Well done job by the interviewer. Non-interruptive, actively listens, supports with open ended questions without the interviewee having to ask. Why is this so hard for so many interviewers nowadays?
I knew this Spanish kid from the bronx i grew up with in the 80s. Long story Short, they fiund 15 million dollars in his room on shoe boxes, a few high end cars, one was called the James bond car because of the gadgets. Humble cool and collective individual. Still in the feds until this day. So many stories like this from the inner cities of New York. Fascinating!
It's not about being fair. This government wants to see this country and everyone in it absolutely destroyed. They want you broke, miserable, 2 paychecks away from poverty, your children brainwashed to hate you, and they think it's funny.

I totally think the New York Board of ED was corrupted taking the schools funds paid by the taxpayers to pay for the special ED teaches programs. Can you imagine have children not being able to finish the 12 years of school here in United States? That was a shocker for me.
I loved how honest Sammy was. With only an 8th grade education. He was very educated & compassionate & smart. I was impressed with how he grew up. He is man enough to admit his wrongs.

I like Sammy after watching this. I get exactly what he was saying about bringing the girlfriend and the wife in the same restaurant and the disrespect Castellano had with his maid and wife under the same roof.
Thats also a little bit to justify what he did,Paul Castellano didnt do them wrong they killed him because they knew that selling drugs was a big NO GO.Paul was not perfect but a old-school gangster with rules
I have to say, The Bull has made me rethink a lot of what I saw the Mafia to be. The way he explained HIS point of view on how life was is amazing. I too am a veteran, so when he compared what they did to a soldier in a war, I completely understand orders. I have done things people have nightmares about, but I did them for self-preservation and because I was ordered to do it. I also liked how he spoke about the children in America and how they turn out is about their upbringing. I agree wholeheartedly. So, to answer your question, yes, Sammy helped me look at their lifestyle a little differently. Great episode!
They need to get as many interviews with Sammy as possible. This is the last of the dying breed of Old School Real Mafia guys that have incredible stories.. Plus he explains them so well.. Sammy & Franzese are the best interviews !!!
One thing about Sammy like him or not which I happen to like him after hearing his side of the story is he is honest about how he feels and that is becoming a rare thing in this day and age
The biggest thing that stood out for me in this interview is the fact, that we all become or are a product of our environment. Sammy seemed honest and the host was interesting and intelligent in how he allowed Sammy to explore and express himself without interfering in the discussion or process. Good program!
This display of wisdom in this interview is unmatched by any other interview ever posted on the Internet. Be grateful a guy in these circumstances is able to be so honest and help educate despite the risk of death by every word he says.
Tbh, the ignorant people speaking on banning guns know nothing about guns you could hand them a gun and they wouldn’t even know where to start with loading it. They don’t understand how any of this works. I feel sorry for them because they don’t know but at the same time, It sucks they get to be heard when they’re so uneducated and most of them are stubborn which just makes them dumb fucks at that point.
Interesting to hear a guy in the position Sammy is in and he is talking about racism and how bad it was in the South - and that he wasn’t okay with it. That deserves respect.
read his autobiography back in 98. Call him a rat or whatever but what exactly would YOU have done if some pompous asshole was trying to pin everything on you? Sammy was a stand up guy, period. John Gotti was hands down one of the worst bosses in the history of the mafia.
@jeff This is literally the best interview I've ever seen by anybody. Not so much because of the interviewer, but because Sammy is a great storyteller....quick and direct to the point with no bullshit. He tells it like it is with no filter. I think he realizes and recognizes the mistakes he made in the past by killing people and that's a something that he can't change, but he seems to have turned his life around for the better.
jeff Sammy refuted that assertion in the interview. Was he lying? Do you have proof otherwise? He got offended when Patrick put that to him and went on to say everybody from the top to the bottom made money and he stitched no one. He seemed proud when he said he paid a $250K debt instead of gangstering them and then a year later he got a huge contract because of that. Curious as to your comment I am 🤔
