One thing I will say about this is that in order for it to be massive (like Shane Dawson status), David has to start uploading on RUclips again. Right now people don't really care about him because he stopped what he was known for which is vlogging. So, because his popularity is down (somewhat), drama channels don't care about reporting the story.
The new one is probably fake too so that he doesn’t lose fans. He just wants to keep making money and lying to people about how fake and toxic and racist he is.

Reputation means everything on RUclips, the reason Onision was ignored when he accused Shane, was because he ALSO has a history of sexualizing minors and hating on Shane because of envy. Tati was also ignored because of her controversy with James Charles, showing the viewers that she isn't a trustworthy source. Not saying the evidence shown doesn't hold up that Shane is a weirdo, just my thoughts as to why people didn't take the accusations from these people too seriously.
It's hard to be a trustworthy source when you're being fed lies and being manipulated by Jeffree star. She was egged on, Shane offered to edit her video. Jeffree is the one who messaged drama channels, I've seen the receipts, the videos are out there. so when Shane in his insta live video yells "BECAUSE YOU MESSAGED THE DRAMA CHANNELS" He was wrong, it was Jeffree who tipped them off of her video before she even filmed it. Since tati decided not to be in Shane's docu they (him and Jeffree) had to switch gears and reconfigure their plan. Its well known that Jeffree enjoys taking down his competition, even a 19 year old. Tati was just a pawn in Jeffree scheme. And I think Shane was also a pawn. Although, Shane has his own pile of dirty laundry to deal with right now and I'm not excusing any of the sick things from his passed, Jeffree manipulated him into this too. Jeffree saw Shane as a money maker. Shane was making make up as a short lived passion, but Jeffree is the one making bank off it. In conclusion, Jeffree star is the epicenter of every drama and scandal involving the beauty community. Whether he starts it, eggs it on, or inserts himself in drama that doesn't even involve him, he is the one causing all of this toxicity. Shane isn't innocent, but he was manipulated too. tati has a big heart and it bit her in the ass, as it does with anyone with a big heart. You get taken advantage of.

Edit: I’ve been thinking about the idea of deplatforming. As an audience, we can’t really decide who gets a platform and who doesn’t. However, we can decide which people we watch. So, if we don’t like a person/ don’t want to support them, we just stop interacting with their content. We stop giving them money and views.

If you watch any of the videos he made prior to his "documentaries" he's constantly belittling his friends and boyfriend. I remember excusing it as 'a show for the camera' type of attitude, but even his boyfriend has said he treats him worse off camera. it's so weird because even people my age who've been watching RUclips for a _long_ time, we knew that Shane had a weird past but a lot of my friends just thought it was looked down upon because it was gross or immature humor and at the time when it was new we were too young to really notice what was happening. it's super weird & unsettling to look back at these things that were happening during our childhood & realize that there was something REALLY dark going on.

I think your prediction about the beloved David Dobrik’s façade dropping could be true. My thoughts: I used to be a HUGE fan of the vlog squad from like 2016-2019 and used to watch them since vine. After a while, I noticed how David’s disregard for his friends safety and the looking glass broke. I’m not surprised they’ve been exposed for this, David’s borderline sociopathic behaviour Is excuses because he posted quick, digestible content with catchy relèvent music. Any young people watching him are drawn in that way, ESPECIALLY with all the current music he uses in his vlogs. His vlogs are reliable and consistent and short; making them more entertaining to his viewers. Additionally, the dependency and belittling his friends put themselves thru for his vlogs was a red flag to me. It’s like there’s s mutual exploitive relationship between them. The friends get used as content and their safety/ health is risked for the vlog, in return they’re gaining a following who wants to know more about David so they sub to his friends. And his friends get rewarded for risking themselves with expensive cars. On their own, the friends without David aren’t desired or interesting enough for them to have the same following as David. They can’t copy his style of vids or they’ll be called out. They’re pawns, very funded pawns. Also, there’s competition between the friends and with themselves on who can be the most outlandish and end up in the vlog, this lead the to do inappropriate things and risk themselves further, that’s how they’re brand has been established. E.g. Zayn is always the drunk one, Korinna is the ‘hoe’, Toddy is a fuckboy etc. Their self value and esteem somewhat relies on the attention they get from the vlog also, with how much they comprise themselves. It’s sad. The only reason they’re getting that attention is because ppl want to get to know them to get closer to David. I’m not a fan of Trish at ALL, but the second she spoke out against them I knew there more than what she was saying and I believe her. The vlog squad is a relatively cute young guy recording his friends doing increasingly more dangerous , inappropriately and compromising things, editing it down to 4min and 20sec with catching music at the end or the little montage. Once they turn 30+ they’ll look back and see they basically were used, abused and exploited. This mode of media WONT last, it won’t be funny when they’re 40 and Jason is 60. It’s so sad that nothing sustainable will come out of this, it’s only here thought of for the moment. THATS when the looking glass will break for everyone
I feel like I definitely see where people are coming from but like he has said many times “for the most part they are just a normal friend group” but he cuts his videos down so short to all their quick jokes or skits or in some cases, stunts or pranks, and with the fast jumps and the fun music it seems like his real life is constantly that crazy and everyone talks that fast. When you watch, say Jason’s vlog, he and everyone else are a lot more down to earth and chill than what it seems like in David’s vlogs and for the most part they all seem like genuine people, I could be wrong of course. But David has done crazy amounts for charity and is almost known at this point for giving out money to people who need it and/or cars. I definitely see where those things are coming from bc in his vlogs it seems so chaotic, but I think they all kinda put on a show when the camera is on and like he has said before, his vlogs are kinda like movie trailers, it’s the most exciting parts without the long and boring middle section.

