Great vlog Will I knew you had the knowledge to figure it out.....your some guy for 1 guy....take care and I'll see you and tiller man on the next one 👍 😂😊😊😊😊
Find the ECU on Mr Van, trace wires, there is no way you can have a crank sensor, throttle position sensor and the Cold start/Heater plug circuit all go wrong at the same time. Either you have had water in the ECU or the wiring plugs/harness need looking at (most likely cause) I expect the ECU now has all sorts of fault codes stored in it that now need clearing, have you got an ODB reader?Use this to read the codes and clear them. Hopefully this will reset the cold start light or at least tell you what is going on.
Absolutely. That's what I thought straight away..I did find really bad wiring connections and I've tried sorting the common fault of water dripping on my engine. Vlogs coming.
Well done mate I knew you would get to the bottom of the problem with your van.. You mentioned about how expensive the fuses are for the van ??? Unfortunately it's the same for everything these days.. I hope that you can now use your van without any more issues... Anyway will keep smiling mate. All I can say is that you have yet again produced a stunning video .. very interesting and very informative.. To be perfectly honest I don't expect anything else from you.. they have always been a pleasure to watch.. Anyway will keep yourself safe and well mate.. the only place I ever felt safe was on the canals. Away from all the madness.
Hello Wayne. Once again you've left a very positive comment. Thank you for your support. I don't know what's happening in the world. I don't watch the fear box soap operas. Called news. 😂 I only watch what's around me. Have a good day. 👍
Hi Will I am a retired electrical engineer I wish I had a pound for every multi connector I have cursed at in my working life, if there is a multi connector any where in site, test it first. Really interesting vlog, glad you persevered and got it sorted. I had every confidence in you.
I had to go through the process of following the fault back to its source. I first had to scratch my itch by changing the throttle sensor to know it wasn't that. Only then I could discount it. Both AA guys said that was at fault. It was a cheap fix in the end. I'd hate to think what Nissan would charge. I was getting voltage to all the components. 😂 Thanks for watching.
I loved mooching around scrap yards. My first car was an Escort Mk 1 basic. I went around all the local scrappers looking for instruments from the more upmarket models and fitted them to mine. I understood that the wiring harnesses and binnacles would be the same to save on manufacturing costs. Also pocketed loads of bulbs and fuses. Happy days.
Hi Will , good to see that nearly ninety year old brain still ticking over , looking forward to the next installment in the ' adventures of Will and Mr.Van ' . Regards Gary & Sue
Your reverse working accelerator reminded me of many years ago, my husband ‘fixed’ my twin tub washing machine. 😆😆When you switched the washer part on, the spinner worked and when you put the lid down on the spinner, the washing started.😂😂
Personally, Will, for that, was an excellent vlog. Great content especially the scrap yard walk about and your fault finding on Mr Van. By now I hope you have a fully functioning van and installed the window switches too 😊
Hi Will. Good stuff and so pleased you finally found a fault and it was rhe origin of the multiple problems. Bet that was a great relief. You never know, might fit some boating in soon! I see the videos of Leon's boat have attracted a higher number of views than "average". 👍👍My RUclips is now recommending vlogs you did over a year ago whereas it didn't recommend any at all till recently. All the best. Paul.
Thanks, Paul.Yeah, that's strange. I just can't tell what's going to work and what's not making vlogs. Leon's boat was very popular. My breakdown, not so..Ha ha 🙃 😅
Good persistence, nothing more frustrating than tracking down a bad wire or connector in a mess of spaghetti like that. Some years back I started using dielectric grease on terminal connectors every time I pulled them apart and put them back together, it's an easy way to eliminate a faulty connection, works good when you hook up trailer connectors as well. Just be careful to not let it gooze over to an adjoining terminal as it is conductive and could cause a short. And no, it doesnt do a damn thing for toenail fungus, and now my toes keep shorting out when they rub up against each other... the mental image is free of charge, Will. Good luck, and no, not a boring vlog at all!
Ah, there you go, you found your type of sweet shop😄 I bet you were there for hours and hours looking for the parts you need, and go "woo! this part come in handy, that cable I will need in future, oh! this is can replace electrical part in boat, and so on and on.... I know you😜 I'm glad that you finally fix the on-off switch board at the side of passenger door👍

Yeah, cars were so simple then. Now it's all electronics and computers. I wouldn't know where to begin and certainly wouldn't have so much patience and determination.
Not boring in the least. I have a similar vehicle (Master) and followed this with interest. Well done! I miss the old style breakers yards, presumably declined as a result of elf and safety.

