xz claire She said that she's experimenting with new sounds. As an artist she's not locked to only sell a certain type of records. You can't blame someone for trying to reach a different audience cause those people that she's able to reach with her new song will listen to her other stuff and many will like what she's about. Her songs don't need to have a deeper meaning to it and you can't say someone is a sellout just by going off of one single.

    • @xzclaire
      @xzclaire 9 лет назад +1

Angel Herrera ? lol it doesn't have to have a deeper meaning, shes playing the game she just wants money and fame otherwise you would stick to your roots and make music that actually shows some form of talent, anyone could make a song like her new single.. i guarantee everyone will forget her new song within like a month whereas a song like this will be stuck in peoples heads for ages! i cba debating about this

im revisiting this in 2024. this album came out the same year I graduated high school. I was 17 and grew up in a private school bubble. This song was the single so of course everyone knew it. but I didn't listen to the rest of her album. in 2011 I heard J Coles mixtape Friday night lights where he sampled the very beautiful Neon Valley Street. I obsessed over that song, but I still didn't listen to the rest of the album. I actually kinda of lost track of Janelle and it was only this year when the YT algorithm recommended an interview of hers on her newest album The Age of Pleasure. Now I am going back in time and listening to all of her albums. I love to see her growth and progression through her life. She is unapologetic, beautiful, talented and drop AF, sexy, and I love seeing this from 2010 and seeing how far she has come. such an inspiration. I will definitely be raising my daughter up on Janelle's music.

King Jay ** Yea. the entertainment world..... ""Hollywood" has removed the gospel of Jesus Christ...... from their entire circle of people... False-hood, Idol worship and lots of folks/Ceo's who have signed over in blood. the Bible lets you know this country will fall with out, morals and sound leadership. Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellers there is safety. proverbs - riches profit not in the day of wrath but righteousness will delivereth from death. Believers have to stay w the word of the Lord. amen the word gives a clear example of what the end x's would come to. ( Bible ) that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, -- Philippians 2:15 ,, $ cannot be worshiped as the Lord Jesus Christ. when that happens lawless-ness and corruption. "" run wild .. Christ will return . ( 1 Timothy 4: Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,
""" the word says it will come a x, when folks will dis regard whats written in scripture. and attempt to gain wisdom apart from the word of God, through other"" false religious books. wanting to be their own..... God. just like Satan when he grew proud and vain. ,, psalms -
Do not gather my soul with sinners,
Nor my life with bloodthirsty men,

This is one of the greatest music videos of all time. It contains EVERYTHING and works on a hundred levels! Songwriting, instrumentals, vocals, choreography, physical performance, cinematography, editing, acting, decor and costume, overt and subtle symbolism, piercing social commentary.... everything, and it's all high art. Everything she does is great, but this was and still is a landmark.

John Lee Not gonna say I hate or even dislike the song, but the part from big boi was pretty frigging bad and really dates the song with references to stuff like macbooks, the dow, and the nasdaq as well as the line "like a thong in an asscrack." Just general bad lyrics can really take you out of the song especially in the context of the album because his lines completely break the fourth wall. I bet the song would be practically perfect if she wrote all his lines lol.

    Lyrics : Whoaaa!
    Another day (adabadee, nigga)
    I take your pain away
Some people talk about ya like they know all about ya
When you get down they doubt ya
And when you tip it on the scene, yeah they talkin' bout it
Cause they can't tip on the scene
They just talk about it, t-t-t-talk bout it
    When you get elevated
They love it or they hate it
You dance up on them haters
Keep getting funky on the scene
    While they jumpin' round ya
They trying to take all of your dreams
    But you can't allow it
Cause baby whether you're high or low
    Whether you're high or low
You gotta tip on the tightrope (tip, tip on it)
T-t-t-tip on the tightrope (tip, tip on it)
Baby, baby, baby, whether you're high or low (high or low)
Baby whether you're high or low (high or low)
You got to tip on the tightrope (tip, tip on it)
Now let me see you do the tightrope (tip, tip on it)
And I'm still tippin' on it
See I'm not walkin' on it
Or tryin to run around it
    This ain't no acrobatics
You either follow or you lead, yeah
    I'm talkin' bout ya
Keep on blaming the machine, yeah
    I'm talkin' bout it
    T-t-t-talkin' bout it
    I can't complain about it
    I gotta keep my balance
And just keep dancin on it
We gettin funky on the scene
    Yeah you know about it
Like a star on the screen
Watch me tip all on it
Then baby whether I'm high or low (high or low)
Baby whether you're high or low (high or low)
You gotta tip on the tightrope (tip, tip on it)
Yeah, tip on the tightrope (tip, tip on it)
    Baby, baby, baby
Whether you're high or low (high or low)
Baby whether you're high or low (high or low)
Tip on the tightrope (tip, tip on it)
Baby let me see you tight rope (tip, tip on it)
And I'm still tippin' on it
    You gotta keep your balance
Or you fall into the gap
    It's a challenge but I manage
Cause I'm cautious with the strap
Do damage to your cabbage that
    A doctor cannot patch
Why you don't want no friction
Like the back of a matchbook
Daddy Fat Sax will fold you
    And your MacBook
    Close shows, shut you down
    Before we go-go backwards
Act up, and whether we high or low
    We gonna get back-up
Like the Dow Jones and NASDAQ
Sorta like a thong in an ass crack
    Come on
I tip on alligators and little rattlesnakers
    But I'm another flavor
    Something like a terminator
    Ain't no equivocating
I fight for what I believe
    Why you talkin' 'bout it
    J-j-just talkin' 'bout it
    Some callin' me a sinner
    Some callin' me a winner
    I'm callin' you to dinner
And you know exactly what I mean
    Yeah I'm talkin bout you
You can rock or you can leave
    Watch me tip without you
N-n-now whether I'm high or low
    (High or low)
    Whether I'm high or low
    (High or low)
I'm gonna tip on the tightrope
    (Tip, tip on it)
    Mmm
    (Tip, tip on it)
    Baby, baby, baby
    Whether I'm high or low
    (High or low)
    High or low
    (High or low)
I got to tip on the tightrope
    (Tip, tip on it)
Now baby tip on the tightrope
    You can't get too high
    (You can't get too high)
I said you can't get too low
    (We can't get too low)
    Cause you get too high
    (You can't get too high)
    No, you'll surely be low
    (No, you'll surely be low)
    1, 2, 3, ho!
    Yeah, yeah
    Now shut up, yeah
Yeah, now put some voodoo on it
Ladies and gentlemen, the funkiest horn section in Metropolis
    Yeah, oh
    We call that classy brass
    Ohh ohh
    Oh!
    Do you mind?
    If I play the ukulele

Many meanings- telling the truth when being famous-how much truth and how much pop? The institutionalization of Blackness "calling us crazy" for being who we are. How we find ways to celebrate ourselves. Also, our using our music and dance to deal with oppression. Surviving that tightrope of having to conform (to the workplace, white controlled society) The prison industrial complex " Ima keep talking about the machine".