I used to watch him 2008-2010, and he had offensive characters like shanaynay back then. Not that those skits are excusable, but they really were a product of the time. I saw racist, sexist, etc. skits or scenes of shows like madtv and family guy on cable tv all the time, and it really seemed like only a minority of people cared because shock humor was everywhere and socially accepted overall. I stopped watching youtube for awhile and revisited his channel around 2013 and couldn't believe he was doing blackface and some of the jokes he made. Even with offensive humor being so normalized years prior, he definitely took it beyond even that style of humor which is a feat imo. I think even if he had done those skits when offensive/shock humor was at its height, it wouldn't have been appealing to most people. AND NO ONE WAS SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Not even on websites like tumblr which was majorly into social justice at the time. At least from what I saw/searched. But I didn't hear much about him at all at the time tbh. I think that's the major distinction - he wasn't nearly as popular back then as he was recently, and the people who watched him at the time did so because they enjoyed that "humor" and therefore wouldn't have criticism to give. I think you have to differentiate between defending him in some points vs in all points. I personally find his old videos absolutely horrible and am ashamed to have ever supported him BUT I would still defend him somewhat in the Tati/James drama situation. There is no proof. We know Tati lied/was manipulative in the past so I don't take all of her words as gospel. That being said, his past videos were bad enough to warrant his current loss of subscribers. I just find it problematic when everyone believes in those drama videos. Last time, everyone cancelled James, only to realize after a while that he could defend himself.

A lot of time when I see someone explaining the downfall a person on RUclips, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, etc. I see two types of people 1. The straight up hater. They speak their opinion, throwing a few jokes into their content, and being biased. These are simple people, just doing their thing. I'm not seeing that they are bad people, but sometimes commentary channels will just find someone they don't like, and joke about them. 2. The explainer. They usually look from more than one side of the argument. Some are biased, some aren't, but they are like narrators of the story. Like showing what the creator of the content, the fans, and the haters are all doing. (Similar to Donna) Creators who are 'Canceled' by hate are usually there for a while. They had their moments of glory, moments of hate, and sometimes just nothing. Big creators like Shane had his moment of glory a while ago, and this fame got to their head. The more self esteem you get from fame, the less self control you lose from fame. To be honest, didn't we all expect this to happen?

Reputation means everything on RUclips, the reason Onision was ignored when he accused Shane, was because he ALSO has a history of sexualizing minors and hating on Shane because of envy. Tati was also ignored because of her controversy with James Charles, showing the viewers that she isn't a trustworthy source. Not saying the evidence shown doesn't hold up that Shane is a weirdo, just my thoughts as to why people didn't take the accusations from these people too seriously.

Tati was just a pawn in Jeffree scheme. And I think Shane was also a pawn. Although, Shane has his own pile of dirty laundry to deal with right now and I'm not excusing any of the sick things from his passed, Jeffree manipulated him into this too. Jeffree saw Shane as a money maker. Shane was making make up as a short lived passion, but Jeffree is the one making bank off it. In conclusion, Jeffree star is the epicenter of every drama and scandal involving the beauty community. Whether he starts it, eggs it on, or inserts himself in drama that doesn't even involve him, he is the one causing all of this toxicity. Shane isn't innocent, but he was manipulated too. tati has a big heart and it bit her in the ass, as it does with anyone with a big heart. You get taken advantage of.

Edit: I’ve been thinking about the idea of deplatforming. As an audience, we can’t really decide who gets a platform and who doesn’t. However, we can decide which people we watch. I think overtime he maybe evolved into being this sort of obsessively forced egalitarian type of presence that kind of lulls the people around him into a sense of peace; a lot of individuals have sprung into existence that seem incredibly rational and fair like him, but in actuality are twisted up inside. it's so weird because even people my age who've been watching RUclips for a _long_ time, we knew that Shane had a weird past but a lot of my friends just thought it was looked down upon because it was gross or immature humor and at the time when it was new we were too young to really notice what was happening.

