Lyrics:
Don't put me off, 'cause I'm on fire
And I can't quench my desire
Don't you know that I'm burning up for your love?
You're not convinced that that is enough
I put myself in this position
And I deserve the imposition
But you don't even know I'm alive
And this pounding in my heart just won't die
I'm burning up
I'm burning up, burning up for your love
I'm burning up, burning up for your love
I'm burning up, burning up for your love
For your love
You're always closing your door
Well, that only makes me want you more
And day and night, I cry for your love
You're not convinced that that is enough
To justify my wanting you
Now tell me what you want me to do
I'm not blind, and I know
That you want to want me, but you can't let go
C'mon, let go
I'm burning up, burning up for your love
I'm burning up, burning up for your love
I'm burning up, burning up for your love
For your love, oh
Do you wanna see me down on my knees?
Or bending over backwards, now, would you be pleased?
Unlike the others, I'd do anything
I'm not the same, I have no shame
I'm on fire
C'mon, let go
Do you wanna see me down on my knees?
Or bending over backwards, now, would you be pleased?
Unlike the others, I'd do anything
I'm not the same, I have no shame
I'm on fire
Ooh, yeah - I'm burning up
Ooh, yeah - I'm burning up
Come on, oh come on - I'm burning up
Uh, uh, uh - I'm burning up
Ooh, yeah - I'm burning up
Come on, oh come on - I'm burning up
Ooh, yeah - I'm burning up
Uh, uh, uh
You know you got me burning up, baby
You know you got me burning up, baby
Burning up for your love
Burning up for your love
Burning up for your love
Burning up for your love

This was my first time seeing Madonna. I was watching MTV in my dorm room. I had just started college. I didn't even remember her name.
Her name was optional.
And I with my younger brother watching it on my grandparents tv. Recalling myself thinking: "This girl could go far." metaltomotown

Probably the most underrated song from her early days. Love the bass line, the simplest bass parts are always the best. Bu bu bum bu bu bu bum bum.
peepingtom20101 And don't forget the guitar solo! :DD
My favorite Madonna song.
It's a great tune. Can't believe I never knew about it
I totally agree. When this came out, I bought the cd and played this song over and over dancing in my room.
In my opinion, this was her most "Blue Magnum " song besides Into The Groove. The instrumental is to die for. Don't know how many times I watched the video over and over. Pure gem!
A special extra extra thanks to Nile Rodgers and Benard Edward for their contribution with the beat.
This was Reggie Lucas. Rogers and Edwards were the Like A Virgin album. She hired Rodgers because of his work for David Bowie on Let's Dance.

One of my favourite Madonna songs. Shame about the views. Deserves more.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Few would have noticed hints of her future career in this song: Like a virgin, justify my love, express yourself
A lot of people don't realize just how huge the Album simple called "Madonna" was. Out of the eight tracks you could say easily say that six of the songs were hits and at least 3 or four could be considered MONSTER Hits. She was a breath of fresh air and you knew that if Madonna released a song, it was going to be good. A Madonna video release was considered an event and she never disappointed her fans. When I think of the one and done Albums and the one hit wonders, she is truly cream that rose to the top. Fun, Controversial, trendsetting, risk taker and superb. Thank goodness then and now for the best selling and perhaps the greatest female artist of all time. Madonna.
You, fanboys really live in your own little world 🤣
@@jarulelamar2025 Oh my god! A real live Internet troll! We all have our popcorn. Please go ahead.
@@jarulelamar2025 Go look at the numbers, dude. She has something like 50 (!) number one singles, more than the Beatles or Elvis or any other artist. I was listening to a music podcast and they brought up the record set by Madonna that is even crazier than her number one hits: something like her first 20 consecutive songs she released to radio hit the top ten (most in the top 3) on the Billboard pop charts. Literally every song she put out for the first part of her career made the top ten on the main Billboard pop charts. There’s no one from today who could even release three consecutive songs into the top ten, let alone 20! Someone like Drake has probably had a string of songs land in the top ten of the rnb and hip hop list, but not the main Billboard chart. Taylor Swift is probably the closest to having done that in modern times, but her number is probably around 5. Bruno Mars probably did it around 5 times as well. Madonna did it 20 times from the very first song of her career. And when the streak was broken-a soundtrack song from, I believe, the Sean Penn At Close Range movie, but don’t quote me on that-she proceeded to have another long run in the top ten (the Express Yourself, Vogue, Like A Prayer era). The numbers speak for themselves. Madonna was definitely a phenomenon alongside MJ and Prince.
Edit: my bad. I confused the numbers. Madonna does have the most number ones of any artist in Billboard history, but that was across ALL lists-dance, pop, etc.-not the main top 100 pop chart list. The Beatles still have the most number ones (20) for the top 100.
SHE WAS EVERYTHING IN THE 80´S. LOVE ALWAYS
Is she in a Sauna or something in the part of the video?
I hate it when she is driving the Car at the end!
I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it at the age of 17. And I am still in love with this song today at the age of 57!
This song is badass..I just turned 60... I play guitar, mainly rock n roll, blues stuff. But I remember when this came out. I loved the bass line. It drives the song. The lead guitar is great too...I love how Madonna kinda talks her way through out the song and then singing in sections. Yup it just has an awesome hook to it..I love it .😀👍♥️

