So a picture of a dead man is evidence of resurrection?
The man could literally be any man from whatever time period this is from. No scientific method ever would be able to verify the identity of this man, since there are no known descendants from whoever the man is.
Another thing that’s really funny to me about this whole thing, is the way these people cling to the scientific evidence they think speaks in favor of their religion. However when it comes to fact of evolution they dismiss scientific evidence.
So science is wrong about evolution but right about the shroud of Turin?
      You people baffle me….

This is *NOT* how you carbon date, not only do you not use the same strain for three seperate test (you would use 3 seperate strains), you also wouldn't use an area that you know is not the original. There's a reason that those who collected the original data for this "carbon dating" spent 20 years fighting against releasing the data and had to be forced to by the courts. The fingers look long because the shroud is an image created over tenths of a second during the resurrection/ The fingers moved slightly during the resurrection thats why they appear longer. In the past people possessed easy belief in God and Jesus; nowadays, people are more cynical, less inclined to believe in God and the existence of Jesus. The figure contained within the Shroud was not that obvious to people in the past; however, with modern Science, the image is properly revealed and the mystery of Jesus' resurrection made clear.

To add to information: On June 8, 1973, in Globe, Arizona (about 100 miles north of the University of Arizona where the shroud was analyzed) this was spoken by spiritual messengers of God through a man (Ray Elkins) in prophecy.
"And now we should answer this question you have had within your minds of the shroud. First, we should answer in this manner, as the body of the one known as Jesus was taken, therefore, from the cross, that those who bare him and the bearers who carried him brought for the body, and there, both of the first wrappings were taken place, but the ointments were first applied to the body. This was done very soon after the death itself, as the oils and the ointments of the chemicals within the same were used to cleanse the body, and then the body was wrapped much, as you would know, in a mummified state. After this was done, cloth that was soaked in the same ointment was used in such a manner as you would cover a body with a blanket.

"Now, as we have said before, as those who would come upon the morn, therefore they found within the tomb both shrouds, as you would know it. The true shroud would be that into which the body was wrapped of cloth. Yet, the second was also true, and this is which you have spoke about.

"The wrappings themselves were never recovered from the tomb.

"They were passed from living disciple to living disciple, yet there to stay with John in exile.
But the impression, or the picture form, which should show upon this shroud was a distorted, at best. Yet, if you should mix the same chemicals, secreting that which come from the body as the soul should leave the body and make ready for the resurrection, you shall find that it should give you picture form, much of the manner unto which you have.

"But you must understand, from boyhood to manhood, this one known as Jesus was touched by God, and therefore, as the scars of life should show upon each man and woman, so should the scars of goodliness, that which should become the blessed one, the Lamb of God."

I saw a video many yrs ago where a female PhD showed places on the shroud that recorded, in at least three distinct pulses of radiation, the movement of some metal item, worn by Jesus, as the radiation, and I believe, the resurrection, and His first few moments, occurred. (Would you please direct me to that video, if you know of it? TIA.)
I wonder how strong the radiation was that emanated from the body, and how long it lasted? Did it have any directionality? Did it emanate equally thru the body in all directions from a central point? Can we produce radiation that strong for that duration?

