This song is so interesting because it seems like everyone likes it, when it’s a song (to my understanding) about staying in a relationship without feeling because you’re scared to be alone.
I intepret it as an FWB relationship but one of them caught feelings while the other half felt like it's better for them to just have sex and is only here for it, nothing more. no attachments. “we get together, oh, we get together, but seperate's always better when there's feelings involved” and “don't want to meet your daddy, just want you in my caddy” let's not forget about “don't want to meet your momma, just wanna make you cumma” this song is depressing, honestly.

at this point they didn't break up, they both had a different art style and each one got their own side to the album. One side was Andre 3000 and the other half was Big Boi. Plus Andre 3000 went and did a little acting as Big Boi put it. They were into different things musically and still made it work for this album. I think they did eventually break up years later after Idlewild (2006 ish).

I wonder if people felt the same vibe of nostalgia when this song came out like now…it just gives of that nostalgic feeling even without particularly evoking memories
it did. I heard it in passing on the radio in passing when it came out and it gave me the weirdest nostalgic feeling for something I hadn't actually experienced. my dad said the same thing and he was born in the 50s. there's something really interesting about this song. edit: "in passing on the radio in passing" 🙃
I'm french and grew up in france. When this song came out, I was rather young, but my older sister would play it often. I couldn't understand the lyrics at all, but even then just by the instrumental, this song somehow always made me sort of sad, it has a weird melancholy aspect that tugs at my heartstrings.
that’s such an interesting perspective bc it seems at first to be a happy song based on the catchy music but the words are usually overlooked and you could tell even from the “happy” music
This video is really a high water mark for both video and music. I've been to whole cities that didn't have this much life in them. Twenty years ago I had a one hour per week radio show in mountainous, small town, northern Thailand. It was called English by Songs. Most of my song list was chosen for a certain combination of musical quality, clarity of the English, and a story that was easy to follow. I played Ray Charles' Unchain my Heart; I played Lulu's To Sir With Love. One week I told my listeners that I had a special treat for them. I just said, this is what great American music sounds like...I told them not to worry if they couldn't follow the story, just see what it feels like. And I played this. I had that show for about a year, and it was funny. At first, people didn't admit that they listened. After about six months, people started to admit that "at first, I didn't like the music that you played. But now, I like it." This is Asia, don't forget. Most of the locals had to be taught how to swing.

This song is so interesting because it seems like everyone likes it, when it’s a song (to my understanding) about staying in a relationship without feeling because you’re scared to be alone.
Maybe it is about that. Have a great day.
Ok
It is that's the funny part . He said in the song mid song ,"ya dont hear me tho ya just wanna dance "lmfao
Listen to Edens cover of it, it shows the true side of the song. Basically the song is very much a meta commentary about itself.
I intepret it as an FWB relationship but one of them caught feelings while the other half felt like it's better for them to just have sex and is only here for it, nothing more. no attachments.
“we get together,
oh, we get together,
but seperate's always better
when there's feelings involved”
and
“don't want to meet your daddy,
just want you in my caddy”
let's not forget about
“don't want to meet your momma,
just wanna make you cumma”
this song is depressing, honestly.
Just going through on another one of those nostalgia spree's...

English is tough! You'll get there soon.
at this point they didn't break up, they both had a different art style and each one got their own side to the album. One side was Andre 3000 and the other half was Big Boi. Plus Andre 3000 went and did a little acting as Big Boi put it. They were into different things musically and still made it work for this album. I think they did eventually break up years later after Idlewild (2006 ish).

Entregando o corpo
Vendendo a alma e corrompendo o espírito
