Gaunter O'Dimm is a great character cause we still know so little about him but he seems even more powerfull than all the villains you've fought outside of the main and side storylines.
It is sooo hard to write a character who says so little but underneath it all has a sea of emotions. But they pull it off, especially once Ciri is brought in.
No O'Dimm, Vessemir, Kiera Metz, or Eskel and the Bloody Baron as just an honorable mention. Not to mention some of the characters like the Emperor or Avalach or Philipa that made you hate them. Although, I liked the characters on the list too. Feel like you need a top 20 list, top 10 is not near enough.

In my opinion Olgierd is one of the best written characters ever in any video game. Just loved his story and the fact that in the end he becomes Iris’s greatest fear who used to love him.
Debopam Seal In the witcher 1 there is a small mission with Shani Dandelion and Zoltan that you have a small party and everyone drinks and Dandelion talks about them and Geralt has no idea who they were.. pretty sad

But let's be clear, in no way shape or form is Yennefer more important to the story than Ciri. It's even arguable (though a stretch) that Geralt is less important to the trilogy than Ciri as the whole point of the story is to set her up as the last Witcher and give her an in depth background story. The first trilogy is really just a prologue, and as the Witcher trilogy comes to a close you realize that at some point you as Geralt have become a supporting character and Ciri has surpassed you. She even says as much when it comes to fighting the white frost. This is her story, silly, and then she goes and saves the entire world a feat you've never accomplished.
After reading books Triss became one of the most hated character for what she did to Yen. I was really mad that in witcher and witcher 2 you HAD to stay with that bitch, Geralt had amnesia, I didn't. At least you could chose not to have sex with her some times. Then in witcher 3 Geralt completely restored his memory yet he speaks with Triss so nice, flirting even it bothered me that there were no "angry" dialog choices. Games failed to transfer some of story from books, like how Ciri found out that emperor aka Duni is her father since only Geralt and Yen knew that, and they didn't see each other since Ciri and unicorn brought them to isle of Avallach. Or how Dettlaff found Regis in that damn castle. Also I was sad that games didn't mention at least few sentences about Milva (probably one of the saddest stories ever) but that more disappointment not fail.

well, ya, their relationships looked toxic, full of pain, they run from each other for few ears, sleep with other people, but in the end when they reunite, those moments are probably most powerful love story i've ever read, watched or played in video game. just like in life, not everything is perfect, but moments of happiness is why we live. of course everyone have different opinions, thats why game with choices are good thing. i was disappointed that i couldnt be a little more angry, cold while talking to triss, they just made her look like innocent little girl playing ciri's sister.

Well, yeah... the games did some things different, but I'd rather state it in a different way: The Witcher games are heavily based on the books, but unless changed in the game's lore, everything that happened in the books happened in the games.
Well. as far as I know, they wanted to make anything canon and even asked the original author Sapkowski, who turned their offer to help writing down and still holds the opinion that he himself may decide if CDPR told a canon story or not. That said, I think his point is valid, since he created the world. Still sad, that he doesn't want to participate.

The Witcher games are a CONTINUATION of a story from the books.- which means that everything that happened in the books is a past of the game Geralt. There are some slight changes and reinterpretations - but the point still stands. There are callbacks to the books all the time, very often Geralt remembers and talks about the things that happened to him (or other characters) in the books.

In novels Geralt first meets Regis in 5th book "Baptism by Fire" (also when he first met Zoltan Chivey) and Regis didn't have a mule at the time, he "disguised" himself as a doctor/herbalist of sorts... Gathering herbs at the ancient elven cemetery. Regis being butchered by peasants isn't why Geralt surprised to see him - Regis was blown into dust by a extremely powerful sorcerer, also that's partially why killing Dettlaff made to be "such a big deal" in Blood and Wine. Funny thing - characters actually mention EXACTLY THAT, when Geralt first meets Regis at the warehouse right after first fight with Dettlaff in the expansion. The incident with peasants happened prior Geralt met Regis... Liiiike 100-200 years prior...

