How do you even know he's right about the product? They are saying that they process green tea extrac choleve to the point that it's amplified, which ultimately reduces your fat intake. Since fat has more calories than other macronutrients, they are actually right that it can help you lose weight. What's bothering me is that if it was a 14 year old highschool girl that was pitching this, Mark wouldn't be so brutal.

Halfway in: “We are not claiming you will lose weight."
Their point is that it can help you lose weight but cant guarantee it. If you eat 4,000 calories losing just 100 wont result in weight loss.
Its just saying its a great way to be able to put on less calories and still eating something good . When you eat a salad its going to have less calories but it doesn’t necessarily mean youre going to lose weight
Its a problem if a shark nails them for every single word.. sometimes you mean in literally and sometimes not. Everyone understands that but some sharks just want to play hard.
This old man is out here trying to sell candy bars when should be running for office, I'm sure people will vote him in. lol
How hard is it to figure out that they mean it can help you lose weight but there is no guarantee??? They are not claiming you will lose weight that would be making a guarantee come on this is just common sense, if you lose 100 calories but you eat 5000 there is no way you will lose weight hence they say it's a great way TO and not that you WILL.
I love the way Robert expresses about how he feels to Mark . Very respectful, and mature.
Robert is probably the best shark and dragon on that. Always respectful and very professional with his behavior and he doesnt always cut people while they are talking unlike Mark whoconstantly wants to be the conductor of the tank.

Whether the product was legit or not, the older guy showed a degree of irritability that would make the sharks not want to work with him anyway. Nobody wants to deal with a ticking time bomb.
He at least had studies conducted by universities to validate some of what he was saying. Mark Cuban looked way more irritated as soon as he heard their claims. I don't like that he just immediately shot down and discredited everything, to Robert's point.

These pitches are on average 1 hour long and edited to be within 10 minutes I can only imagine how much pain the younger dude went through

For everyone attacking Mark, just remember these pitches are actually much longer. They edit the length way down for TV. Yeah, he can seem arrogant, but we're not seeing the whole exchange. We're just seeing the parts of it that the producers decided made the best TV (i.e. the most dramatic moments).
Maybe he has ADHD that's why he keeps interrupting others when he has something important to say. and he did, he wanted to call them out on their bs.

That's important. Bc Mark is annoyed that the other 4 sharks are wasting time, but to us it seemed like 60 seconds. If it was actually 15minutes on what's clearly a scam, that's certainly annoying and not worth his time.
I agree with you on the part where you said "Yeah, he can be arrogant". The rest are just excuses. If you don't like it, just don't invest. If you find a flaw with it, mention it but don't disrespect the people, it can easily be traumatic for them.
Mark can go ham for no reason sometimes, but these guys set themselves up to fail with their marketing and pitch.

Caffeine is in green tea, but if you take it out of green tea then its still caffeine, not "green tea extract". However it was derived from the tea. The poison in Eucalyptus plants isn't its "extract" but it is derived from it.
Green tea extract is the entire solid mass that you retain after losing the liquids. Which is NOT the same as deriving a single molecule from green tea. D*mba$$

Im a biochemistry major and ive done a research project in uni a few years ago about the effects of tea, coffee and other natrual components. I think i know what is the molecule they are talking about and from my knowledge about similar experiments with it, it lowers the fat ratios that are absorbed by the body. It doesnt make u lose weight rather u gain less weight by eating it sounds like the same thing but its not.

