Problem is that is the Pavlok owner used outside studies to support his product. That’s why Mark said it was B.S.

He was until Barbara interrupted
So he has 3 people who said they wouldn't invest in him... Mark Cuban calls him a scam artist to his face and is out and Kevin offers him $500k on his valuation with a loan and he says "I'd rather work with the person who called me the scam artist than the guy who offered me half a million dollars..." No wonder Kevin was so irate!
he explained it, it was edited out
Because Kevin O'Leary has screwed almost every business partners he has ever worked with. Because the businesses he has put on place have consistently failed. The biggest financial successes he have had, the ones he made his fortune on, were businesses he managed to sell despite failing.
Notoriously, he is known for being the cofonder of Softkey, an educational game company that he sold to Mattel. Softkey was never profitable when he was at its head, and it was an absolute financial disaster for Mattel, considered one of the worst . According to Mattel, O'Leary convinced him to buy by using deceptive accounting to conceal just how badly the company was doing. So basically, he scammed them.
If you look at his history, one by one, everything he has been involved with has been a disaster. He was even involved in promoting FTX recently. He's a fraud, a conman, nobody who knows what they are doing should want to do business with him. Don't take my word for it, actually look it up. If you don't know where to look, Common Sense Skeptic made a 3 parts series about him I recommend.
And now, with all I just said, everyone seam to think Maneesh was rude in this video. Just imagine how rude it would have been if he had explained all of this.

Anyone would be sceptic if they didn't knew about pavlovs classical conditioning which this is based upon and the names comes from (not sure why he didn't explain that better), thats why Kevin knew this stuff would work since he studied psychology and offer a deal. Mark was going overboard for not believing science behind it like thats nothing wow, any dumbo who isn't in psychology would say it can't work... so nothing special for being so ignorant xd kinda annoyed me for being so crazed out of his mind.... but other bad stuff about the company I think everyone saw so he didn't do sniff out nothing new really... You can quite literally replicate this without even having the benefit of mass production for less than $10, and the biggest cost will end up being the silicon wristband.
Two major flaws with his business (if we take his claims at face value).
1. Nobody wants another item on their wrist. Watches, bracelets, fit bit etc.
2. We used to wear this product for the same purpose in middle school. It was called a rubber band
lol i didn't even think about that rubber band thing. Maybe if he programmed it to somehow detect and shock you when you were biting your nails for instance, it would work.
Damn you're right. It's just a glorified wrist rubber band lol.
@@leonardilifter I mean, that's what he claimed it could do using "modern research and science" but how would a watch know that you're biting your nails besides tracking motions (which, nearly every smartphone has built-in), but even then, how would it differentiate between biting your nails and just eating something.
Then you have every other bad habit, like maybe drinking, drug misuse, or worse. This man literally googled pet shock collars, put a different band on it and called it a day.
That and it somehow has the ability for other people to control it (which can be dangerous, given current technology and the risks involved), none of that was actually shown.
That's not even considering the humane ethics and the dangers, what if a guy with a heart condition or a pacemaker has one of these bands? What if it misfunctions? What if a person was washing their hands (like, everyone does), and it goes off?
I think he deserved to be laughed out of the room to be honest, there's a whole list of problems with a product like that, and I can see why none of them chose to get involved in it. At best it would be marketed on some back-alley amazon account.

He got humiliated on National TV, but I also think the sharks were already bias towards him, it was apparent they didn’t like the guy from the beginning.
Robert said exactly what I was thinking, if I don’t have the discipline to simply catch myself doing or before doing a habit I want to stop, why would I have the discipline to buzz myself? And then he goes “It only works if you don’t want it to”
I think starting it will be difficult but if ur keep wearing this watch and then giving you a shock when u find urself doing the bad habit eventually you can stop the bad habit , because by giving this shock brain would memorize to break when you start doing ut unconsciously
It's the old joke about self-help books; if I was motivated enough to buy a book and read it, I wouldn't need the book. But that said, for some people it's not about the motivation or discipline, it's about looking for a method that helps. If you have a habit to break and you think this might help, you'll buy one just to try, and I won't rule out it working for some people, esp those who start believing it does work. Remember the placebo effect is a huge factor in any treatment, plus there is a phenomenon where people who have a habit may, if they try, transfer the action to a different one, e.g. you'll stop tapping your feet if you play with a fidget-spinner. Combine that with unpleasant stimulus and you may just stop doing the thing you wanted to stop doing. If nothing else, I can imagine some parents buying these for their kids. It's not great parenting but, from the company's perspective, a sale's a sale!
I guess there are many people who do catch themselves but are unable to stop, ie drugs, gambling, etc. The question is can the shock over power the dopamine releases of certain drugs or addictions? If so, Im sure the user would use any means to try to reprogram the brain.
Well if you had the discipline to by the product in the first place then that should also lead you to gaining the discipline to use the product. You obviously bought the product because you wanted to stop a bad habit, because if you didn’t want to stop the habit then you wouldn’t have bought the product, so obviously the product will only work if you want it to work
To be fair I had a really bad self harming habit when I was a mid teen. And my go to everytime I was having those feelings I would use a rubberband on my wrist and it helped me. I think this is a bit different though.

@@perezynkrs1 ???? you didnt listen to him? he litteraly told them that it only works if the person actualy uses it. where forcing? and this IS an actualy proven method. its aversion therapy. the angry shark was only concerend about if it works with a watch

I think that hurt Mr. wonderful‘s feelings when he said that to him. He seems tough but maybe it might be an act. 10:46
I never get tired of watching this clip....macho respect for Kevin !!
Someone coming on the tank with a product named after a guy who tortured dogs and declining a deal with Mr. Wonderful based on character is beautifully poetic.
Who cares about the dogs? The experiment was a breakthrough.