He should study the Bible more accurately. The fascination for the IMAGE obviousely makes blind.
According to the GOSPELS' CONTEXT the Shroud of Turin CANNOT BE the authentic burial cloth of Jesus Christ:
The Shroud cult starts with misleading biased Bible translations of the Greek word SINDON as "a linen shroud/sheet/cloth". But there is no indefinite article "a" in the original Greek texts of Matthew 27:59, Mark 15:46 and Luke 23:53, e.g.:
      Mark 15:46 ESV
"And Joseph bought a linen shroud ..."
In this case there are 3 Greek words only:
      "KAI AGORASAS SINDONA ..."
      This literally translated:
"And having bought linen cloth ..."
So, the CONTEXT is decisive and the correct unbiased translation/interpretation of SINDON must be "linen cloth" as general material description because Joseph of Arimathea bought ALL the needed burial linen cloth: bandages/strips (OTHONION) and the head cloth (SOUDARION).
And the apostle John didn't mention SINDON in his gospel because he also didn't mention the all-inclusive purchase of Joseph of Arimathea. Also the apostle John focused more on the burial and resurrection details and there is nothing described like the Shroud.
      John 19
39Nicodemus, who had previously come to Jesus at night, also brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds [32 KG]. 40So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen cloths [OTHONION] with [META] the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom. 41Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.
      John 20
5And stooping to look in, he [JOHN] saw the linen cloths [OTHONION] lying there, but he did not go in. 6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths [OTHONION] lying there, 7and the face cloth [SOUDARION], which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen cloths [OTHONION] but folded up in a place by itself.
Nicodemus organised about 32 kg burial spices. He was a leading Rabbi who knew WHAT was needed, HOW MUCH and that there was ENOUGH TIME to do the burial spicing that later should suppress the smell of decomposition. Jesus died around 3 pm and Sabbath started around 6 pm. Enough time to take the body from the cross, to wrap/bind the body in linen cloths (OTHONION) W I T H the spices between those bandages/strips according to the burial custom of Jews at that time. Jesus was transported to the nearby rock-tomb and laid in there. Nothing else was done in the tomb.
As described by the apostle John, the burial wrapping/spicing was completely done according to burial custom of Jews at that time. This was observed by the women. After Sabbath the women intended to anoint Jesus. ANOINTING is something completely different than the BURIAL SPICING and according to the New Testament it concerned mainly the head/hair, as an act of honour.
      Mark 16
1When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint [ALEIPSOSIN] him.
The head cloth (SOUDARION) fully covered the head and the rest of the body was wrapped/bound in linen cloths (OTHONION]) with the spices between those bandages/strips. The head cloth was part of the burial custom of Jews at that time. Once added, it remained on the head, as we can see in the gospel of John as well:
      John 11:44
44The man [Lazarus] who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth [SOUDARION]. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
Some commentators are mentioning a Jewish tradition that a master, when leaving a dining table, either left his napkin (SOUDARION) unfolded to say: "I am finished", or he folded it to say: "I will come back!"
I couldn't verify this tradition but it's a central pillar of Christian faith that Jesus will come back to establish His kingdom of peace.
As shown above, there is linguistically and logically NO EVIDENCE for something like the Shroud in the gospels. It clearly contradicts the burial custom of (rich) Jews at that time and it didn‘t play any role from the beginning of the real church of Christ/God. No Shroud was and is needed to believe in the resurrection and overall in Jesus Christ.

      1 Corinthians 15
1Now, brothers [siblings], I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, and in which you stand firm. 2By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5and that He appeared to Cephasa and then to the Twelve. 6After that, He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one of untimely birth.
All you have to know about Jesus Christ and for faith is in the Scripture. Read and trust the Bible:
      John 1
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
      John 3
16For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
36Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
      John 8
31Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
      John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
      1Joh 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
      John 14:23
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
      2 Timothy 3:16+17
ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN [Old and New Testament] by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
      John 14:26 (gospels)
But the Helper [comforter, PARACLETOS], the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
      John 15:26+27 (acts)
“But when the Helper [comforter, PARACLETOS] comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
      John 16;13 (epistles and revelation)
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
      Hebrew 4:12
For the WORD OF GOD is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
      1 Thessalonians 5:21
Test all things; hold fast what is good.

The face cloth of Jesus was wrapped around his head after he died. After Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus brought Jesus's body into the tomb it was removed and set aside. Jewish law states that anything with the blood of the deceased on it has to be buried with the body. That's all. No one ever put it back on Jesus again.

This is the first explanation for the image of the face being on the Shroud when the facecloth covered his face. It makes sense.
It does not affect my faith whether the Shroud is Jesus's burial cloth. My faith is based on eye witnisses accounts. The Gospels.
The Shroud may have been used to bury a man crucified in the ist century in Jerusalem. That does not prove that it was Jesus's Shroud.
If it was or if it wasn't artifacts are just things. Luther said that in his day there were enough "pieces of the true cross" to build a ship.
My faith is not in dead Jesus.
My faith is in Resurrected Jesus, my living God.

Only because Jesus sacrificed Himself can I escape the eternal punishment I truly deserve. You too
But Jesus is not still on the cross. He is not still in the tomb. The cross, symbol of faith in Him, is empty.

