Awesome moment for Paragon Shepard when you think about it s/he *gets* krogan psychology; s/he *knows* that being polite and respectful won't earn the krogan's respect/work well with them, so they don't bother using it; they talk tough, establish their dominance, and nothing says 'my quad's bigger than yours, shut the fuck up!' to a krogan like a nice solid bashing of skulls. Besides, Uvenk was talking shit about Grunt (who the, third game makes all but outright stated, is pretty much the closest thing Shepard has to a son)-- ain't no WAY Shepard, Paragon OR Renegade, gonna let *that* shit slide.
+PhenomsServant4 The Shaman just met a human who understood and respected Krogan culture. Hell, the fact Shepard actually hurt the krogan without even putting much into their headbutt is impressive. I mean, Shepard was able to manhandle Wrex in ME1 and only became stronger thanks to Cerberus, but still.
To be honest, I feel like this option fits perfectly in even a paragon playthrough. Paragon Shepard may be good and polite, but he's not an idiot. He knows that the Krogan don't respect politeness and fancy words, they respect strength and bravery. If you want to get anywhere with the Krogan, you have to be tough, and uncompromising. If Shepard is just polite and continues to let Uvenk talk shit, he risks making himself and Grunt look weak. Headbutting Uvenk is not just hilarious, its exactly what any Krogan would expect him to do. Paragon Shepard willingly smashes his own head into the plate of a goddamn Krogan in order to make sure that him and his squadmate are taken seriously. Its not just a funny interaction, its a sound display of interspecies diplomacy.
I agree. Shepard is essentially siding with her krogan step son against some devout traditionalist and, in the process, showing that she fully understands alien customs and doesn't have a problem embracing their culture and methods of communication. The more I think about it the more I can't understand why it's considered a Renegade option... But then again, Renegade (and paragon sometimes) as a gamified morality system can be pretty nonsensical and badly implemented at times. Many times throughout the trilogy Renegade just means being an asshole for no reason or being racist at convenient moments lmao.
