RIP Mr. George Michael. You have always been an inspiration to me. As a gay man who was bullied, lied to, used and often left in despair,, I have always related to the lyrics of your songs. I believe I am a stronger person for having listened to your amazing music. Much Love to you....
Gilbert... I was a "not" gay teenager stuck in a tiny town in the early 80. It was right when "the gay cancer" became a part of the many reasons people used to discriminate, harass, and vilify homosexuality. I could NOT be gay... I knew I'd get killed if my secret ever became public. So I locked up all my urges, hid from the world emotionally, and spent the next decade fighting myself, because, I couldn't be gay. I so understand what George Michael went through, but turn his anguish up to eleven.
We share the same experience. The pressure on George Michael though, the expectations on him to continue to market himself as the MTV-ified image of the straight man and keep his true feeling hidden from the public was horrific.
@carylanguirand7170 Sorry. I always thought the model in the sheer, long-sleeved top towards the end of the video was Tyra, given that Tyra appears in "Too Funky". You don't really get a good look at her and you couldn't pause a video back in those days.
I feel like this music video upgraded the best models of that decade into art. This song has always given me the extra boost of energy I always needed. It's always on top of my playlist ❤
Every time I left an abusive workplace or got dumped by a partner with narcissistic traits, this iconic song strated playing on my inner sountrack. A timless classic for every occasion! 💖
George Michael saved Radley Lakes in South Oxfordshire, a beautiful place thanks to him. His charity was silent, nobody knew how much good the man did. Every time I walk my dog, I remember him.
This entire album was way ahead of it's time and was a complete departure from what he had been previously. It was his artistic expression and music he wanted to make, not what the record company wanted him to make. Listen Without Prejudice
I'd be honored if some fans of the Listen Without Prejudice album would give a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of PRAYING FOR TIME and MOTHERS PRIDE on my YT channel in tribute to 2 of George's greatest compositions. Eventually our man will get his due for all that he gave to modern music as a vocalist, songwriter and producer. THANK YOU GEORGE. WE MISS YOU.
The Brilliance of this album never diminishes. It only becomes more and more evident what a massive massive Untouchable Talent George Michael was. For a man to write compose produce his own music and fight Sony, fight grief, fight the demons around him and still stay humble loving and generous is beyond amazing. What can be said for such a human being. I pray that he is in sweet sweet eternal peace.
Grand Army sent me directly here! Joey's attempt to regain confidence in herself, whilst physically, figuratively, and literally dancing herself into not her old self... but the one she gets to recreate. Regardless of personal viewpoints one may have on the character, this song makes everyone root for her getting there.
This song is incredible when you put it in context. He wanted to free himself from the image he had created for himself and express his true identity, but felt trapped.
my understanding is that this song is an artistic homage to his legal break from his 'wham' counterpart/possible contractual boss(?). apparently, the severance was not pretty, and i'm not sure what predicated it, but words were had and hair was torn. "i don't belong to you, and you don't belong to me" "freedom! freedom! freedom!..." i mean, look at the lyrics: he was an indentured servant of sorts. who knows where he was culled from: poland? lots of musicians hail from poland. call me crazy....

Alison McLean Lane Yeah agreed, a musical icon in his own right... it's just sad that it takes a musician to die for ppl to come out and comment on a vid... I guess that's how the story goes

TheZeppelin1V is right. If any of that ridiculous bronze-age nonsense IS true, then most of the recently deceased musicians will certainly NOT be in heaven. Jesus (meek and mild) was very clear in his 'Sermon on the Mount' speech - anyone attempting to remove "one word" of the Mosaic Laws would categorically end up in the _"unquenchable lake of fire."_ Just look up the Mosaic laws and see what they have to say about homosexuality. Incidentally, they're the same jolly laws which give the okay to the 'Chosen People' to commit genocide and slavery against anyone in the way of their 'promised land'. They also include specific instructions on how to sell your own daughter into sex slavery.

@@vinniemoran7362I wanted to say the same. The 80s and the 90s had amazing music videos. What came after couldn't compare.
The video, the models, the song..this was the 90s. It was awesome. I'm sorry if you weren't there.
Is it just me or do others agree this video is a masterpiece - a work of pure art and brilliance. The voice, the lyrics, the imagery in the video - the way it was filmed - the beauty of the women and the destruction of the symbols.... it's breathtaking. I'm just in awe of this amazing video and song.
David Fincher at his best, before Seven.
I completely agree with you.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@ruicoimbra1607 Wow. HOW did I not know this? I read your comment, watched it 2 more times, and the ONLY thing I can see is the set of 'Se7en.'
Totally agree...this vid, directed by David Fincher who would later become succesful & respected movie director, is truly a work of art, a masterpiece indeed. Dont forget the masterful editing, sound, lighting, costume and everything that made this vid a masterpiece. A golden benchmark.
until he passed away, I didn't realize how much he was apart of my musical child hood and apart of me. RIP George you have a place in my heart with all the greats.
George Michael you've gone too soon and with you a piece of my heart. I'm 44 and I've loved you since I was about nine. You have a voice that stirs one's soul. I miss you deeply. I will never forget you. Thank you for the gift you've shared. I love you

