Sammy has gone through all his hits and only 1 was not a mafia man or another armed criminal. They are all told from the start "break these rules and you die". When he was given a contract he fulfilled it or died himself. "The Life" look into it.

To answer the question as to why the family names don’t always change accordingly with the new boss, the names of the five New York families that we know today we’re labeled as that by the government in 1963 when Joe Valachi testified. The five heads of the family at that time were Joe Colombo, Carlo Gambino, Joe Bonanno, Tommy Lucchese and Vito Genovese. This makes it less confusing for the FEDs.
Colombo is named after the police detective, he discovered the existince of the family during his investegation of the murder of the widow with three legs

So a note on the naming of the families. Sammy has a point that you'd never want your name broadcast in such a way. The naming of the families was really started around the Joe Valachi testimony. Remember, before that, the existence of the mafia was questioned by many and not widely accepted as "truth." So this is the first time the American public heard of these organizations with official heads/titles. They were literally broadcast on these big charts with "(Current Boss's Name) Family" in bold letters across the top (you can still find these online). After that, the media started calling families by these names, and they eventually stuck. If you look at the names of the families they almost all coincide with the 1963 testimony of Valachi with the exception of the Magliocco Family. The reason being was that this family was in flux at the time. It was at war with itself (first Gallo War), and Magliocco was sanctioned for planning a takeover with Bonanno and Colombo was named boss for alerting the other heads. This all happened right around 1963 as well. So by the time it really started circulating in the media and public, the boss was actually Joe Colombo (Colombo may have even been boss at the time of the testimony, but Valachi, being in prison, may have been unaware, it all happened around the same time). That's why his name is the major exception on the charts. If you look at basically any other family across the country (sans the Outfit or the Partnership/Combination in Detroit as they had their own unique names) they will match the leader of 1963 ish. Genovese, Gambino, Lucchese, Bonanno, Bruno, Bufalino, LaRocca, Maggadino, Trafficante, Marcello, DeCavalcante, Patriarca, Civella etc. You'll notice outside of New York though, there is a little liberty and sometimes the names will be after another more famous leader like the Philly family (which was the Bruno family) is sometimes called the Bruno/Scarfo Family (the Philly Family was very popular in the media under Scarfo because of the wars that went on so it eventually stuck). Sometimes I've heard the Pgh Family called LaRocca/Genovese. Sammy's intuition is right in that no one voluntarily stuck their name there. In short, to Cosa Nostra members, it was always just "The Family." No sense in putting someone's name on it as it increases exposure, and it's not based on bloodlines (for the most part). This actually happened by way of government, media, and pop culture, and it stuck. Remember, this is essentially how they were "introduced" to the public. I suspect the names were particularly prevalent in NYC for kind of obvious reasons (you'll notice in NYC the names take on a much more official tone). There are multiple families, so these names act as a necessary differentiator. In every other city, there is one family, so nomenclature matters less. Everyone is on the same team. So many lesser known families are often referred to by their city name.
By the way BigP, the ole man Sammy sound's to be in repentance, so we got to let him live brother. "Sins of the father, wages on the son." The Godfather Mr G. moved my spirit like Tupac Shakur did. You killed 19 including your best friend who was one of the last old school mafioso's Louie Milito (Read: "Mafia Wife" by Lynda Milito Louie's wife) & he admits as much in his Bio "Underboss". Both good reads but Lynda's is the best I've ever read from a wife's perspective because since Louie was killed by Sammy Rat she didn't have to hide anything to protect her husband from prosecution. And Louie was no Angel. He was a made man under Big Paul before Gotti & Sam Rat killed Paul & broke Mafia code so severely that Vincent "The Chin" Gigante (The Crazy Don who walked around talking to poles in a bath robe to cover up the fact he was a Boss for the Genovese on the Commision) tried to blow up Gotti, Shoot him, Etc until the commish called him off. The Rat killed his best friend because John & Rat knew that Louie respected omerta & wouldn't go along with assassinating the boss & there was a chance that if Paul retired Milito would have been made boss. If so the Gambino's would have been a lot stronger today than the frauds they are today. He would have gotten rid of John & controlled Rat just as John did. Look these guy's knew what they were in & what happens. If they played by the rules only those involved & their unfortunate families were hurt. If you got caught you shut up & did your time. Like Gotti did. But this Rat who should not be able to be buying diamond pinky rings & getting rich off murdering people & being a rat. He also just threatened the interviewer for asking a question about things in Movies compared to Reality.

I'm fairly sure most people on earth have walked through a dark alley alone lol it's not exactly where I'd set the bar for being tough...
Great interview. Gravano is an interesting guy & I've been listening to 'Our Thing' which is really good. But these ads!! Wtf? So dumb it hurts - but the bucks are rolling in and you grab all you can get. Thankfull for the 'Skip Ads' button.