Seems to me after watching this video that WatchMojo played only the final entry of the game series and based much of Yen's impact on the books rather than games.

... at least until The Witcher 4 and Geralt is killed and Ciri becomes the main protagonist of the story. But let's be clear, in no way shape or form is Yennefer more important to the story than Ciri. It's even arguable (though a stretch) that Geralt is less important to the trilogy than Ciri as the whole point of the story is to set her up as the last Witcher and give her an in depth background story. The first trilogy is really just a prologue, and as the Witcher trilogy comes to a close you realize that at some point you as Geralt have become a supporting character and Ciri has surpassed you. She even says as much when it comes to fighting the white frost. This is her story, silly, and then she goes and saves the entire world a feat you've never accomplished.

After reading books Triss became one of the most hated character for what she did to Yen. I was really mad that in witcher and witcher 2 you HAD to stay with that bitch, Geralt had amnesia, I didn't. At least you could chose not to have sex with her some times. Then in witcher 3 Geralt completely restored his memory yet he speaks with Triss so nice, flirting even it bothered me that there were no "angry" dialog choices. Games failed to transfer some of story from books, like how Ciri found out that emperor aka Duni is her father since only Geralt and Yen knew that, and they didn't see each other since Ciri and unicorn brought them to isle of Avallach. Or how Dettlaff found Regis in that damn castle. Also I was sad that games didn't mention at least few sentences about Milva (probably one of the saddest stories ever) but that more disappointment not fail.

well, ya, their relationships looked toxic, full of pain, they run from each other for few ears, sleep with other people, but in the end when they reunite, those moments are probably most powerful love story i've ever read, watched or played in video game. just like in life, not everything is perfect, but moments of happiness is why we live. of course everyone have different opinions, thats why game with choices are good thing. i was disappointed that i couldnt be a little more angry, cold while talking to triss, they just made her look like innocent little girl playing ciri's sister.

Well, yeah... the games did some things different, but I'd rather state it in a different way: The Witcher games are heavily based on the books, but unless changed in the game's lore, everything that happened in the books happened in the games.
Well. as far as I know, they wanted to make anything canon and even asked the original author Sapkowski, who turned their offer to help writing down and still holds the opinion that he himself may decide if CDPR told a canon story or not. That said, I think his point is valid, since he created the world. Still sad, that he doesn't want to participate.

Lol whut? The Witcher 1 starts right when the books end. The Witcher games are a CONTINUATION of a story from the books.- which means that everything that happened in the books is a past of the game Geralt. There are some slight changes and reinterpretations - but the point still stands. There are callbacks to the books all the time, very often Geralt remembers and talks about the things that happened to him (or other characters) in the books.
Thank you for this video! Every charatcter showed on this video are worth its weight in gold. The Witcher series and the books have an unique place in my heart.

In novels Geralt first meets Regis in 5th book "Baptism by Fire" (also when he first met Zoltan Chivey) and Regis didn't have a mule at the time, he "disguised" himself as a doctor/herbalist of sorts... Gathering herbs at the ancient elven cemetery.
Regis being butchered by peasants isn't why Geralt surprised to see him - Regis was blown into dust by a extremely powerful sorcerer, also that's partially why killing Dettlaff made to be "such a big deal" in Blood and Wine. Funny thing - characters actually mention EXACTLY THAT, when Geralt first meets Regis at the warehouse right after first fight with Dettlaff in the expansion.
The incident with peasants happened prior Geralt met Regis... Liiiike 100-200 years prior...

Vesemir/Lambert/Yennefer Though I adore Yennefer from the books, she is nonexistent for the first two games other than a vague memory and in the 3rd...well, CDPR took a complex and strong woman character and turned her into a one-dimensional shrew. She is hardly Geralt's primary love interest throughout the series and has little to no impact on the main story as a whole. Seems to me after watching this video that WatchMojo played only the final entry of the game series and based much of Yen's impact on the books rather than games.
