I've been having a lot of ppl taking my words the wrong way lately.. so that's why I was like, I meant well. Babylonthegreat I totally agree tho.. I Lov Janelle's music, I hope she continues her singing career. She has a bit of old school in her
My favorite part of the entire song is at 2:41, the melody on the lines "Baby talking on the side/As the world spins around" is just so unbelievably excellent. I'm a huge sucker for using the leading tone in the melody of a minor key song. When she hits "as the world spins around" it gives me chills. Perfectly contours the bVI - V motion. Just unreal what a good songwriter she is.
Janelle Monae's spirit is in alignment with the Universe, her voice is like the birds singing to God in the morning. She is grateful, humble and compassionate, her music is a testament, naturally gifted, she loves her creator. She is definitely a motivator and a shining STAR. Enjoy and buy her music.
Makes me want to say "to heck with my social anxiety " and go out and dance the night away 😂😂🙌🏾😌 and go see hidden figures afterwards . Definitely one of my artist
Joy Mechell It’s interesting I believe we’re all developing social anxiety in particular these last few years. Something in the air that is making us feel terrified of each other somehow.
I teared up!!! I love the HBCU pride!! All the beautiful brown folks having fun together! And it's taken so long to get this video out!! She looks so happy and I love it so much. She is truly an icon!
This will forever be the song of my summer holidays (last year), cruising around the Greek islands, enjoying the sun and the sea together with my love. This year the pandemic hit and my life fell to pieces in all sorts of ways, but I still come here regularly to jam to this great song and awesome artist and remember the times when life used to be different, good (even though back then I didn't really understood how good it was)... Rock on, Janelle!
This video looks like it was so much fun and Janelle is gorgeous!!! But I'm not sure why anyone has a problem with the people in the video. It's representing an HBCU which is majority Black students. So why are people bothered? Damn...everyone hates us but get mad when they not included in our fun..BYE!! 😔

KolorlesssoulThis Video looks far from Lit. Do you not see the "Skull in Bones" at 1:13 where the Record is playing? You can clearly see her throwing up the satanic "666" hand gesture in her Icon, this Generation is pathetic.......
No matter how many times I listen to this I still get lifted by the energy, chills of wonder and appreciation running through me. What a gift to the world!
@@Sjimbwow sometimes it really seems like Pharrell Williams is underrated though. The community and the industry don't give him as much flowers as he deserves. We jump to praise the people hoping on every trend but he is part of the ones that set the trends and stays behind the curtain. To an extent I think that's why he's managed to stay relevant and creative. Plus he's killer handsome and ages like fine wine 👌🏾 ( no homo though but damn he looks good for any age, my whole family and my girlfriend have a crush on him 😂😂)
Pharrell is underrated? I say he is overrated. Don't get me wrong, Iike several of his tracks, but he is hardly a substance over style "artist." And, his misogynistic and creepy Harvey Weinstein love letter called Blurred Lines...... yeah...... anyone that willingly, casually makes a dance hall track for date rapists is a litttttttttttle questionable as a human being to me. It would be like me making a KKK love letter and then acting like I had no idea what I had done. Pharrell is a performer, not an artist - and he has some Bill Cosby criminality towards women in him. No means no.
I want SO bad to be angry she’s FINALLY getting the respect she’s deserved for so long… & half the folks mad about her showing her body. @@Excursial Her music has always clearly been intended for adults; I don't understand what the problem is. Artists are not obligated to be family friendly. If parents don't want their kids seeing music videos like that, then they need to put parental controls on their kid's devices or something, but it's not the artist's problem. You can look up videos of people being decapitated on RUclips, I really don't think some women in swimsuits is going to scar anyone lol.
Cant figure out what I like most about this girl - the face, the hair, the body, skin tone, singing... help me out here (LOL). She deserves more attention though.
Omg I love you so much. I know all of your songs & listen to them everyday. Dont ever stop making music, you're heaven sent to bless others with your wonderful gift.
