While her value may be replaceable, it is irreducible. His clumsiness as a doing-it-while-the-views-last entertainer waters down her brand. Anyway. I like this video. Insightful.
7:51 "... this does make me wonder though if in the future we're gonna see fabricated drama because the influencer knows that mob mentality gets them more clicks" Honey this has happened so many times. RUclipsrs with the most loyal and immature fans do this the most. It's only going to happen more and more.
I was thinking the same thing hahaha this has been a thing for at least a couple of years. Maybe she meant fake SERIOUS drama. Like more grounded problems, for example, a messy break up. Drama where it's good, but people aren't playing it up, it's just very blunt and feels a lot more real, less theatric
Cancel culture in a nutshell (props to some friend of my gf on Facebook): "Oh you sent a Christmas card to your racist and transphobic grandma five years ago? Sorry but it's the gulag for you."
Thank you for speaking on this. I’ve been thinking about cancel culture lately and I hate the idea of it. That someone’s career can be completely ruined because of one thing they do or say
I’m not even surprised with David being exposed. This dude mixes around with so many celebs and youtubers and record literally every second of his life. I mean at one point someone would’ve exposed him. I imagine he’s got a lot of tea ☕️
I know I'm late but Donna is up on it! You're doing a great job with your channel Donna! And thank you for the revenue breakdown. It really helps my perspective. 😊 Hell, I don't make this kind of money but I have REAL relationships.
This is really interesting. This is the kind of video that a University Professor would show during a lecture. I like that you based your videos on statistics and facts rather than making a review video completely on your opinions.
Great vid. With regard to 'Mob mentality', this is also due to lack of 'life focus' which I believe most of humanity suffers with. Ie. The limitation of the amount of 'jobs' available to do 'work'. Does the average member of public want to do the 'work' they are doing? - no. We are slaves, making 'the few' rich with a false sense of freedom. That's the kicker, we think we are free, but where could we go without money passport etc.? We are stuck on this huge monopoly board prison, chained down by taxes, car payments, mortgages etc. The average person is not allowed to earn enough to be free. I don't think Trisha was attempting to "cancel" David & company. I think she was sick of being pushed around by them. They constantly use her as a punching bag. When someone says to you that they are uncomfortable, you stop. Period. Doesn't matter what they have said or joked about - all that is irrelevant bc they are saying here and now, "This hurts me and it makes me uncomfortable." Exposing David was her way of showing that his mentality- "DO IT FOR THE VLOG" - is toxic. And it is. Not just for Trisha, but for everyone. Jonah describing how he lost his virginity for a vlog was sad. Most of the vlog squad have already sustained serious injuries. Jason admitted to being hurt and saying horrible things for the joke. That is what she's exposing. They pushed and pushed her then when she was down they dismissed her feelings and made her feel crazy. No matter how you feel about Trisha, that behavior is emotionally abusive. Trisha used the only power she had left. Instead of seeing this as "drama" (which is just as dismissive as calling someone crazy), try to dig into WHY she is doing this at all. I'm sure there's an element of "attention seeking" but she knew that video would get her more hate than understanding, so I really don't think it was a play for sympathy.
That would be a good video. I dont know why they do it. Its clear David is the most famous one of the Vlog squad and uses his friends for content, but Ive always wondered why they don't just say no. He gets away with a lot of stuff and does it strictly for the views.
@@noneyodavis7590 For that you have to dig into attention seeking, codependency, fame desperate, etc. What I find most interesting is how David saying things like "You would do anything for me? How much do you want to help me?" is completely glossed over by a lot of comment/reaction videos. That is exactly how abusers condition their victims - they frame it in a way that is ultimately framed as "How much do you love me? Prove it." It's extremely toxic.
celifacejones totally agree. The girl I the video dismissed all of that. She tried to be neutral but end up being biased against Trisha. Notice the choice of words she used when talking about Trisha compared to david and company
celifacejones I think you are totally dismissing the fact that these are grown ass adults who know how to say no. They are not being forced to do anything, they agree to it. Plus they have big followings as individuals, so they don’t really need David to get by, yet they still do the dangerous stuff. You know why? Because they want to. Trisha 100% did this to try and cancel David.
In that expose video there were so many comments calling Jason a pedo and a predator for flirting with Tana who was 20 at the time. One person even saying if you are over 30 you shouldn't date someone under 27. Just be honest admit that you think old guys are gross. If someone is of age and wants to date someone older they are old enough to make that choice.
In the video there’s this once part at 2:52 that’s an actual event that’s going on back in my home country Venezuela ppl are fighting because they want freedom and there’re trying to get rid of the horrible government there
