    Thank you so much for expanding our horizons with this educational video. My mind is blown. I grew up on a farm... More like Andrew is managing. The simpler way.
    When I see bobcats, bale spears, ect I think how much longer in his life my dad could have farmed as he aged. I swear it was his having to give it up, because of physical restraints, that was his demise. Farming was his passion, his calling. Take that away, what is left for a man?
    That dairy set up is amazing. I tremble to think of the cost. But perhaps cheaper in the long run than hiring the help to do it all manually? (If you could find someone to work!)

    Thanks Ben,it’s been 17 short years since we sold out. Those robots are quite fascinating. I wish those fellows the best it’s a demanding occupation,but quite rewarding in many ways also. This country needs more dairy’s there size to show folks what dedication is. Take care all !!!

    Work on a family dairy farm in Winnebago, Illinois since 1989. Used a transfer bucket , to a pipeline milking to the last 20 years milking in a parlor, 8 on each side. 16 total. Easier on the back. Milk 2x a day, 7 days a week. No vacation!

    I'm from Wisconsin.Thier getting more and more 5000 head dairy farms here. I have family that milk.Milking cows is a 24-7 job.Hard work too. Hats off to all dairy farmers!! Thanks 😊.

    Hi Ben ! Good to see new ways of dairy farming . At one time I had to milked a cow by hand when I was in 4th and 5th grade . I was not as fast as that robot !

    Ran that mixer wagon many a time. An interesting fact we used to have that 4430 on the mixer. 💪

    I grew up just down I-35 from Leon in Bethany Mo. We are luck that there are young farmers that want to put in the long hours that it takes to keep a dairy farm going. So many have gone to beef cattle and row crop or even gone under. Great video Ben!

    Very informative, Ben. Thank you! The first time I saw a milking robot was in Northern Germany in 2007. It sure does free up more time for the farmer.

    Thanks Ben for that video I didn’t know they used Robots to milk cows we used to milk with milking machines when I was a kid on the farm my dad died and mom sold the farm I kept up with farming with my cousin until I got married

    SO interesting! I LOVE the tours you take us on! American factories & farms🇺🇸Silage/fermentation is interesting to me bc it’s been done for 100s of years to preserve food & produce good bacteria for the gut.

      @@iowANFarmer I’m a big food preserver. Been canning for almost 30 years, dehydrating for several & just fermented my first apple cider vinegar..so that’s why silage is interesting to me I guess.

    I was watching Jan's channel up in Canada and he did a video of feeding robot system at another farm. Then I had to see some more robots for dairy! This is very interesting. Robots seem most helpful for industrial operations and not yet for consumer businesses such as restaurants.

    Great video hopefully you get back and we can see the kitchen when it's completed, I have seen a few of these robotic kitchens in Ireland and it's amazing how much simpler and easier it makes the job.
    Has he ever looked into robotic scrapers in place of the drag scrapers or are the cow barns too big for the robotic scrapers

      They didn’t have the right ones 6 years ago. That would be something we would have changed now but making do with what we got

    Nice vidio,curious how many times a day do the milking robots shut down for washing and do they all shut down at once or individually?

      Twice a day everything shuts down for a half hour and does a system wash. Anytime it milks one with bad milk it does a single robot 3 min wash.

    Thanks for sharing Ben. Always enjoy a good milking video. I'm curious what size is their holding tank? So how do you like married life? I've been married now for just over 8 years. Just when you think you got it figured out, here comes another surprise.

      I’m not sure how big that tank was. But I got a feeling it was a good size tank.

      The small one for when the milk man shows up is around 100 gallon or maybe a bit more. The main tank is 6000 gallon.

    Looks like they need to index their cows better in the stalls, rear should overhang so they dump in alley instead of back of stall. Have seen tires and bunk boards installed.

      They would have to answer, but I think they would go for the treats and it just kicks them back out.

    This whole process would truly amaze my dad that milked cows from the time he was teenager till we sold our herd many many years ago…. And we thought that out pipeline milkers were awesome.. what happens when you get hit with a power outage like an ice storm?

      You can only get that where they plant chocolate bars and around here we don’t have the growing season for milk chocolate.
