I just turned 74 and will begin my van life journey in under three weeks. My daughter is flying from San Diego to Richmond, VA, to share the first leg of my journey to the West Coast. During my military career and after retirement I did the international travel. I loved watching your van journey, sadly missing all of your previous vlogs. You are an incredibly wonderful couple and I wish you safe and enjoyable travels. Learn as much of the languages as you possibly can and don't be afraid to make mistakes...the locals appreciate your effort and the response is always positive, sometimes with laughter. You are very welcome. It is great to see you two in Peru. In 1972, I moved to the Amazon with my parents. I was twelve years old. The following year, we moved to Lima and began traveling in the Andes. Seeing your videos from the Cuzco area brought back a lot of warm memories!
This story was so beautiful! I smiled through the entire video. I wish every married couple could spend a year totally relying on each other away from all the support & comfort of home. Forcing them to bond in ways most couples just don’t in today society. My husband and I are older retired. We need this type of bonding time. As we are both retired now. With three huskies in toe I’m not sure how far we will get. But that’s ok our huskies are our world. And any journey will be fun. I’m happy you got to spend this wonderful time together. 20 years ago my husband and I bought a 20 foot Freightliner SprinterVan including the engine and running board It was so new style that people would ask what where we driving. We drove around USA going to Alaska twice and visiting all the states, except HAWAI. Now seeing all of your videos bring back a lot of our memories! So glad you liked Baltimore our hometown! Wish I had your cookbook when we traveled as i cooked all of our meals too!! Now I have driven it over 200,000 miles and look forward to our next adventure.

I think just like how it was bittersweet for your road trip to end, it was bitter-sweet for this video to end. Over the last year, your videos have brought me so much weekly joy. But I think that overall, living in that tiny space has given you both the great opportunity to truly appreciate the big wide space our world has to offer. I've watched literally a TON of these vanlife videos. Okay, maybe not literally a "ton" but probably thousands. And this is by FAR the best one I've ever seen. Nearly all of these videos seem to make out vanlife to be all sunshine and rainbows with an occasional installment in a series giving a nod to the normally unmentioned negatives. This video provided what I think is a highly realistic presentation of what daily vanlife is really like while, in a balanced way, also showing all the wonder, beauty and adventure that goes with it. Couple that with spectacular arerial drone shots, perfectly edited musical accompaniment and narration. Absolutely PERFECT. Plus you two seem like a wonderful, bright and adventurous young couple. You both "get it". Adventure includes obvious things like climbing a mountain or kayaking a raging river, but fundamentally its anything that pushes a person outside their comfort zone including such less obvious adventures like learning how to "live without" or negotiating one's way through a foreign country where one doesn't know the language or customs. I look foward to seeing the next stage of your adventures .
I want to buy your cook book! You're so creative its so inspiring to see that because you aren't surrounded by all this material clutter you truly find creativity in everything. Painting bones, making your own cookbook! It's clear that without the clutter you have the freedom for the inner artist to thrive.

You are so right to be doing this now, and not waiting for some mythical retirement age. My husband passed away this past December after a long illness. But. But. We traveled across this wonderful country of ours in our late 40's and our 50's and we were so glad we did. And now I'm thinking of doing some traveling on my own. I've been getting my mini van ready for travel, as well as getting my grown kids prepared for Mom/Grandma going out on her own. I do hate the desert southwest in summer. Yeah, it's dry heat and not many bugs, and it's (kinda?) cooler in the mountains if they're not closed for forest fires. But I LOVE it here in the winter! When you have a nice soft snow and everything is quiet, everyone's burning piñon in their fireplaces. Days are sparkling in the sun, and in the sun it's warm. Wind all year is tiresome. But it is enchanted.
Please know the love you have shared through these 26 minutes. You have brought me peace during a very dark time. You are doing “ all this” for yourselves but for so many others as well. Blessings and safe travels.

We just did an 8 day to our of the California coast in a rented van as a family of 4. We just had to know it was possible and we definitely took it as an Opportunity to see what works for us. We did park in a lot on San Francisco. By the time we got back to our Van, all the cars parked on the street had their passenger window smashed in. It was so sad. We hope to do this again now that we know what doesn’t work for us. Thanks for the inspiration ❤️

I and everyone else knew that if there were two individuals who could accomplish living and traveling in the tiniest of vans it was you two.
You proved everyone right! You are makers, you are creators, you are the bringers of light to places near and far. You both are two of my dearest friends and I know whatever or wherever lies next you will have the journey of a lifetime. 20 years ago my husband and I bought a 20 foot Freightliner SprinterVan including the engine and running board It was so new style that people would ask what where we driving. We drove around USA going to Alaska twice and visiting all the states, except HAWAI. Now seeing all of your videos bring back a lot of our memories! So glad you liked Baltimore our hometown! Wish I had your cookbook when we traveled as i cooked all of our meals too!! Now I have driven it over 200,000 miles and look forward to our next adventure.

ok wow I am going to be honest, your video pop up in my youtube feed, I became addicted with watching these videos back to back. I really felt like these videos were like watch a special on PBS. I love your positive attuites even in the worse of times. The world need more young folks like you to share love and joy and display what it truly is like to live in the best country in the world. I've watched literally a TON of these vanlife videos. Okay, maybe not literally a "ton" but probably thousands. And this is by FAR the best one I've ever seen. Nearly all of these videos seem to make out vanlife to be all sunshine and rainbows with an occasional installment in a series giving a nod to the normally unmentioned negatives. This video provided what I think is a highly realistic presentation of what daily vanlife is really like while, in a balanced way, also showing all the wonder, beauty and adventure that goes with it. Couple that with spectacular arerial drone shots, perfectly edited musical accompaniment and narration. Absolutely PERFECT.
Plus you two seem like a wonderful, bright and adventurous young couple. You both "get it". Adventure includes obvious things like climbing a mountain or kayaking a raging river, but fundamentally its anything that pushes a person outside their comfort zone including such less obvious adventures like learning how to "live without" or negotiating one's way through a foreign country where one doesn't know the language or customs. I look foward to seeing the next stage of your adventures .
I want to buy your cook book! You're so creative its so inspiring to see that because you aren't surrounded by all this material clutter you truly find creativity in everything. Painting bones, making your own cookbook! It's clear that without the clutter you have the freedom for the inner artist to thrive.

You are so right to be doing this now, and not waiting for some mythical retirement age. My husband passed away this past December after a long illness. But. But. We traveled across this wonderful country of ours in our late 40's and our 50's and we were so glad we did. And now I'm thinking of doing some traveling on my own. I've been getting my mini van ready for travel, as well as getting my grown kids prepared for Mom/Grandma going out on her own. Thanks so much for a simply marvelous documentary of your year's travels. I can't wait to see more!

I do hate the desert southwest in summer. Yeah, it's dry heat and not many bugs, and it's (kinda?) cooler in the mountains if they're not closed for forest fires. But I LOVE it here in the winter! When you have a nice soft snow and everything is quiet, everyone's burning piñon in their fireplaces. Days are sparkling in the sun, and in the sun it's warm. Wind all year is tiresome. But it is enchanted.
Please know the love you have shared through these 26 minutes. You have brought me peace during a very dark time. You are doing “ all this” for yourselves but for so many others as well.

We just did an 8 day to our of the California coast in a rented van as a family of 4. We just had to know it was possible and we definitely took it as an Opportunity to see what works for us. We did park in a lot on San Francisco. By the time we got back to our Van, all the cars parked on the street had their passenger window smashed in. It was so sad. We hope to do this again now that we know what doesn’t work for us. Thanks for the inspiration ❤️
