Assassin's Creed: Codename Red is the working title for an upcoming installment in the Assassin's Creed series, being a part of the Assassin's Creed: Infinity platform. The game is set in Japan and will be helmed by Ubisoft Quebec.
According to the series' Vice President Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté, Codename Red will take place in Feudal Japan and allow players to experience a "very powerful shinobi fantasy". It will also return to the newer style Action RPG style games.

absolutely bad trailer, compare it to the old ones. I would have liked to play an japanese character, actually i think i would rather buy the ghost of tsushima pc version than this
Just played Ghost of Tsushima so highly doubt this game will be anywhere close to that one. If you haven’t played it yet you totally should, it’s everything I wish Assassin’s Creed was.

No hype from CG trailers. Sure they always look cool and sleek, but gameplay is what will be the selling point. Its like putting a Shelby Mustang shell over a Prius....cool on outside, empty on inside

You just know this will be a reskinned Valhalla - clearing regions one at a time with an awful narrative, but in Japan
If you want a good Japan open world set in this time period and similar to AC just play ghost of tsushima. Guaranteed that game’s 10x better than whatever this is gonna be. Combat’s really fun, good stealth, and an actually competent and immersive story.

the abscence of the mention of assassins worries me we'll get ANOTHER game with non assassin protagonists but still hyped for this game either way, looks so good.
you do realize the female protagonist is literally a shinobi, an Assassin?
@@andyocto25Yeah, I wonder if they are a splinter group of the wider creed, so they may not have contact with the wider group of assassins, that's just a guess, she might be in a similar predicament to Connor, where she has to rebuild the brotherhood in Japan.
They use the assassin proverb, in the trailer, well a different variation, if she's got a hidden blade, im sure she was born into the creed.

There was absolutely zero mention of anything of the actual creed and if they're doing ANOTHER one of these games then they have to be doing it on purpose to piss people off because literally no sane person would look at the outrage of the previous games and say "yeah let's do that again"

Definitely a great cinematic but that's just how it is with Ubisoft. I don't understand the choice of music in the fight scene at night and I'm definitely going to wait to see the state of the game at launch rather than preordering. Didn't get much Samurai or ninja vibes from it honestly. Hope they show more next month befitting Japanese lore.
As long as its a standard ubisoft game then im good. Maps are alqays beautiful. And i enjoy the games even though its not a real ac since the death of Desmond

Ronin/samurai games are enjoying a Renaissance atm and I'm all for it! GoT was an elite game and this AC game looks strong too. I'm looking forward to it!
But please heed my words: Do not play Rise of the ronin. I promise you it's not worth it. I stuck with it and gave it up. I got frustrated with it's clunky, sloppy gameplay and redundant and repetitive missions. The game was fun at first but becomes a painful chore very early on. Very disappointed!

Im glad they are sticking with the open world rpg style like odyssey (my personal favorite) As someone who is obsessed with Japanese culture and anything to do with samurai I’m definitely excited and I’m definitely choosing the black guy. I am a little annoyed that they don’t give us the option to choose gender for both characters as I’m one of those people that hates playing as female characters I refuse to play games that I have to play as a girl (zero dawn is the only exception) I personally believe any guy that plays as a girl is a pervert idc what they try to say they are. I like to play as a male character because when I play games I envision myself as that character to immerse myself into the game better and I can’t do that if I have to play as a girl because I’m a guy.
Im also annoyed that they went the woke route I mean I don’t mind playing as a character of different race but it’s just hard to imagine myself as the character since I’m white.
Im still definitely gonna play this like crazy but I won’t play as the girl and if I have to I’ll skip ll her dialogue.
They should have made it so we could choose our gender for both characters like they did with odyssey and Valhalla and we should have been able to choose our race also.
But mostly I’m just glad they are sticking with the rpg open world style

Ah, how splendid! The game features a black character and a woman as its main protagonists-both epitomes of political correctness. This choice alone could easily earn the game a perfect score of 1000 in the eyes of some. However, for someone like me, who views such decisions with a hint of skepticism, I'd reserve such high praise only if I were a shapeshifter, capable of altering my perceptions at will.

I’ll make it clear for the uneducated, in ancient times there were dark-skinned people who migrated to Japan, and they had significance in history, which is why there is even a statue of a dark-skinned person.
There’s literally a single black samurai ever recorded, Yasuke. And there are already games and tv shows featuring him. Why not look at some of the thousands of other samurai who have gone unnoticed in pop culture rather than keep focusing on this singular one just because he was black? And that’s assuming this is actually Yasuke and not some random black samurai that was thrown in for no reason other than diversity, despite Japan being very closed off and homogenous.
Not saying the fact a black samurai is a prominent character alone will make it a bad game, just that knowing Ubisoft and the current landscape of gaming there’s probably going to be plenty of modern day identity politics jammed into the game despite being set in feudal Japan, and the story will undoubtedly suffer from it.

I'll be honest, I think this 'choice' of a foreign protagonist in an Assassins set in feudal Japan is an absurd and primary mistake (and in several ways). Firstly, EVERY AC set in a specific place so far has had characters originating from those places as protagonists. Rightly so, in AC Japan they decide to include a foreign protagonist... secondly, the Japanese people are VERY attached to their culture. Doing so will be very bad for the Japanese market itself. And thirdly, at a time like this, when Ubisoft abuses questionable actions in its games and many are already refractory to exaggerated ideological interference in games, does it really need to engage in this type of controversy in its main franchise? Is there really a need for this??

After AC Valhalla with that trashy little short AC Mirage n then this stupid AC Red that makes no sense n the character placement is straight up garbage n historically makes no sense. I don’t want to play with some black samurai cuz that makes no sense. Straight up stupid. Idk what Ubisoft is thinking with this but they just ruined what could have been a quality AC game in Japan during the shogun n ninja era.