Love your content, and the topic in this video is really important to look into. These are just my thoughts on the matter: I totally agree with giving people the chance to grow and change. BUT it's also important to have limits and boundaries. People can't just bounce back from for example racist or sexist pasts, no matter how accepted it was back then, especially if they do not address it properly in the present. A good example of someone addressing misbehaviours in the past properly would in my opinion be Jenna Marbles. She didn't have to, but chose to because the times have in fact changed. This shows actual growth and understanding for the people it could've affected, even though it didn't necessarily do so. I also do think a person can address something properly even if they have been asked to by the viewers, but this doesn't always show actual growth or change in my opinion. What I find tricky about this is that we can't let people get away with whatever, but we also have to give people the chance to change in some instances. Cancel culture is definently not the best way of dealing with the matter, but it can also be effective when the system doesn't acknowledge the issue itself. RUclips SUCKS at taking down the worst youtubers, but "cancel culture" has "removed" multiple from the public eye through said "mob-mentality". Just look at Shane and Onision for instance. This doesn't mean that cancel culture is all good! Far from it. But the part about the viewers taking control over the platform can often work a lot better than a corporation doing it and this has to be acknowledged and not looked too much down upon I think. We have to keep the power as viewers, and keep our voice in matters concerning what type of content and what type of values we will accept. I don't like RUclips being a "job" where we have nothing to say about it. Because RUclips or RUclipsrs spread information and can undermine or build up under structures and opinions that we really should or shouldn't be supporting. So when I watch videos about cancel cultrure I don't want that to be a synonym for the viewers voice or this "mob". To me cancel culture is much more about RUclipsrs using the media and the viewers to gain more publicity, because as we see they usually bounce back after some time, or it's to create drama basically. And that is also what I read into your definition of it in this video! I just wanted to point out who actually holds the most power. That is in fact the youtubers and the media in cancel culture, and I don't think the viewers are always the real issue. It's in my opinion the RUclips-structure and the system itself that proves most dangerous to this platform. And we as viewers have to fight back, and not be mislead by voices stronger than our own.
you are my NEW favorite person omg. combining pop culture & news with actual, scientific facts & wordings but for people to really understand and open up their mind to???? youre amazing omg
Okay I understand thinking Trisha is overreacting but you don't agree with her at ALL? Nothing about what she said in that video or how Jason gaslighted her in their video together afterwards affected your opinion? She was right about Brandon for one thing, much as I hate to say it. But she also made very clear that this joke was very much a sore spot for her. They legit joked about each others parents and THIS is the one joke that she veto'd openly, but David posted it anyway. The jokes Trisha made were in Jason's presence (not to mention she stopped making jokes about his friends months ago because even though he said it was fine she knew it bothered him) all the tana jokes were made behind Trisha's back.
Yeah I agree. The video was a rash decision but she said that she tried to talk to them in person about it and nobody listened. She felt desperate and hurt and this whole thing is a mess
I don't think she tried to cancel David, it's just Trisha's style to air every emotion she has publicly. She just said how both of them were assholes to her. My guess is they made amends behind curtains and both deleted their videos. In David's last insta story you can hear Trisha talking in the background.
This was so incredibility spot on. There were many, many, MANY points that I think you covered well - but a couple that really resonated with me were: 1) Talking about non-influencers should be done offline - I really really hope this becomes common etiquette. Influencers sometimes take for granted how many people they can “sway” and to what extent they can sway them. Turning a mob of 100k+ against someone who’s opted out of being in the spotlight is terrifying. 2) Cultivating a culture of forgiveness - YES, YES, YESS. It freaks me out how the internet tries to dole out justice by forever demonizing someone who’s made a mistake. As you say, denying a person forgiveness denies them the chance to change (and, by extension, their humanity). 👏🏻applause👏🏻 Again, AWESOME video.
Trisha expresses her feelings multiple times in person, in text, in calls, and even in voicemail. She made the video because she was honestly hurt and felt like she is not being heard. If they listened to her in the first place the video would not have happened. The only thing she done wrong is mentioning the wife and kids. Other than that the video is definitely warranted. You have to take into consideration that most of these youtubers won’t change unless pressured in public scrutiny.
I 100% agree She drew a very hard line about the one joke she didn’t like and David, very purposely, stepped over it. I don’t think he’s “cancelled” but he should acknowledge that what he did was wrong