I mean pavlov is a pretty big figure in psychology regardless
The real reason he said no is that Kevin wanted to be paid back and made a point of saying that IF his projections were right, he should have no problem paying. He knew he couldn’t pay, so he turned him down. Kevin called his bluff then kicked him out when he refused to admit it and insulted him.
It’s more likely that it was due to personal reasons that didn’t make the final edit. It looks like he elaborated but they cut it out
TBH they really didn’t give the guy a fair chance he handled himself well to say they sharks were eating him alive from the start. Mark made a good point about doing clinical trials. I don’t think they were fair or respectful of this guy at all.
Bro ur just stupid i could tell😅 how could you buy a product like this without medical testing and confirmation. If the zaps bring you pain who's the responsibility for it? The sharks?
Yeah they didn’t give him much of a chance, but still what do you say to the guy that paid someone to slap him in the face when he gets on twitter and making a shock collar for humans that eat “unhealthy”.
I’m just saying the guy is overthinking with his solutions
Twitter: Turn off the internet or go outside hangout with friends
Unhealthy Eating: just go on a low carb diet
@@mangosage7288 Look at how well they're doing now. They're actually doing well, and the reviews are nearly 5/5. People say, "Oh, just use a rubber band." I used a rubber band and it never worked. Plus, a rubber band doesn't have an alarm clock feature, automation feature, and an app. This watch is worth it. Also, the shock isn't even that bad. Linus tech tips, a RUclipsr with over 15 million subscribers, said it worked good. The zaps do bring you pain, but that's the whole point. I would give myself pain if it meant breaking bad habits. The problem is Maneesh attitude. He had a very rude attitude, but it would be ad hominem to say his product is bad just because of his bad attitude. His bad attitude doesn't discount the value of his product. Additionally, the 500,000 he charged for pi percent of his company was just ridiculous. But obviously, this doesn't mean his watch was wrong either, only the amount he charged. Their newest watch, Pavlok 3 deluxe, has a 4.2/5 star rating. It may be expensive, he may have had a rude attitude, and he probably charged too much to the shark tanks. But at the end of the day, all of those things do not disprove the watch's value. Saying that they do disprove its value would be a non-sequitor. Sorry for the bad english
Mr Wonderful got a taste of his own medicine and didn't like it lol
Halfway through, I was like "why is kevin in the title when this is clearly a mark-centric clip" and then oh my god it got worse.
You realised it tho
Given the title, I expected Kevin to have disagreement over the valuation etc....but gosh that guy's imputation of Kevin's personality was totally unexpected.
Mark has always shown why he’s the smartest person in the room
The product became very successful, Kevin saw that, the others didn't. Mark was too busy being pedantic on the presentation, and not the product;s potential.
@@markmark5269 haha what are you talking about? Have you looked at the product reviews? They're terrible.
Actually after this video I am sure he isn’t
Just because you don’t understand what he’s talking about doesn’t mean he’s smart and right
Big facts hes my fave
this one video has given so many awesome edited videos. Thank you Manish!
Robert such a lovely guy
He’s saying its not about the money but wanted the sharks to buy into a 16 million dollar valuation 😂😂😂
Of course, if it has the potential why not
He rejected the offer because he knew his device was a scam and couldn’t pay back the loan. He came there for quick money
I could see it too. Once Mr. Wonderful said he could easily do it if a 3rd of his projections were correct, his face scrunched. That gave me a clear sign that he absolutely fabricated it.
The reason this entrepreneur actually gave was that he didn’t want to associate with kevin o’leary because of a controversial stance he had against the middle class/poor people. I don’t exactly remember what he said but yeah.
Crct
Ya think?
Not really, they actually were really successful and still selling.
“This doesn’t sound very positive Barbara” 😂 Kevin funny asf
Barbara’s most valid reason for being out
This man is the literal embodiment of “let me copy your hw and I’ll change my answers a lil to show I did it and not you”. The only problem is you can’t do that when you’re citing studies not about or using your product.
when manish asked are there any other deals and then kevin cusses,,the timing ,damn funny
I actually bought this product. I have a very bad habit of sleeping through alarms, even super loud ones. Was in search of a product that would actually wake me up. No joke I actually love this this. My body actually adapted to the buzz and the beeps I receive before I am shocked and gets myself up before I even get the zap from this watch. I now can wake up anytime I want in the morning with no hassle. Going to buy the new smartwatch version that is coming out aswell. Great product in my opinion but the other bad habits people have i don’t think they would hold themselves accountable to shock themselves. 👍

Lori wants to make documentaries about every entrepreneur
In hindsight Mark Cuban might seem stupid since Pavlok ultimately turned out to be not a scam and became an actual product.
But he was right to be suspicious, they valued the product too high and too early, they're overly confident using past studies on the concept instead of doing on their own product and they chose the worst guy to explain the idea behind it (even if he's the owner, he shouldn't have been alone). Putting aside his neurodivergence, he was literally high in this idea of "making humanity better" instead of making a real business. He totally deserved that F U from Kevin, but glad that he's not a scammer.
They are worth 1 mil. He was offering the company at 15.9 mil at the time. So they were right not to invest.
6:14 It's funny that the book tittled "EVIDENCE" 😂
Kevin’s offer was beyond nice even a bank wouldn’t have loaned that dude any money.
Not even a loan shark would loan him money
his company is extremely successful now
@@justinvaldez4449 It has a 2 million dollar evaluation my guy. That's 14 million dollars less then he estimated the company's value to be. Yes it is successful in the fact it is profitable (easy to scam people with the promise to cure their addictions), doesn't change the fact this guy came on the show with an absolutely ludicrous evaluation and clearly did not intend to make a deal.
