This video has been getting a lot of recognition recently, and it's a pretty old video. Just two things.
    - On the syndicate part, I made a mistake. Lydia is Jacob's grandaughter, not daughter. I was tired when I made this video.
-Connor died a very sad and lonely death as stated in an abstergo handbook named 'The Sad and Lonely Death of Ratonhnhaké:ton'

After Black Flag, I sort of checked out on the AC series.
But Desmond Miles' death was certainly the saddest for me. He saw all of that past history, saw the future catastrophe, and gave himself up to stop it even though the world continued on and never even noticed.
Bummer we never got to see Desmond go on to be a playable modern day assassin in a new game.

I checked out on AC after AC II... That ending was so stupid that it broke my devotion to the series completely. .3. Like... First there was this cool, pretty relatable story with sci-fi elements to it. But then, out of nowhere they mixed in gods and religion of ancient times that really had no place in this story from the get-go. Suddenly it wasn't about the assassins, or the templars anymore... But instead, some kind of plot by gods that are long forgotten. Nothing good can come out of that. xD

Tbh he does have an interesting story but to just constantly give a character tragedies throughout their life and have one of the most unsatisfying deaths just ruins it imo. Most people enjoy character development with a satisfying closure at the end of their arc. Not to mention the gameplay of the first ac game was the least interactive and kinda dragged on in certain points of the game. Understandable cuz it was the first and since then they made the ac world much more interactive and expanded the lore which added to the story. But yeah Altair walked so the others can run.

If I recall, Ezio's death was actually more heartwarming and bittersweet; the man that sat next to him if I recall was a templar assassin sent to kill Ezio, but when he saw the condition Ezio was in, and during their conversation, he decided to just let him be, knowing that Ezio was passing away anyway, and that it wasn't right to take his life anyway. I believe both him and Ezio realised who each other were in those moments, which adds even more legend to Ezio's life.
Edit: Also, I just remember, and I cannot confirm if this was true, but I think Ezio and the templar talked in a way that convinced the assassin that Ezio was not some villain of the templars the way they saw him, but instead saw him as a fellow man, or something like that. I believe this was something a comment in another video on Ezio's death said I saw a long while ago, so take that with a grain of salt.

I can't seem to find references to the man being a Templar? Reading in the book by Oliver Bowden, all it states is that when the young man grips Ezios wrist as he got the pain in his chest, Ezio noticed that the young man had a strong, familiar grip and expression, but nothing more than that. The young man then stood up, told Ezio to get some rest, and left.
In the AC Embers short film, Ezio recognises the strength in the man's grip like in the novel, and the young man gives him a wry smile and nods before leaving, telling him to get some rest. Neither instance of the canon depictions of Ezio's death mention that the man was a Templar (although, the familiar strength might be an indicator of it, but that is just speculation), nor do they share more than four lines of dialogue with one another, three of which talk about Firenze (or rather, the young man hating Firenze, and Ezio telling him the problem doesn't lie with Firenze), and the last line being the man telling Ezio to rest.

What makes Haytham's death so bittersweet is that he actually deeply loved Connor, as is implied in his novel in the form of Assassins Creed Forsaken. He wished to present the journal, which recorded everything from the raid on the Kenway house that resulted in Edward's death all the way to his final battle, to Connor for him to read so that he could understand who his father was and why he became who he was in hopes that one day he might forgive him. He presented the journal as the truth, for his own father Edward never lied to him, and saw fit that he preserve that custom. I wonder what was going on in Haytham's mind as he fought Connor, maybe he was hoping his son would kill him, since he definitely didn't have the heart to kill his own son even if he threatened his own Order.
Oh and Connor did read the journal, he even wrote some entries in it, he wrote that he truly didn't understand who his father was up until he found the journal and that he misjudged him, but that it was too late to apologize to him. He even wrote in frustration to Haytham, saying that he has failed him, for he too failed in uniting the Assassins and Templars, but that it didn't matter because he will not give up in realising it.

    • @jane1975
      @jane1975 7 месяцев назад +16

@m1co294: Haytham didn't remove the Assassin's Symbol from his coat either did he, I think he had some respect for the Creed despite not being a member, Connor saw the world in a naive, black and white sense and Haytham wanted to teach him that the world wasn't like that and that a lot of people around him had an agenda, including Achilles whom we all know wanted payback for being crippled by Haytham in Rogue and no I don't think he would have killed Connor either, he was his son after all and heir.

The Colonial Assassins inadvertently get thousands of Haitians killed through their pursuit of artifacts and then try to and almost succeed in killing Shay. Then he ends up making fast friends and alliances with enemies of the assassins through the family that nursed him back to health. And the Templars prove that their knowledge of the artifacts and how they preserve them would make them the safer option to obtain them. While on paper, the Assassins are for personal liberty, in practice, they're every bit as controlling as the Templars they claim to oppose. Like it's literally why you're playing through Shay's memories in canon. Because Connor is his son and because he sees his younger self in Connor. When Haytham was in his 20s or so, he realised that the Templars and Assassins had the same goals and hoped that they could work together. The older he grew, the more he realised that could not happen. I'm pulling from the Forsaken book (journal of Haytham) and it has been a while since I have read it so I may be wrong on some things.