My thoughts: I used to be a HUGE fan of the vlog squad from like 2016-2019 and used to watch them since vine. After a while, I noticed how David’s disregard for his friends safety and the looking glass broke. I’m not surprised they’ve been exposed for this, David’s borderline sociopathic behaviour Is excuses because he posted quick, digestible content with catchy relèvent music. Any young people watching him are drawn in that way, ESPECIALLY with all the current music he uses in his vlogs. His vlogs are reliable and consistent and short; making them more entertaining to his viewers. Additionally, the dependency and belittling his friends put themselves thru for his vlogs was a red flag to me. It’s like there’s s mutual exploitive relationship between them. The friends get used as content and their safety/ health is risked for the vlog, in return they’re gaining a following who wants to know more about David so they sub to his friends. And his friends get rewarded for risking themselves with expensive cars. On their own, the friends without David aren’t desired or interesting enough for them to have the same following as David. They can’t copy his style of vids or they’ll be called out. They’re pawns, very funded pawns. Also, there’s competition between the friends and with themselves on who can be the most outlandish and end up in the vlog, this lead the to do inappropriate things and risk themselves further, that’s how they’re brand has been established. E.g. Zayn is always the drunk one, Korinna is the ‘hoe’, Toddy is a fuckboy etc. Their self value and esteem somewhat relies on the attention they get from the vlog also, with how much they comprise themselves. It’s sad. The only reason they’re getting that attention is because ppl want to get to know them to get closer to David.
I’m not a fan of Trish at ALL, but the second she spoke out against them I knew there more than what she was saying and I believe her. The vlog squad is a relatively cute young guy recording his friends doing increasingly more dangerous , inappropriately and compromising things, editing it down to 4min and 20sec with catching music at the end or the little montage. Once they turn 30+ they’ll look back and see they basically were used, abused and exploited. This mode of media WONT last, it won’t be funny when they’re 40 and Jason is 60. It’s so sad that nothing sustainable will come out of this, it’s only here thought of for the moment. THATS when the looking glass will break for everyone
I feel like I definitely see where people are coming from but like he has said many times “for the most part they are just a normal friend group” but he cuts his videos down so short to all their quick jokes or skits or in some cases, stunts or pranks, and with the fast jumps and the fun music it seems like his real life is constantly that crazy and everyone talks that fast. When you watch, say Jason’s vlog, he and everyone else are a lot more down to earth and chill than what it seems like in David’s vlogs and for the most part they all seem like genuine people, I could be wrong of course. But David has done crazy amounts for charity and is almost known at this point for giving out money to people who need it and/or cars. I definitely see where those things are coming from bc in his vlogs it seems so chaotic, but I think they all kinda put on a show when the camera is on and like he has said before, his vlogs are kinda like movie trailers, it’s the most exciting parts without the long and boring middle section.

I used to watch him 2008-2010, and he had offensive characters like shanaynay back then. Not that those skits are excusable, but they really were a product of the time. I saw racist, sexist, etc. skits or scenes of shows like madtv and family guy on cable tv all the time, and it really seemed like only a minority of people cared because shock humor was everywhere and socially accepted overall.
I stopped watching youtube for awhile and revisited his channel around 2013 and couldn't believe he was doing blackface and some of the jokes he made. Even with offensive humor being so normalized years prior, he definitely took it beyond even that style of humor which is a feat imo. I think even if he had done those skits when offensive/shock humor was at its height, it wouldn't have been appealing to most people. AND NO ONE WAS SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Not even on websites like tumblr which was majorly into social justice at the time. At least from what I saw/searched.
But I didn't hear much about him at all at the time tbh. I think that's the major distinction - he wasn't nearly as popular back then as he was recently, and the people who watched him at the time did so because they enjoyed that "humor" and therefore wouldn't have criticism to give. She then blocked those who questioned her regarding this.
She's also kinda transphobic despite being trans herself by claiming that (paraphrase) those who don't fully transition like her isn't a trans, and I heard she and her husband went to a liberal(?) rally claiming they both was attacked for wearing MAGA hat only to then police report(?) said her husband was the one who picked a fight first.
Oh, she got her career in the first place because she was featured several times in Shane's old video and there was a whisper about her being an alleged J* fans during myspace days. She's at least the fourth least trusted person in the situation.

A lot of time when I see someone explaining the downfall a person on RUclips, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, etc. I see two types of people
1. The straight up hater. They speak their opinion, throwing a few jokes into their content, and being biased. These are simple people, just doing their thing. I'm not seeing that they are bad people, but sometimes commentary channels will just find someone they don't like, and joke about them.
2. The explainer. They usually look from more than one side of the argument. Some are biased, some aren't, but they are like narrators of the story. Like showing what the creator of the content, the fans, and the haters are all doing. (Similar to Donna)
Creators who are 'Canceled' by hate are usually there for a while. They had their moments of glory, moments of hate, and sometimes just nothing. Big creators like Shane had his moment of glory a while ago, and this fame got to their head. The more self esteem you get from fame, the less self control you lose from fame. To be honest, didn't we all expect this to happen?
Personally, I expected this to happen at least 6 years ago, but oh well 🤷♀️ I'm just glad more people are actually seeing the truth now.

a. aren't well known and can't be harmed
b. are very well known and have lots of supporters
