- In this vlog, I take a chance on fitting my own solar powered air vent extractor fan. Firstly I have to cruise somewhere quite so I can make loads of noise. The sun comes out after a thunderstorm. Join me on the Leeds and Liverpool canal, Wigan Branch.

Great VLOG as usual Will. As you won't be using the vent fan continuously, the non-direct sunlight charging shouldn't be an issue. Excellent installation and a very neat finish. Mavis will be pleased!👍

Dear Will, all the unusual rain fall that has been occurring around the globe is due to the massive underwater explosion of the Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai volcano in the Pacific Ocean. It sent 146 metric megatons of water vapour into the stratosphere in January 2022 which will continue to result in excessive amounts of rain for the next few years. Sorry, it seems that we are "sending" all our rain over across the pond to you guys. We've had tons of rain too. AND Tornado's . Do you get those over there? Our temps have been up and down. 70 Fahrenheit, then 30's, then 60's, then freeze warnings. A mess. We had an absolute gorgeous full eclipse here where I live. Never experienced a full one like that in my life . Have you? WOW. Grandsons are cute. The oldest looks like Uncle Leon. Try to keep dry. Travel safe and let's all hope we have a calm, nice summer.

Nice job with the Fan . I was a bit worried the Jig-saw blade might hit something on the ‘Down Stroke ‘ . All you need to do now is Cut another Hole in the Solar Panel, so the Sun can charge up the Fan Battery 😊.

How will your solar fan charge if it’s in the shade of your solar panel.

why did you not fit it, where there was a vent already in the kitchen, hole already done ,may be made slightly bigger ,and did you fill those screw holes that had no screws in them on the roof side of extractor, rust on the inside of roofing ,might be a concern ,,with your tools ,spring on router sticking, grease or oil moving parts ,last a lot longer
I want to fit a hood so it needed to be above the cooker. Good point about the screw holes. I will fill those. I put water proof grease on the metal and some rust treatment. Cheers for watching..👍👍

Hi Will. A diy video, those blue skies, green field and a waterway can't be beat. 👍. Be interesting to see how durable the fan is, and waterproof. @NarrowboatWill just put a bit of Weight on the one side of the boat to tilt the boat, a full washing machine should do the trick.

You had me on the edge of my seat today, but you spoilt it by saying it WAS under the solar panel. Got to ask, Are cutting a great hole in the solar panel so the solar fan can see the sky? Or, is there enough indirect light to charge the fan (what about the winter)? See next weeks episode!!!🤣🤣👍👍

I like your idea with the kitchen vent; good thinking! Just a thought, but you can get a neater finish around the edges of the vent and roof by spraying on soapy water just before you finish the job spreading the silicone with your finger.
This stops the silicone sticking to the job and helps you get a smoother bead. 👍
I thought I had a nice finish. That's a good idea but I always forget to use it. 🤣🤣
Have you ordered the bendy light rays to get under the solar panel. At least it is protected from the rain so one less issue tp worry about.

I fitted one of those solar vents on my boat and had nothing but trouble with water ingress, really bad design you will end up taking it apart and sealing it up
