Jamiroquai is actually a very big influence on the modern dance pop and funk genres. The producer Calvin Harris, who has collaborated with an unbelievable amount of current pop artists like Dua Lipa, cited Jamiroquai as the reason he started making music.
they are also a big influence on the hip hop community too, artists such as tyle the creator, anderson paak , sza or even dojo cat cited them as reference :))))
Calvin Harris is genuinely so insanely good its kinda nuts he just gets forgotten about now as someone who just makes the melodies for pop artists. His "Ready for The Weekend" album from 2009 is still easily in my top 3 Electronic House albums of all time. His singing alone on it is absolutely sensational
The song was created because of an crazy experience the band had in Sendai in the middle of winter. They were confused why the streets were empty, and then discovered everyone was underground.
As a Canadian kid who grew up admiring Japanese tech, i wanted one of those Sony MD Players so badly. I'd go to Sears (an old department store) and just look at them on display. they were like $300. In retrospect im glad my mother never got me one, being that MD format didnt get so far.
This is one of the few songs I’ve seen where people in the comments are actually glad it’s being introduced to a new audience. It’s a nice change of pace & I’m glad we’re all here 😊

Yes, this song was many years ahead of its time 😊 and there is a lot more to the words/visual and intention of songs than most people ever realize 😉 sometimes the people who write them are governed to write for a much higher force that they are unaware of. I'm a music teacher in Maine running a summer lessons program. I have my students pick a song to work on over 6 lessons to prepare for a concert. A 12 year old kid came to me with this song. Right now, in his 5th of 6 lessons, I'm having him play and sing along at 85% speed and he's working his butt off. It's amazing to behold. This is such a good tune on so many levels, but to watch this kid accomplish such a hard song in such a short time is next level for me.
this is one of those rare tricks where even knowing how it's done doesn't take away from the magic of it. his movements are so precise yet exaggerated that it perfectly compliments the trickery already there. I miss music videos like these.
So right. The walls move but still cannot see it happening. I just don't understand the couches. If I were in production, I'd use electromagnets to ''detach' the couches when they needed to be moved.
@@slammerw3 There are fairly wide gaps below the walls and in the corners. It'd be easy to have a little hook in that gap that keeps the furniture in place. When it's time for them to move, a person behind the walls unhooks it. In some of the shots, you can see the furniture moving ever so slightly as the walls move, indicating that it's not perfectly adhered up against a wall, which a strong magnetic pull would prevent from happening.
just got back from Zone of Interest, I can now say that this is my favorite music video directed by an Oscar nominated director edit: Oscar WINNING director :)
For anyone wondering how this all actually worked: The original plan was to have the floor move, but the producer had the math done, cost of the floor movement system was around 288,000 dollars. So! they came up with the idea that ended up being used to save cost: The whole room is actually on wheels as the crew behind the video push it around to give the illusion of a moving floor. The furniture also is bolted to the wall until it is time for it to move away from the wall, in which case a crew member quickly unbolts it. Since the camera is attached to a wall you can see small shakes whenever the room starts moving. Bugs and bird were added in post, as well as stage direction marks being edited out. Song was also post editing, he doesn't start speaking until around the 4th word in the song. One final thing: The illusion of the room moving is given away if you have a sharp enough eye to notice during the narrow hallway part, as the others leave the set the walls begin to shake a little. Really interesting how they managed to do all this!
Goat, i figured most of it out but I really thoight the floor was mooving, thats really cool. Means he had to do really precise choreography to move along with the room and not just reflexively like on a treadmill.
This will always be one of the most visually appealing and creative videos made for a popular song. The frame moves most, him within it..not a bit of software in sight...absolutely fabulous
I was wondering how it was done and how he came up with the idea to make the clip, and this comment only concludes, this guy is just a genius, and a very good meme kkkk

Jamiroquai is actually a very big influence on the modern dance pop and funk genres. The producer Calvin Harris, who has collaborated with an unbelievable amount of current pop artists like Dua Lipa, cited Jamiroquai as the reason he started making music.
Not to mention: Carter Pewterschmidt
@@TheMuppetKid carter pewterschmidt inspired jamiroquai

Im literally learning today that its a group not just one guy!!😂😂😂😂
Calvin Harris is genuinely so insanely good its kinda nuts he just gets forgotten about now as someone who just makes the melodies for pop artists. His "Ready for The Weekend" album from 2009 is still easily in my top 3 Electronic House albums of all time. His singing alone on it is absolutely sensational
In 1996 we all thought he was crazy. But now it's a reality. Virtual Insanity is real Folks.

The song was created because of an crazy experience the band had in Sendai in the middle of winter. They were confused why the streets were empty, and then discovered everyone was underground.

Yes, this song was many years ahead of its time 😊 and there is a lot more to the words/visual and intention of songs than most people ever realize 😉 sometimes the people who write them are governed to write for a much higher force that they are unaware of. The difference is merely knowing if the force and intent behind all music is of good origin. I like to imagine that the holocaust is happening just out of frame in this video too
mine is star guitar by the chemical brothers, directed by michel gondry
For anyone wondering how this all actually worked:
The original plan was to have the floor move, but the producer had the math done, cost of the floor movement system was around 288,000 dollars.
So! they came up with the idea that ended up being used to save cost:
The whole room is actually on wheels as the crew behind the video push it around to give the illusion of a moving floor.
Wow! Where did you get all this valuable info. (I need a video to watch instead of studying algebra)
@titicad8938 Hey it should be on Jamiroquai's youtube channel actually, I could be wrong though lol. God bless!!
The part everyone leaves out in the explanation is that the camera is connected to the moving walls, so it move with them.
Goat, i figured most of it out but I really thoight the floor was mooving, thats really cool. Means he had to do really precise choreography to move along with the room and not just reflexively like on a treadmill.
Also it was 280,000 pounds since this was in the UK which is a small correction but still nice to know
This will always be one of the most visually appealing and creative videos made for a popular song.