I still remember my ex dancing to this
I still remember dancing to this! 62.5 years old here and born & raised and still live in metro Detroit too. Madonna was in town this past Monday night (1/15/24) at Ford Field and she sang this AND mentioned Menjo’s (our oldest surviving gay bar which are critically endangered). WISH WISH WISH I had the money to be there. 😭😖🤬
I can't believe this is my first time watching this! the song is so breathtaking!!!!!!! I don't understand why anyone would say her music is old & stop listening to her, that legend is ageless!!!!
I think they mean her new stuff, it's like she's trying too hard to be "cool and young" again... and it's clearly not doing well. Her 80s and 90s hits were golden, and some of the 00s. But her recent material has been a bit forgettable.
She's turning 60 this year on Aug 16th.
Madonna......Cher........Michael Jackson.......defined an entire “era”. They are ageless.

She had no idea how big she was going to be at this time. An iconic performance from the low budget 80’s😛
Iconic what does that mean
@@kevindearmond523 Iconic performance means “forever memorable” and “a defining moment” for Madonna. Cheers
Yes she did. She created her world. I can’t help but wonder if she’ll show me how she did it.
@@nhanikah I think it was a mix of her tenacity, confidence and to some extent, luck. When I look back at a lot of her older interviews from that time it was very obvious she was extremely confident and stopped at nothing to get herself where is today. She had a vision, she had a belief and she went after it. There’s no secret it to it really.
The "relationships" she cultivated didn't hurt, either! Damn good for her, too.

When you watch these old videos you can really see how Madonna became a star. When she says "unlike the others, I'd do anything," you believe her...lol. She was so wild and aggressive and uninhibited. And beautiful, not in a conventional way, but she just somehow has such an iconic face - she's just interesting to look at.
ScinLaeca358 The cameras always loved Madonna & vice versa.
+ScinLaeca358 Back in the 1980s, some music magazine writers were comparing her to Marilyn Monroe, and Madonna herself acknowledged that she was trying to attain the type of widespread recognition and celebrity that Monroe had. To me, she is more like Marlene Dietrich. And that is not a bad thing at all. Dietrich had a very long acting and musical career, and she still looked sexy, even into the 1960s. Madonna, from the photos that I've seen of her on her "Rebel Hearts" US Tour on Facebook, appears to be doing a similar type of presentation that Marlene Dietrich did for her concert performances during her residencies in Las Vegas, Nevada in the mid-to-late 1950s. If you look at the photos of Dietrich during that time, and compare them to Madonna, the similarities are striking. I guess that history repeats itself in some ways. For Madonna, it is serving her very well, and I like what I am seeing from her at this time.

Even her very simplistic dance moves had a feeling that couldn’t be duplicated. She was on fire
Her charisma...it’s insane. Honestly I think it’s because she’s not THAT pretty like pop stars these days who are all really really pretty where Madge is attractive but approachable and she has a certain down to earth street wise vibe that makes her sexy in this era that no one has ever been able to duplicate.

The bracelets, the hair, the cut off shirts, the makeup…. She created a fashion in the 80’s.

Absolutely, I seen Madonna in concert in 1982 with Steve bray and the Breakfast Club. The concert was at Hoover Junior Highschool's gymnasium and I was in 7th grade. Tickets cost around 4 dollars. And she totally rocked the house, and incidentally broke up with her boyfriend and the breakfast club that day.