@MarkHorton-n3t Your mistaken Jesus's death on the cross is beyond time , as the book of revelation reveals :
      Revelation 5:6
[6]And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. ( John here sees Christ as a crucified one ) ,besides what does Paul teach ,whom you referred to:
      Galatians 3:1
[1]O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? ( Galatians here we're not at Calvary - but Paul alludes to a crucifixion like image made for them to reveal the truth to them).
      Paul Adds else where :
      1 Corinthians 1:18-20,22-24
[18]For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
[19]For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
[20]Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
      [22]For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom;
[23]but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,
[24]but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
( We preach Christ Crucified - okay the cross is at the centre of the gospel Paul was preaching ,Christ crucified - the crucifix is a sign of that gospel ), what else do you say Saint Paul:
      1 Corinthians 11:23,26
      [23]For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
[26]For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. ( What did you say Paul : in the Eucharist we proclaim the LORD'S death until he returns !! God bless you Paul).
What then shall we say : The cross of Jesus Christ is the way and the means of our redemption , his resurrection is the hope we have for our resurrection ,so the Apostolic church finds grace and peace in the death of Jesus Christ on the cross and look forward to His resurrection as the crown at the end . NO CROWN WITHOUT THE CROSS.AMEN)

@@balukuroben7458 Revelation is John relating a vision sent to him by God. Do you really think Jesus is spending eternity in the shape of a sacrificed lamb. Or speaks with a double edged sword sticking out of his mouth. The images in a vision are symbolic not literal. Jesus is fully human as well as fully God. Jesus appears in heaven as he appeared to more than 500 people after His Resurrection and before His assention as an ordinary man able to eat and drink, with the wounds of His crucifixion visible or as He appeared at the transfiguration in His glorified, incorruptible human body.
John saw Him as a lamb because Jesus is the Lamb of God. Both the model for the sacrifice of lambs for the atonement of sins and the last, and only effective, blood sacrifice for atonement.
Your other references refer to the cross and Jesus's death on it as an event that happened ONCE for all. Jesus atoned for my sin by dying on the cross once for all. He is not still dying. He died and is alive.
Yes no one could be saved without the Crucifixion. God's justice requires blood and a price we cannot pay. Jesus paid for us. But the Resurection is the proof.
Jesus did not stay dead and either will we. The Apostles and other believers thought the Crucifixion was the end, that all was lost. That Jesus, the Messiah, had failed. Until the Resurection. Remember the disciples Jesus walked with on the road away from Jerusalem. When they recognized Jesus they ran back to Jerusalem with the joyous news. Jesus IS the Messiah. Jesus IS alive. He IS who He said he is. If they were mistaken about the importance of the Resurection, they would not be in the Bible.
That is why Good Friday is importance as a memorial of the Crucifixion but Easter is more important as the celebration of the Resurection and the Gospel.

@MarkHorton-n3t Interesting to say that the Apocalypse is symbolic ,I thought you did not know , so if in heaven Jesus's death is still portrayed in visions after 60yrs ,then truly the message of his death is our power we who are saved ,so nothing should stop us from symbolizing and proclaiming his death. Notice that , the only thing we have been instructed by the Master is to remember his passion and death , during the Eucharistic celebration we precisely do so, but why this ? Because ,each time we profess his death ,we activate calvary ,and the power thereof sends Satan into oblivion, SATAN hates the crucifixion ,that is why he desires that people forget about it ,because that is the power that defeated him .

There are eyewitness accounts substantiating the claims that Jesus Christ was indeed crucified and put to death by the Roman authorities and then rose from the dead a few days later. Nobody has answered my question yet.
If God is all knowing and all powerful, and he put the tree of knowledge in the garden of Eden, he knew Adam and Eve were going to eat the fruit. Then when they did, he curses humanity with death. Then he sends his son to be murdered as an atonement for Adam and Eve's disobedience so humanity can get back into his good graces.
My question is, are you people INSANE to believe this is a deity of LOVE? Reading the Bible, this deity doesn't sound like a deity of love AT ALL.
Either I'm insane or you are. We both cannot be sane and think this is somehow okay.
Now, the official position is God's son is God himself. So, you're telling me the Jesus is Yahweh? Well, how come he didn't simply tell Moses his name is Jesus? The only answer you can give is speculative, because you don't know, and you can't know, because there's no reason why given in the Bible, so any answer you give is purely your own speculation - because NOBODY knows.
The Trinity is a speculation and doctrine of Man, it is not found in the Bible. It was derived many, many years after the life and death of Jesus.
The 4 gospels begin with Mark being the first written (which wasn't even written by Mark). Mark's premise is that Jesus was a preacher who preached a return to the law and that the kingdom of Heaven is at hand and to repent. John is the last book, written around 100 AD. It's premise is that Jesus is God. So, Christianity's narrative went from a man preaching the return to the law in Mark, to that same man is now God himself in John (which like Mark, wasn't even written by John), around 100 years later.
All of the gospels start embellishing Jesus. But to go from a humble preacher in Galilee preaching a return to the law to said preacher being God himself in the span of around 100 years is quite a stretch. Imagine somebody today started writing that Billy Graham was a humble preacher who preached repentance. Then subsequent a couple of books are written about him that embellishes him. Then around the year 2100, somebody wrote a book that claimed he was God. The actual deity. The creator of everything.
This is the most confusing Pantheon in the world. Where's Ashera? Why were women demoted?
    "Thou Shalt Not Kill"
How many times did God kill people in the Bible?
How many times did God command people to kill other people in the Bible?
How many times did God command his angels to kill people in the Bible?
I suppose in the minds of the INSANE that its somehow justified as long as God did it or command it be done.
And this is your idea of a God of love?
Are you out of your minds?
    It's a serious question.
Look at the weapons you're providing for the MASS MURDER going on. I suppose in a few years somebody is going to write a book called "Deus Vult" that's going to put lipstick on that pig.
And it'll be justified as an act of that God.