These mob interviews are interesting as hell. I've watched every one of the ones with Michael Franzese. Patrick is a great interviewer as well. Keep these coming guys.
Just the caption with Michael bothers me; Highest paid mob boss. He was never a mob boss or even underboss. Just keep it real. It's allready interesting enough.
@@Dogman84 have u seen Goodfellas? And it's in the book "Wiseguy" too as he refers to Paul Vario as "the BOSS over everybody in the neighborhood". Just like Sammy in this interview refers to the Capos as "Heavyweight" gangsters! I understand what u mean tho that he was never the actual Colombo Family "Boss" or "UnderBoss" but Capos have a crew of actual "Soldiers" who are "Mademen" who report to them and are their first "Boss" that they kick up to and the Capos kick some of that up to the Underboss and Boss! It's Chain of Command and they are the Soldiers first Boss who they report and kick up to! And there was an article in Time? Magazine I believe it was and the title of the article was "The 50 Top Mob Bosses in America" and Franzese was on that list while still active in "the life" and they said he made as much or more money for La Cosa Nostra since Al Capone with bootlegging! And of course it was from his Gasoline tax scheme where he was bringing Carmine Persico Jr 2 million dollars a week! And this was the late 70's and early 80's so I can only imagine it would have to be like 10 million dollars today! Lol crazy
Scrolling through the comments and boy, yall sure didn’t disappoint!!! You can call him whatever the heck you want, this man has lived a life 99.999% of you could never. I said it before and I will again.... call him that to his face. Even at 74, I bet you thumb thuggers wouldn’t. He has a right to tell his story about how he feels. You didn’t know Gotti personally. Hell his own family didn’t know the street Gotti. I’m not picking sides because I wasn’t there. But he has every right to tell his side. And no matter where/ how he does it, I’m gonna be there to support.
Lot of middle class dudes that never had a hard day in their life They also didn't murder, extort, cajole, steal, beat people to a pulp and other kinds of things.
@@joetheblu3 he actually admitted to all 19 murders, they let him off on the murders cuz he "cooperated", while in witness protection he got caught up in a ecstasy ring and he seemed the time for that cuz they didn't get him on the murders.
My take on this is that corrupt politicians do us more harm (collectively) because we have some default expectation that they will spend at least some of their time attempting to make life better for constituents. When they do the opposite, people are manipulated to accept the corruption as the status quo. On the other hand, only an idiot thinks the mob cares one iota about any unaffiliated person. The public will always be their cloak and their leverage.
I guess that excuses him. Who ever heard of a mobster talking about how politicians are just as guilty? This has never been done a million times before.
I’ve never hit the reminder button for any reason on RUclips until now. I have no issue with what he did. Gotti wasn’t loyal to him so why should he be
What about the tons of other guys he testified against and told on,your not seeing the whole picture,Gotti is irrelevant cause the feds really didn't need Sammy to convict John,he sunk his own ship with his big mouth!
I agree with @hadsome express- I’m an Italian woman & we were taught never to open our mouths, don’t draw attention, don’t discuss our personal business….and my dad wasn’t in the mafia ! Gotti is so disrespectful it’s bothersome! I did change my opinion about Sammy- although I don’t agree with physical violence, he made it very clear that it was amongst the families or those involved with them. Like today’s gang fights, poor innocent kids and others are getting killed drive-bys. Sammy reminded me about the respect the original families had for women and children - innocent men, civilians. As well; I didn’t realize how much Gotti turned on him. I like Sammy!
Yep also as a young lady I was taught to know my place if the men were talking you went in another room unless you were invited and you kept your mouth shut. Not sure if that was because that was the sicilian way or just a southern thing but either way we learned to keep our mouths shut and do as your told no questions lol.
Absolutely agree. It’s interesting how his views range from left to right. Regardless, this was the one interview I’ve watched 100% from beginning to end. Sammy got my respect, definitely. Im from Chicago so am more a fan of the outfit, but Sammy has everyone’s respect. Well done Patrick. Man. Absolutely outstanding.

I’ve watched it twice now.

I concur with your assessment

@@Dogman84 have u seen Goodfellas? And it's in the book "Wiseguy" too as he refers to Paul Vario as "the BOSS over everybody in the neighborhood". I've never listened to an interview so attentively. This was seriously great
He was dead on when it comes to the rico law. So many politicians are 100 times more crooked as a mobster any day.