Absolutely fascinating! Love the puzzle solving. Reminds me of listening to my dad and uncles chatting about this and that problem that they solved and how they got there etc. I thought it was wiring. Didn't have any actual knowledge to back that up mind you. Pure conjecture. Hoping the next vlog shows a much happier Mr. Van!
I had no clue what you were talking about will but found it quite interesting ! I now know how to fiddle with dodgy wires! Lol thanks for the education ! Xx
phew , that looked hard work mentally , wires can be a real pain , especially when they've been chewed by mice , but surely they can't be that tasty to them lol .
Hi Will, it might help if you can borrow a fault code reader and erase the previous fault codes that are stored in the ECU, if you fit a new part the ECU still thinks that the same fault is still present until you clear the previous codes, just a thought, also the plug on connection that had a broken wire that you soldered they can be de-pinned, slide a thin pin or a paper clip that has been hammered Flat down the side of the connector and the pin pulls out - Useful video showing how ruclips.net/video/w3OrsLbkB0A/видео.html .....probably make it easier for next time, sorry if you already know just trying to help, good luck hope you can fix the van and save a few quid.
I agree. The AA erased all fault codes. They said the throttle body was faulty. I don't think readers detect faulty wiring. That's old school deduction. 😂 That scrapyard saved me a fortune. Thanks for the tip. I didn't know those pins pushed out. I've learned something. 😌
@@NarrowboatWill Didn't realise the AA had erased the codes already I thought that they were still active, hopefully you have made a permanent repair now and all is well, fingers crossed for you, take care mate best of luck - Paul
Fascinating Will, sometimes you have to trust your gut instincts and fix the problems as you feel is right. Good luck in fixing Mr Van. Take care in these troubled times. :)

🥱... what..wait...oh, sorry, is it over? Umm, yeah, great vlog. 😂🤣 Yes, I'm just picking at you. For some odd reason, it was interesting to watch. Not that I would want your entire channel to be about you working on Mr. Van but, I guess it's just the relaxing, methodical way you do things. I can't stand having a vehicle that I can't trust, especially on longer trips. You find yourself jumping at every little knock or strange noise that sounds out of character, worrying that you are about to find yourself stranded on the side of the road again. Anyway, I hope it's all fixed for now. Thanks for sharing. Take care. 👍👍.

Hi Will, I did say months and months ago you should sell your van because it's costing you money, and now more things will start going wrong, I think Mr van has had his day, and I think you know that.!! But it's still entertaining watching your talents of mechanical genius. 👍
I shall keep him alive. He's still good for a few more miles. Hopefully. 😂 🤣 If I got another vehicle, I would still be fixing it..Even new ones are not reliable now. 😒

You are going to hate yourself if you get rid of Mr. Van. Just think about how long it will take for you to learn all the quirks and idiosyncrasies of another vehicle. Better off knowing what you have got.
Keep up the good work!
I actually enjoyed it. I also found some parts for my daughters car as well. Ha ha 😂
Great blog, admire your persistence, but dont you think you learn alot from problems like that
If you follow it through and not give up. There's a lot to learn. Thanks.
GG says woof to both of you.
Woof woof into a bar. The barman says it's raining kats and GG's outside.
40 years ago you would have had it figured out in 5 minutes. Cars are so complicated these days, it takes an engineering degree just to change the oil. I hope you get MrVan straightened out
Agreed. Designed to fail in my view. 😂 🤣
Will britain isn't a nice place to be at the moment please stay safe mate Marty Qld Australia
I wouldn't watch the news. Nothing is happening here.
Be aware of hanging a ton of keys in the contact. Its wil damage and wearing out the contoct slot, plus by an accident its not safe on ure richt knee. Its Just an advice. 😊😊😊
That makes sense. Thanks for tip. 👍
Always trust your guts. Can't remember exactly why and how, but they really act as your 2nd brain.
Agreed Robert. 👍