Why do people feel the need to compare Janelle with Nicki. Why do people always make it a competition or comparison between two women. They're both amazing women, why can't we just love them both.
+34RiverStone thats what im saying its annoying because nicki is a rapper and janelle is a singer so you can't really compare the too but people love tearing down another artist to lift up their favorite
+34RiverStone It's not that we can't love both of them, but when someone who speaks about things that really don't matter/relate to normal people is lifted higher so they can be known/heard, compared to someone who actually speaks the truth and speaks about matters that need to be discussed, It raises a new topic on how the society these days are really....stupid.
+Alexia Colette Exactly. Not to mention male singers are in constant competition as well. Our society picks and chooses its battles. She just like many black singers with real messages are pushed to the side. And it's not only because of the media agenda but because people just don't want to hear a truth that doesn't pertain to them. Why would you pay more to see Nicki when you can not only get a show but a message from Monea? People are ridiculous these days. I wonder if they know popular musicians have dumbed down music to get more sells and it's actually worker. It's been shown that music with meaningless lyrics sell more.
Shout out to janelle for promoting black excellence all through out the video. She paid homage to black sororities and fraternities. Then she had an all black high school band in the video. South Atlanta High School is black high school in Atlanta. Whoop she did that
I LOVE the early 2000s Contemporary R&B and Neo-Soul vibes the this track gives off. With a little added tinge of Dungeon Family funk. Others try to revisit/emulate that sound, but fail to grab and HOLD your attention, but THIS, I'm all ears :) Love it.
Janelle Monae is the prettiest black woman, embracing her natural hair. If more younger kids, no matter what race, saw her, they'd feel more confident. Asians wouldn't feel that they needed to bleach their skin to be pretty, frizzy-curly haired kids wouldn't feel like they needed to straighten their hair to be beautiful, and Latinos would be comfortable with having indigenous brown roots, instead of Spaniard/Portuguese.
Malia M. Nia W I'm surprised you ladies didn't get swept up by that GM commercial for the Cruze that used her song "Tight Rope". It played so much that people got curious and couldn't help themselves. I remember when my boss was like "never heard of her". All I said was "do you know that Cruze commercial? That's her". He couldn't stop playing Tight Rope after that before he moved to her other stuff.

+Julia White I'm sorry I'm so late....didn't know you replied. I agree. mainstream media just wants us to listen to ignorance and low vibration music. smh
If you are bothered that there aren't a lot of white people in this music video... well, tough luck! Now you know how WE feel, never being represented well in YOUR media. Janelle Monáe is INCREDIBLE and makes us feel proud and represented in the light that we deserve, and if you self-centered attention-hungry racists have a problem with that, get over it real quick. Go watch someone else's video with what you're looking for (it's easy to find one) instead of spewing your hatred here, on a fun, energetic, and classy video of a beautiful black woman embracing our culture proudly and gorgeously, unlike MOST mainstream artists.
Keith Japp She's making a music video to show the pride and beauty in our race. Why don't you complain when people like Iggy Azalea and Taylor Swift do the same thing? Why do people only call it a problem when Janelle does it? She's not even excluding white people on purpose (even though the white media excludes black people on purpose); it's a music video showcasing a fictional black sorority with pride and beauty. Plus, don't blame ME for the problem; I only made this comment because people were pissed off that Janelle only has a few white people in the video. I wasn't the one to bring it up; a few WHITE people were the first to bring it up. I didn't even notice it until they angrily brought it up and called Janelle racist for it. LOL, you're mad at the wrong kind of person. Don't complain on MY comment if it's a problem to you; complain on the comments of people calling Janelle racist for not having white people in her video.
Keith Japp The problem with your comment is that youre victimizing yourself.. why do all white people do that? Make it about themselves.. I dont get it. There will never be true equality between white and black people. oh and heads up. Black people cant be racist....
