I was given the chance to go to the PTI farm in Pontiac, IL on a tour during a Fendt Momentum day. This video covers what I learned and expericed from the day along with a look at the PTI farms BRAND NEW GSI grand handling facility that they will be using for research in partnership with the PTI Farm.

The PTI Farm in Pontiac, Ill., is a research farm where 125+ test plots provide agronomic data, test ideas, both long-standing and latest agronomy principles and new technologies. It’s the intersection of agronomy, technology and equipment for farms all over the world.

When I was a kid in the 1960's Funks seed corn company in Mclean co, IL told us we were loosing the phantom yield you are taking about and recommended harvesting at 25%.
Still a good assumption today. Something they will be testingz
Definitely an interesting video we’ve been talking about putting up bins for a while and kicking around ideas on brands and who to go with and after watching this and seeing you talk to him he knows his stuff definitely will look at gsi first

Ben you were close to my area . I have actually delivered fuel to that Wallys gas station. That thing is huge. They built one in Fenton, MO. I think they are trying to be the Buckees of the north.
Ben, I really enjoy watching your videos. You you are still small and not really trying to push a lot of things on to us viewers to buy and just be yourself. I do understand paid partners help with projects along the way.

I like what Larson's have on their new bin with gravity unload into drag conveyor so only need to run unload auger when bin is almost empty save on electricity.
Lots of money there but you got to have any for going to have a big farm we need to have storage

The best part of the video was you asking the tough question about it paying it self off and how long would it take to recover the money on a bin set up. The Rep was a little defensive and not sure actually how to answer 😂. Great video Ben !!

Nice set up. The only thing I would have added to each bin is a gravity side dump for quick semi load out. Of course the long drag they have needs to be on the other side to make room for trucks loading against the bins,,or maybe put the unloading shoots on the other side..
The gravity unloads is a nice feature to consider
Great job. But how about grain cleaners? Do you clean the grain before or after the dryer ?

I built a set of 4 58 foot beens with on A 10 foot by 8 tunnel to a converee
Nice video. Takes me back to 15 year old me sitting on a platform with a whistle for loading trucks at the local CO-OP. $3.40 and hour and working looooong days.

why such small bins?
Looks very,very expensive for the amount of bushels stored. "A bit of noise" with the axle fans is a understatement I've two 1220 axle gsi's they are LOUD...lol. The reclaim system and overhead hopper = lots of $$$$$ you'll never get a roi on that unless your running 500,000-1,000,0000 bushel a year 10'' -12'' unloads and a truck auger easy fast and cheap....

Very nice bin site. It's too bad that other Iowa farmtuber ended up with such a poor install crew. GSI can make a great product, but a poor install makes a bad bin site.