RIP Mr. George Michael. You have always been an inspiration to me. As a gay man who was bullied, lied to, used and often left in despair,, I have always related to the lyrics of your songs. I believe I am a stronger person for having listened to your amazing music. Much Love to you....
Gilbert Martinez 💖💖💖💖💋💋👑💎💎🙋
I so understand what George Michael went through, but turn his anguish up to eleven.
sonicfrogdotnet ....and your point, being....?
We share the same experience. The pressure on George Michael though, the expectations on him to continue to market himself as the MTV-ified image of the straight man and keep his true feeling hidden from the public was horrific.
i'm so glad someone could bring you all this strength 💕💕💕
Happy 61st Heavenly Birthday George!
He was awful. You can see when the HIV kicked in from his toilet habits

Tyra Banks?
@@sikwilly45 That was Naomi Campbell not Tyra Banks
@carylanguirand7170 Sorry. I always thought the model in the sheer, long-sleeved top towards the end of the video was Tyra, given that Tyra appears in "Too Funky". You don't really get a good look at her and you couldn't pause a video back in those days.
Time passes, lives are lived and done, but this will always remain iconic for music, beauty, and style.
The video was, is and always will be something that I will watch in it's entirety.
Absolutely. I miss the 80s even more as I grow older.

I feel like this music video upgraded the best models of that decade into art. This song has always given me the extra boost of energy I always needed. It's always on top of my playlist ❤

Models of this decade? No. These women were and will always be goddesses. And it's hard to top them. Rather impossible. ;)

George Michael saved Radley Lakes in South Oxfordshire, a beautiful place thanks to him. His charity was silent, nobody knew how much good the man did. Every time I walk my dog, I remember him.

This video way ahead of its time. Iconic
Bryan F and the video for Fastlove too. Still looks cool af.
It featured Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Tatiana Patitz.....four of the highest paid fashion models in History
Bryan F this is definitely one of the best videos of the 90's i mean it. and i know there were many.
THE Super models. Everyone else came late.
Beautiful video and song was a great artist
Best era of beauty !!!!
Faith and Freedom are what anyone really need to live a good life. Thanks for all the music, George. We love you.
Too sad. I will mourn this one. Goodbye George. 😭😭😭

His last years were pretty tough with lots of demons tormenting him. Hopefully he is happier in the other realm.
Grand Army sent me directly here! Joey's attempt to regain confidence in herself, whilst physically, figuratively, and literally dancing herself into not her old self... but the one she gets to recreate. Regardless of personal viewpoints one may have on the character, this song makes everyone root for her getting there.

It's nine months later and I still miss him.
Still 2017 and forever!
lovelyti2002 hi
This song is incredible when you put it in context. He wanted to free himself from the image he had created for himself and express his true identity, but felt trapped.
To be fair, that whole leather jacket aesthetic was a bit too ridiculous for the 90s.
" Today the way I play the game is not the same, think I'm gonna get me some happy" ❤ Sometimes the clothes do not make the man!
my understanding is that this song is an artistic homage to his legal break from his 'wham' counterpart/possible contractual boss(?). apparently, the severance was not pretty, and i'm not sure what predicated it, but words were had and hair was torn. "i don't belong to you, and you don't belong to me" "freedom! freedom! freedom!..." i mean, look at the lyrics: he was an indentured servant of sorts. who knows where he was culled from: poland? lots of musicians hail from poland. call me crazy....
@mariazo you know nothing of the 80s
How can anyone not like George Michael? I miss him!

The era of the REAL supermodels. Never to be duplicated but always imitated.
Samantha Davis : the 90s were the pinnacle of human civilization IMO
Chase Knight
these women all look so classy and REAL , omg no fake bloated lips and trashy fake cans.
Josh Dugan they were the top supermodels of the day
I couldn't agree more
IMO, this is the VERY BEST "music video" of all time (to date). As of today, it's "33 years old" and STILL the "Reigning Champ of Music Videos."
Th craziest thing of all is that fact that George does not even appear in the video, not once.

I lose it when George goes "All we have to do now, Is take these lies and make them true somehow. All we have to see, Is that I don't belong to you and you don't belong to me" 🥺
The brilliance of this song and video cannot be understated. The models, sets, clothing (and lack thereof), lighting, and direction are classic and timeless. If we were told this was created in 2022 we would be 💯!

MrJeezus Right on!!! What a party indeed!!!