MrFBluntz No. Black sociologist chiming in here: when we're talking about racism it gets really technical. We have break it into two prejudice and discrimination. Prejudice is basically an attitude, and black people and other races can be most definitely prejudiced. One thing black people and other races cannot be is discriminatory because that refers to having the power and access to deny a people resources and avenues for advancements in life which is what you SHOULD be referring to about whites and this concept of racism because that's where the privilege and shaping of stereotypes and media imagery toward other ethnicities come into play here--it comes from the group in power which are white people. Back to the victimization, that's actually a pretty complex answer. Most white people today don't want to acknowledge that they hold the privilege in this society because it villianizes them and we--I'm talking about all of us--all need something to villianize to make us validate our existence. It's not right to villainize a person that hasn't done anything wrong, we accept this idea. So when we get into their history (white people) of taking a race, dehumanizing them and building this entire system where they will be treated as a second class or less opposed to the people who started this, that's about one of the worst things you ever do in life. That's why the Jews regarded Hitler as The Devil incarnate and this is why Germans, who mostly blindly followed him because they were so financially desperate would rather not talk about him. Coming back to America, here, in present day, white people want to think that ok since slavery is gone all that other stuff like systemic domination via stereotyping and granting them privilege is too but that is clearly not the case. Not the case at all. I have been studying this, in addition to history and people of history and societies for over 5 years now and I'll probably spend the rest of my life trying to get down to this but the bottom line is, what seems like a simple mystery to you really isn't so when you start to investigate it. I could write a series set of books about this and the answer wouldn't satisfy most. All you can do is know and understand the basics. RUclips isn't the place to type all that out.
maddywoo13 Lol you may not of seen his reply but he was most definitely victimizing himself... Im glad you agree with me that Black people cant be racist...
Good to see my people representing themselves positively....UNITY.....all Shades.....having a good time in peace. Way to do it my Sisters and Brothers...... and let me just say.....this video just convinced me that they should do a new modern day version of "A Different World".......come on Netflix....let's hook it up!
This video just makes you feel good! Everybody partying, having a great time, and just show love with great music and dancing. Janelle brought F-I-R-E with song. Love it! Good workout song too!
MS. ILBB Stepping has been mainstream, there was a 2007 hollywood movie, "Stomp The Yard", about stepping competitions at a fictional HBU. It starred Chris Brown and Columbus Short. Is that mainstream enough?
This woman is so underrated it's nearly painful. Catchy songs with a great voice. I enjoyed her album more than Beyonce's. Don't get me wrong it was a really good album but Janelle just did more for me.
She is indeed a bit underrated.. Although 900K views in just 5 days is not bad, Katy Perry gets 10x the views on her new video released the same day.. That's not because Kety Perry makes better music, that's just the power of the musicindustry and mainstream media.. Janelle Monáe does not have such a huge marketingmachine behind her, she is not played everywhere and as a result not as known.. But she is a whole different "product" anyway, probably a bit to complicated to become real big in the mainstream..
inflatable2 I don't think it's complicated at all. You're right Katy Perry does get WAY more views, So does, Niki Minaj, Lady Gaga, etc.Why is that though? I PERSONALLY think it's because of the large amount of sex appeal that those other artist put in their videos. Don't get me wrong Janelle is a VERY sexy/ attractive woman but while other people put sex appeal at the forefront of their vids JM lets her talent speak for itself and that's why I also feel she is underrated as well.
Writer B Besides that, to go into maybe a bit more touchy thing about her.. She still seems to mainly appeal to a black crowd, and then in particular females, especially in the USA.. I mean, just look at who is mainly responding to this video again.. That offcourse is not really a surprise looking at her background, the group she is in and the (political) messages she puts out.. To me as a white male from Europe it's not really an issue, I'm still a big fan of her because of who she is and what she does no matter if she is black, white, yellow or whatever and talks a lot about female empowerment.. Although sometimes it does make me feel a bit like I do not really belong as a fan, the exact same sentiment I think is also holding back the mainstream media from promoting her in a bigger way aswell.. Although she already has appeared in plenty of mainstream media it still seems like the black (female) community is claiming her in a big way.. But like I said, I do not really care, I bought all her albums and I promote and adore her.. Please excuse my bad English (if so), not a native speaker..