Enjoyed this even though I’ve heard most of these stories already.
Sammy’s the best story teller. Lived a pretty exciting life.
He's a professional story teller , all that time with the fbi taught him that, sit him down unscripted and he falls apart, all of his stories he's the bigger smarter dude, if he was so smart he wouldn't have been caught if he was so smart he would have got out, 19 murders and he's glorified by people here, have some respect for the family of the dead
He wasn’t killing innocent people lol. He was killing other killers.
@@chrispower448 what a stupid view
@@chrispower448 So that makes it right lol ?? And I’m guessing that’s what he told you ….? That he was killing other killers ? What’s the difference from rappers killing and sending hits …? There only trying to kill the killers right ?? By your logic . It’s CLEARLY a big race Split between black and white because we all know for a FACT if he was black he would have been killed or in prison for the rest of his life . Since when could you kill 19 people and get away with it …? Tf
Sammy is great at embellishing stories..
He’s also great at looking like chemo nerd with saggy and flappity tattoos
@@rudyray4833 tough guy behind a keyboard with no picture, just an R to hide behind. Must not like the way you look . He’s old and probably still looks better than you , and would still be able to put a hurtin on you .
Were you there
I now recognize this whole organization as a complete failure
A secret society that the whole world knows about?
Extremely flawed concept
He didnt kill anyone? He killed a 15 year old boy, he dont like to talk about that :)
RIP ALAN KAISER 🙏
WTF , You just wrote a short story, any longer it would be a Non fiction Book !!!
" IN SHORT" you're a book writer if not you should be seriously!!!!
Godfather Salute, your teaching are amazing, I'm studying you super close. I speak truth!! Thank God for the internet!!🤙#MENOFHONOR#
Not tryin to break your balls, but Sammy don’t have an OZ of honor. Quite the opposite. But that’s just my opinion ✌🏼
@@bigpoppa3277 you would need to hear his side of the story family, one love.
By the way BigP, the ole man Sammy sound's to be in repentance, so we got to let him live brother. "Sins of the father, wages on the son." The Godfather Mr G. moved my spirit like Tupac Shakur did. anybody that thinks this guy should not be in prison for the rest of his life. you are a joke .telling old mob stories for that money .
36:42 Sammy literally put his kids away in prison when he got popped with the ecstasy case in Arizona and cooperated against em. Hilarious. Sammy's gettin a short memory.
It was Sammy's son that started dealing first but was not making much money and Sammy came in and took it to the next level.
Thats not true
@@francisrowles2461 sorry but it is.
As per freedom of information act.. THAT'S NOT TRUE
Yea sammy is weak , he talks like he can't do no wrong , always making excuses like gotti was trash talking or he killed Paul because he lost respect because he was banging his maid , sammy was a gangster until his co defendent was a real gangster !!!
Sammy the "Bull" Gravona you did your time you faced your demons now it's time for the families to let you live your life peacefully june donovan
Sammy Rat talked about a vicious attack upon someone for asking a question & warned this guy he'd do the same to him which shows how out of touch he is. I don't hurt elderly people but if you attacked me you'd be broke in 4. So here you go SAMRAT "WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BROKEBACK COWBOY. I KNOW YOU LOVED THOSE HORSES AT YOUR RANCH & WEEKENDS ALONE WITH THE WRANGLERS or just a low life making $ on you tube based on Murder stories & bragging about it. That money needs to go to your victims. Not Mafia guys but people like Lynda, her beautiful daughter & little Louie. Those are your victims. You shit on her after you took her husband & the father of kids who called you Uncle Sammy. So you chased her out of town. Took her husbands last earnings & liquidated her assets & gave her a couple grand. You're a sad, weak old man. I will make sure you do not make money on Social Media Again. You break every community guideline. There's good people who actually work hard on their channels & are demonetized. You will too. We are tougher than the mob or courts. We are YOU-TUBE
Your right on target 🎯 Gravano lies he a serial killer not only did he kill his closest friends but what about the innocent 16 year old innocent child he murdered in cold blood 🩸 my brother Alan Kaiser almost 44 years later I’m still reliving this over and over again he’s a horrible disgusting excuse for a human being and justice will prevail 🙌🏻 #JusticeForAlanKaiser 🙏🏻

And in most cases the people who are cut out like cancer needed to be cut out by the honorable. And bombs your right. 100% and another honorable thing you did looked out for people that nobody else would give time and effort to lookout for. Honestly I could lesson to Sammy over and over again and still be interested to hear more. God has given him this gift so that he is always fresh no matter if you've heard him a billion times. So I would say the only way I could stand being in a room for a long time would be if I could listen to Sammy...God bless him
