Y'all don't know!! Its tough to be an expert in any field!! But yes most tv is controlled and contrived to look or depict someone as different than the actual reality. I saw a special on him and he really is crazy with the sports knowledge. Y'all might be good but all Y'all Could Not Beat Al Bundy!!!
ESPN used to put on so much more interesting programming than they do now. This is one of my all-time favorites: Stump the Schwab. Even being a life-long sports-fan, I was shocked at how much I didn't know and how much Schwab and other contestants know on this "jeopardy-esque" show...
I was friends and worked with the Schwab as a counselor at a sleep away camp Oxford-Guilford in upstate NY back in the early 80's and myself and our friends knew he was special with this shit and we used to play "Stump the Schwab" for free back than. Howie was amazing back in the day as none of us could stump him. So myself and my buddies take full credit for his success as we gave him all the practice and confidence he needed to become the sports trivia savant he eventually ended up becoming at ESPN...lol...;)
Back when ESPN was fun, they had Karate programs, World Strongest, Texas Hold’em, Pool Championship, Shows like this, around the horn, pti, many others.
RIP Schwab. You can tell that the time Stuart spent talking about Schwab having the ability to lock out the contestant and rereading the question was what was needed by the Schwab to win (nothing done intentionally, just worked out that way). Schwab was asking Stuart to reread the question when he cut him off and started to explain the game situation, and you see Schwab knock the table when he realized he knew the answer.
My stepdad and I used to watch this show all the time! Gosh, Howie Schwab is a flipping legend! Go into glory, Mr. Scott, another legend gone before his time.

On the 1st question of 3000 hits since Aaron in 1970 got it, 7 names added to the 16 names on that list since that airing of the show: Rafael Palmeiro (3,020) - July 15 of that year of the show (under 2 months later) Craig Biggio (3,060) - June 28, 2007 Derek Jeter (3,465) - July 9, 2011 ARod (3,115) - June 19, 2015 Adrian Beltre (3,166) - July 30, 2017 Albert Pujols (3,384) - May 4, 2018 Miguel Cabrera (3,174) - April 23, 2022
On the Senior PGA Champions since 1982, Tom Watson would win it again in 2011. Jay Haas would win it twice (2006, 2008). Mike Reid would win in 2005 (May 29, two days after that episode aired) Denis Watson would win in 2007 Tom Lehman would win in 2010 Roger Chapman would win in 2012 Koki Idoki would win in 2013 Monty would win back to back Senior PGAs in 2013 & 2014 Rocco Mediate would win in 2016 Bernhard Langer would win in 2017 Paul Broadhurst would win in 2018 Ken Tanigawa would win in 2019 No Tourney in 2020 Alex Cejka would win in 2021 Steven Alker would win in 2022 Steve Stricker would win in 2023 13 more Senior PGA Champions since the airing of that show.
On the NL and AL Home Run season leaders, a footnote here: No one has done it since McGwire last did it in 1998. On the 100 sack club, Simeon Rice was at that time the only other active player with over 100 career sacks, he retired in 2007 with 122 Current 100 sack club members are Von Miller with 123.5, Cam Jordan with 117.5, and Justin Houston with 112

How he didn't know that Mark McGwire question is insane. He hit 49 for Oakland the season he won the award and hit 70 for St. Louis but somehow he knew the Mike Hampton question... I would've guessed Russ Ortiz 🤷♂️
I was stunned by that too. He knew all these obscure answers I would've never had a shot at yet I knew the Mark McGwire question and found myself repeatedly saying it as he struggled... 16 years after this aired lmao. He was hitting three pointers all game but missed the layup.
Can we remake this show. This is where I learned most of sports as a kid . RIP Stuart!
I learned by watching actual sports. .. . Schwab is reading from cue cards. . He ain't as smart as the show makes him out to be. I would beat his ass
@@jamedlock83 yes but this show kept me in check with the records and stats I would stomp Schwab too