Style evolution, yet regressing back to the style of The Audition. Cameos by some of the coolest current artists. The neophyte presentation in the middle of a house party. Stepping by the bruhs. Excuse me while I faint. Modern, futuristic, and past WONDAfully weaved. And that marching band. And the cameos by Kimbra, T-Boz, Fatima Robinson, TI... I looove this.
I dedicate this song in loving memory of my big sister Francine Teresa Wilson (Cookie) as her electric energy fueled her dancing that she shared with all who had the pleasure to watch and even more so to dance with. She will always be a “Electric Lady”
Janelle Monáe truly has her own, individual style that's..wow..and when I listen to her it's like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill collabed in a studio one fateful night and Janelle was the final product. 🤩
Janelle continues to evolve as an artist and a strong, positive, normal person, while struggling in an abnormal, commercial world. Do it your way J. Monae!! We are proud of you. Peace and creativity; Annalope out...
She's a independent artist so she owns her brand unlike other artist, plus the Diddy co-sign helped get her movement out there to the mainstream. Indie artist don't usually be getting this much visibility/endorsements ect in the mainstream like that. Every cent she's making off her shows and her business dealings goes right back to her Wondaland Art Society. So don't feel too bad about the "struggling in a commercial world" thing... she's cleaning up nice :) Hell... she just performed for The First Lady.
She started her career with a real personality and genuine style with her first LP "The Archandroid" but now, with that kind of songs, she seems to have stepped in the common pop, from my opinion... but she is still very talented as hell. Sorry for my poor english, I'm French^^.
I love this song and everything else by Janelle. This video and song gives you a look into the window of what it's like to attend an (HCBU). I was in the band at Grambling State University and a member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Kappa Alpha Psi. I'm sure this hit will be a Black College Band and Greek favorite among the SWAC & MEAC schools this Fall. Keep putting out those hits Janelle!!!!! I love you and your music!!!!

I'm watching it at work, going OFF!!! I about had to step away from the desk for a second.
Xenite Insane, isn't it?
Erkyah Badu, too. Everyone but Solange : (
kavelle fields i dont think that was Badu.....it was Fatima Robinson, the choreographer

She reminds me of Lauren Hill in this video. Janelle is amazing!
Dude, I said she reminded me of Lauren cause she gave me a flashback went the rap came on. I wasn't comparing the two. Babylonthegreat ppl take things to the head on here, I meant well wen I said that.
I've been having a lot of ppl taking my words the wrong way lately.. so that's why I was like, I meant well. Babylonthegreat I totally agree tho.. I Lov Janelle's music, I hope she continues her singing career. She has a bit of old school in her
Yeah I totally agree
Me too
***** is absolutely agree with you that is why I love her music and vibe
Okay, call me a dichotomy slave, but seeing them take a pic with a watch and then listen to an 8-track made me giggle with insane levels of happiness.
Haha! Same!!
Same.
IKRRR
ME TOO!
Janelle Monae is the finest girl in the music industry today
Yes I totally agree.
Tru dat
+Michael Covington gass
Dare I say, she's the finest artist in the music industry today. PERIOD.
Michael Covington
cuckold white boy
Just saw in the movie hidden figures she did an awesome job...
Mocha Leeshus Moonlight too
Janelle Monae IS Black excellence! So is the entire Wondaland Art Society
This song brings such a huge smile to my face. I love Janelle’s positive energy!
Right?🎉😂😅❤❤❤❤❤❤
Janelle Monae's spirit is in alignment with the Universe, her voice is like the birds singing to God in the morning.