They estimate it would take a pulse lasting one *forty billionth* of a second of uv radiation on the order of several billion watts of power. Clearly, obviously supernatural. Cannot be done by modern man. Probably the single most amazing part of the shroud. It broke the carbon bonds of the top layer of the fibrals, turning them into double-bonds.

@ The steps for carbon dating, also known as C14 dating, involve: collecting a sample from the organic material, cleaning it to remove contaminants, converting it to a measurable form (like carbon dioxide), measuring the ratio of Carbon-14 to Carbon-12 using a specialized instrument like an Accelerator Mass Spectrometer (AMS), and then calculating the age based on the known half-life of Carbon-14 (5,730 years).

@@dw8134Red ochre (iron oxide) and vermilion (mercury sulfide) pigments were found on the fibers. Watch the video 'The mystery of the Shroud of Turin with Walter C.McCrone'. He was a highly respected and influential microscopist, often referred to as the 'father of modern microscopy' due to his extensive work. McCrone analyzed fibers from both the edges and the image itself. Watching the suggested video will reveal his analysis papers, showing results and values from the image areas. He believed that iron oxide was used for the body image and a mixture of iron oxide and vermilion was used for the "blood" marks. The assertion by some proponents of the Shroud's authenticity that he did not examine the image is false, as they wish to maintain its genuineness. McCrone explained that the only colored materials he found on the Shroud, including in the image areas, were inorganic pigments (not blood) and the yellowing of the medium. This evidence clearly shows that the Shroud of Turin is a medieval artwork used as a forgery.

    • @tobias4411
      @tobias4411 2 месяца назад

Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) are intriguing but do not prove anything supernatural or the existence of a deity. Although difficult to explain, theories include visits from extraterrestrial civilizations for exploration or observation on Earth, secret advanced human technology, autonomous drones by sophisticated AI systems from our own world, or psychological and cultural influences. Media portrayals and historical contexts, like Cold War tensions or shows like "X-Files," can lead to misinterpretations of ordinary objects as UAPs. While pilots report UAPs, adding credibility, many are later identified as mundane objects like drones or balloons. The psychological impact of sightings can also transform witnesses' perceptions and beliefs.

Today, no intelligent person with even a smattering of common sense is going to call the Holy Shroud a medieval fake. That's just impossible. A new study overseen by Dr. Liberato de Caro of Italy’s Institute of Crystallography of the National Research Council, in Bari has concluded that the Shroud of Turin dates to the first century. In a report published on the website of Italy’s Department of Chemical Sciences and Materials Technologies, de Caro outlined the “Wide-Angle X-ray Scattering” or WAXS method they used, which measures the structural degradation due to natural aging of the cellulose that makes up the fibers of the linen threads. This process, which is non-destructive, was used on a variety of historical textiles which have well-documented ages, and then compared to the Shroud of Turin; the best match was with a piece of fabric from ca. AD 55-74 known to have come from the siege of Masada in Israel. The new dating contradicts the 1988 carbon-14 test of fabric threads from the shroud, which dated the relic to the Middle Ages. Critics have long pointed out that that test was flawed, as it came from an area of the fabric that was repaired in the Middle Ages. The new study also notes that ancient textiles can become contaminated with substances over time that could distort carbon-14 results. The new findings show that the fabric of the Shroud of Turin originated at the time of Christ.