Triggering a massive earthquake in Lisbon and your own Grandmaster not taking that in account when finding other sites that would do the same will certainly do that. They might have leaned a bit into Irish stereotypes but Shay was a bit hotheaded and he had to wrangle with a lot of guilt over what happened in Lisbon. I also think he was chafing under Achilles before then as well (been too long since I only played Rogue once). Lisbon was just the final straw. An estimated 12,000 dead final straw. The young man on the bench is a Templar, there to ensure Ezio's death. It's up for debate whether he died of a heart attack like Ubisoft's canon, or whether the young man had a direct hand in it. But you can see that the young man has a Templar cross on his right-arm vambrace and the interaction once Ezio says "I don't think Firenze is your problem" is very suspicious; he grabs Ezio's hand as he struggles. He says "courage, old man" and nods knowingly after a look of realisation washes over Ezio's face. And remember this is animated - it was very intentionally done this way. At the very least it's ambiguous.

In this case, leaving some last words and ordering that apon me feeling my end near, I would order those if any around, to leave the room and only call paramedics an hour later. This is for a simple reason, I have seen death countless times and noticed something cruel. Although not intended or atleast not directly, wishing to be surrounded by loved ones in your end is the most selfish choice possible and the most damaging. Why would I want my spouse or kid or kin to see my end? So everytime they think of me they think "God rest his soul?", to that I say "hell is cold compared to such a thought", I much rather see my end as the dork that loved those close and gave words of wisdom I learned from my many mistakes because I know one thing. My suffering there is temporary as it's soon to end but theirs, their suffering will last a lifetime.

Though Ezio is the most popular (deservingly so because of the longest time spent with him)….Altair’s story was the best. Assassin training from the age of 9…died at the age of 94…went through loss of father at age of 11….then success…heartbreak…promotion…arrogance…demotion…change in character and thinking process…rise to Grand Master (youngest in the history)…burden of rebuilding the Assassin’s Order all over the world…loss of authority to Abbas…loss of youngest son…loss of wife…loss of purpose…burden of the Apple…rise to leadership…burden of securing the future for modern Assassins (including Ezio)…loss of Masyaf castle…pain of saying goodbye to only remaining son…last man standing guarding the Assassin’s at the age of 94!
No Assassin ever had a more impacting story (not even Ezio’s)…or one which left the greatest legacy…than Altair Ibn La Ahad. Shawn Hastings in AC Revelations wrote: ‘ If one man was responsible for the success of the modern Assassins…it was this guy…Altair Ibn La Ahad’. Berg (Templar Master)…mentioned how pivotal Altair was in the history of Assassins vs Templars fight: ‘Had Altair not killed his mentor Al-Mualim and reformed the brotherhood…the Assassins and Templars wouldn’t be fighting today’…in other words…without Altair…Assassins would have been corrupted and overwhelmed by the Templars. Altair not only ensured that the Brotherhood survived…but also that it thrived across the globe. Requiescat in Pace…El-Mentor…The Eagle…The GOAT…Altair Ibn La Ahad!

It's actually Ancestors of Desmond they had managed to extract via his DNA.
Also, you went so far as to mention Valhalla and Layla, but didn't describe her Death. Having been given the Staff she goes to investigate Yggdrasil as she is the only that can survive the radiation. After slowing the machine down to stop the overheating of the Earth, she ends up staying with the "Reader", who sounds and looks like Desmond. in order to help with figuring out how to stop the Earth destruction for good. Shay cormac would have a family and grandchildren. But in his retirement in New York, Shay would develop tuberculosis and fight it for years. Arno would find Shay suffering and because of it, decides to leave Shay alone.

One of the main themes of Rogue is that the Assassins and Templars are pretty much interchangeable. They, fundamentally, are both corrupt organizations using their influence to direct humanity down their chosen path. Shay chooses the Templars, not because he aligns with them ideologically, but rather because he sees the Assassins at the time as being the worst of the two options. A belief that is, I'd say, somewhat justified in text, as the Assassins are directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands of innocents over the course of that game.

Other than gender politics at Ubisoft, why is canon Eivor female? We see all the Isu reincarnate as the sex they were when they died, since they are basically kinda cloned. So why is Odin male and canonically Eivor female?

No, according to the sources, the young guy is nobody. He doesnt have a name, and likely, was never truly there.
They have the same lip scar and talk exactly like ezio in the begining. Its likely that the man was Ezio's mind conjuring a past version of himself as he died.
His canonical death is a heart attack