Joy Mechell
It’s interesting I believe we’re all developing social anxiety in particular these last few years. Something in the air that is making us feel terrified of each other somehow.
2020 now and you did and still can✌🖤💋🎊
I watched literally a thousand times.lol. I love her in the movie'Harrier' also 🖤
Same, but sadly my social anxiety pops up out of nowhere
Took my sentiments and personal experiences straight out of my mind!
Listen LISTEN!!!! If y'all didn't know she is so EVERYTHING!!!!
Awesome young lady!
True
YAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
I've always admired Janelle. I love the way she moves, she has mad skills, now she's hitting the big screen She is a very talented young lady. 👍👍
Beautiful, talented and ridiculously underrated. I hope there's a new album soon.
What do you think of the new album?
Briana Kelley the worst kind of cliff hanger
@@michaelnestell6936 thank goodness I'm not the only one that was left unsatisfied. I NEED MORE JANELLE MONAE MUSIC!!!
The album's damn good though. Best pop album this year for sure
Zac S I saw her at ACL (Austin city limits) and her performance was fantastic! If you can you should try to see her next time she goes on tour.
I needed Solange in this video since that’s her vocals on the background 😩😩😩😩
so you telling me that Solange ain’t even in the damn video bro…. 😑😒
Yes! I thought this sounded like Solange! And the Hadley Street Dreams. I wish Solange would have done this song.
This woman is so talented!
If this was a real college party, I would've had to have been there. Looked lit. Especially when she started rapping 😂
Exactly doe
KolorlesssoulThis Video looks far from Lit. Do you not see the "Skull in Bones" at 1:13 where the Record is playing? She is clearly a illuminati puppet aka False Prophet representing the Dark Age aka Last Days. This Video is so Dark and Basic and has no LIFE in it and this song has no real SOUL to it. You can clearly see her throwing up the satanic "666" hand gesture in her Icon, this Generation is pathetic.......
Yung Jayy lol stfu dude
Adriana McCullum
Kolorlesssoul Yeah and not all the drunk shit that goes on now with all the WOOOOOOOs to try to convince themselves they are having fun
I'm proud to be a natural, intelligent and beautiful African American female. I absolutely love my culture.
No matter how many times I listen to this I still get lifted by the energy, chills of wonder and appreciation running through me. What a gift to the world!
She so damn beautiful all around its crazy!
Damn, this has a real late 90's feel to it.
i know its awesome !😊😊😊
yess aliyah zhane tlc
EleKtriKm4n absolutely!!! SWV also!
70s too
I'm in love with the hair!!!😍😍😍 so beautiful so natural
Right? :)
So I'm hearing this song today for the first time. Unbelievable.
Janelle QUEENIN SO HARD OUT HERE.
Electric ladies, lets get in formation.
+PRC NH #blackgirlmagic
When she was talking to her "momma" she sounded a lot like rasheeda from love and hip hop atl. I love this video! ♥
YES SHE DID!!! 😂😂😂
lol. No need for quotations. That was her actual momma!
Analog B wow I didn't know that! Cool! 😊
I thought so too. And she kinda looks like her too!
I just said the same thing. She kinda favors her in that scene, too!
She tore it up at AfroPunk this year!!!
Incredible!
Draggline 77 Janko Nilovic is Afro Punk. this lady is a fraud
What? Where is afro punk held? I need to go
Wow! This song is aging so well. It's still a JAM!
This sounds so much like 90's R&B. LOVE it. And she is so beautiful.
Janelle Monae is like the female Pharrell Williams, she's absolutely underrated yet creative, stylish, and fun
Pharrel is not underrated and does not come close to Janelle's creativity. But yea he's stylish and fun for sure.
Or she's just herself
N miguel
Don't get me wrong, Iike several of his tracks, but he is hardly a substance over style "artist."
