@@micahnewby7964 Deadlands gets very specific about their undead, and zombie isn't even one of them (it's a voodoo-controlled thrall). Walking Dead, Harrowed, etc. Plenty of options.
What I love about Andy running Deadlands is just how accurately he lines the World up with the Genre. Back in the 1800- Early 1900's, Hospitals, Doctor's Offices and Sanitariums used to prescribe Cocaine(AKA Opium or China Powder) as an over the counter relaxant for Patients that we're constantly jittery or in mild pain. He was also right in how different the Rich and Poor got treated medically, it was a VERY lopsided system. Mike and Ellen have a right to be absolutely terrified of this place cause, if Andy keeps being this accurate with the setting lore he's turning this Sanitarium into the the Unholy Lovechild of Silence Hill & One Flew Over The Cookcoo's Nest.....
@@octochan I know and that's what I love about this Campaign so far. It's easier to nail the Horror aspect of Deadlands once you read through the Campaign Setting a couple of times, it's much harder to get the Western Genre aspect of it down. Take the Video Game Silent Hill for example; it's a near perfect example of a Deadlands: Noire game(yes, they actually have a 50's Detective era version of this game) in that it presents Us with a Mystery wrapped up in a Lovecraftian Horror coating. With a Western story, you have to be able to hit certain Tropes of both the genre(gunfights at high noon, heavy gambling and just a low general sense of lawlessness) and keep it Timeframe accurate(Fastest mode if travel being by train, no knowledge of medical practices past 1899, Tension still high as it's usually just 2-3 years after the Civil War or it's still ongoing in the case of Deadlands, most folks thinking that a shot of liquor is better for you than drinking Water, people considering $50.00 to be absolutely Wealthy, etc.) or you'll lose what makes Western Horror such a captivating sub-genre of TTRPG's. It's also why I think Andy was the best choice to run this campaign....
I think you meant Heroin rather than Cocaine, since Heroin is refined Opium (and Cocaine certainly wouldn't make someone relaxed). Other than that: Yep.

Been sleeping on this and finally binge up to this episode...and now there's no more! I should have slept longer!
Stellar work by Mike, Ellen and Andy! Also, kudos to the costumes- I'm guessing they each did their own or was there some professional help involved?
I know Johnny mentioned they had some of their planned costume stolen in a mail theft incident. So I think they are mostly self sourced costumes, although that's just one anecdote.
@@Darkfiretiger when did they mention that? It's kinda crazy lol
@@nahuelmat one of their game streams I think it was hard west 2 on Johnny's personal channel.
15:36 - ellen realizing she accidentally just said a random pokemon instead of the guy's name 😂
I kinda wanted to try listening to Deadlands while working out at home because I don't have much free time but tbh I would've hurt myself because I've been laughing so hard 😭😭😭
These two were in rare form here, absolutely fantastic.
So many good accents, faces and roleplayings in this one!
Mike is going to go down is the best D&D player of all time, first a paladin that doesn't paladin, and now a cowboy afraid of horses, it's some of the funniest dagum stuff I've ever did hear.
Silas is not a cowboy, though. Silas is former law enforcement turned bounty hunter, according to his own intro in Ch.1.
Cowboys are essentially cattle herders and ranchers.
Let's not forget the "adventurer" who was always more focused on spiffy jackets and expensive bourbon than actual adventuring, but somehow managed to only screws things up _sometimes_ and other times pull off some wild ideas to save the day 🤣
Silas acting all fancy like has been one of the best parts of this series so far.
"Do you have any cocaine?"
While I know its done intentionally the laughs he gets with the "weaknesses" he gives his characters are always amazing.
@@KP-br8tm I live in the LITERAL Old West. Seriously, we have a highway called the John Wayne Parkway. I've been to the O.K. Corral... I know what a Cowboy is, sir and/or madam lol.
Edie’s giving me Kate O’Hara vibes from Desperados-
"Extraction specialist & Dr Harker." They're definitely vampires
Actually really glad there will be a part two for this one as well! I was worried having one less player would mean less time!
New episode on my 30th birthday... The dilemma of doing what society wants me to do and go outside. Or what I want to do which is stay in and watch YT like any normal day
Happy birthday stranger, that's a tough decision you got there partner. 🤠 Best of luck to you.
Society or family? Because I don't think the society at large knows that it will be your birthday 😅 Happy early birthday, though, hopefully it will be a good one regardless of what you decide 😄
@@backonlazer791well a bit a both, I just meant how in general you're expected to go out and celebrate the anniversary of being expelled out of a birth canal. Me personally... Meh. I could take it or leave it
@@swivvy3037 Friend, I'm guessing you've never had a birthday celebrated how you wanted, so go do what you want and if anyone doesn't like it give them the bird.
Why not both?
Ellen's whole look was great, but I think I'm most in love with Mike's hat! If I wore hats, I'd be jealous of that hat! :)
Aside: I just remembered that Jane ran a one-shot at a live show in Australia, so really, the whole crew has been a GM now!
I think they used the wrong intro on this one. It mentions the "treatment area" which they don't get the key for until the end.
Absolutely LOVE this playthrough. Great work guys!
Mike and Ellen have such a great dynamic - love it when they get to play off of each other like this! Also, did anyone else think of Hobb's Barrow when they heard the name of the sanatorium?
I decided to rewatch this, and MAN does Andy do a good job at voice acting Dr.Harker! That sounds so ominous and cool!
The sound effects when the head explodes! Blech! 1:15:43..... And then when the body falls! Top notch!
loved Mike's commitment to the patient character but i think top performance has to go to the kid that worked in the saloon
I can’t get over how fetching Ellen is this episode ❤❤❤
She's great
I like to imagine that Edie Valentine is an ancestor of Jill Valentine and the lock-picking set is a family heirloom.
That would work if Resident Evil took place with the Weird West.
@@unevennoble9363 In RE lore they find all kinds of wierd stuff lying around - like the Mold in Village or the Las Plaguas in 4, so who's to say that the West wasn't wierd in the Resident Evil timeline?
@@TotallyNotAFox are there wendigoes and Tumblebleeds?
@@unevennoble9363 Who knows, so far there wasn't a RE game that played in that kind of region
Isn't hobb's end that non-euclidean British neighborhood from the cthulu mythos where that junior constable goes insane in the cthulu mythos?
Lol I can't get enough of the DnD series......
@.@ I want y'all to keep making them but out of love and the time to do so - these are so good because of how much chemistry the whole group has
I'm really loving this series, everyone's playing amazing characters and Andy is doing a great job as a marshal.
...As a small side note, those dice look pretty but also not the easiest to read, as it's usual with dice with that sort of elaborate 3d design; and I wasn't really surprised that almost every time you rolled you had to take an extra moment to figure out what you scored :P
Exactly my thoughts on the dice. Also, I hate the light clinky sound they make. Dice shouldn't be hollow...
Mike channeling big "Howlin Mad" Murdock energy in this episode with his fancy man.
Y'all look and sound great! By far my favorite episode of the last several seasons!
The acting and accents are on point in this episode
Could they have easily edited out the moment Mike drools on himself and they both break character? Yes, but I’m glad they didn’t 😂
Ellen and Mike make such a good team. Remembers me off their first score in BitD.
And I just want to say: The sound effects are really amazing. I love how you keep everything a little bit different for each game.
the best part of oxventure deadlands is very British people trying oh so hard to sound American
I’m just doing a rewatch of the series and the foreshadowing at 3:28! Amazing job.