I like how the sharks express themselves, once money is literally a non-factor in your life you’re no longer holding back on what you want to say to anybody so the real person comes out.
Their biggest mistake is literally putting "Lose Weight" upfront but then they said they're not saying you're going to lose weight. I mean I kind of get what they're trying to say, but they presented it so poorly. Ok, it's not a guarantee that you'll lose weight, but it might help. Right? That's exactly what other supplements in this same category claim. That's what a lot of drinks claim. So at the end of the day, why invest in this start up when there are literally a bunch of these products already out there in the market that doesn't exactly "work.?" They're not offering anything new.
My answer: nothing in life is guaranteed. It's a weight loss aid. A car helps you get from A to B, but it won't take you there unless you take the wheel and operate the pedals

And I just looked them up and they're out of business which brings me to my other point: the market is saturated with these kinds of products already.
@Hutch Jordan there have been businesses that get trashed on this show, and companies that don't secure deals that went on and still managed to go forward.
Their business failed because apparently the "science" they were referring to here wasn't exactly concrete. So their main claim as to why their product is different isn't true, which makes it just another product that supposedly aids in weight loss, which the market already has a lot of. Cubes can be a dick sometimes, I agree, but this product went out of business not because of what he said.
Who said they had to offer something new? This is a massive industry, if they can get their foot in the door I'm not surprised they're trying
@@Jomskylark there's a reason why one of the common question the sharks ask in the show is "is there something like this already in the market?" And if there already is, they should make a good enough pitch for someone to invest in it. From sports drinks, to healthy snacks to clothing, there are a lot of products that would be similar. It's up to them to present it well. They didn't.

It aids in the process losing weight by blocking the absorption fat molecules which add on to a lot of useless weight. Muscle weighs more than fat, you can lose fat, and not lose wait, that's why they have a body fat percentage and people who are in great shape have a very low number, but aren't skinny.

Actually, what destroyed the pitch was when the older guy questioned marks side offhand remarks and cut off the other sharks and let mark just continue and dominate them. They couldn’t articulate anything past his point of it being just another green tea derivative. Would be if someone took out a molecule from caffeine and said it’s a new diet or energy drink/food.
I think if they had their scientist with them it would've been a greet deal of help to make them understand the product more.

I think Mark was right to come in the way he did. The reason because there are so many bullshit weight loss products. I think he should be allowed to call it out. I was skeptical through the pitch too.. I have been a nutrition coach for about 6 years now
He's acted like that before, but only when it's warranted. Remember a guy that says he was able to get a patent on "tech based clothing" that was really just running a charging cable or headphone wire through the seam of a hoodie. Mark lost it and called him out for filing a BS patent.

The old guy is the owner, the young guy is there for display and to look better. You can't be a "fit" supplement company and have the presenter looking like a unhealthy bald old guy with bad eye sight who's obese and looks like he's been eating mcdonalds for a couple decades, so he brought on a young fit tall blonde guy to present with him. Trying to hint that's what happens when taking Minus Cal. And I'm not sure if that young guy is co owner of the company, maybe a small part owner, or maybe just someone he hired to do the presentation with.

A ton of supplement use all sorts of words to make you think a product does one thing when it really doesn't. Marketing your product as something that blocks fat insinuates someone can eat without gaining weight however here they mentioned blocking fat, helping you lose weight, not helping you lose weight, blocking calories etc. The presentation was all over the place and sketchy.

I agree with Mark in general, but the final argument about loosing weight is silly. What these guys meant was that if you ingest the same amount of food with and without the product, you'll lose more/gain less when with the product. After all even physical training only works for weight loss when you burn more than you consume.

But they said that it will help in losing calories. Losing calories means losing weight. And then they go and say we don't claim that it helps lose weight, when it clearly states in the banner even the name implies it. So obviously the sharks would go off. The way they branded this product and named the product is wrong.
And plus, they relied on few papers and jama internal medicine papers as proof. Even then the data was inconclusive. Proper research should have been conducted for this. Choleve has mixed results for actually blocking fat. You can't just use any substitutes for losing calories just because few study papers suggested it. Supplements like these should be suggested by the dietician. This was a scam product and glad it was called out.

I was screaming for them to say that if the person was in a Calorie surplus then they won’t lose weight regardless of taking it. They should of Emphasised that it is a supplement which will help you if you are doing the other basic things right as well!

@@kevinconroy6606 a lot of people struggle to be consistent with this method of losing weight and a lot of people like the idea of there being a easier route to fat loss, so I think that may be a reason why. I wouldn’t be one of those people but I imagine there is people like that who would buy it.