And, his misogynistic and creepy Harvey Weinstein love letter called Blurred Lines...... yeah...... anyone that willingly, casually makes a dance hall track for date rapists is a litttttttttttle questionable as a human being to me.
It would be like me making a KKK love letter and then acting like I had no idea what I had done.
Pharrell is a performer, not an artist - and he has some Bill Cosby criminality towards women in him.
No means no.
I'm mad I wasn't invited to this beautiful party!😂
Right I'm feeling really tough rn
I'm wondering if the wine I drank is making me feel this video on another level. 😂😂
I want SO bad to be angry she’s FINALLY getting the respect she’s deserved for so long… & half the folks mad about her showing her body. She is embracing & loving herself as she evolves and we were ALL blessed to be able to watch this incredible transformation from a power house to HBIC vibes and ❤ u JM ✨✨✨✨✨✨🙌
Showing her body / By that u mean women butts and t!ts then yes she showing her body to possibly some young people I don’t think u understand

Tell em again!! ❤
Cant figure out what I like most about this girl - the face, the hair, the body, skin tone, singing... help me out here (LOL).
She deserves more attention though.
MrFreshography All of the above? :-)
So classy and fun ughh janelle you done the music business so good ! . And that's all her hair!!!
Her hair is amazing!
Her hair is my spirit animal

Omg I love you so much. I know all of your songs & listen to them everyday.
Dont ever stop making music, you're heaven sent to bless others with your wonderful gift.
Raven Walton oh wow thanks my love!!! :) I promise i'll never stop, working and grinding even in silence
Raven Walton Thanks for your comment. Because thanks to you, i've discovered an Artist. I mean, someone who produces Art. Love from France.
Look at her now ♥️
This song should have been huge the message was so positive and the song was catchy af...still listening in 2019
Same here!
this was awesome loved the positive reference to Black culture of 80s and 90s within the instrumentals just beautifully down !😂😊😊😊
Why do people feel the need to compare Janelle with Nicki. Why do people always make it a competition or comparison between two women. They're both amazing women, why can't we just love them both.
+34RiverStone thats what im saying its annoying because nicki is a rapper and janelle is a singer so you can't really compare the too but people love tearing down another artist to lift up their favorite
frz
Living For Tony & Kerry Olitz Scandal yes
Shout out to janelle for promoting black excellence all through out the video. She paid homage to black sororities and fraternities. Then she had an all black high school band in the video. South Atlanta High School is black high school in Atlanta. Whoop she did that
Okay but can we talk about the absolute STYLE this video oozes.
I'm 25 seconds into the video and I had to stop it just to state that She is absolutely, just electrifyingly B E A U T I F U L. Such a Q.U.E.E.N.!!!!
This song always makes me want to go shopping lol It has that clothing store music feel that has you grooving while going through racks lol
Lol it's been playing at lane bryant for months
they play this multiple times a day at Charlotte Russe
Even if it was only a couple seconds, I'm glad my favorite song got some screen time at the beginning.
#ItsCode
Man!! I love that song too!! The bad is too sick on that song!
Janelle Monae is the definition of black girl magic. I just love her so much!
Why is this woman not a bigger star????>?>?>
+Name much agreed, her and Elle Varner are so talented but don't get the respect they deserve because they don't have all their body out.
+MrMountain123 She didn't sell out. She stayed true to herself and her music style.
I know 🕴
hey
she is big. Just ain't Huge
I think this is still my fave of hers
Same.. tightrope is a close one
Holy shit she's GOOD! I'm ashamed I haven't heard of her til I seen Jidenna's interview! I'm definitely a new Janelle fan. Love her music!
Malia M. I just said the same thing! Never heard this song! Just heard Yoga, Classic Man.....sheesh....i've been out of touch with the world!
