- Ron Shipp was previously Los Angeles Police officer, who is known for his friendship with OJ Simpson and his involvement in the OJ Simpson's trial. Ron Shipp wrote an ebook about his life called The Heart Behind the Badge.
In 1974, Ron joined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). In 1989, after 15 years with the department, he left the LAPD to seek a new job interest. Ron is married to his high school sweetheart, Nina, and they live in Santa Clarita, California. Their daughter, Danielle, and sons, Dio and David, also reside in California. [1]
Ron Shipp was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He is fifth out of six children (Skip, Cissy, Mike, Tommy, and Tony) born to Claude and Davetta Shipp. He attended Hamilton High School and played football for Hall of Fame football coach, Jack Epstein. After receiving All Western League Conference and All South Bay honors for the Hamilton High School Yankees, Ron went on to East Los Angeles College and furthered his football career in 1970. In 1972, he transferred to the USC and joined the football team as a walk on.
O.J Simpson
Ron Shipp first met OJ Simpson at an all-star banquet in Los Angeles, California. When OJ got introduced for his speech, the first thing he said was, “Before I get started, I want to know where Ron Shipp is.” He asked if I was Michael Shipp’s brother. He said, “I know if Ron is any kind of athlete like Mike, he must be a great athlete.”
Shipp also attended OJ Simpson and Nicole Simpson's wedding. At first he thought they were the greatest couple and completely in love.
In 1989, Ron was working as an LAPD officer when Nicole Simpson called 911 about OJ Simpson trying to kill her and committing dosmetic abuse. Nicole Simpson later told Ron about that OJ had abused her several times and showed him photos f the batteries.
Nicole also told Shipp about a story how she mentioned to O.J. that she thought Tom Cruise was handsome.
After she told him that, she wasn’t allowed to mention his name ever again or go to his movies.
She also told him that OJ was spying her.
After Nicole's death and when OJ was suspected as the killer, Shipp met with OJ and talked to him. He saw that OJ had cuts on his hand which was suspicious since he knew that killer's often get cuts when they stab someone. When he asked OJ about it, OJ said he cut his hand on glass while in Chicago, Illinois, however he gave three different explanations afterwards. Later OJ asked Shipp how long DNA test results take which helped convince him that OJ Simpson was responsible for killing Nicole Simpson.
After Chris Darden a prosecutor in the OJ Simpson case left the homicide book with photos of the aftermath of Nicole and her boyfriend's murder. After seeing the homicide book Shipp was horrified since he viewed Nicole Simpson as a his little sister and decided to join the trial as a prosecution witness.
In the case, Ron Shipp testified saying that OJ Simpson told him he had had dreams of killing Brown Simpson.
At the premiere of ESPN’s “O.J.
Simpson: Made in America” documentary, Shipp said that he thought OJ Simpson might to confess the murders since he was close to his mother who was very religious.
I respect you Ron Shipp!! Don’t ever feel guilty for standing up to OJ on the stand. One of the few that did! It’s so obvious to me you were absolutely telling the truth then and now. God bless
The sad part that angered the Black people was, Ron Shipp actually did not have to get involved!! He wasn't even compelled to SAy anything at all! Shipp chose to take sides against the people that he was supposed to be friends with....In my opinion, Ron turned his back on the entire Simpson immediate & extended family...there was No need to volunteer to bring OJ down.
well unless you’re friends with the murder victim too and wanted to do the right thing…. ??????
@@daviddavis3389 he did what was right which ain't about no color or taking sides.
I respect you Ron Shipp!! Don’t ever feel guilty about telling the truth and one of the few to actually stand up to OJ and did the right thing on the stand! God bless
Look at the disgust Gumbel has on his face at 0:48 for Shipp, just because he told the truth.

“Only one life will soon be past;
Only whats done for Christ will last.”
God bless you Ron Shipp! You are in our prayers still. 🙏🏼🙏🏾🙏🏽

So glad to see that news guy gone! Never ever cared for him in the least! 🙄
according to ron shipp book " the heart behind the badge" prosecutor chris darden leaves shipp alone and makes him wait over 20 minutes... facing the prosecutors desk, he says ron shipp says he is nervous suspicious, he believes darden is playing mind minds with him. shipp compares this waiting fame with is own experiences as a cop who had dealt with criminals himself and used the same techniques to, " take down their defenses to get the to confess" " to a crime. he also says darden left a photo album with nicole and ron goldmans names on a cover lying on a top of his desk as a test for shipp, to seee if shipp is curious enough to open it. its the homicide book that contains the autopsy photographs of ron and nicole as well as photos of the murder scene. shipp takes the bait and opens the photo album. does darden believe this is the first time shipp has seen nicole and ron bloody corpses? hmmm things that make you go hmmm nope i believe he was there that night of the murders!!
Gumbell takes himself so serious.
Bryant was so arrogant.
Bryan GumbeLL has been around black people all his life and he knew that Shipp would be persecuted for his FooLish decision and a price to pay would should've been automatically expected from Shipp!! GumbeLL is No dumby.

The #1 reason that Ron Shipp has eeceived so much backlass from the Black community was because Shipp was viewed as a trader/ a person used to do their bidding! He willingly inserted himself into business the had nothing to do with him!! They felt like that was pathetic that be would volunteer his services that he knew couldve been instremental into outting OJ Lockedup for life!! No only that reason, people Loved OJ, so when he chose to do that, he was taking sides against them.. Ron Shipp had been maskerating around as if he was OJs friend and confidant...Nobody respects anybody that does that!
ron shipp liar liar about the dream you said OJ TOLD you
Ron is a good man & he did not lie. Shame on you. Yr in my prayers too.🙏🏾