Just to correct u David doesn’t actually make money from his videos. They get demonetized due to the content he puts out. He makes his money through other means like merch and his podcast and probably SeatGeek sponsorship.
Yea I worry about that because what if David stops vlogging because he can't maintain.
Chief of IT David’s been wanting to stop vlogging. Because of Trisha’s drama, he might actually just stop now...
sunnyx213 no he said in Brandon’s video that he will only stop when and if something better comes along.
If he stops then how will he market seatgeek ? And if he stops he might lose his audience which may render in a downfall of merch sales !

This is GREAT ADVICE, IMHO. 💛💛

Yeah, but it's fun 😆

Was she really trying to 'cancel' David though? Or was she literally just venting on camera, like she always does about all kinds of stuff.
Roxanne Lavender right? I don’t think she was “cancelling” David. She was just straight up upset and expressing her feelings.
I truly think that people just got on the drama bandwagon. Tea channels and people were just talking about this without context.
Trisha is famous for exposing people, but also for just venting and crying, maybe that video was a little bit of both
Uh, she brought up shit that had nothing to do with that situation. Yes she was trying to start something, she wasn't just venting.
She knew what she was doing she was trying to get her fans to go against him. No she wasn't venting the shit she said was harsh. But she lies all the time so no one believes her.
What difference does it make?
"Canceling" TV shows isn't fair because they exist in a bubble. They are a product of the time when they were made. These shows that ended 15 years ago can't apologize or rectify the situation. They can't make a "very special episode" apologizing for who they were in the past. When you watch a show like "Friends" you have to put your "'90s cap on." No cell phones and waiting for people at the gate at airports. That's the world these TV shows that Gen Z are trying to cancel exist in.
That seems profound!
That ignores these shows have had a profound impact on coloring the shows that came after them. Did "How I Met Your Mother" know better in the 2000's with respect to race, homophobia, and transphobia? No. And it was directly inspired by FRIENDS. Outside of writers and producers just learning on their own about these topics, it's necessary to spread knowledge using a base everyone can get behind.
rslrandy That falls upon who wrote the storylines of HIMYM, not FRIENDS.
@Overweight Russian Grandma You've never heard the phrases "canceling," "very special episode," or "put your ____ cap on"?
This aged extremely well
David took no accountability when it came to knowing his friend was sleeping with an underage girl, to the point that he was willing to post it online because he knew he wouldn’t be held accountable.
Her and Brandon have always clashed and I never understood why until she revealed he was dating a underage teenager
@@Feelflowww Oh you're naive. Her problem with Brandon wasn't that he was dating this girl (and calling her a teen is so over exaggerated). She waited for the moment to ruin his life, the moment she saw this stupid video about Brandon being "shady".