I dont have cable so...... lol. But I did hear Tight Rope on something else....can't remember what.... and I downloaded it. That's my song I listen to to boost my mood. Just hadn't heard any of her other songs really. eWorkx
+Nia W I don't know why this song doesn't get air time, smh
+Julia White I'm sorry I'm so late....didn't know you replied. I agree. mainstream media just wants us to listen to ignorance and low vibration music. smh
DIGGING THIS
OMG, KIMBRA, MONICA, ESPERENZA!!!!!! YASSSS!!!! This MV Slays LOL.
i feel so empowered watching this ugh.
SO grateful for Janelle, her creativity, persistence, energy, strength, & authenticity.
Go watch someone else's video with what you're looking for (it's easy to find one) instead of spewing your hatred here, on a fun, energetic, and classy video of a beautiful black woman embracing our culture proudly and gorgeously, unlike MOST mainstream artists.
.
RUclips isn't the place to type all that out.
maddywoo13
Lol you may not of seen his reply but he was most definitely victimizing himself...
OMG this Video was so fun from beginning to end that I kept checking the time worried that it would be over soon! I love it!!! OMG!!
This video just makes you feel good! Everybody partying, having a great time, and just show love with great music and dancing. Janelle brought F-I-R-E with song. Love it! Good workout song too!
Theres so much class in this ideo
I LOVE that they're steppin. Work it out Janelle!
MS. ILBB lol as if stepping is exclusive to fraternities and soroties. Bye Felicia.
MS. ILBB it's kinda too late for that. check out Rick Owens' spring fashion show during last year's Paris fashion week.
MS. ILBB Stepping has been mainstream, there was a 2007 hollywood movie, "Stomp The Yard", about stepping competitions at a fictional HBU. It starred Chris Brown and Columbus Short. Is that mainstream enough?
Miss Monáe you are amazing. please never stop doing this.
Janelle Monáe is such a queen and in my opinion an extremely underrated artist
Please excuse my bad English (if so), not a native speaker..
inflatable2
Hmmmm. Not something I thought about, but you raise a valid point. And it's cool your English is better than some Americans. LOL!
maybe if people actually bought the damn album lol
Style evolution, yet regressing back to the style of The Audition.
Cameos by some of the coolest current artists.
The neophyte presentation in the middle of a house party.
Stepping by the bruhs.

Didn't know she did a video for this song. Dope!
Yep! She released the video a few days ago. Paris Butterfield
Janelle's watch is rather cool.
This is so 90's!! I wish R&B today would go back to this!! :-) I love this song!
This song is so infectious and fantastically funky. I LOOOVE it. She is so underatted.
Omg this made me feel so good!!! Love her so much.
Ahhh am I the only person who wished I could be a part of the making of this music vid? It's beautiful! Absolutely love Janelle
Put you in the mind of Ms.Hill. Love Janelle Monae!
I love how sapphic these lyrics are
I dedicate this song in loving memory of my big sister Francine Teresa Wilson (Cookie) as her electric energy fueled her dancing that she shared with all who had the pleasure to watch and even more so to dance with. She will always be a “Electric Lady”
This is the most visually stimulating video I have seen in some time. Quite simply, the whole concept is Beautiful. Janelle, WOW!
Love this intelligent, talented Lady, love the video, love the vibe! Keep it coming Janelle 💕
Janelle Monáe truly has her own, individual style that's..wow..and when I listen to her it's like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill collabed in a studio one fateful night and Janelle was the final product. 🤩
Janelle might be my favorite person in the world; honestly, look at this ridiculous amount of talent. She is too adorable I love her

She rocks ! Congrats to Janelle for being a real music artist in the 2010's. I hope she will electrify more and more people.
Janelle is a true "renaissance woman" the absolute best talent out there.
HOW AM I A YEAR LATE WITH THIS SONG! I need to stop sleepin' on her...

Hey, where's Solange? Why isn't she featured in this video? On the album, she's apparently singing in the song too.
I was thinking that too....on the album the song is listed as ft. Solange....that would have been cool to see her in the video