Who’s here now that everyone’s trying to actually cancel David 😶
Seems like it all aged pretty well
Someone commented on my comment 2 years ago. I forgot I even commented, and I brought up Dom allegations beforehand 2016-2017 and the sleazy jokes they made about the situation. This incident is sadly another incident from what Dom did back in 2016-2017.
I think people don't even care about the David and Jason drama anymore. More focused on Brandon and the minor incident which is illegal in California...
what did brandon do?
What states allow it?! I am not curious for myself...
Well.... Nothing happened
*trisha supports trump*
*cancel culture comes attack*
*trisha got dumped*
*everyone starts siding and feeling pity for her immediately*
Are you sure about people pitying her? The only people that I see who are pitying her are her fans (or "stans"). I hadn't seen any RUclips drama channel who have covered story feel sorry for her or any of the Vlog Squad. I have seen more people upset at her for denying that she ever supported Trump, that her "pro-Trump" video was just trolling when she stated in pro-Trump video that she wasn't trolling.
she doesint support trump she says is as a joke to sound crazy
@@justme3846 Supporting someone is supporting their beliefs. Not that you can't be friends with or associate with people of different beliefs. However, in a business or social setting, supporting that person while they are active and vocal about their beliefs is basically saying to everyone else that, despite what you think is wrong, you want them to succeed. Simply: This person wants XYZ to happen for our country. I hate the idea of XYZ. I'm going to discourage XYZ by not supporting this person, so that the idea I belive in will become a reality.
chai trisha will come for you
OliveBranch he’s been doing great things for us.
This popped up in my recommended and it scared me because I was thinking “what did he do” then I realized this was uploaded 6 months ago lmao
ikr? hahahaha 6 months later and David is still going strong and nobody speaks of Trisha anymore 😂
@@mra6308 yikes
@@bajabl This is like a year and a half later. David will bounce back. His friend committed the act without anyone else's knowledge so he will be back. everybody thinks David is just another one of those Logan Paul types when they firs get exposed to him but he really isn't.
ItzSilentStorm he’s also actually funny. Jake Paul isn’t
Outrage and cancel culture leads to actual important issues losing their significance and attention.
Well this didn't age well.

I thought this came out in 2021 after the kissing prank scandal

2021 is here and we are letting Trisha heal from her horrendous ex friends
I watched the original video of trisha, i didn't know what to think.....😕
The victim blaming is gross
you keep on topping yourself, dAMN youre good
But then again is a joke really a joke if one party doesn’t want to be involved in it or is uncomfortable with it? Oh actually never mind, I guess that person’s feelings doesn’t matter, too sensitive for 2019. *it’s just a joke bruh*
I hate the “it’s just a joke culture”
DarkMaster706 oh boy
Still a joke unless they made their feelings known at that time. I am not sure what you are talking about, but is it one of those, they should know the person is uncomfortable situations? An edgy joke can make someone uncomfortable even when they laugh at it *Edit because they find it funny* . Discomfort isn't a metric to measure what is and what is not a joke.
Honestly, it's about how people can tolerate the joke not the insensitivity.

Your talk about forgiveness is something that people on the internet forget. The tiniest mistakes are unforgivable these days. People apologising for things they don’t need to be saying sorry for. I agree that people need to be critiqued, but I find that people on the internet (and in real life) have forgotten how to forgive.
Marie Hornung I agree, people need Jesus more than ever
7:50 "This makes me wonder if--in the future--we're going to see fabricated drama" OMG NO WAY, THE VLOGSQUAD WOULD NEVER!!! 😱😱😱
It's true.
Insightful.
why are people saying this aged well? she's literally assuming trisha was making shit up. not cool
7:51 "... this does make me wonder though if in the future we're gonna see fabricated drama because the influencer knows that mob mentality gets them more clicks"

I was thinking the same thing hahaha this has been a thing for at least a couple of years.

We are explorers, artists and are capable of far more than school has indocrinated - infinite potential. The world is free and so we should live free.
Try not to cut yourself with that edge buddy

I don't think Trisha was attempting to "cancel" David & company. I think she was sick of being pushed around by them. They constantly use her as a punching bag. When someone says to you that they are uncomfortable, you stop. Period. Doesn't matter what they have said or joked about - all that is irrelevant bc they are saying here and now, "This hurts me and it makes me uncomfortable."
Exposing David was her way of showing that his mentality- "DO IT FOR THE VLOG" - is toxic.
Prove it."
It's extremely toxic.
celifacejones totally agree.

Love your content, and the topic in this video is really important to look into. These are just my thoughts on the matter:
I totally agree with giving people the chance to grow and change.
It's in my opinion the RUclips-structure and the system itself that proves most
dangerous to this platform.
In David's last insta story you can hear Trisha talking in the background.
yall saying "this aged well" no it literally did not
5:42 Jason: "Are you 5 different people?"
Trisha: "I have dissociative identity disorder."
This was so incredibility spot on. There were many, many, MANY points that I think you covered well - but a couple that really resonated with me were:
1) Talking about non-influencers should be done offline - I really really hope this becomes common etiquette.
I 100% agree
She drew a very hard line about the one joke she didn’t like and David, very purposely, stepped over it.
I don’t think he’s “cancelled” but he should acknowledge that what he did was wrong
